"When are you going to talk to him?" Your best friend Rina said as she stuffed a big bite of rice into her mouth using her chopsticks.
You snapped your head in her direction. "What are you talking about? Who?" You questioned her, your eyes widening a bit. She pursed her lips. "What?"
"Yang Jeongin," Rina said. "You know, the boy you've had a crush on...hmm, I don't know, forever?"
"Lower your voice," you hissed and glanced over at Jeongin again. He was sitting on the other side of the cafeteria with Seungmin and Hyunjin like always, a smile on his face as he joked around with them.
"Don't make me force you to talk to him," Rina threatened and you knew deep down she wasn't joking. She stuffed some more rice into her mouth and you looked at her in disgust.
"You're such a pig," you remarked.
She shrugged. "Seriously though. Just talk to him," she said. "He's like the nicest person at this school. What are you so afraid of?"
"Cute boys," you deadpanned. "They're dangerous."
"That's true," Rina said with her mouth full of rice. She swallowed her bite before talking again. "Anyways. It's our last year. If you don't talk to him now, you might regret it for the rest of your life."
"Don't you think saying 'for the rest of my life' is pushing it a bit far?" You said and she looked at you with a straight face.
"No," she said. "It's not pushing it. I just think you guys would make a cute couple." She paused. "It would make me soft and I'd probably cry a lot, but when do I not cry?"
You shook your head at her. She really was something but you wouldn't trade her for the world.
"I heard his class is preassigned next period," she said with a slight eye roll. "And you know good and well he'll end up wherever the hell Seungmin is."
Your eyes widened. "Seungmin is in my class next period," you told her and she smirked.
"Well, have fun with that," she said as she picked up a piece of chicken with her chopsticks. "But here's an idea if he's in there. Talk to him."
"But Rina," you whined. "I don't know how to talk to boys. The only boy I talk to is my cousin and sometimes I can't even have a proper conversation with him."
"Okay, first of all," Rina said popping the chicken into her mouth. "Felix is a fucking crackhead and says the weirdest shit. No one can have a proper conversation with him."
"You make a very valid point," you said. "But still. Talking to family is different than talking to someone I've had a crush on since the first grade, okay?"
She hummed as she chewed her bite of food. "Whatever Y/N," she said rolling her eyes. "By the way, can I come over this weekend? I need a break from my brothers."
"If you don't mind dealing with Felix, then sure," you replied and her face scrunched up with confusion. "He's gonna be staying with us this weekend. His family are going on some trip for his younger sister's tournament."
"Why doesn't he ever go to those?" Rina asked and you shrugged. "I'll come over tomorrow." You didn't say anything as you looked over at Jeongin again. "Damn, I really wish Felix went here instead of that Catholic private school. Maybe lunch wouldn't be so boring."
"Hey!" You protested as you looked at her.
"Don't 'hey' me," she remarked with a serious expression. "All you do is stare at Trot Boy." Your cheeks flushed with embarrassment and you bit your bottom lip.
The bell rung, signaling the end of lunch. "I'll see you later," you said and she nodded.
"If he's in there, talk to him."
Why is she so persistent? "No," you said. "Not gonna happen." Then you picked up your bag and headed to forensics.

"What am I doing with my life?" You mumbled to yourself. It was currently Friday night and your cousin Felix was doing god knows what with your hair.
It started out with him doing a simple braid. Then he asked if he could play with it. And that's how you got to this point. You had no clue what he was doing or planning to do. And you had a feeling he didn't know either.
"Honestly, that's a mood," Felix said. "Oh and by the way, I'm transferring to your school."
"Seriously?" You asked then yelped as Felix accidentally pulled your hair. He mumbled an apology and started being more cautious.
"Yeah. I'll be starting on Monday," Felix said. "My parents really can't afford to send me to a private school anymore. But I'm fine with going to a public school. I've always wanted to."
"Rina will be overjoyed to hear that."
Felix chuckled a bit. "Why do you say that?"
"She thinks lunch is boring," you explained. "Well, I think she thinks I'm boring. She said it's because I stare at Jeongin."
"Who's Jeongin?" Felix wiggled his eyebrows and you rolled your eyes. He started to comb through your hair again. "Do you like this guy?"
"I mean, I guess I do," you said. "But everytime I try to talk to him, I freeze up and I can't get a word out. I'm so awkward when it comes to guys." You sighed. "I don't even think he knows I exist."
He hummed and stopped playing with your hair. "Maybe I can help you out when I go to your school. I could become friends with him or something."
