Bang Chan
Chan gives me Mafia vibes. Anyway, did any of you see Kingdom? A shirtless Bang Chan? And he said not to expect much. What a liar. All love though.
——————————————————————
It's a Friday afternoon. Not many people out due to how windy the weather is. For others, they have no care in the world and do what they want.
On top of building that is more than a few levels up, there is the leader of SKZ Mafia. Bang Chan is his name. He's wearing all black while preparing his rifle. He's patiently waiting for his next victim to come out of the North Street Mall.
"So who exactly is my next target?", he asked one of his teammates who's getting all of the information down of the Yu Family.
"Female. In her early 20's. Black hair, shoulder length. She's wearing a black tank top and shorts. Her bodyguard should be with her."
Chan got in his stance and waited. Every person that steps out of the building doesn't match the description. Not until a young lady walked out with her back facing, so Chan couldn't really tell.
"That's her!", his teammate Lee pointed out.
Chan's finger headed straight for the trigger and was about to pull but once he saw her face, he softly gasped and froze.
"What are you doing?! Shoot her!"
The noise around him got quiet as he watched her laughing with her bodyguard, being escorted to the black car. He didn't even have a chance because they drove off.
He let out a long sigh.
"Why didn't you shoot her?? Because of you're useless thinking, Boss is gonna kill us", Lee berated Chan as soon as he arrived to head quarters.
"Well luckily for you, it wasn't your job. I will speak to Boss as soon as I see him", Chan said, placing his rifle on the table.
"I'm not gonna be the blame for this. I'm reporting it right now", Lee said as he stormed out into the corridor.
Chan, rolling his eyes, let out a long sigh as he sat down on a chair. His other teammates and close friends, Minho and Felix, were leaning against the wall, wondering what he was thinking.
"So, why didn't you shoot her? You knew she was the target", Minho asked.
"Yeah, refusing orders will lead to severe punishment", Felix mentioned.
"Don't you think I know that? I just didn't have the shot", Chan said.
Minho raised an eyebrow and pushed himself off the wall before sitting on the armrest of the couch.
"No one was around. Her bodyguard was behind her. You had a clear shot", Minho pointed out.
They noticed he was spacing out, thumb over his lip as he leaned forward.
"What is up with you? You never miss a shot", Felix asked.
Chan pushed his hair back, wondering whether to risk it or not by telling them the truth. They're the only two who always has his back so it'll only be fair.
"Fine. This can't get out though", he said before the two nodded, "the reason why I didn't shoot is because I know her. But I haven't seen her in over a year."
"Wait, from where do you know her??", Felix asked.
"We used to be together. It was only a few months. We were having problems and I decided to end it because I didn't want to hurt her anymore. Since then we haven't spoken", Chan answered.
"Whoa. Wait, so you know who her father is then?", Felix asked.
"Yeah. He was never quite fond of me. I didn't think she'd be here in the city", Chan said.
"Just make sure Boss doesn't know. If he does, might as well throw yourself into the fire", Minho said.
Chan was called in an hour later. He knew he was going to get scolded, and possibly facing punishment so he was prepared.
"Sir, he's here", one of the butlers announced before leaving the room.
Only Chan, his Boss, and another one of his men were in the room.
"I assume you know why you're here", the Boss said, Chan nodding.
"I understand by not getting this job done is ruining your plan. I apologize and am prepared to receive whatever punishment you have in mind", Chan said.
The Boss watched him carefully, tilting his head, "follow me."
The three walked down the corridor and down the stairs until they reached the dark room, usually used to hold hostages and torture those to get information.
The other man walked into the room while Chan and his Boss stood in front of the two-way mirror.
"Since you purposely let the target go–"
"Sir, I didn't", Chan interrupted.
The Boss pushed Chan forward and knocked on the mirror. The man brought in a hostage, a black bag covering their head. He removed it, causing Chan's eyes to widen.
"So, I'm gonna ask you one time. Do you know this person?", the Boss asked.
The hostage had a blindfold covering her eyes and duct tape over her mouth. She had blood staining her shirt.
"I...don't", Chan answered.
The Boss was quite surprised. He knocked on the mirror again, signaling the man to take out a knife and hold it near her neck. Chan began to worry.
"Are you sure? Because if you don't, then you won't have a problem if he slits her throat. Right?", the Boss watched his expression carefully.
The closer the knife got to her neck, the more his heart would race. The Boss was about to knock on the mirror again but Chan stopped it.
"Okay, I know her", he answered.
The Boss raised his eyebrows and stood back, "I knew I could trust you. Well except with this. Since your girlfriend's father owns many hotels, it'll be quite easy to receive money from them. She could be useful. So you're in charge of this hostage. I want you to send out a note, threatening her father if he doesn't send me $20 million, she'll die. And you'll be responsible for that. If you fail, I will have no choice but to kill her in front of you, then you're next. Understood?"
Chan glanced at (y/n), watching as she lowered her head, "Yes, sir."
