Episode Nine: A Brother To Me Is...
9-1
-Normal P.O.V.-
(Chika Middle School, Class 3-B)
During lunchtime, Ana looked at the view outside through the window; slowly drifting away...and let out a heavy sigh. It was very unusual of her, especially when she entered the classroom alone, without her sister. She had no friends unlike her opposite twin. For her, the only friend that she will and always have would be Yuri. You could say that she's very quiet and shy too. She wasn't good at this 'be my friend' thing. On the other hand, with her brother's presence in the house, she became a totally different person. Noisy, annoying and most of all, she turned into a hot-headed person.
Her brother....
Yes, she probably felt guilty about what'd happened that morning. It's been a week since it happened.
"After all these years, you've ignored me, distant yourself and now you've chosen to be my brother...? If that's what you think a brother is, then you're mistaken!"
She bit her lower lip in distress as she tried to hide her tears.
"Why...Why am I always so angry?!" she thought to herself. "Since when did I started acting like this??"
She sighed.
"It's so stupid..!!"
"Hmm? What's so stupid?!" Yuri suddenly appeared beside her, out of nowhere.
"Y-Yu-Yuri..?!!" Ana was flustered. "Nothing..!! Don't scare me like that, sheesh!"
"Hey, Ana? Don't tell me..."
"I-I'm not worried at all. I wasn't even thinking about him just now, it's TRUE!!"
"Him? You mean big bro??"
"W-Wait, what? You weren't just talking about him?!!"
"N..No, Ana...that's not it," Yuri felt the awkwardness.
Ana covered her red face with her hands; embarrassed as she'd just told Yuri about something that she was trying to keep a secret.
"I'M SO STUPID...!!!" *Ana's inner self*
"Anyway, big bro...he just sent me a text. See?" Yuri handed her phone to Ana.
She took the phone. A little envious of Yuri.
"He didn't even sent me one..." she thought.
She brushed her hair and put it behind her left ear. She read the message.
"What...?!!"

-Ana's P.O.V.-
Ding, Dong Ding Dong!!
(School Bell)
The last bell sounded. It's the end of another school day. Finally, the weekend. I need to go home real quick. That idiot's making me worried all day!! I can't believe he caught a cold..!!!
I packed my things; literally dumping them inside my school bag. While I was at it, Akiyama Midori, a classmate called out to me.
"Kiriya-san, are you free right now? We actually needed you to help us with the upcoming track and field event. You were in the national championships last year, right?"
I paused. It was the first time someone had asked me a favour. I couldn't say anything; my face turned bright red again. As if I was about to explode. My lips trembled; trying to make sense out of my words but I kept holding them back. Should I say no? Could I even say it?! I hate myself right now.
"Kiriya-san, you're really shy huh?" Midori smiled.
I kept silent. My whole face was starting to ignite even more.
"Ana, let's go home." Yuri patted my shoulder. "Midori-chan? Oh, did I interrupt your conversation?!"
"No, not at all. I was just asking her if she could help the track and field team for the upcoming event. What do you say, Kiriya-san?" Midori turned her attention to me.
I looked at Yuri; signalling her to reject the offer for me. Yuri smirked.
"She'll totally do it!"
"Really? Is that true??" Midori was overjoyed as she took my hand by impulse.
I took a glance at Yuri, who was giving me a thumbs up. I clicked my tongue; annoyed with her child-like attitude.
"Umm...Aki..yama-san..?" I mumbled.
"Please..call me Midori!! We've been classmates for three straight years now," she smiled excitedly.
T..Three years? Really?! I thought it was just for this year...
"Look, I can't..." I said under my breath.
"Hmm?"
She's giving me the sparkling pleading eyes. Now it's getting hard to push her away.
"Midori-chan, unfortunately she has to run an errand today so she can't. You'll have practice tomorrow too, right? She'll be there, I promise." Yuri said.
"Okay, then I'll see you tomorrow, Ana-chan~" she waved goodbye. "Thank you!"
Ana. She called me 'Ana-chan'. An odd feeling was felt in my chest. My heart was mysteriously racing. And an ecstatic sensation was building up as I smiled to wave her goodbye. So, this is the so-called friendship. I like it. Very much...
"Looks like someone's finally got a friend," Yuri teased as she poked my right cheek.
