Taehyung had to reluctantly let Hyejoo’s hand go before entering the door knowing if his parents knew about their potential relationship Hyejoo would feel pressured. Knowing his mother she would plan their wedding as well as trips for the children they would have. He sighed letting go of Hyejoo’s hand making her laugh, reaching up to ruffle his hair before leaving him by the door.
They sat at the dinner family the sounds of cutlery scraping against one another filling the room and the occasional murmurs of Googie asking Hyejoo for help in cutting the food in his plate. Soon Mr Kim started a conversation about the business and Taehyung hoped they wouldn’t start with his career choice again. “I heard the recent project went very well, son.” Mr Kim informed Jin about the outcomes he had heard. “Ah yes, its all thanks to Hyejoo.” Jin smiled and Mr Kim complimented Hyejoo for her hard work. “Even she is in the family business.” Mr Kim murmured to his wife who nodded making Taehyung grit his teeth. Hyejoo started conversing with Googie to avoid what was going on and Jin reminded his parents they had a guest. Every so often Hyejoo looked up at Tae who had his eyes focused on his plate his tongue pocking his inner cheek in annoyance.
When they had finished their dinner, Taehyung had been asked to stay back with his parents as Jin, Hyejoo and Googie sat in the living room. Hyejoo tried to focus on her son who was mumbling on about something as he counted his fingers, but she couldn’t help but worry about Tae who looked angry with his parents. Jin got out some Jenga bricks to play with Googie and Hyejoo, allowing Hyejoo to no longer be distracted.
Meanwhile Taehyung sat across from his parents, looking at them with no emotion knowing what was to come. “Son why don’t you stop with the phase and join the business.” Mrs Kim smiled at her son like her words were not making Taehyung lose his calm. “I like being a teacher mum.” He sighed ruffling his hair in the process. “Son just join the business I’ll give you your own branch as soon as you sign the papers." Mr Kim attempted to persuade Taehyung.
“For the last time, I don’t want to join the damn business its not for me. I love kids and want to work with them.” Taehyung raised his voice pushing his chair back in the process ready to leave. “Watch your tone young man. Me and your mother are just looking out for you, being a teacher for mere infants won’t get you anywhere.” This time Mr Kim raised his voice as he stopped Taehyung from leaving. “I don’t care about the money!” Taehyung growled shrugging off his father’s arms pushing the doors open and leaving.
Hyejoo looked up as she heard Taehyung raise his voice turning to look at Jin to see if everything was okay. Googie gasped when he heard Mr Kim shout back and shrunk back in his seat holding his palms against his ears; after the incident with Hajoon any screaming made the child scared. Hyejoo smiled at her son stroking his hair calming him down as Jin got up to stop the commotion, rather embarrassed by the way his family was acting.
Before he could stop the commotion, Taehyung had put it to an end by harshly pushing the door open followed by grabbing his coat and leaving. Jin shook his head at his parents who stood in between the dining room and living room. “Jin can you watch Googie for a while.” She asked and went after Tae, Googie being fine with it seeing as though his Taetae was upset.
Hyejoo grabbed a coat and ran down the street to find Taehyung, her legs were shorter than his so it would take a while to catch up. She assumed Taehyung would have gone to the bakery, but she saw a lone figure in the park sitting on the partially broken-down swing set. Taehyung rocked him self front and back on the rusted swing, eventually stopping to kick the sand under his shoes. “Tae.” Hyejoo cautiously called out standing in front of him but he avoided looking up at her. “Its stupid that the argument started on my job, it’s like I’m eighteen again.” He gave off a sarcastic chuckle.
“It’s not stupid Tae. Your passionate about your job and I admire that.” She lifted his hands, so she was holding them in hers. “Why don’t they get that. They have Jin in the business why do they need me. I don’t care about money, I’m happy with what I do” He sighed. Hyejoo walked closer hugging his crouched body, stroking his brown locks. Taehyung tightened his hands around her resting his face just below her chest as she consoled him. “Sometimes parents think they know best, but as long as you know your happy just ignore them. You have nothing to prove to them.” She advised from her own experience on giving up on showing her father that having Googie was the best thing that happened to her.
“Thankyou, Hyejoo.” He smiled at her his usual smile and stood up so he was towering her small figure. He cupped her face kissing her forehead before walking in the direction opposite to his house. He wanted to walk around before going back home. Hyejoo walked with hand in hand with Tae as he dragged her to God knows where.
He ended up taking Hyejoo to his old high school, telling her how he would skive some of his lessons by jumping over so and so gate and his parents had no idea. He took her round and pointed at one of the windows saying that was his art classroom and described how his teacher had changed his life making him want to work as a teacher who could do art with kids allowing them to express themselves. Hyejoo nodded admiring Taehyung's love for kids and how he loved his job and not for the holidays.
When they returned home Googie jumped off the sofa and hugged Taehyung. “Are you okay now Taetae.” He asked worried checking his face to make sure the elder had not cried. “I’m okay sweetie.” He smiled stroking Googies head as an appreciation for his affection. “Well done mama.” He praised his mother for making Taehyung happy again. Now that Hyejoo and Tae back Jin took his parents to one of he other rooms tired of the way were treating Taehyung.
