Title: Dumpster Dive

Summary:
Izuku goes to take out the trash behind the dorms, and it's just his luck that he'd somehow manage to startle bad enough to fall into the dumpster. What he doesn't expect is to keep falling long after he should've slammed face first into a pile of garbage.

Hero in training Deku lands in a dimension where Izuku Midoriya has been dead for over a year. Stranded in a world that feels like it's crumbling around him, Izuku does the only thing he can feasibly think of.

He saves them. And he smiles while he does it.

Notes:

-Izuku dimension hops. We don't know how or why. Let's just say the dumpster has a quirk or something and move on.

-In this universe, Izuku listened to Katsuki's advice after All Might told him he couldn't be a hero and took a swan dive off the roof he was left on. The butterfly effect is immense.

-The world he falls into is different. Bakugo's not right, Todoroki doesn't use his fire, All Might never fell but seems like he's crumbling from the inside out. Eri was never rescued and quirk-erasing bullets are multiplying in the streets. The League is growing and stronger than they should be.

-Tsuyu and Mineta both were killed at the USJ as well, and Iida was permanently injured by Stain, who still roams the streets. Everyone just seems sadder and Izuku literally has no idea wtf he's supposed to do.

-Because Stain's message about true heroes before he was captured never aired, he's not nearly as famous. This leads to Dabi and Toga never having joined the League, though spinner still ends up there, having idolized Stain even before his big message

-Nezu sees Izuku pop out of the dumpster and is so unconcerned. Stranger on his highly guarded campus? How cool and fun! We all know he knows anyway I swear he's not a genius he's just psychic or something

-Katsuki is practically mute in this universe. He hardly talks. Izuku has no idea what to do about it so he just sorta awkwardly pats him on the back and comforts him while he like, cries

-Izuku is emitted to class 1-A temporarily until they can find a way to send him back. All Might keeps staring at him like he isn't real. Apparently, he's been unable to pass One For All on for some reason, so seeing someone else holding it is a novelty

-I have so many variations of this exact story in my drafts wtf someone stop me from making more

-Izuku is bouncy and full of optimism (if he doesn't laugh he'll cry) and everyone else looks at him likes he's crazy. The world is literally crumbling around them why is he smiling like that

-Dark and brooding Iida missing an arm and Izuku chattering away at him like he's the same as the Iida he knows. He also pesters Todoroki nonstop and is ignored. Ochako thinks he's weird. Bakugo is now effectively his only friend and all Bakugo does is cry, so now Izuku doesn't know wtf to do

-Aizawa loves him though. Izuku kills it in quirk training and is bursting with potential and drive. All his other students are worn down and even though that's not their fault, seeing such determination definitely lights a spark and starts to bring 1-A back to life

-Shota "I would kill for this child" Aizawa

-Izuku's walking down the street, minding his business, doing his thing when— yeah, right there. Rewind it. Uh huh.

-He passed a homeless man with spikey white hair. Except it's not a homeless man, it's Dabi, and apparently Dabi never became a villain without Stain's conviction so now he's just just living in the streets practically soulless

-Izuku adopts him like he's a stray cat, obviously. Saving people and all that.

-Everyone literally: "How do you know that nobody is supposed to know that it's a state secret."

Izuku enjoying the free churro someone gave him: "What"

-Dadmight dadmight dadmight

-No literally this All Might adores Izuku so much. The fact that he never got to meet and know him makes him cry constantly. He is seethingly jealous. Contemplates destroying the possibly interdimensional dumpster. Wants Izuku to stay and wars with himself

-Izuku is oblivious to it he's just here to talk about the multiverse and keep his alternate dimension mentor company

-Todoroki is Lowkey on track to becoming a Dabi. Izuku does not want alternate Todoroki to be a Dabi. But Todoroki isn't listening to him, and he refuses to use his fire no matter what anyone says, so Izuku does the only thing he can think of

-He siccs All Might on Endeavor

-(Yes it does work and it's also fucking hilarious)

-Ft. Izuku building a little League of his own. We've got Dabi who's not technically Dabi, we've got a crying Bakugo who follows Izuku everywhere, we've sorta got one armed Iida (who's in gen Ed by the way), All Might who thinks Izuku is the best, Aizawa who thinks the same thing, and Kaminari for some reason

-idk Kaminari is stupidly optimistic and curious he seems like he'd bounce back and befriend Izuku

-Izuku tries to find Toga Himiko but turns out she's been adopted by Vlad King and is attending a high school that specializes in pre-med and pre-nursing programs

-Apparently she can taste illness and disease and basically any blood abnormality, and she's immune to them all thanks to her quirk. So like good for her. But also she's scary as shit and says he tastes like nine people crammed into one

-he gives no comment

-Izuku likes the fix things and he's gonna smile while he does it, even if everything is on fire and the clouds are covering the sun and it all sucks!

-Izuku talking about getting Eri and Dabi showing up with her the next day because he thought their whole planning to get her was actually Izuku asking Dabi to go get her so he didn't have to

-So now she's here and uh. Way more traumatized than before. So

-Izuku says Dabi's real name for the first time in front of Shoto and like, whoops

-"He's my brother?!"

"Oh my god I thought you knew."

-The media thinks Izuku is All Might's secret love child. Natsuo has started a fan club for him. It has... A surprising number of members considering Izuku is not even from this dimension

-Iida the one armed hero! Woot woot!

-Tensei is in the Izuku fan club, obviously

-Izuku wants to go home so bad, but also he feels guilty about the thought of leaving. He'd thought his universe was bad, but this one sucks. The civil unrest is insane. Why's his original universe complaining? Compared to this it's not so bad

-Quirk canceling bullets target the quirk factor. Izuku doesn't have a quirk factor. Ergo, he gets shot with one, One For All is fine, and now Chisaki is shitting his big boy pants and Izuku is angry

-Izuku does hyperventilate like the whole time but sorta tries to convince himself it's all a dream and to just mush forward because what choice does he have

-"oh yeah the league? They should be in... Yeah, this bar right here"

-Why is Todoroki like impervious to friendship. Even after Izuku got endeavor arrested he's still so edgy and mean like Jesus calm down why are we mad

-On that note, another figure appears through the dumpster. Izuku's Ochako is here and doesn't think he's weird like the other one still does! Which is great, and now he has a real friend who isn't depressed or crazy! If they thought Izuku was bubbly, other Ochako is ten times worse and ten times scarier too

-Alternate universe Ochako is flabbergasted by the other her. Has no idea what to think, especially when the other her shows what a badass she's become at hand to hand.

-Eri and Dabi are best friends change my mind

-Hawks is... Probably somewhere in here. What he's doing, I really couldn't say. I'd like to think he's in the fanclub.

-Ochako genuinely has no idea what's going on and you know what? She doesn't care. She's not even sure how she even got here. At least Deku is alive. Plus, the whole thing is kinda cool honestly

-Aizawa drowning in guilt over the deaths of his students at the USJ and Izuku giving him a hug and telling him how amazing he was and that it's not his fault because... I said so. Or something

-Yeah, Izuku falls into an alternate dimension, rocks some shit, and that's the story

Not super interesting but it's 4:41 AM. I can't sleep. It was rattling around up there, it had to be let out. I love dimension travel the grind never stops
