Summary:
On patrol, Aizawa finds himself hit with a quirk that turns him... into a cat. Injured, disoriented, and with no idea where he is, it's a miracle when a sympathetic woman on her way home finds and picks him up. He doesn't intend to stay— really, he doesn't. He tells himself that it's just until he's fully healed. After that, he'll wriggle his way out and find someone who can help turn him back. He's not stalling. He's just... being rational.

The fact that he's accidentally managed to fall in love with someone who has no idea he's actually a human has absolutely nothing to do with it.

-OKAY PREMISE

-Obviously Shota gets hit by a quirk. Woo quirk! Stuck as a cat, he's still hurt from the fight he was previously in when Layla finds him on her way home from work, picks him up, and takes him to her apartment to nurse him back to health.

-Layla has deep pink hair and lighter pink eyes (might change the eyes idk), and she's an artist that works by commission and by selling work she makes— though she also works part time at a nearby art gallery for fun, where some of her art is displayed for sale. She loves painting her nails bright colors and likes wearing skirts and dresses, and has a huge collection of heels that are all kind of crazy and fun.

-She's pretty cheerful and bubbly, and when she finds Aizawa she immediately names him Cupcake and gets him a pink collar to match her hair.

-Layla is just, super lively, energetic, and spontaneous. Think crazy art teacher everyone loves. Shota finds her irritating at first, but the more he gets to know her, the more he starts to like her.

-She does like, everything with him. He's got one broken leg and one fractured, so she's constantly pampering him and carrying him places. She also takes him outside a lot for "fresh air". She's going to get coffee? He's in her purse. She's going on a walk? He's in her purse

-He actually loves it. He never thought he'd like being taken care of or coddled. He never has been before, but it's blissful and Layla is the best thing ever in his eyes

-Shota is lazy and a little lonely. He'd never thought he'd want to live with someone else, but the longer he spends with her, the less he wants to leave. Eating meals together, going places together, and seeing her passion and talent in art is the just— the best

-When she goes to work at the art gallery he always gets to come and sit on the front counter in a special bed she bought just for him. Sometimes she does free art classes there and he loves watching her teach them

-I feel like she's super friendly with everyone she meets and loves learning about other people and their interests, and Shota would kinda love that about her, especially the fact that she remembers everyone she meets and cares enough to recall the details about them she knows.

-And if there's a community volunteer thing going on, like helping plant flowers in flower beds to help pollinators or smth, she'd definitely do it. And she'd bring him with her too

-She talks to him like he's human and can reply and he sort of loves it more than anything because he can kinda trick himself into thinking he's human and she's talking to him anyway

-She's a maximalist so her apartment is all bright colors and covered walls and knick knacks. Shota really comes to love it because he likes seeing Layla surrounded by things she loves

-She cuddles him every night and insists he sleeps on the bed. At first he's resistant because he doesn't want to be a creep but can't resist because she always chats at him about all sorts of stuff— some of it philosophical— and he really falls in love with her outlook

-The general progression of realizing yes, he does want to spend all his time with this person and watch them smile, and make them smile and laugh and be happy.

-Layla gets hit on a few times and he gets so irrationally mad. Like so angry. Hissing and spitting. Layla always coos at him and calls him her little protector and he secretly loves that too. Like bro is proud

-Scratches behind the ears, AND she feeds him tuna.

-She likes to knit and keeps knitting him little hats that he begrudgingly puts up with. Her favorite to stick on him is a little pink frog hat she has like a million photos of him in it

-His collar has two tags on it: a heart shaped on with his "name" and Layla's number, and a little cupcake pendant she made with a red jewel as the cherry.

-Shota struggles because he's stuck as a cat and doesn't want to be, but as a human he doesn't think Layla would ever want to associate with him. He's got creaky joints even though he's only 30, he's perpetually tired, he's scruffy and homeless looking, he's drab, boring, kinda mean, sleeps a lot

-He feels like, washed out compared to how vivid she is. He doesn't match her energy. He's like, a direct contrast to it.

-Theres a pet friendly cafe they always go to and he gets to sit at the table with her like a little human

-Shota's clothes turn with him when he gets turned into a cat. He's pretty much all black fur except for a band of white around his neck representing his scarf.

-Funnily enough in the winter she actually knits him a little white scarf to wear, as well as a pink coat and even more hats.

-Layla loves music and is almost always playing it, and anytime her favorites come on she HAS to get up and dance. Shota loves watching her, and sometimes she'll pick him up and dance with him too

-Once he heals he's like in denial not wanting to leave, but eventually the decision is made for him when the quirk wears off and he turns back while she's in the other room taking a bubble bath. He panics and leaps off her balcony, the collar that popped off of him in tow.

-He falls so in love it's not even funny.

-Idk how long he's with her. Four months? Five? Possiblyyyy six? I'm thinking six.