"Mind your own business!! And why the hell did you sign me up for that..!!" I was suddenly reminded by Yuri's playfulness.
Yuri just knocked her head lightly, winked and stuck her tongue out; letting out a 'teehee-klutz' laugh.

(At Home)
"H..Hnghh...?!" Yoshino woke up from his slumber; slowly opening his eyes.
"Are you feeling any better now..?" a sweet, delicate voice was heard.
Yoshino turned to his right and saw the beautiful figure sitting next to him. Her eyes, shimmering under the orange-red sunset penetrating through the window. That was when he realised that the girl was actually...
"A-Ana...What're you doing here..in my room?" he asked weakly.
"Don't get me wrong! I'm just here because Yuri told me to and nothing else...!!" she quickly explained.
"I see...if you didn't say that I could've assumed that you were worried about me...heh.."
"Who'd be stupid enough to worry about you?!!"
There she goes again. All those harsh words were slipping out of her lips. She didn't mean it. Really. Somehow, she just couldn't help it...she couldn't be honest with her feelings. Her brother should hate her by now but he was laughing instead. Why?
"Where's she anyway?"
"Tsk! She just went out shopping, okay? Don't ask me so many questions..!!" Ana was frustrated.
-Yoshino's P.O.V.-
The room was quiet. I looked around; my body was still aching. Ana avoided making eye contact. I guess she really didn't want to be here.
"Ana, you can just..."
"Why...didn't you tell me..?"
"Huh?!"
"Why didn't you tell me?!" she repeated as she looked deeply into my eyes.
"Uhh..well I-I thought you...didn't want me to have your number.." I scratched my head awkwardly.
Her eyes grew bigger.
"R-Really...?" she mumbled.
That's strange. She's not mad at me. I noticed that she's not being her usual self. Something must've been bothering her. I wonder. Ana clenched her silver butterfly necklace tightly with her eyes glittering in the light. That necklace...it looks quite familiar, though. Where've I seen it before?
"Um...I..there's something that I..." Ana tried to make eye contact again.
I could see her trembling but she tried to hide it.
"W..What is it?"
"Umm..n-no..it's nothing."
"Okay then."
Well, that was awkward.
"A..Ana..?" I called while coughing.
"Yes, what is it?" Ana came closer to me.
I smiled.
"W-Why are you smiling at me like that, you pervert?!"
"It's nothing. I'm just happy that's all!"
"!!" Ana gasped as she turned scarlet. "You idiot, I'm not Yuri...!!"
"Of course you're not. Ana. You're Kiriya Ana, my little sister."
"Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?" Ana was obviously confused. "It's always been about Yuri, isn't that how it's supposed to be?!"
-Ana's P.O.V.-
He pulled me closer to him and wrapped his arms around my neck as my head landed on his right shoulder. It was warm. I've been longing for this my whole life. His fingers ran through every single piece of my golden hair.
"Idiot! Why do you like to assume that? That's not true at all." his voice a little louder; echoing the room.
I gasped, shocked with what I had heard.
"Yuri is Yuri and Ana is Ana, right? The only reason that I decided to distant myself from you was...you're really precious but fragile at the same time. I didn't want to break you!!"
"Idiot, you're being too close to me. At this rate, I'm going to catch your cold.." I blushed.
"You deserve it anyway."
"What..w-why?"
"This is a punishment for you. You're the main reason for making me sick to start with!" he pulled me closer again.
"M-Me?" I was confused.
"Yeah, you. Because of you, I couldn't get enough rest for a week!"
"How's that my fault?!"
"I..I was actually up worrying about you." he looked away.
Really? He really felt that about me?! Does that mean he felt guilty too...? I looked up to him. His face was red; probably because of the fever. Getting warmer, by the second. And again...I tried to say it...I just wanted him to know...
"Uhh..about...that night...?" I tried to say it calmly.
"That night?"
"Yea..umm...t-t..tha..thank..."
KREEEKK...!! The door opened eerily. It was Yuri. She's back.
"E-Eh? Did..I interrupt...b-both of you?!" Yuri gave out an awkward look.
It was embarassing to be seen like this. He was still hugging my head close to him!
"Yu-Yuri!!? It's not what you think..!" I tried to explain as I escaped his grip but it was a failed attempt. It was just too strong.
