Hyunlix: You're My Misfortune

Early in the morning, Hyunjin walked into the café where he worked. He went behind the counter to prepare for the customers that would be coming in shortly.

But Hyunjin was so tired and disoriented that he accidentally bumped into his fellow employee, Lee Felix.

The both of them bonked heads and took a step back from each other, holding their foreheads to try and relieve the pain.

Hyunjin growled and glared up at Felix, rubbing his head.

"Hey watch where you're going Yongbok!"

Felix glared back at Hyunjin and took a step closer, pointing an accusing finger at him.

"Don't call me that! Also, you bumped into me! Pompous jerk!" He retorted before turning to grab the keys to the café doors.

Hyunjin let out an annoyed huff and glared at Felix as he walked past and unlocked the doors.

As Felix walked back to the counter, Hyunjin smirked and whispered a spell under his breath.

As a result of Hyunjin's magic, Felix slipped and fell harshly onto his butt.

Hyunjin burst out laughing as Felix rubbed his tailbone, groaning softly.

"Having a nice fall Felix?" He sneered, winking cutely at Felix.

Felix rolled his eyes and got off of the floor, marching behind the counter and adjusting his apron determinedly.

"Shut up Hyunjin. Just get to work, people are already coming in!" He hissed, gesturing to the customers already filing in and pushing Hyunjin over to the cash register.

Hyunjin sighed and gave a fake smile to the lady looking at him expectantly, trying to mask his annoyance as he took her order.

From then on, the rest of day went smoothly for the most part until the end of the day came and Hyunjin and Felix had to close up the café together.

Hyunjin stretched and hung up his apron, eager to get out of the café as quickly as possible until Felix smacked the back of his head.

Hyunjin turned to face him while rubbing the back of his head, an angry glare on his face.

"What was that for?!"

Felix held out the café keys, dangling them in front of Hyunjin's face.

"It's your turn to lock up the café tonight."

Hyunjin groaned and gave the keys a disgusted look.

"Do I have to? I have more important things to do at home."

Felix nodded and placed the keys down on the counter.

"Of course you have to do it! It's your turn! Also, have you ever considered that maybe I have more important things that I'd rather be doing too?"

Hyunjin laughed and looked Felix up and down incredulously.

"Like what? Scrounging around in the trash for an outfit?"

Felix shook his head in annoyance and brushed past Hyunjin, stopping at the door and turning to face him.

"I'm not playing this game with you Hyunjin, just stop being a bitch and lock up the café." He snapped before storming out into the dark.

Hyunjin glared at Felix's fleeting figure and gave him the middle finger.

Then he grabbed the keys from the counter and walked out of the café, locking up the doors and driving back to his own apartment.

Later that night, Hyunjin was busy messing around with his potions and studying for his spell exams when he discovered a very interesting spell.

The spell was called, "Curse Of Misfortune" and it could be bestowed on an item and given to an enemy to make them have horrible misfortune for as long as they carried around the cursed object.

Hyunjin immediately thought of Felix and an evil grin crossed his lips.

"Why not get a little bit of revenge? That brat deserves it after all." Hyunjin murmured to himself, taking an old necklace from his desk and placing it down on the floor in a circle drawn with chalk.

Then Hyunjin murmured the spell, focusing all of his energy into the spell and smiling when he saw the necklace's amulet turn dark purple.

Hyunjin picked up the necklace off the floor and studied it proudly. "I can't wait to see how cursed he's going to become! That's why you don't mess with a witch, my dear Felix!" He cackled to himself before going back to studying.

The next day, Hyunjin showed up at the café early. He made sure to clean everything with his magic and unlock the doors to prepare for Felix's arrival. Then he waited eagerly for his fellow employee to come, a mischievous grin on his face.

When Felix walked inside, he glanced around suspiciously at the spotless café before walking over to Hyunjin.

"Did you do this?"

Hyunjin nodded and smiled innocently.

"Yeah I did. I just felt really bad about our fight yesterday and I wanted to do something to make up for it."

Felix's expression softened and he smiled at Hyunjin, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"You didn't have to do that Hyunjin but I'm really happy that you did, it means a lot to me."

Hyunjin shrugged nonchalantly and studied his fingernails distractedly.

"It wasn't a big deal. I just wanted to smooth things over between us. Also, my sister has this necklace that she doesn't want anymore and I think you'd look really nice with it." Hyunjin explained, pulling the necklace out of his pocket and showing it to Felix.

Felix's eyes widened and he studied it in awe. "Wow! It's so pretty! Are you sure you want me to have it?"

Hyunjin nodded and put it over Felix's head, smiling proudly as the purple crystal glinted underneath the café lights.

"It looks great on you!" He lied, patting Felix's shoulder playfully.

"Thank you so much Hyunjin. I don't know what to say!" Felix babbled, grasping the amulet and smiling at Hyunjin.

Hyunjin waved Felix off and winked. "Don't worry about it! Now get to work! We have customers to attend to!"

Felix nodded and walked over to the cash register.

Hyunjin watched Felix as they worked and the amulet took affect immediately, everything that Felix did was plagued with misfortunes.

When he tried to serve a woman her coffee, he tripped over nothing and spilled it all over her. The woman forgave him, but Felix's other misfortunes were bigger and more devastating.

By the end of the day, Felix had ended up breaking the coffee machine, two chairs, and slipped or tripped six times.

As they closed up, Felix let out a tired sigh and ruffled his hair.

"I've been having such bad luck today! Hopefully things will get better tomorrow." He mumbled to himself, taking off his apron and hanging it up on the rack only to have the rack break.

Felix cringed and gently set the rack down on the floor.

"I'll see you tomorrow Felix! I have to go home and study!" Hyunjin called before walking out of the café and over to his car with glee.

Felix nodded enthusiastically and grabbed the keys off the counter, locking up the café and then heading home for the night.

The next day, Felix rushed into the café glancing everywhere anxiously and dashing into Hyunjin's arms.

Hyunjin chuckled and patted Felix's back. "What's gotten into you Felix?"

Felix looked fearfully up at Hyunjin, gripping onto his apron.

"I think I'm cursed Hyunjin! Everything keeps going wrong for me! Just today I got calls about college and they were all rejections! What am I going to do?!" Felix whispered, burying his face into Hyunjin's chest.

Hyunjin stroked Felix's hair softly and smiled. "You don't know that for a fact Felix. I think you're just being paranoid."

Felix slowly looked up at Hyunjin. "Do you really think so?"

Hyunjin nodded and pulled Felix into a quick hug. "Yeah. Just wait a while, your bad luck will go away eventually."

Felix hummed and was just about to say something when his phone rang.

"Give me a second Hyunjin." He murmured, pulling out his phone and listening to the person on the other end.

When the person had finished talking Felix hung up and began sobbing.

Hyunjin's eyes widened and he tapped Felix on the shoulder. "What's wrong Felix?"

Felix turned to face him and tears streamed down his cheeks.

"My cousin just died in the war today."

Hyunjin's mouth dropped open in surprise and he pulled Felix into another hug, panic and guilt building in his chest.

"I'm so sorry Felix." He murmured, rubbing soft circles on Felix's back to try and calm him down.