-As a cat I feel like he still sucked at taking care of himself so she pampered him more. Lots of brushing and baths, but he sorta liked them? And he was still super lazy and drawl. Like his personality didn't change at all.

-He's probably the king of flat looks and unimpressed stares even as a cat but Layla loves it she thinks it's so funny

-Like someone says some outta pocket shit and she can just share a look with her cat

-Shota is so heartbroken after. His friends are all asking where he was and what happened and he just can't. He feels like he's losing his mind.

-He ends up putting the cupcake pendant from his collar on a bracelet. Mic doesn't even tease him for it because he looks so sad every time he fiddles with it.

-This is around when he buys his famous pink sweatpants. In fact, he can't stop himself from buying almost anything pink he sees. His comforter is pink and his sheets and his throw pillows. He has a pink vase and pink dishes. He gets a pink rice cooker and pink winter gloves and pink socks.

-Layla sort of knows. Sometimes her beloved "Cupcake" slips up and nods or shakes his head at her. She knows something is off but not what, and is completely shattered when he suddenly vanishes

-Like, lots of crying, show bingeing, eating ice cream, looking for him. Ppl ask after him because he went everywhere with her and she just breaks down when they do. 

-She moved from America and hasn't made many friends since coming to Japan. Like she had some but a bad break up made her lose them. She's always done better with animals and had been thinking of getting a cat when she found Aizawa

-She LOVESSS cupcakes. She loves to make and decorate them. She made Shota a lot of cat-safe cupcakes during his time with her

-She owns a bicycle. Pink, obviously, with a basket in the front that Shota rides in. She makes it specially heated just for him so he can be cozy in the winter

-I feel like he got some nasty scars from having a broken leg and some of his human scars also translated so there's some patches of fur missing, and he has the scars his cat self did when he turns back

-Shota is in love with her but has like, no idea how to approach her as a human or if he should. He's afraid she'll be pissed. He's a grown man who was just living with her. He didn't even try to come clean

-He has her phone number from the tag though and is so tempted. Like losing his mind tempted. He has it in his phone. He thinks about it all the time

-He ends up checking on her a lot. She used to stay late at the art gallery so he'll wander over there and watch her through the windows. It's like sorta creepy but he can't help it y'all he's yearning

-Layla's quirk is called Stardust. She can create small, galactic clouds that basically rain glittery... Well, stardust. It's not super useful, but it is really pretty and a big part of her art. At night, she'd make larger galaxies with constellations for her and Shota to look at

-The stardust, unless mixed with something (like paint or glue or something to weigh it down), will float around in tendrils she can waft and direct around. Sometimes she traps it in bottles or other glass baubles for her art and it's super gorgeous.

-She's always a little glittery because of it. She can make different colors of stardust based on how she feels and the most common color is

-I feel like Shota accidentally bumps into her on the street when he's going to check on her and he looks like total shit. Like deep bags under the eyes, stubble needs to be shaved down, hair bedraggled.

-Way one, I feel like she'd sorta stop and stare at him for a second. Like Lowkey recognizes him in a way? Like she'd see the scarf, and the tired eyes staring at her in slight horror and shock, and then she looks down at where he reached out a hand to steady her from falling and there it is

-The bracelet with the fucking cupcake charm on it

-Dawg idk how she'd react. I feel like she'd sorta break down a little. Like she loved that cat so mf much she'd just be like "Cupcake?" And then start crying and hug him. Like sure he's a strange and random man who smells a little weird, looks like he hasn't slept in several days, and may be homeless

-But he's also obviously Cupcake

-Aizawa would cry too straight up

-SECOND way idk, maybe Aizawa caves and wanders into the art gallery. Like he just can't stop himself. And she's super friendly and just starts chattering away at him even though he looks like shit

-Lowkey feel like he can't find the words so he just nods and shakes his head and stares at her with this kicked puppy expression. And eventually he buys a piece of her art that's displayed

-And then he keeps coming back. And buying more. And she sorta gets to know him and it feels familiar. Like she's suspicious but not sure

-Like maybe smth happens and they share one of those looks, and the way he yawns is familiar, and the way he looks at people and things. And like, maybe she still has his cat bed on the front counter and she catches him looking at it. And maybe once he talks a little more he slips on a few things he shouldn't know

-Or gets unnecessarily indignant on her behalf about things. Like it's obvious he's met her before somehow and is invested in her. And he awkwardly admits he's a pro hero and maybe she remembers a villain turning people into animals and killing them being caught or smth

-And then she sees the cupcake charm and it's like confirmation

-She'd fr be like "Oh my god, I knew it!" And just grab him. This like tall scraggly man who never stays very long and will barely engage in small talk and she's just like "CUPCAKE!"

-He'd cry (or almost cry?) and apologize we all know it. He'd be like "you're not mad?"