"And if you as much get close with this hostage, I will kill her with no hesitation. Just because she was your lover, doesn't mean I won't hold back. Now get out", the Boss ordered him to place (y/n) in an empty room with just a mattress.
She was shaking and such a mess. Obviously because she's terrified.
Chan lead her towards the bed and sat her down before telling her to calm down. He slowly took off the blindfold, meeting her eyes. Still glossy as ever. Then he took off the tape from her mouth.
"What the hell?? What are you doing?? Let me go!", she yelled and began kicking but couldn't because her hands and legs were bonded with rope.
Chan had to hold her legs and arms before explaining that if she doesn't keep calm, she'll die. That's when she stayed quiet.
As he turned away to look up something on his phone, (y/n) observed him. She thought that he looks so different, more mature and terrifying.
"Alright, I don't mean to do this. My Boss just wants money and your father has to abide or else things will escalate really bad", he explained, leaning against the wall.
"Money? Is your Boss cheap or something? Can't he get a normal job? Probably didn't even go to college. No wonder. Stupidity isn't contagious but can grow on people", she said.
Of course he knows she's referring to him.
"I'd be careful if I were you. This room is wired with cameras and mics", he warned her.
"Whatever. Your boss isn't gonna get away with this. And neither are you. Can't say I'm surprised. You haven't changed", she commented but it didn't bother him one bit.
"Do you want me to put the tape back on? Because I'll do it if you keep talking", he threatened.
'He'd really do that?', she thought.
Rolling her eyes, she laid down on the bed and turned her back on him, all while keeping careful.
She thought about a lot of things, how her father is gonna react, whether he'll give them the money, and if he does, will they let her go?
Maybe they won't. Maybe they'll kill her and her family and keep the money to themselves. But how can Chan do that to (y/n)?
About a half hour later, Chan came back to the room while holding a new set of clothes for (y/n), that way she won't be in the clothes that are stained with blood.
"Here. Put these on", Chan placed a large white shirt and grey sweats on the bed.
He told her to sit up so he can untie her hands and legs. She didn't want him to touch her but then she thought maybe she can escape.
Sitting up, he watched as he cut the rope from her hands and legs. When he was done, he put both hands on the side of her, staring intensely at her.
"I really don't want to hurt you. But if you try something, my boss will know", he warned her before pointing to the camera, "and he will hurt you. I'm only saying this because I don't want that to happen to you."
Scoffing, she rolled her eyes, "used to it."
He sighed and stood up correctly, telling her he'll give her a few minutes to change.
"Hey, how'd it go?", Felix asked as Chan waited outside of the bedroom that (y/n) is in.
"I was given orders to keep her hostage. I need to send out a note to her father. If he doesn't send the Boss $20 million, he's gonna make me kill her. I can't do that. And he can't know it's me that left the note. He's gonna think it's a joke", Chan sighed, pushing his fingers through his hair.
"Well what are you gonna do?", Felix asked.
Sighing, he thought about it clearly until he got an idea.
"Can you do me a huge favor?"
"This shit is too big", (y/n) mumbled as she looked down at the shirt.
She heard a knock so she quickly sat on the bed.
"You decent?"
She heard Chan's voice and rolled her eyes. He came in and checked if she was done. Her face was turned so she won't look at him.
"I'm gonna throw these away", he grabbed her bloody clothes.
"Your boss owes me a new pair of shorts", she said.
"I'm sure he'll get right on that", Chan joked as he walked out.
(Y/n) looked around the room, noticing a window from across. She went over and checked on it. It's so small, like a window in the basement. Also her height is what she's hating at the moment.
"Curse my short height", she mumbled.
The chair across the room caught her attention and was about to go towards it but that's when she heard footsteps. She ran towards the bed and sat down.
Chan entered seconds later and brought her a sandwich and juice box. He placed it next to her before sitting on the chair.
He waited for her to eat but all she did was stare at the sandwich. He wondered why she wouldn't eat, "aren't you hungry?"
Her stomach rumbled after asking that question. She held onto her stomach and closed her eyes, "no."
"I didn't poison it or do anything to it if that's what you're thinking. Don't you trust me?", he asked without even realizing the situation she's in, "..I mean, I wouldn't do that. Made it myself. I know you hate the crust so I cut them off."
She didn't move. Chan nodded and told her it'll be there for when she's up for it. He headed towards the chair and took out his phone, checking background information on her father.
As seconds go by, she'd glance at the sandwich every now and then. She gave up after about 30 seconds before grabbing the sandwich and juice. Chan slightly looked up and smiled softly as she took a bite.
It's been over 24 hours now. (Y/n) is asleep and Chan is watching closely, thinking about how horrible he feels for doing this.
The information Chan found is that her father has been embezzling the money from his own company to illegally gamble. Just imagining how (y/n) would react is making him feel worse.
First her mother leaving them for someone "richer" and now her father who's been gambling out money. She's innocent in this. Why does she have to be here?
(Y/n) was woken up around 6 in the morning. There was Chan standing nearby and another guy that she hasn't seen before. He was holding a tray of food.
