Title: 📥🫵🩻

Summary:
When the world ends and there's nothing left to save, the only option left is to risk an experimental jutsu that will send Naruto and Kurama spiralling into their past bodies. Only something goes wrong— Kurama is in a dormant sleep, and though snippets of the future start to bleed through, Naruto doesn't remember everything.

Until Kurama wakes, Naruto is left with only fractured pieces to try and put together a picture of the brewing storm ahead, a suspicious Sensei watching his every move, and a whole lot of certainties he's got no grounds for.

Notes:

-I would write this so fast. I love it so MUCH omfg, someone sedate me.

-The world ends because Y'ALL KNOW ME and my time travel obsession. Yadda yadda, war went wrong, everyone is dead, welcome to sucksalotville. Pity party candy and drinks for everyone.

-Naruto and Kurama time travel to the past using a only half formed, theoretical jutsu. Kurama remembers everything, but he's asleep upon arrival and dormant for a fair amount of time. Naruto doesn't remember much of anything— except he sorta does.

-He knows something is off immediately. In the beginning, he has flashes of nightmares. Nothing concrete, but he just... knows. That something isn't right. He apartment feels wrong, and Konoha feels wrong. He feels wrong.

-Slowly, information starts to leak in. Only Naruto doesn't even realize. Suddenly it's just there as though fact.

-This ends with him knowing a ton of information he shouldn't. He also doesn't know that he shouldn't know this information. Hence, Kakashi is super suspicious. Not really of him, but more in the sense that he knows something is up and wants to get to the bottom of it.

-It starts small— more feelings than anything. Like maybe he gets the sense Kakashi will be late the day he graduates, or he gets teary eyed looking at the village and has a sense that it's supposed to be a crater for some reason. Maybe the villagers sneer at him and, even though they've done that his whole life, he's still confused because he subconsciously remembers the way he was accepted after Pein.

-Gradual uptick in him knowing stuff. Imagine the chaos it would cause and the confusion. And the way Naruto wouldn't notice, and Kakashi would just be silently watching and holding his breath to see what he'll say.

-Some examples for the masses:

-He knows Pakkun's name before Kakashi has even introduced his ninken, and maybe knows about some of the others and their preferences. Biscuit actually doesn't like biscuits, Bull's favorite treat, etc. Like he clearly knows them even though he's never met them.

-Casually knows who his dad is. Just mentions it one day offhandedly and never notices. Kakashi has a mini heart attack and Sasuke and Sakura are like: 👀

-I feel like Team 7 would start to listen to his weird tidbits. At first he'd sound crazy, but at some point he'd start seeming psychic. Like him mentioning the chunin exams, and then Gaara. Not liking Kabuto and knowing he's gonna show up before he does.

-Like imagine bro "predicts" Orochimaru. They'd be waiting on the edge of their seats for his next "prediction", which is in reality tidbits of the future he came from bleeding back in slowly.

-Knows Kurama's name and refers to him by it. Gets angry when people to refer to him as an "it". I feel like this is where Naruto's own suspicions start to really take off. If he went into the seal, Kurama would be asleep in it.

-Maybe he does jutsu he shouldn't know, or sometimes falls short in sparring, like he's expecting his limbs to be longer. References missions that haven't happened, and Sasuke being gone

-Real kicker one because you know we save Itachi in this house— he insists, swears up and down, that Sasuke adores his brother and that Itachi loves him back.

-He can't pinpoint why when asked or how he knows, but he is just absolutely convinced. So much so that Sasuke actually starts to have his own doubts.

-Naruto hating Danzo and being like "I'm so glad he's dead, believe it" when Danzo is not, in fact, dead

-Referencing missions that haven't happened yet. Or when they get new missions, he complains that they've "already done it".

-Talks about alliances that aren't formed yet, has vast knowledge of high operating political entities. Can list the other kages by name and describe them, their personalities, and preferences in extreme detail at one point.

-"Hey, if you're here, where's Obito anyway?" -Naruto, 2k23, about to fuck up Kakashi's entire life.

-Him crying over Haku, insisting Inari should be bigger, and frowning because he "thought they finished the bridge".

-Basically his memories are sorta there but he can't discern that they're memories of the future. To him they exist as present memories and it muddles his reality, making him think things aren't as they actually are.

-Him greeting Gaara like an old friend and being confused when he's not met with friendliness. Knowing Shukaku's name.

-"I don't get it. It thought you killed Itachi, and that's... But no, you left the village, and then you—" Naruto, 2k23, about the fuck up Sasuke's day.

-Him getting mad and being like "but YOU SAID—" which like yeah, they did say, but not yet.

-Him crying the moment he sees Jiraiya who then has to stand there and pat him on the back like "there there? Don't, uh, cry."

-Jiraiya talking about the Akatsuki and Naruto is like "I'm really glad Nagato came around in the end." Which like. He did not. Yet. You can't just say that.

-Jiraiya is like "Kid, where'd you even hear that name 😭"

-Itachi showing up at that one hotel to get the Kyuubi on their journey to find Tsunade and Naruto is like "You're not gonna shove another weird crow down my throat, are you?"

-Itachi pauses and is like "...Never have I done that?"

-And Naruto is like "Actually, maybe you should, since the Kotoamatsukami thingy let me break you outta Kabuto's control that one time!"

-Itachi over here like "You should... Not know about that."

-Sasuke arriving down the hall: "He does that sometimes."

-Team 7 as family because I said so.

-What if he summons a toad even though he like, shouldn't know how. Has never met Jiraiya in his actual life. Has never even seen or heard of the toad scroll until now.

-Him being super good at harnessing Kurama's power. Like he goes into tailed beast mode and he's honestly just upset that it's not gold. He's like "This burns ☹️" while everyone else is screaming.

-It'll turn gold when Kurama wakes up to make it gold. Facts.

-He sees Yamato like on the street and just goes up and starts talking to him. Casually. Yamato is super lost, and Kakashi is just like "yeah, he does that."

-Jiraiya: "Let me check out your seal real quick, Naruto."

-Insert thirty minutes of him staring. Staring some more. Channeling chakra. Staring. Realizing that the reason he can't get the seal to appear is because there is no seal at all.

-"I took that off ages ago. Believe it." Like bro.

-Him asking Kakashi why Tsunade is going to be Hokage again and not him. Kakashi just stares at him dead-eyed and wishes this were not his life.

-Someone, eventually: "What are you, some kind of time traveler?"

Naruto: "You know what, that sounds really familiar."

-"Orochimaru isn't that bad a guy! Like, he helped out! Believe it!" Okay, sure. Helped out with what exactly.

-Kurama finally wakes up and the timeline is just so incredibly fucked. He wouldn't even be surprised. He'd be like "Oh 😭 of course."

-Basically a time travel fic in which Naruto doesn't know he's time traveled, does not have all the facts, and runs around like a lunatic just spouting off stuff he shouldn't know and causing general unrest and chaos. Huzzah!