"Really? O..Okay then," Yuri assured but she really didn't seem to buy it.
"Oh, Yuri. Welcome back!" he greeted calmly.
"What're you up to, big bro? You know that's not fair..." Yuri's eyes darkened as she smiled creepily.
Oh no! Yuri's possessive traits are showing...This is bad.
"It's nothing. Ana was about to tell me something. What was it again?" he was definitely calm.
"!!" I shuddered. "I-I'm not going to repeat!!" I was leaving.
Well, that killed the mood. I was so close, yet I still couldn't tell him. I decided to give it up and tell him next time. If there is a next time, that is.
"But you didn't even get to say it."
"W-Whatever..!!" I commented.
"Ana, where're you going?" Yuri asked.
"I've no reason to stay, now that your back."
I shut the door behind me. My heart was still racing as I placed my left hand on my chest. I felt slightly calmer at the steady rhythm. I wonder why; I couldn't help myself from smiling.
"Yuri is Yuri and Ana is Ana, right?" his voice was echoing in my head.
"That fool..." I thought as I walked back to my room.

(The Next Day)
"Ana, hurry up. I'll wait outside, okay?" Yuri's voice was heard.
"Umm..yeah! I'll be right there, just a minute!!"
I was still upstairs, getting ready to leave. Yesterday, Yuri made a promise to Akiyama-san that I'll go help them today. I looked at myself in the mirror and couldn't help noticing that my butterfly necklace was nowhere to be found around my neck. It was a priceless possession, I can't lose it. It was from someone very dear to me. I was late, so I decided to leave it for later. I walked past his room. The door was opened slightly.
KREEKK..! I entered the room without hesitation. It was still dark as the curtains prevented the light from entering. There. I saw him. He was still sleeping soundly on his bed. I came closer to feel his temperature with my forehead. He's still running a fever, though. I placed my head on his right shoulder, just like yesterday, and stared at his peaceful face.
That was when I saw something in his right hand. I slowly opened it. It was indeed my butterfly necklace! I took it off his hand and wore it on my neck. It must've slid through my neck when he hugged me.
"Seriously, you're such an idiot..." I whispered as I leaned down to him.
My heart was racing and beating non-stop...closer...and closer to him...I shut my eyes slowly as I drew closer to give him a small peck on his warm cheek. My face was burning in embarrassment. But I want his love so bad. Even if he didn't know it. It'll just be a secret. No one should know it. Not even Yuri...
"Ana, c'mon! We're so late..!!" Yuri shouted from downstairs.
Yuri! I totally forgot about her. I quickly got up and left the room. But before I left, I scratched some writings with a pen on a paper and put it in his right hand. I caressed his sloppy morning hair; thanking him with the title he deserved.
"Sleep tight now. Thank you...big brother," I smiled.
I shut the door gently and ran downstairs to meet Yuri.
"So-Sorry, Yuri."
"Haah..Seriously, Ana. What were you doing up there? You're taking way too much time." she scolded.
"I couldn't help it! My necklace went missing so I went to look for it."
"Necklace? You mean 'this'?" she showed me her matching clover-shaped necklace.
I nodded.
"I just couldn't leave without it." I blushed as I touched my necklace.
"Well, I guess I can't really blame you for that. I'm pretty sure I'll look for it too if I ever lost it. Besides, it's from someone really important to us." Yuri looked at me.
"!!"
"Don't you think so?" Yuri smiled like she could see through me.
"Yes..someone really really important," I smiled back, bashfully.
The sky above us was blue. And the day was bright and a little warmer than yesterday. It was as if something really good will happen from now onwards.
.......Especially for the two of us.

(Yoshino's Scene-Yoshino's P.O.V.-)
I woke up in the morning light and yawned tiredly. I placed my right hand on my face. Something made a crunching sound. It was a small piece of paper. I wonder how it got there? I opened it. There were writings in it.
'Here's my number. I'll kill you if you ever lose it!! -Ana'
I just smiled. Now this is the Ana that I know of.
(Ana's Scene- Ana's P.O.V.)
"Atchhh...!" I sneezed.
"Are you okay, Ana-chan?" Akiyama asked. "Did you catch a cold or something?"
I blushed; reminded by his words of punishment.
"I HATE THAT IDIOOOTTT...!!!"