She scooted back until she hit the wall.
"You're lucky you're eating breakfast", Lee said, giving her a nasty look.
As he got closer, she was ready to beat the living crap out of him. But instead kicked the tray, causing the food to go all over him.
"You stupid little b–", Lee was about to charge forward but Chan got in the way, standing in between them.
"Watch it", Chan kept a hold of (y/n)'s wrist, which Lee noticed.
"You stay out of this. You know whatever she does to disobey any of us, she has to get punished", he looked over at her before continuing, "maybe a little cut on that pretty little face of yours will do you some good."
Chan placed a hand on Lee's chest and pushed him back. That got him angry.
"Letting her not eat the rest of the day can be a punishment for her", he said.
Lee scoffed and shook his head, "we'll see", and walked out.
Sighing, Chan turned around and asked it she was okay. She was hugging herself and pulled her legs up to her chest, resting her back on the wall.
These thoughts in her about almost dying or being repetitively stabbed are freaking her out. What if they do kill her? She won't be able to do what she's always been wanting to do: finish school, travel the world, get married and have kids. How is she gonna do that if she's dead?
Chan began picking up the tray and plates before cleaning up the food.
"Because of that, I can't give you any food for the rest of the day. I wish I didn't have to do that but if I don't, they'll know and you'll get an even worse punishment", he explained.
"I don't care. I just want to get out of here. I don't see why you guys want money. I'm sure there are other ways", she said.
"..right", Chan didn't want to tell her that her father gambles money and that he crossed paths with his boss. But she deserves to know.
After throwing everything out, he sat down on the chair, rested his head back and sighed.
(Y/n) noticed a small tattoo on his wrist. She can tell he tries to hide it with his long sleeves but it doesn't work because his arms are too big. Maybe if he actually wears shirts that fit him correctly then he wouldn't have that problem.
"What?", Chan asked.
(Y/n) stopped spacing out and realized she was staring at him. She shook her head and looked away.
"Nothing. It's just...your tattoo. It's a happy face", she pointed out.
He nodded and showed her the tattoo, "You told me all you wanted for me was happiness. I got it the day before we–..... It doesn't matter now I guess."
She remembers telling him that. It was after he had like a mental breakdown. She didn't know what he was going through because he didn't tell her. But she also didn't want to force him to tell her. If it was too personal, she'd understand why he didn't say anything.
"Anyway, I feel like I need to tell you something. I'm not sure if you're gonna believe me but I wouldn't lie to you, especially now. It's about your father", he started, watching her expression change.
"Is he alright?", she asked, sitting up.
"Yeah he's fine. I was just going through some of his background and I found something that will probably make this situation worse–"
"Wait why would you do that?", she asked, feeling angry that he invaded her father's personal stuff.
"Just hear me out. I had to. Just in case my Boss found something that'll kill him right away. Which is why I wanted to talk to you. He's been gambling money that's been earned through his company. Plus, he knows who my Boss is. He's lost a lot of money and by checking his account, it's not looking too good. Let me put it this way, he doesn't have the $20 million, not even close to", he explained.
"..I don't believe you. My father wouldn't gamble. He's a smart man–", Chan showed her all the information he found.
The papers were right in front of her but she couldn't believe it. Maybe they made these up. Fake papers?
But then her father's bank account number is correct and everything he bought for her, like the black Ford Flex SUV. She can also see there literally less than $50 in the account, mostly because of a lot of withdrawals.
"I know you don't want to believe it because he's your father. But are you really surprised? He never spends any time with you, always puts your goals and ideas down, and whenever he feels bad he just buys you something to make you forget about it. Don't fall for his manipulative manner–", Chan was startled a bit by her abruptly walking away from him.
She stood facing one of the corners and tried not to cry. All of the things Chan explained were right. He never spent any time with her and when he sees she's upset, he buys her something expensive. Then she'd stop being upset. How is that right?
"Hey", Chan held her hand and pulled her towards him so he can hug her.
Surprisingly, she hugged him back. It felt like what they had back then, as if none of their feelings had went away.
If only it was that way.
Chan heard footsteps and quickly pulled away, telling her to sit on the bed. As she did, Lee came storming in, keeping his eyes on both of them.
"Boss is asking for you", he said to Chan.
He told (y/n) he'd be right back and was about to walk out but noticed Lee wasn't moving.
"Oh while you're gone, I'll be keeping an eye out on your little girlfriend here", he smirked.
Chan hesitated to keep walking. He didn't want to leave Lee alone with (y/n). But he can't make it obvious that he's getting close to her.
"I'll be quick", he said to her before walking away.
Once he was out of sight, Lee closed the door, leaned against the wall and smirked at (y/n). She kept her back on the wall, hugging her knees.
"You really think that he's gonna keep you safe? He's already in a whole lot of trouble. And you're the cause of it. Just letting you know if he dies, that's on you", he said.
"You're insane", she said, getting a nasty look from him.
