| Epilogue |

“Tae can you go wake Googie for me please.” She asked as she rushed to make breakfast. Taehyung left the room to go wake up Googie as Hyejoo ran around the kitchen placing the food on the table, her five-year-old son in her arms due to being tired. Taehyung looked at the sleeping Googie who looked so peaceful, a bit of drool dribbling down his cheek, his mouth open as he held onto his ear a habit from childhood. “Googie wake up Sarang is waiting.” With those words Googies eyes opened, wide exactly as he struggled to push the covers mumbling ‘shit’. Taehyung walked into the kitchen smiling innocently at his wife before pecking her lips and taking their son Taemin off her.

“Mamabun, tell Sarang to wait I’m sorry.” Googie screamed as he ran from his room to the bathroom almost tripping on the rug, making Taehyung snicker. Hyejoo crossed her arms at her husband who had pulled a prank on their son, Tae looking away as he bit his bottom lip. “Googie sweetie your dad was messing with you, come have breakfast.” She called out to her son who walked into the room glaring at Tae before pouting his lips to tattletale to his mother as he hugged her good morning.

Nothing had changed, except for the fact that Googie was now sixteen. Taehyung and Hyejoo had gotten married and had a son a few years later when Googie had become ready to share his mother. From afar or up close no one could tell that Taehyung wasn’t Googies father. To Googie Taehyung was his dad and always would be for a man who had abandoned him and his mother was no father to him. Taemin was only five looking more like Taehyung than Hyejoo except for the fact that his eyes were hazel like hers.  There would be times where the two boys would fight for their mothers attention Taehyung swooping in saying he was first since he was her husband only to have Hyejoo push him away and cuddle her sons.

Googie rushed his breakfast to get changed in time before Sarang came; it was their first date today. The two had continued to be friends, Googie remaining the shy boy he was despite being popular among the girls, but he only had eyes for Sarang. Yet it was Sarang who had confessed first and therefore they were going on a date this weekend. To say he was nervous was beyond it, Hyejoo and Taehyung remembering his red face when he had come back after Sarang had asked him out. Hyejoo had thought he had caught a cold until Googie shyly confessed how he would be going on a date this weekend, making Hyejoo squeal in joy while Tae gave Googie a bro hug.

“Dad! I don’t know what to wear help me.” He shouted, Taehyung running to his room to help. Hyejoo laughed at how her son panicked just like her when she had her first date with Tae. “He is only meeting Sarang why has Googie gone crazy?” Taemin asked tilting his head as he held onto his stripy blanket, walking to hide behind his mother. “It’s different this time Min.” she held onto her sons shoulder as she walked around him to put the dishes which the two men had left.

“Like I said be a gentleman but don’t forget to maintain your cool and Googie try and make the first move okay.” Taehyung gave Googie some advice only to be cut off by Hyejoo’s laughter. She sat beside her son holding his hands, “Just be your sweetie she likes you for who you are.” “No Googie listen to me that’s how I won your mother, my flirting skills.” He stood in front of Googie sending a wink to Hyejoo making Googie give a look of disgust. “Puh-lease I didn’t even know you were flirting.” Hyejoo scoffed still blushing at the fact her husband of several years had winked at her, before turning to give Googie advice. Googie listened attentively before the doorbell rang making him panic that he felt he may throw up.

Hyejoo went to open the door to see Sarang dressed in a knee length off white dress. She wore a pastel pink bag which crossed over her body, half her hair let down while the other was tied up. “You look beautiful sweetie, Googie will be here soon.” She let her in before hugging her. To Sarang Hyejoo was like a second mother due to the amount of time she spent with her, while to Hyejoo she was the daughter she never had which would occasionally make Googie jealous.

Googie walked in following Tae wearing loose denim jeans, a black t-shirt tucked in and plaid open shirt as a jacket. “Looking good Googie boy.” She smiled making the younger boy blush, the nickname from nursery still used. As Googie bent down to hug his mother he mouthed to Taehyung ‘shorty’ making him chuckle. Meanwhile Sarang gave Taemin a hug and kissed his cheek, “bye my little prince.” Googie who heard this rolled his eyes making Sarang tease him about his jealousy.

Being the gentleman, he was taught to be he opened the door for Sarang, then going ahead to place their orders as she sat at the table. As the owner was a friend of Jimin, he had a table reserved for Googies date. Googies first date was a big celebration for their small family, Hyejoo was quick to inform her bestfriend that her son had a date. Googie sat down opposite Sarang rubbing his palms on his jeans, they were sweaty due to his nervousness. The two ate and talked just as they usually did the spark between them more evident than before.