"Felix," you said. "No. I don't know how to talk to him. And even if I did, I don't think he would like me back." You motioned to your body. "I mean, look at me."
Felix narrowed his eyes at you and turned you around to look at him. "Listen to me, there is nothing wrong with you, Y/N," he said. "You're beautiful just the way you are. And if he can't accept you, he doesn't deserve you."
You nodded your head faintly and was about to respond when you heard your stomach growl. Felix chuckled and so did you.
"Come on," he said. "Let's get something to eat."
"Okay, but you're not cooking," you told him. "Especially not after that time with the pancakes."
Felix groaned. "Y/N," he whined as he stomped his feet, resembling a small child. "You've got to let that go."
"Never," you said. You smirked a bit and headed for the door of your bedroom.

The weekend went by quicker than you wanted it to. Because before you knew it, Felix was opening your curtains and waking you up for school. You groaned and rolled onto your side, pulling the covers over your head, mumbling incoherently about not wanting to get up.
"You seriously need to get up if you don't want to walk to school," Felix threatened. Felix grabbed ahold of your covers and started trying to pull them off. But you stubbornly grabbed ahold of them and it soon became the biggest game of tug of war.
"Five more minutes, Lix," you pouted while keeping your eyes closed. But you knew how he was and you knew he wasn't going to give in so quickly.
"I let you sleep in, Y/N," he said. "Your dad wanted me to wake you up at six, but it's six-thirty." He let go of your covers and grabbed one of your pillows before whacking you with it.
You sat up straight after the third whack, throwing your covers off in the process. You glared at your cousin. "I hate you, I hope you know that."
You forced yourself out of bed and over to your closet. Felix started making your bed as you got ready. After pulling your hair into a decent looking ponytail, you grabbed your phone and bag.
"All right!" Felix clapped his hands together. "Let's go."
"It's too early for this," you mumbled as you followed him out of the house. "I just wanna get back in bed." You pouted as you thought longingly about your bed.
"Do you want to walk?" He asked and you quickly shook your head. "Then shut up."
You stuck your tongue out at him childishly and he did it back. "Meanie."
"I will seriously make you walk," he said as he unlocked his car then slid in behind the wheel. He leaned over and unlocked the passenger side. You opened the door and sat down.
"What's wrong with your button?" You asked, wondering why he had just unlocked the door himself.
"What?" He asked as he flicked his hair out of his eyes. You pointed to the button on the side of the door. He followed your finger and saw the button. He flicked the button and heard the locking sound of the doors. "I didn't even know I had that."
"Wow," you said sarcastically. "It's a miracle you're still alive."
He glared at you. "Do you want to walk?" You leaned back in your seat and closed your mouth. "That's what I thought. Put on your seatbelt."
"You're so bossy," you muttered as you put your seatbelt on. Felix turned the engine on and backed out of the driveway. Then he drove you both to school.
As you and Felix walked into the school together and you watched as girls looked at him. You swear you could see hearts in some of their eyes and some of them were sending you daggers. But you could care less about that.
You walked into the cafeteria and lead him over to Rina, who was stuffing food into her mouth as usual. She looked up from her phone and saw you both. She smiled and waved.
You both sat down and your eyes habitually looked across the cafeteria. But to your surprise, Jeongin was looking your way. Your cheeks flushed and you immediately looked at Rina with wide eyes.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked and you placed your head in your palms. "Dude."
You looked up at her. "Is he still looking?" You asked quietly. Rina didn't even have to think about who you were talking about. She looked over at Jeongin's table and sure enough, he was still looking at your table.
"What the hell?" Rina asked as she looked back at you. "Why is he looking?" You groaned and put your head down on the table.
"Yeah," Felix said dragging out the word. "Who are you guys talking about?"
"Jeongin," Rina replied. "If you look across the cafeteria, you'll see him. He's got a baby face."
Felix looked across the cafeteria and saw a boy looking at them. He had dark hair and like Rina said, he had a baby face. The boy waved politely at Felix and grinned. Felix waved back and returned his smile.
Felix looked at you, chuckling a bit when he saw that your head was still down. "So that's the boy you like?"
"Yep," Rina answered for you. "That's him."
Felix looked back over at Jeongin. Jeongin was no longer looking and was now talking to two other boys.
"Well, he's not looking anymore," Felix said and you lifted your head up. Before any of you could say anything, you heard the school bell ring.
"Yay," you mumbled sarcastically. "Time for class." Felix and Rina both laughed at your sarcasm. Then the three of you went your separate ways to class.