"Tell me, does he know about your so-called 'bodyguard'. Because once he finds out that he's your fiancé, I'm sure he'll feel hatred towards you once again and he'll have no problem sticking a knife in you", he got closer until he was at eye-level.
She glared at him before spitting on him. He stepped back and wiped it off his face before taking out a knife, pushing her down the bed. She tried to push him off but he had the knife close to her neck.
"You might've gotten away with disrespecting me last time but right now, there's no one here for you. And you're gonna get what you deserve after everything", he smirked, making a small cut on her neck.
Sounds of groaning and yelling could be heard through the hallways. But who can really hear when no one was around.
In the dark room, there was Chan with his wrists tied above him, no shirt so he can really feel the pain. His Boss kept hitting him with a baseball bat, resulting in bruising all over his chest. His face was all bloody and his right eye is closed due to how much physical contact his fist hit him.
His Boss crouched down so he could face him, "you know, no one is to blame but you. I specifically explained what your responsibility was and you disobeyed me. But then again if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have found out the real reason why her father hasn't contacted us. What kind of a father would do that to their own daughter? It's quite selfish, I'd say."
Chan's eyes scanned him. He was breathing heavily and tried not to show that he's in pain.
"I guess we won't be needing your girlfriend after all. Tell me, how should I kill her? Should she have a quick death or make her suffer? Your choice", he said.
"Go to hell", Chan spat.
His Boss laughed really loud before grabbing the bat, swinging it to hit him right on his side. He suppressed his pain before standing up correctly.
"Where is she? Where's (y/n)?", Chan asked.
"She's getting a little...makeover I would say", his Boss smirked.
After saying that, Lee barged in while pulling on (y/n)'s arm. Chan noticed she had blood gushy from her face. Why? There were four cuts on her cheek and neck.
"Chan", she gasped out and wanted to go towards him but his Boss got a hold of her.
He immediately felt adrenaline go through his skin as he saw how he held onto her.
"And by the way, you should congratulate her. You know she has a fiancé? Or had, anyway. Such a rookie, doesn't even know how to protect himself", his Boss laughed mockingly along with Lee.
"You're after her father. She did nothing to you. She's innocent", Chan said.
"Innocent? That's for me to decide. And I think she's guilty. I think she knew about what her father was doing and didn't want to say anything to save her ass but she's in big trouble now", his Boss said.
(Y/n) shook her head and kept saying she didn't know anything but she shut up as soon as he held a gun to her head. The fear in her eyes, as well as Chan's, made his Boss smirk evilly.
"Any last words?", his Boss asked her.
Before anything can happen, Lee was told by one of his butlers that they found her father. He pushed her aside and told Lee to look after them while he's gone.
"Don't try anything. I have one my guys guarding this room who's professionally trained to kill anyone in sight", the Boss left.
So there was Lee inside the room with them and another one standing guard. Lee was being a bit cocky by telling them that he knew they weren't gonna get away with it.
(Y/n) wanted to go towards Chan but Lee was in the way.
Not too long after, they heard groaning coming from the other side of the door. When Lee checked, he found the guard dead on the floor.
"What the f–", Lee felt a sharp pain coming from his back.
Someone had stabbed him, not once but five times, falling on the floor as he lost his breath.
(Y/n) quickly ran over to Chan and hid behind him.
Minho stepped inside and wiped the blood from his knife on his black jeans.
"There's not much time", he said as he stepped forward to cut Chan down.
(Y/n) helped him by carefully putting his arm over her and walked behind Minho as he checked the hallways. Fortunately there wasn't anyone around to stop them.
Waiting at the exit is Felix who's keeping an eye out.
"Hey, you guys need to hurry", he said, noticing Chan's state.
"Wait, what about my dad? They're after him", (y/n) said as Felix helped him get on the passenger seat.
Felix glanced at Minho.
"Well, about that...they didn't really find him. No one can actually. He just disappeared. There's no trace of him", Minho said.
"After I left him the note, he just packed all of his stuff and left. I overheard him saying that he can't get caught because of this", Felix explained.
Chan looked over at (y/n) who's in disbelief.
"He...didn't even try looking for me? Just left?", (y/n) repeated, trying to think whether to believe that or not.
"You have to get moving. They'll be following you if you don't. Take them to that place. I'll stay behind and meet you there in a few", Minho said to Felix.
During the drive to their secret hideout, (y/n) was in the backseat, thinking about the whole situation. Chan, who's in so much pain, hurts him more watching her from the rear view mirror. He didn't even know that her father left without trying to get her back.
"Alright, we just have to set you down right here", Felix helped Chan onto the couch.
Their hideout is hours away from the Boss' head quarters. They've had it before joining the mafia. It was Minho and Felix's first before letting Chan hang around.
"I'll go find something for the pain", (y/n) said as she walked towards the bathroom.
"I see why you have feelings for her", Felix mentioned, sitting on the other couch.
"What do you mean? We broke up over a year ago", Chan said.
"That doesn't mean you still don't like her. I mean, why else did you protect her when she was in there? Why didn't you shoot her when you were supposed to? If you didn't care about her, she'd be dead", Felix said.