Meanwhile Taehyung was more stressed out than Hyejoo for Googie. He paced forwards and backwards biting at his nails, Hyejoo watching from the living room couch with Taemin in her lap who was half awake. “Let’s go spy on him, what if he needs help.” Taehyung spoke ready to grab his coat and leave until Hyejoo shouted for him to sit his bottom back down.

“Okay okay, let me just go get my phone from the bedroom.” Taehyung exhaled defeatedly. “You will not call Jimin to spy on our son for you.” She crossed her arms, her eyebrows raised to show she was serious. The latter did as he was told slouching onto the couch, lips pouted in despair one arm wrapped around his wife’s waist murmuring something over the fact on ‘how could she not worry when it was their sons first date.’

The couple on the other hand were having a great time. They had finished eating, both of them thanking the owner for the special treatment before going to the park they often found themselves at. Googie hesitantly slid his hand into hers, smiling when she squeezed back. The two walked through the park, the summer breeze blowing the smells of daisies and fresh doughnuts from the stand a little ahead. As Googie was about to ask her if she wanted some, a few boys rushed past laughing in mischief as an old man from behind who was dressed in a grey suit which matched the colour of his hair shouted. “Bloody fools, bastard children.” He shouted after them his voice cracking soon after followed by a few coughs. Googie and Sarang noticed his briefcase and papers fallen decided to help him by picking it up.

As Googie gathered his papers, having to chase after some Sarang handed the man his briefcase making him smile at their manners. “It’s good to see children like you exist, your parents clearly raised you right.” The voice was somewhat familiar to him, looking to face the man Googie’s face hardened. “Well of course my mother is your child after all.” He sneered before takings Sarangs hand and walking away. Minjun’s smiles fell as Googie walked away from him not listening to his shouts.

Sarang allowed Googie’s head to rest on her shoulder as she stroked his hands, Googie who still had teeth clenched slowly bit the inside of his lip inside. He regretted speaking so rudely, but he couldn’t help it, that man had caused his mother cry many tears. While other women had their father walk them down the aisle, Hyejoo had Jimin and her brother. Googie may had only been around the age of nine at the time but he remembered how his mother had cried to sleep continuous nights including the night before the wedding when her father said he wouldn’t be attending . He couldn’t help but slightly hate this man who made his mother cry; his existence being the fault of that.

Sarang understood who the man was and why Googie was reacting the way he was, she was one of the people who knew him best. She allowed him to calm down no mater how long it took, resting her head on top of his. “I’m sorry, for ruining our date.” He looked down ashamed, regretting the fact that he allowed his anger to take over him. “Its okay Googie boy, the dates not over yet.” She smiled making Googie smile back, his bunny teeth on show. This was one of the many reasons he had fallen for her, she was genuine, caring and did everything to make him feel better. She was one to prioritise others before herself and he wanted to be the one to prioritise her before himself and anything else.

It was almost sunset and Googie was dropping off Sarang to her house just like he had promised her brother, something he was planning to do anyway. The two still held hands walking in silence up her pathway, a silence which was comforting just knowing they were together was enough. “I had a great first date thankyou Googie boy.” She kissed his cheek before turning to open the door. “Sarang wait, I really like you. Would you like to be my girlfriend?” he asked rubbing his nape with the back of his palm as he tried to watch her facial expression, his face already red. “you don’t even have to ask.” She let out a small laugh, kissing his cheek again and going inside as she had noticed her brother watch from the window.

Before Googie entered the door, he fanned his face to reduce to his flushed face. He entered trying to control his smile to see Taehyung sitting backwards on the couch watching the door, Hyejoo relived that he was back since Taehyung was being so extra. He widened his eyes to receive a perceptive look from his father. Hyejoo got up from her seat making her way to hug her son, who was much taller than her, so she only reached his chest. As she let go, she cupped his face turning it left and right, furrowing her eyebrows in thought. “something happened.” she smirked making Googie groan over how his efforts were put to waste.

Googie then informed his parents how the date had went ignoring the bit where he had met his grandad. When he mentioned the bit where he made the first move to hold her hand, Taehyung gave him a fist bump, little Taemin copying not knowing why but just did it anyway. The moment Googie mentioned the peck on the cheek and the fact it happened twice Hyejoo couldn’t stop smiling, which soon changed to tears over how her son was growing up. Taehyung and Googie teasing her for it while Taemin hugged his mother calling the other two bullies earning his mothers love and attention.
