love

apparently my stepbrother knew you, wow.

Heads turned to watch as Seokjin walked down the hallway leading to the canteen. He was always glowing, always drawing heads his way without realizing. He entered the cafeteria like a king, not failing to draw attention like always, and Namjoon would have watched with a proud smile like every other day as Seokjin would strut over to him and claim his lips in a kiss that showed everyone Seokjin was only his. Only today Seokjin strutted over and shoved Namjoon's shoulder slightly, looking as beautiful as ever even when he was angry. Namjoon gulped down his fear and Jungkook stood up abruptly from where he was seated to try and run out of the canteen but Seokjin wasn't playing games.

"Stop right there young man," Seokjin chided, holding onto the back of Jungkook's tee and pulling him back with so much force it sent the younger boy stumbling into Namjoon for balance.

"Hyung," Jungkook started as Seokjin's eyes shifted to the bandage on the boy's right hand. "Listen-"

"No," Seokjin's nose flared in anger as he glared at Jungkook. "You listen, I will do the talking here you brat."

Seokjin's eyes then narrowed and slowly shifted to Namjoon, the latter chuckling nervously and rubbing the back of his head as he stepped away from his boyfriend for his own safety.

"You and I," Seokjin pointed to Namjoon, "we'll settle this tonight at my place."

To anyone around it would have sounded like angry sex that Seokjin was offering but Jungkook and Namjoon knew what he meant to say. The last time he had said that to Namjoon, the latter had been interrogated for an hour, chided with snide remarks for another hour, and had been refused kisses for three days.

"Jin I warned him I swear," Namjoon stuttered, reaching out with his hand to hold onto Seokjin's sleeve. "I told him not to get into trouble."

"He did," Jungkook quickly intervened, not wanting to cause Namjoon trouble.

"Did I say you could talk?" Seokjin glared at Jungkook, causing the boy to shut up and stare at the black boots on his feet instead. "Hoseok told me about your fist when I saw him after his dance class. He told me your fist was bandaged and that's all he knew. And then I saw Yoongi, he told me you got into a fight last night and- and- do you know how worried I was?"

Namjoon noticed the worry in his boyfriend's eyes and gently touched his arm, only for his hand to be swatted away with a scoff.

"And you. Joon, how could you not tell me about such things despite knowing? I have to hear it from Hoseok or Yoongi or some random rumour in college. Why didn't you tell me?"

Jungkook had never felt more apologetic towards Namjoon in his life. He was sure Namjoon had kept it from his brother so that he would be spared from his wrath and now he was facing the consequences.

"Hyung," Jungkook spoke in a gentle voice as he held onto Seokjin's sleeve. His head was still down and to Seokjin he looked like the little boy who had come home crying in fifth grade. Seokjin instantly melted and held onto the boy's head, ruffling his raven locks affectionately.

"I live every day in fear that one day you will do something stupid enough to end up in the hospital," Seokjin murmured, letting go of his brother and smiling softly at the young boy. "You make me worry so much you brat."

"I'm sorry. I swear I was not planning on getting into a fight. I will control myself from now hyung. I'm sorry for making you worry about me."

Jungkook flashed a childish grin at Seokjin and the latter completely let the younger off the hook. Seokjin couldn't snap at Jungkook if he wanted to, not when the boy was smiling at him with his bunny teeth on display, no way.

"Come here," Seokjin held onto Namjoon's hand and pulled him closer, guiding the hand to his own face and nuzzling against it. "Tell me if something happens next time Joon," he whispered softly. "Don't keep things from me, please?"

The way he said it, Namjoon's breath hitched and he leaned in to kiss his boyfriend's cheek affectionately. "'M sorry love," he kissed Seokjin's forehead next and hugged him to his chest, the latter closing his eyes and leaning into the embrace.

Jungkook caught Namjoon's eyes and he faked a gag but immediately composed himself when Seokjin turned to face him.

"Oh I almost forgot." He pulled out a very familiar keychain from his pocket and handed it to Jungkook.

"This is Jimin's. How do you-"

"He's a friend of mine. He had come to me for help with some assignment last year when I was doing a major in math. I went over to his café yesterday but he was off work by then and dropped this as he was leaving. Can you give this to him during your dance practice?"

Jungkook blinked as he took the keychain from Seokjin's hands. His brother knew Jimin before him. How come he had never heard the name being mentioned? Or had he forgotten?

"He's a really nice kid," he heard his brother gush to Namjoon. "So sweet. So cute. He reminds me of Jungkook but he's cuter than this brat. He's so respectful too. And," Seokjin's voice notched a pitch higher. "He laughs at my jokes Joonie."

Jungkook stared at his brother in disbelief before walking out of the canteen and staring at the opposite wall, wondering what the fuck had just happened. So Kim Seokjin, his stepbrother, knew Park Jimin.

"Wow." Jungkook turned in the direction of the voice to see Yoongi. "I'm surprised Jin hyung let you go so easily. But then again, when it comes to you he is a huge softie so I guess it's kind of understandable."

Jungkook sighed, rolling his eyes at the boy in front of him. "Thanks a lot for telling him I got into a fight."

Yoongi laughed as he bid Jungkook goodbye with a two-finger salute and walked into the canteen.