Chan was about to say something but (y/n) came out of the bathroom carrying a small red box. She sat next to Chan before Felix said he had to go check on Minho to see if he needs any help.
When he left, (y/n) looked through the red box, finding ointment, gauze, bandages, and disinfecting wipes. He had a lot of bruising on his chest, abdomen and back while his eye and cheek were a bit swollen.
"I should probably go check if there's ice to help with the swelling", she said, running towards the kitchen.
The only thing that was in the freezer was ice and a half-eaten popsicle.
So she put a few of the ice in a baggie and ran back to Chan. She told him to hold the ice on his eye while she tended to the other injuries.
While putting the ointment on the bruise near his arm, he watched as her eyes wandered about.
"How are you doing?", he asked.
"Shouldn't I be asking you that? You're the one who almost got beaten to death", she said.
"And you're the one with bloody cuts all of your cheeks and neck. Here, give me some napkins", he grabbed one and started wiping away the blood from her face.
She winced as he accidentally pressed too hard.
"Sorry", he whispered before continuing but she shook her head and pushed his hand away.
"Your injuries are more important. Now let me finish", she said.
Sighing, he let her continue putting the ointment on the bruises, even though he could do so himself.
As she did that, there were a few already healed up scars that caught her attention.
"Why do you do this? It's obvious you always get injured. What if one day you don't survive and you end up being killed?", she asked.
"I don't think about that", he answered.
"I can see that", she frowned, "Chan you should go to the hospital. He could've fractured a rib and it could rupture one of your organs. That's dangerous."
"No. No hospitals. If we end up going there, they'll know and kill us. It's best if we wait it out here. I'm not sure how long but Minho and Felix, I'll talk with them and we'll figure something out. Try to understand that leaving your own mafia group is not something to be taken lightly", he explained.
She nodded and moved on to the blood that's on his face. She had to carefully wipe off the blood before tending the small cut on his lip and cheek.
"Try not to move so much, just in case", she said.
About to put the things away, Chan grabbed her hand and told her to sit while he helps her with the cuts. So she sat in front of him and watched as he struggled to clean the wounds on her face and neck.
"I think I should do i–", she was reaching towards the ointment but he pushed her hand away.
"You helped me with mine and now I'm helping you. So quiet", he said, softly smiling.
As he cleaned up her wounds, she decided to hold the ice for him on his eye. She winced a little bit, feeling the stinging pain more on her cheek but she tried not to show how painful it is.
"So....fiancé Huh?", he said, raising an eyebrow.
"Not so much anymore. They killed him right in front of me", she started and looked down a bit, "it wasn't really much of an engagement. He was working as our bodyguard and his parents and my dad arranged the whole thing. We didn't really feel anything for each other. We were both really great friends and we didn't want to disappoint our parents so we agreed to it. At some point we tried to see if our feelings would turn into something more but...it was more weird than anything."
"So you've gone on dates with him? Have you kissed him?", he asked.
"...once. It was after our third date. We had fun but when it came down to it, I felt nothing. It didn't feel anything like–", she stopped herself from talking, about to say how it wasn't comparable to their first kiss.
"Like what?", he asked.
He finished up with her wounds and waited for her to speak.
"Nothing. Are you hungry? You guys have food right?", she asked, quickly walking towards the kitchen to save her from any embarrassment.
"Well...no. We usually order food. We stay here for the weekend so we don't really buy anything that'll go to waste once we get back. You can just order something on that tablet over there. Don't worry, it'll be anonymous and no one can trace it back", Chan said, pointing to the small device on the table.
She hurried over and began looking through the restaurants nearby. Different places, different menus but all she's craving is pizza.
"Is pizza okay with you?", she asked.
He smiled and said, "with extra cheese and sauce? Of course. I remember that's all we used to eat on our Friday night movie dates. Both of us would eat half–", Chan kept remembering their memories but stopped once he noticed (y/n) looking at him.
"..pizza is fine", he said before clearing his throat.
She ordered two medium cheese pizzas and two large drinks. The order will be placed outside of the building and once the driver leaves, she'll get it.
When the pizza arrived about a half hour later Chan was already asleep. He looked very uncomfortable because his head was tilted back.
"Chan", she whispered, softly poking his arm, "you should move to a bed. Your back is gonna be in more pain."
He groaned and turned to his side all while grabbing her wrist and pulling her towards him. She landed on his chest as his arms wrapped around her, head snuggling against hers.
She can hear his slow breathing, indicating that he's still asleep. She tried to get out of his embrace, just in case she was hurting him but he would only hug tighter.
Sighing, she knew he won't let go. That hasn't changed. When they were together, he'd always cuddle her and it would be hard for her to get away. She got used to it though.
"I guess you haven't changed", she whispered, slowly looking up at his sleeping face.
Softly smiling, she closed her eyes and fell asleep as well.
"Jeez, I've never seen this side of him."
"You think they did something while we were gone?"
"No. He's in too much pain.........well I don't think they did."
