I collapsed on Beyond's bed. Everything made perfect sense, but... I still couldn't believe it. I lay there for around an hour, soaking it in, when I got another splitting headache. I rolled off the bed onto the ground as it went away. Another shinigami entering the human realm. I pulled out my phone and turned on my Panic! at the Disco soundtrack, drowning out everything.

Beyond wakes me up fourty-five minutes later. I slide out of bed and find myself face-to-face with the red-brown eyes I know all too well. I look away, unsure what to do or say, and he sighs. "You know." "Honestly... I should've figured it out earlier." He sighs again and says, "well, now... I'll have to kill you, too." I gasp and feel my face pale. He chuckles at my response. "I could never do that, (Y/N). I will have to make sure you stay where I can see and hear you at all times from now on, though." Now my cheeks are red with anger.

I roll my eyes and stand up. "Beyond. You know that I love you--" "Didn't you say the same thing to L the other day?" I glare at him. "You know that's different." "Do I?" "Yes, you do. I love you and would never want to hurt you. But if I can't be around you without spilling your secret, I'll just have to promise that I'll never tell anyone, leave, and never come back." His eyes narrow for a moment , and then widen as he stands up. "Very well. If that's what you really want." I shake my head. "No. I want my young, innocent Birthday boy back." He shakes his head, whispering, "That can't happen," and disappears into the shadows.

          I can't stay in this room any longer; I run outside to the park where Lawliet, Mello, and Near threw Beyond's birthday party earlier. I collapse onto one of the benches and glanced at the table in front of me. There's a milk chocolate bar, a set of Dungeons and Dragons dice, and a bag of strawberry lollipops all bunched together with a white piece of paper on it. '(Y/N), we apologize for missing your birthday and hope you enjoy these belated gifts. ~L, Mello, and Near.' I set down the card, looking into the forest I told Lawliet, Near, and Mello to hide in for Beyond. I grabbed all of the gifts and walk into the forest. 

         It doesn't take me long to find a clearing close enough to the street that I can still hear the traffic to sit down in and spread out my gifts. I had given Beyond a necklace with a little Birthday cake with a black heart next to it. I lay down on the line needles, clutching the bag of candy, and silently let out the tears I'd been holding back. At this moment, I'm stabbed in the leg. I swing around, kicking as hard as I can at my assailant. I reached up to the nearest tree branch and grabbed it, trying to pull myself up with my right arm and trying to stand with my right leg, staunching the blood flow with my left hand. The hooded figure rushed at me again and I lifted my left arm,  blocking the sharp, blood-stained knife with the bony part of my arm. I managed to sloppily punch him in the stomach, but my arm was at the wrong angle for the amount of force and placement of the punch; I felt my forearm snap and my shoulder dislocate. Blood was now flowing freely out of my leg wound as he rushed me one last time, jamming the knife into the left side of my stomach. I collapsed to the ground, gasping for air, as he knelt over me and grabbed the knife from my side.

          He pulled it out and I gritted my teeth against the pain. He then sits by my head and leans over me, his red-brown eyes flashing as he says, "If I can't have you, neither can he." "Who? R-Ryuk?" He flashes a smile. "You don't have to talk anymore. Just rest. I sigh and  lay my head on his lap as he takes off the hood and tossed the knife toward the road. "F-fing-gerp-prints?" I whisper. He holds up his gloved hands and the  reaches for my phone. I listen as he dials 911 and explains that he found me here and wasn't sure what exactly had happened. I black out just after accepting that I loved two psychopaths that I'd probably never see again.are