-and she'd be like "why would I be mad?"

-like idk bc a grown man was pretending to be a completely normal pet cat and sleeping in bed next to you???

-She doesn't care bro

-She like drags him home and is full tilt "no, this is your home too, and we're best friends we have to hang out I want to do everything with you" and he's just so happy

-Like in disbelief but happy

-like he gets to do all the things they used to with her only now he's human, and he never thought he'd get that. And she still hugs him and brushes his hair and they go to cafes and on walks, and she's like constantly blowing up his phone but it's not annoying it's the best thing ever

-Mic is like "you seem happier but also why're you gone all the time you're never this eager to leave work"

-His reaction to her would be gold like Aizawa dating is crazy, but Aizawa dating a peppy, eccentric artist???

-Slightly feral pop of color spontaneous girlfriend with ADHD and her calm emo boyfriend who just goes along with it

-she's like "We're going to the beach because I need seashells because I've decided I want to learn how to make wind chimes out of them" and he's like "sure whatever"

-"I decided to paint my wall at 3am but got distracted so now it's half blue but I kind of like it so I'm leaving it like that and hanging stuff over the crease to make the cut in color less noticable" and he'd like "alright yeah"

-he doesn't care at all dawg

-OKAY wait what about a third option this could be so funny

-What if Aizawa is super depressed can't get over it and Mic is like, trying to take him out to get him out of his apartment where he's holed up. And Aizawa is just super beaten down and tired

-And she's walking somewhere and she spots him, but he doesnt spot her

-But the things made with her stardust kinda glow and she can kinda feel them even after they're made, and she made the cupcake charm with it. Like it's coated with resin that has the dust in it

-So she stops. She looks at him. Stares at the scarf. And the dark outfit. And how tired he looks. Spots the charm. Cogs turn. She spots a few scars on him

-And then she just like marches up to him and grabs him and is like "Sir, this may sound really strange but I think you're my pet cat"

-Mic is like "What the hell"

-It'd be so funny

-Kinda still like the second for build up but y'all know I love sudden shocking reveals it's so fun to write the "wtf" reactions

-Shota would panic and be like "I am so sorry"

-and she'd just be so happy like "Oh my god, CUPCAKE?!" And then she'd hug him and he'd hug her and mic would be there like "right... Okay"

-Wait I thought of another one that could be good

-After agonizing over it, Shota decides it'd be wrong not to text her and tell her what happened. He invaded her privacy and ran off, making her think her pet cat was still out there, and he didn't want her to look forever for a pet she wasn't going to find

-So he formulates a text. Like hello, I'm Shota Aizawa, pro hero Eraserhead. Around half a year ago I got into a bad fight and was hit with a quirk yadda yadda. I am so sorry, those were some of the best months of my life, I never meant to take advantage, yadda yadda, you're amazing and I'm still sorry, yadda some more

-I feel like she's so go with the flow, so jump from one thing to the next that it doesn't upset her. Like he explains it and she's like, "huh, okay". Like she feels like she knows him. Even if he was a cat, there was still a relationship, a friendship built there even if he couldn't talk

-She tries to text back but he clearly blocked her so she spends forever tracking down where he works. Eventually she figures out it's UA and marches over there

-Nezu is intrigued he's been so curious wanting to know where Aizawa was for the months he was missing so he'd let her in bro

-She'd be polite. Like she'd wait around for him. She wouldn't just fly off and hunt him down and corner him in the teacher's lounge

-But I feel like when he does walk out and spots her he'd fr be frozen fucking solid. And she'd be so relieved to see him okay. She'd be like "Cupcake! You're alright!" And just go in for the hug

-Like girl that is not your pet cat... But also it is? So... Justified?

-If my dog turned into a random woman who accidentally was my pet dog but still loved me and was on board I wouldn't care bro that's still my dog she didn't mean it

-like it's not like smth changed, Shota was a human the whole time. It's not like he went from normal cat to human that's stuck as a cat. Anything that happened during that time was him through and through, just... as a cat

-Aizawa would be so happy to see her. He'd just hug her back. But also he'd be in shock because he looks like shit and she just doesn't care at all she still adores him

-Mic and Nemuri when this random woman comes in calling Aizawa "Cupcake" and brushing his hair behind his ears and looking at his face and checking on the scars on his arms while he just lets it happen: 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️

-Like her brain is like "This is still Cupcake, my best friend that I spent every hour of every day with. We shall continue to do all the things we did before"

-He's like "but look at me" and she does and is like "...you look exactly the same you're just bigger than me now. Let's go to a cafe!"

-She still talks and talks and talks to him and he just hums along and naps on her couch 💀 literally nothing changes

-Except they're in love and kiss. Like it'd take Layla a second to get there but she'd catch up quick. Like have y'all seen Aizawa's jawline?