"I say they did."
Chan woke up hearing voices. His eyes blinked rapidly before his vision cleared up. Felix and Minho were smirking at him.
"What time is it?", he asked, rubbing his eyes.
"It's 7 in the morning. It's quite early", Felix said.
"You must've slept comfortably despite the beating you got yesterday", Minho said, glancing at (y/n) who's was still asleep on his chest, arm wrapped around him.
Chan was about to sit up quickly but maintained his control and stood up without waking her up.
"Let's talk", he motioned them towards the kitchen to let her sleep.
Chan sat down on a chair while the other two stood around.
"We took down the rest of the members but Boss is gone. I don't even think we should call him boss anymore. Anyway, we think he's hiding but looking for you and her. He won't stop until the both of you are dead", Minho said.
"Right. I don't think it's safe for either of you to stay here. We've collected at least $20,000 for the both of you so we think it's best if you go somewhere where you won't be found. You'll be needing new passports and tickets and new identities. Just until we catch him of course", Felix explained.
"What about her father? Is he alive at least?", Chan asked.
"He is. We believe he wants to stay as far away as possible from her. But if he gets caught, he'll be arrested and in jail for at least 20 years. So, not sure how she'll feel about that", Minho said.
"She's already upset with him. I'll come up with a way to tell her", Chan said.
They heard shuffling coming from the living room. As they peeked over, they could see (y/n) rubbing her eyes while stretching.
"We'll leave you to it", Minho said as he and Felix left.
Chan stood before (y/n) as she looked at him with her doe-like eyes.
"The pizza went bad", she mumbled.
He chuckled and shook his head, saying that it was okay and that he'll order breakfast.
"There's something I need to talk to you about."
"20 years? So either way he's screwed", (y/n) said as she placed her cup of orange juice on the kitchen table.
"Yeah, he's either dead or going to jail", he said.
Her expression changed once again, feeling more upset than ever. Chan noticed and placed his hand on top of hers.
"Are you okay?", he asked.
"I just don't understand why he wouldn't come looking for me. Sure I may have been a bit too much to handle but...was it that bad that he doesn't even want me around anymore?", she asked herself.
"It's not your fault. He should've put his time and effort to be the best father out there. But if he doesn't want to be a part of your life anymore, that's his loss. You're pretty amazing so I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to be around you", he smiled.
She smiled back and thanked him for everything.
"So...new identities and new passports. Where are we going?", she asked.
"I know a place."
The flight was a few hours long. (Y/n) was terrified of the turbulence but Chan would tell her to close her eyes and think of something else. He'd comfort her the entire flight.
"It's so hot here", (y/n) complained as soon as they stepped outside of the airport.
"Yes, Australia does have incredibly hot weather. Don't worry, there's a pool where we'll be staying at", he said.
Chan rented a two story house with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a nice balcony, a pool with a jacuzzi, and a really big tree that had a swing.
The house is really nice. She couldn't decided which bedroom she wants..that's until she found the one upstairs with the balcony and it's own bathroom.
"Dibs on this one!", she yelled out as she quickly placed her bags inside.
Chan chuckled and shook his head, "that's fine. I'm okay with whatever bedroom I get. Which will be right across yours. Get yourself comfortable and if you need me, I'll be in there."
Once he was out of sight, (y/n) sighed and sat on the bed, looking around the room. She may or may not get used to this.
It was around 1am. (Y/n) took almost five hours organizing everything in her new room. But she wasn't tired. So she went downstairs and sat down on one of the white couches, staring up at the skylight.
"Hey, what are you doing down here? Thought you'd be sleeping", Chan said, walking down the stairs.
"Not tired. Thought if I'd look up at the stars, I'd fall asleep. But I'm just calm", she said.
He sat down next to her and rested his head back to look up at the stars as well. It was quiet and refreshing to feel calm after who knows how long.
"This is so strange", she commented.
"What is?", he asked.
"Having a completely different life. I mean, before I felt like I couldn't do anything because my father would think it's just a waste of my time. But now that I'm here, I can do whatever I want without having him put me down. It seems..wrong", she said.
"It's wrong for you to live your life the way you want to without having your father's approval? No. I mean, you kind of had no choice but I can see you succeeding in many things here. I'm not gonna be like your father and disapprove of everything. I will support you all the way", he said.
Smiling, she turned her head and intertwined their hands together before getting another glimpse of his small happy face tattoo.
"So...hopefully it won't happen but what if your boss ends up finding out where we are?", she asked.
"Well, Minho and Felix are doing all they can right now to track him down. But I'm 100% sure he hasn't a clue we're here. Even if it came down to it, I won't let him hurt you. I'm gonna do all my best to protect you", he said.
"This is like deja vu. I remember you saying that when we started going out", she said.
"Yeah but I failed to protect you back then. I promised I'd do anything so you won't get hurt and I was the one hurting you. Not this time", he said.
She tried her best to not cry and instead rested her head on his shoulder. They continued talking about other things until they both fell asleep.
