Today was show and tell, Taehyung thought it was a great way to get to know kids and get them excited for school. This was one of the many reasons that Googie was overly excited to come to school, another being he could meet Mr Kim.

Googie didn’t know why but he felt some attachment towards him. While Hyejoo was sleeping Googie had packed two of his favourite toys in his backpack to show his classmates. On the way to school that was all Googie talked about and Hyejoo knew that it would be the same on the way home.

Jungkook placed his face in his hands a bored expression on his face as Seung-woo went on and on about his Lego millennium falcon his dad bought him. Googie had a small pout on his lips as he continued to swing his legs in boredom under the table. Meanwhile the other kids listened in fascination as Seung-woo continued to brag about other expensive toys his father had gotten him.

Seung-woo was part of a very high-class family, his father being an owner of a big law firm. Most of the parents in the class knew who his father was, while the kids knew him as the man who came in the cool car.
When Seung-woo had finally finished it was Googie’s turn and he gladly walked to the front with his two toys.

Googie first showed a slightly old bunny plushie, despite being in good condition due to the slight faded colour aswell as the pink patch on the ear, from when the bunny had been torn and some stuffing had fallen out you could tell it was old. “This is Koo-koo, my mum got him for me when I was a baby and that is why he is very special to me,” he spoke showing around the off grey bunny to the class.

The bunny was fluffy, with a satin blue ribbon around its neck, with a peachy pink coloured nose which poked out the fur. “And this is the Iron man toy Uncle Chim got for me,” he continued showing the iron man to the class with the other hand, the smile never leaving his face.

Mr Kim was now more interested, he knew Googie was a considerate kid, but he loved how he appreciated the small things. Other children had bought their best, newest toys to show-off, while Googie bought something which was meaningful.

“Why doesn’t your father get you anything?” Seung-woo’s question shocked Taehyung. “I don’t have a papa, that’s why Mamabun works harder for me.” Googie spoke with a smile, despite feeling slightly uncomfortable. “My mother said children who have no father are children of bad women,” he slightly snickered, causing Taehyung to stand up from his seat to tell Seung-woo to be polite in the nicest way possible.

Taehyung understood why his mother said such a thing, she was a woman born into a high-class family then married to a richer family. They didn’t understand that not all single mothers were low class women who slept around, but those who had been used due to their vulnerability. Googie sat down on his chair once again his wondering elsewhere else despite it looked like he was interested in the child that was speaking.

For the rest of the day Googie had stayed quiet, doing his own thing. When some children who didn’t care what Seung-woo had said came to talk to Googie he slyly went away to another corner where he could be alone. He was sad, and Mr Kim had clearly noticed. Though when Mr Kim went over to talk to him, he smiled saying he was fine and continued to play with the Lego.

Mr Kim pitied Googie, tho pity may not be the right word to describe what he felt for the poor child. When he learnt through the presentation, he was the child of a young single mum he felt slightly more attached to him, maybe he because he was so pure and considerate compared to other children.

It was once again nap time and Googie was at his desk drawing a picture of Uncle Chim’s new car, just like he had promised yesterday. “Mr Kim is it okay to eat the snack my mama gave me?” he asked his small doe eyes slightly sparkling. His eyes added to his cute outfit making it hard for Taehyung to say no, not that he was going to. He was wearing a white shirt with light blue jeans, a grey wool sweater on top to keep him warm on the walk home.

Seeing how upset he was today Taehyung wanted to do anything he could to see him smile like he had done in the morning. He nodded a yes as he continued to go through the different artwork the class had done today. Googie took out a small box from his bag and opened it, a sweet smell filled Taehyungs nose. If it were a cartoon you would be see the whiff of smoke taking to Taehyung to the sweet treat Googie was eating. He turned to see Googie eating a slice of strawberry shortcake, the smile from the morning returned.

A small figure ran into the room, running past the other children some of which were crying to a tall figure who was by his desk. Mr Kim looked up when he heard the sound of running coming towards him, only to see Googie looking happy just like day before. His smile was wide showing his bunny teeth, his eyes slightly squinted. “Mr Kim, good morning!” he exclaimed making Taehyung smile too. “Mr Kim will you please help me I don’t want Mamabun to be late again.” He pouted, his cheeks dropping. “Of course,” and with that he bent down to meet Googie’s height helping him remove his coat. The smile once again displayed on his face as he told Mr Kim about the cat café they had been to yesterday and how Hyejoo had scared the cat away causing Taehyung to chuckle.

The memory of this morning making him smile. It wasn’t very common to get a student who stayed happy as much as Googie. Seeing him slightly smile again gave him a sort of spark of happiness and he didn’t know why. Of course, seeing any child happy automatically made Taehyung smile but for Googie it was different, seeing him happy gave him that little bubble of happiness which may be been missing but he didn’t know how to explain that because he didn’t know why himself.

“That smells nice, what you are eating?” Taehyung asked as he sat down despite knowing what it was. “Strawberry shortcake Mamabun made.” He replied licking the crème off his lips, as he continued to chew bunny style. “Your mother made?” Taehyung asked surprised, not that she looked like she couldn’t cook it was just it looked really professional. Googie nodded as he savoured every bite, pushing his other slice towards Taehyung to eat.

The two of them sat at table taking time to enjoy each morsel while the other children were literally passed out. “Mr Kim why did Seung-woo’s mum say that people like my mama are bad women. My mama would never hurt anyone, is she really bad?” he asked a few tears welding up in his eyes, at the thought of his mother being labelled as a bad woman. He sniffled his red nose, looking up to Taehyung with teary eyes waiting for his reply. Instead of being embarrassed by what happened, he was worried about his mother, could this kid get any cuter? “No! People like seung-woo’s mother don’t understand the problems of the real word. I’m sure your mama is an extremely sweet person.” He spoke wiping Googie’s tears and bringing him into a hug. Googie sniffled in the hug, trying to hold onto Mr Kim with his small hands.

The hug felt warm, it wasn’t like the hugs he usually he received, it felt different. Soon after the hug Googie looked up with to Mr Kim with a smile, happier than before. “Thankyou Mr Kim for making me feel better, please don’t tell mama tho.” He requested with pleading eyes to which Taehyung nodded. “Pinkie promise?” Googie asked holding out his small pinkie out. Taehyung nodded wrapping his larger pinkie around Googie’s, chuckling at the size difference to which even Googie giggled.

Helping children feel happy again was one of the best parts of the job and helping one like Googie was a bonus. He felt a little protective over Googie, maybe because he was a child of a young single mother or because he was one of the smallest and youngest in the class. Yes, he would be attached to children but never this much. Googie was clearly a unique child.

The day had ended and Hyejoo was the first to enter the classroom. She had always wanted to pick up her child from school, on time. With her job she knew it would be difficult so when she finished it on time, she was so excited to be there, first. Googie ran to her giving her a hug as she gave him a kiss helping him to put on his coat and backpack. With that she smiled at Taehyung while Googie waved goodbye and left. Hugging Koo-koo in one hand and holding Hyejoo’s hand in the other, he told her about his day skipping out the part where he had been embarrassed.

I'm sorry if the plot seems to be going too slowly but dont worry Tae will have more moments wih Hyejoo :)