By the time lunch came around, the whole school knew that there was a new guy and his name was Felix. You and Rina were at your table and you were stuffing noodles into your mouth.
"How does he make friends so easily?" Rina asked and you looked up from your food. She nodded her head forward and you slurped up your noodle before looking back. Felix was walking into the cafeteria with Jeongin and they were both talking.
"Oh god, I hope he doesn't say anything about me," you mumbled.
"Why not?" Rina replied. "It would be good for you. Maybe you'll actually talk to him."
"What makes you think that?" You asked.
"Because they're all coming over here now," she answered and you didn't even have time to react. But if you did, it probably wouldn't have been rationally.
"Hey, mind if we sit with you?" The one named Hyunjin asked and you were about to respond saying that you did when you felt Rina kick you under the table. You yelped and glared at her.
"Of course not," she said and you mentally groaned. The boys sat down and you mentally plotted Felix's death. Jeongin ended up beside you with Felix on the other side of him.
Rina smirked at you as your face turned bright red. Felix noticed too and smirked. Well, I guess they're both going to die. But Jeongin was completely oblivious.
Seungmin, being the very observant and smart guy he is, took notice of the way Felix and Rina were smirking at you. He also noticed how red your face was. He put two and two together and made the assumption you had a crush on Jeongin.
Meanwhile, you were seriously trying to start up a conversation. But every approach seemed pathetic to you. A simple hey would've been fine but that's not a conversation. That's a greeting.
You could already see how that conversation would go. You would say hey and he'd say hey back. Then you'd probably ask something stupid like how's the weather or something along those lines. So no, you were not going to say anything just so you could make yourself look dumb.
Felix and Rina really wanted you to talk to him though. Sure, he didn't really Jeongin all that well but he could tell that he was a nice guy. Maybe he could start up a conversation or something with the table and bring you into it. But what the hell would he talk about?
The lunch bell rung and you quickly stood, mumbling a goodbye then rushing to forensics. You slid into your usual desk in the back and immediately put your head down.
Seungmin walked into the classroom and spotted you. Then he made his way back to you and slid into the seat beside you. You looked up and your eyes widened when you saw Seungmin of all people.
"W-What are you doing?" You asked and he raised an eyebrow. "I mean, like why are you sitting back here?"
He shrugged. "I need a change of scenery," he said simply. Then he leaned forward, making you look at him skeptically. "You like Jeongin."
It wasn't a question. It was like he knew. Was I really that obvious? "How did you know?"
"Figured it out when Rina and Felix were smirking at you. And your face was red," he explained. "And you avoided eye contact with pretty much everyone."
"Oh god," you mumbled as you put your head in your hands. "Don't tell him. Please. It's embarrassing."
He raised an eyebrow at you again. "I think it's kind of cute," he shrugged. "Why won't you just talk to him?"
"Because I'm an awkward person," you said. "And I'm completely antisocial and can't hold a conversation. But even if I did talk to him, there's no way he would like me back. I mean, have you seen me?"
You finally looked over at him and met his eyes. He nodded faintly. "I see you now," he said. "And I see nothing wrong with you. So stop being so critical towards yourself."
You sighed. "You don't get it."
"I actually do," he replied. "You don't think you're good enough or pretty enough for him. Or anyone for that matter. Well, I don't care what you say or think about yourself, I think you're pretty damn beautiful."
It was one thing to hear those type of words from Rina or Felix, because it was expected from them. They were close to you. But for Seungmin, a stranger to you, to say that to you, it meant a lot.
"Thank you," you said and he nodded his head.
"What are you doing tonight?" He asked and your eyes widened at his sudden question.
"Um, nothing?" That wasn't entirely the truth. You were honestly planning to go home and rewatch your favorite drama, but he didn't need to know that.
"Good," he said as he pulled his phone out. He started typing then looked at you. "I'm setting you up on a date with Jeongin. Tonight at six. At the cafe near the movie theater. You know it?"
You were completely shocked. Why did he want to help me? Your mouth fell open and shut then open again. You managed to nod your head.
"You better show up or I'll kick your ass," he said and your eyes widened again. You nodded your head again and he smiled at you. "Good. So it's settled then."
》 》 》
"I look ridiculous," you mumbled to yourself as you sat at a table at the cafe. You were early, really early. But Rina and Felix were both scared you were going to bail out so they made you come early. Now they were sitting on the other side of the cafe, not-so-subtly watching you to make sure you didn't walk out.