It's been a couple of days. (Y/n) ended up getting a job at a small flower shop while Chan works at home online. It's weird for them to call that place home when all their lives they lived somewhere else and separated.
She loves this life better than her old life. She feels happier.
"Chan! Look what I bought!", she ran inside where Chan was sitting on the kitchen table, drinking a glass of water while reading a magazine.
"Look! It's a fish. It's so cute and orange and fat. I can finally put it in that tank I bought at the yard sale", she said, showing her the goldfish.
"Is that what you really went to buy with your first paycheck? I thought you would buy some new shoes or clothes", he said.
"Because I'm a girl? I have enough shoes and clothes. What I didn't have was a fish and now I have it. Imma call him Patch because he has little dark spot on his stomach. Hold him", she said, handing him the fish.
She ran over to the garage to look for the tank.
Chan's phone began to ring and he answered it once he realized it was Felix.
"Hey, what's up?", he said.
"Hey, is (y/n) with you?"
"Yeah, she's in the garage–"
"Okay, don't let her go anywhere. You too, don't leave. Lock everything and make sure no ones goes inside."
"Whoa, what's going on?", Chan asked, getting worried.
"Minho's dead. He got him. I found him in the car. He was shot dead. Boss found all the information about where you too went. He knows your new identities. But luckily he doesn't know where you live. Lock everything and I will get there as soon as possible."
(Y/n) came in after Felix hung up. She was struggling to carry the tank. When she asked Chan for help, he was already locking up the doors and windows.
"Hey, what are you doing?", she asked, placing the tank on the table.
"Remember when I said I'd do anything to keep you safe, to protect you?", he asked, her nodding in response.
"Well now is that time. Look, I want you to hide in the attic. I already fixed it up and I have a few of my guns up there. There's food and water stored so you'll be good. I'll stay down here just in case. Felix said he's on his way to help out", he explained.
"What about Minho? Is he not coming too?", she asked.
Chan didn't say anything and told her to take the fish upstairs with her. When she realized he didn't say anything about Minho, she realized it's nothing good.
"I want to stay down here with you. I want to help", she said.
"No. It's too dangerous. How can I protect you when you're down here with me. You have to hide. He can't know you're with me", he said.
"He already knows I'm with you. So what's the point–"
"(Y/n), I don't want to argue with you right now. Please just understand", he said.
Sighing, she was about to grab the fish but she stopped, turned around and ran towards Chan.
"What's wrong?", he asked.
She stood up on her toes and wrapped her arms around his neck, closing her eyes to kiss him. It took him a few seconds to process what was going on. But then, he pulled her closer and kissed her back.
"Please don't die. That would be a real shame", she said, digging her face onto his chest, causing him to giggle.
"I promise I won't. Just get up there. Everything will be fine", he assured her before she went up to the attic.
Chan's smile disappeared and took out one of his pistols. He kept the curtains closed and peeked to see if he saw anything suspicious.
It went like that for hours until he sat on the chair. He wondered where Felix could be because he would call him and it would go straight to voicemail.
After leaving a message, he got startled by figure in the mirror. He turned around but he saw no one there. Holding the gun tightly in his hand, he slowly scanned each room carefully. The dining room, living room, laundry room, basement, all in that order. Once he reached the kitchen, he felt something cold behind his head.
He turned around slowly and eyes the gun that was pointed at him. Then he met eyes with his Boss. He didn't look the same. There was blood all over his shirt, his lip was cut, and his eyes look like they've seen stuff that no one should see.
Chan was about to point the gun at him but he was told if he did that, he'll get shot. So he slowly put the gun on the counter and raised his hands.
"Australia, huh? Should've thought of that before", his Boss tilted his head, fingers jittery around his gun, "so where's your girlfriend?"
Chan's eyes went from the gun to his Boss, back and forth before answering, "she's not with me."
His Boss let out a mocking laugh, "Liar. I don't like liars. Where is she? Tell me or a bullet is going right between your eyes."
"She left. When we got here, she realized she didn't want to have this life, so she left. I have no information on where she's at", Chan said.
"She left? Just like that? And you let her?", his Boss asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What was I supposed to do? Keep her prisoner? I'm not like you", Chan said.
He scoffed, stepping closer to him, "What are you talking about? You're exactly like me. You came to me for help. I trained you. Every person you killed, that was your decision. You really think she's gonna fall in love with someone who kills people for fun."
As his Boss spoke, Chan could see over his shoulder. (Y/n) was tiptoeing closer to them while listening to what they were saying. She had one of Chan's guns in her hands but she's afraid to use it.
He wanted to signal her to leave but he didn't want to make it obvious. Then his Boss stopped talking and wondered what he was looking at. He was about to turn but Chan managed to kick the gun out of his hand and pushed him down.
"Run (y/n)!", he yelled as he held his Boss down but he groaned as he felt a hard punch on his side.
She watched as they fought, panicking more and more as she saw Chan getting hurt. She didn't know what to do, like her body was refusing to do anything. Her hands were shaking, causing her to almost drop the gun.
His Boss stood up and smirked at Chan and (y/n). He first looked down at Chan who was in pain and then at (y/n). He began walking towards her but she pointed the gun at him.
"Hilarious how you think you can shoot me. If you want to, go ahead", he said, putting his arms to the side.
"Don't do it (y/n). Just go", Chan struggled to get up and when he wanted to, his Boss kicked him on his side.
(Y/n)'s tears kept going down her face as he punched and kicked Chan.
"Stop it!", she yelled, catching his attention.
He tilted his head and walked towards her, "not so tough now, are ya?"
Before he could grab her, she pulled on the trigger and shot him on the arm, which hardly did any damage. Once he saw the blood, he got mad and charged forward. He didn't have the chance to grab her though because a bullet went right through his head.
(Y/n) yelled and covered her eyes, crouching down so she won't get shot. B to what she didn't know is that Felix is the one who shot his Boss from the outside.
"It's alright. Don't look", Chan quickly ran over towards her and moved her away from the body.
Felix came in and asked if they were okay before heading towards the body to see if he was really dead.
He confirmed he was dead and checked his pockets.
"I told you to stay upstairs", Chan said, checking if she was injured.
"I know. I was just worried. I'm sorry", she said.
He sighed and told her to not worry about it before hugging her.
"Okay, so I'll call someone to take care of the body, they'll clean up here. You guys are off the hook now. You don't need to stay here anymore", Felix said.
"Oh....so we have to go back now?", she asked.
"Unless you guys want to stay here in this hot ass place. That would be crazy", he chuckled, glancing at Chan.
"Actually, I like it here. I don't mind the heat anymore, I just got a job, and I'm looking at colleges right now to continue my education. And I bought a fish. I'm not going anywhere", she said.
Felix looked over at Chan who kept holding his side. Only reason why no one is so worried about it is because he's always getting injured but he goes back to being himself the next day. It's like he could get stabbed a million times and he'd be smiling the next day.
"Oh my god, you got a wife", Felix said to him.
Chan glared at him, causing Felix to smirk. He told him he was going to talk to (y/n) alone so they went into her room.
"Hey, are you sure you want to stay here. We don't have to hide anymore", he said.
She sat down on her bed and nodded, "I know that. But I feel safe here. And you said you see me succeed in many things by living here. I'm getting somewhere I want to be. I'm not saying just because I want to stay here that you should. If you want to go back, I can't tell you to stay."
"Do you want me to stay here with you?", he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I mean....it would be nice....", she mumbled.
He kneeled in front of her and held her hands as he looked her in the eyes, "It would be wrong of me if I just left right after you kissed me like that."
Her cheeks turned red and embarrassment hit.
"Plus, I didn't die. So I guess I owe you one", he joked, smiling as she chuckled.
So after explaining everything to Felix, they started their new lives in Australia. Felix had to go back because he has family there but visits every now and then, even met someone in Australia.
~Two Years Later~
"Chaaaaaaaaaan!"
Running as fast as he could from the backyard, through the kitchen, up the stairs, and into their shared bedroom, he found (y/n) flat on the bed.
"What's wrong?", he asked, trying to catch his breath.
"Felix just sent me a message. He's having a baby with his girlfriend. She's pregnant", she said.
Usually that type of news would make anyone excited. But the tone in her voice sounded so...monotonous.
"And that's bad?", he asked.
Scoffing, she sat up on her elbows and gave him a look, "They beat us to it. I always thought I'd get pregnant first."
Chan's eyes widened and laughed awkwardly, "I thought we'd get married first. I mean, you still have two more years of school left. Didn't we agree to wait?"
"I know. I just don't want to be old when it happens", she said.
He chuckled and wrapped an arm around her.
"You're 24 years old. We're gonna be married by the time we're 26 or 27. We can try then. So you won't be old", he said.
"Wow we're actually sticking to that plan? Cool. Okay so what I was thinking is having our honeymoon in Japan. I really want to go there. Or we can go to Greece....actually no we can go anywhere as long as we're making babies. Imagine if I have twins?? One boy and one girl. They'll be like best friends...or enemies. Anyway, when I do get pregnant, I'm probably gonna crave a lot of pickles. I crave pickles now but I might crave them more and–"
"I love you", he interrupted her, smiling in adoration.
"I know that. I love you more. Like I was saying..."
(Y/n) went on and on about how her life would be when she's pregnant and how they're gonna get no sleep once the baby arrives. Their two year plan did not go through all the way because a year later she ended up getting pregnant. It surprised them but they were excited. As for the wedding, the got married when she was around 7 months pregnant.
She expected twins, all the time but only one baby came out of her, a baby boy. He looked more like Chan which she was jealous of.
The more time she spent with the baby, the more she realized it's hard being a first time mom. But Chan's always there to remind her that she's strong and that if she ever needs time to herself, he'll take charge. Even though he always does.
One thing he doesn't regret, having a different life with (y/n). They'll always cherish the old days but are loving the days ahead of them even more.