Rina and Felix had both took it upon theirselves to make sure you looked presentable and not like the couch potato they knew you were. You cussed at them both and tried fighting them but it was seriously no use. They were both too damn bossy and persistent.
So now you were sitting in the cafe, dressed in a grey knitted sweater and skinny jeans. Your hair was falling down your back in soft waves and you had managed to get by with just mascara.
It wasn't a bad outfit, in fact it was cute and you kind of liked it. It was different than your usual sweatpants and t-shirt, that was for sure. But it was the fact that you yourself didn't get to choose what you were wearing. You had enough common sense to know not to look like a complete bum. Especially for a date.
The sound of the bell chiming above the door in the cafe brought you out of your thoughts. You looked towards the door and saw Jeongin walking in. His eyes met yours and a shy smile grew onto his lips.
He walked over and you took a moment to look over his attire. He had kept it simple with a sweater and a pair of jeans. You smiled at him as he sat down in the seat on the other side of the table.
"Hey," he said and you mentally freaked out. What am I supposed to say? What if I sound stupid somehow?
"Hey," you said back as you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. Really, Y/N? You shook your head at yourself. "Sorry."
"Why are you apologizing?" Jeongin asked, a bemused expression growing onto his face. "You didn't do anything wrong."
"I-I'm just nervous," you replied. He smiled in response. He thought it was cute that you were nervous. Cause really, so was he.
"Have you had their hot chocolate?" Jeongin asked you and you shook your head. He tossed his back dramatically. "What? You have to try it! It's like the best thing ever."
You laughed a bit at his enthusiasm over hot chocolate. "All right. I guess I'll try one," you said.
He smiled. "Do you want the whip cream?" You nodded your head and he stood up. "I'll be right back." He walked to the counter to order and you glanced over at Rina and Felix, who were both staring.
You motioned for them to leave and they shook their heads. Your expression hardened and you mouthed it. Felix mouthed back a no and you mentally groaned. I'm really going to kill them both.
"You all right?" Jeongin asked as he returned to the table, two hot chocolates in his hands. He sat his down then yours. Then he sat back down.
"Yeah," you said. "I'm fine."
Jeongin took a sip of his hot chocolate then looked at you expectantly. After blowing on it a bit, you took a sip.
It was the best hot chocolate you had ever had. It wasn't too chocolatey nor was it too sweet. The whipped cream added just the right amount of sweetness.
"Well?" He asked. You licked the extra cream off of your lips and grinned at him.
"It's really good," you said and he smiled.
"You were really quiet at lunch," Jeongin said and your cheeks flushed.
"I'm not usually that quiet," you replied. "It was just...new people were at the table." It wasn't entirely a lie. You did have trouble being yourself around new people. "I'm a little awkward."
"I'm a little awkward sometimes too," he replied. "It's okay." He took another sip of his drink. "You know, I remember you from first grade."
Your eyes widened. "You do?"
"Yeah," he answered and smiled. "You were the girl who gave me an extra valentine. And when I asked you about it, you ran away."
"Oh," you were so embarrassed. "I guess I had a big crush on you back then." And I still do.
His cheeks suddenly started to turn pink and you wondered what he was thinking about. "Do you, um," he became a babbling mess. "Do you still do? You know, have a crush on me?"
You quickly averted your eyes to the floor and took a sip of your hot chocolate. You glanced up at him and nodded your head a bit, your cheeks turning dark red.
"That's crazy that you still do," Jeongin said and you looked at the table. You were so embarrassed. "Cause I had a thing for you back then."
"You did?" You asked, momentarily proud of yourself for not stuttering.
He nodded. "Yeah, I still do, too. That's kind of why Seungmin was so persistent on setting this up."
"That makes sense," you mumbled. Jeongin smiled and reached across the table, taking your hands in his. His hands are warm, you noted. And very soft.
He cleared his throat and you looked into his eyes. He has such pretty eyes. But you couldn't look long before he had you feeling flustered.
"There's a dance on Saturday," Jeongin said. "Do you maybe want to go with me? As my date? And maybe my girlfriend too?"
"Really?" You asked. "Y-You want me to go with you?"
"Yeah," he said. "So what do you say?"
Say yes, you idiot. You smiled at him and nodded. "Yes, to everything," you said and he smiled. Before either of you could say anything else, Jeongin leaned over the table and kissed your cheek.
It made your stomach do somersaults and your face felt hot. As he sat back down, you noticed how red his face was too. He's so cute. You smiled at him, biting your bottom lip lightly. He smiled back before bringing your hands up to his lips and pressing soft kisses onto the back of your hands.
