5 AM in the Morning. The sun was hidden in the clouds.
Momo thankfully took a shower before going to bed. She slept well, especially after all those warm conversations with that stranger who now happened to be, well, her crush.
She was able to open up about a lot of things, her past, her family, her problems and secrets. Overall, she had a very grand time with the stranger. It was wonderful.
Enough about Momo, let's check on Todoroki.
The young, hetochromia eyed boy was shuffling his way to the girls' wing of the dorms, a cellophane dangling from his fingers. The scent fo daffodils filled his nostrils as he took steady breathes and steady steps.
No one seemed to have woken up yet especially after a party like that last night. Todoroki yawned. He was in his comfortable pajamas, and his scarlet red and pure white hair seemed to be soaked with water, he must have just taken a little shower. Thankfully it was the weekend, Saturday, so he didn't have much to do.
He arrived to the front of a door, a certain someone's door. Right across the hall was little window, exposing the little light the sun was providing in its arrival.
He slightly smiled at the sight before turning back to the door. After sighing lightly, he knocked the door, very gently, its thud being barely audible, and twisted the knob.
He peeked through the door to find an asleep Momo Yaoyorozu on her cozy bed. Her raven black hair spreaded around her pillow as her body curled up in her pastel colored blanket stayed still in the plain silence. Her breathing was steady, and her lips seem to have formed a little smile.
Todoroki glanced around the room, taking in the scent of a certain jasmine perfume. With hesitance, he tiptoed his way into the room, shutting the door gently behind. He turns his head to the left, to find a desk with a closed binder and a little snow globe beside it.
With a light sigh, he shuffled his way to the desk and placed the cellophane on the desk gently, an envelope sticking out of the plastic. He turned his head back to Momo and smiled lightly.
He then left the room.
♧
9 AM in the morning. Momo rose from her bed with unexpectedly still kept hair and gorgeous eyes despite her eyebags.
She yawned as she stretched her arms up high and slumps her back forward. Her arms fall on her bed as her lips curve into a smile with slightly squinted eyes. "Good morning." She mumbled to herself.
She crawls out of her bed and stretches her arms once more once her feet make contact with the carpet below. She glances at different directions in her room.
Her gifts were all organized in their designated areas. Her Constellation poster was plastered on her wall, her snow globe together with her accesories and ballpens were by her desk, her stuffed pony and bear were just sitting on her bed, her framed photo was standing tall by her shelf with the box of puzzle pieces, and an encylopedia staying still on her shelf.
Smiling at the organized items, she walked towards the door of her room, about to exit until her eyes land back on her desk.
The cellophane.
Raising an eyebrow, she approached it and lifted it with her two fingers. She then revealed the insides of the cellophane only to find a bouquet of pretty daffodils, still quite fresh, together with a pink envelope.
Her mother's letter.
She gasped slightly at the sight of her mother's gift, dipping her hand into the bag to reach for the scented paper.
Her eyes gaze at the sight of the envelope in her hand, trying to recall how did it get into the plastic bag. Where did she last put it anyway? The last time she saw it was by her veranda. She placed the letter down and rubbed her temple with her two hands, clearly frustrated in attempting to recall the events that occured that night.
Then, it hit her. It was by the railings of her veranda, it must have fell and dropped down by downstairs. How did it get here though? Before Momo could brainstorm the possibilites of the unexpected appearance of her gift, she returned her attention to the bag, specifically the bundle of daffodils.
She reached her hand into the cellophane and pulled out the flowers. She gazed at the pretty petals and the whole structure of the fragrant daffodils, gasping lightly. She sniffed once, and instanlty, she smiled with delight. "It smells so good .." She mumbled as she sniffed once more.
She began to turn the bundle, spinning ir a bit to find a tag attached to the bundle. She raised an eyebrow and lifted the tag to get a closer look.
'To: yaoyorozu
happy birthday, yaoyorozu
thank you for being here
From: todoroki'
She gasped. "Wooh, Todoroki?" She mumbled, her voice filled with confusion and excitement at the same time. "Daffodils .. How does he know?" She chuckled, gazing at the flowers once again with her sparkling eyes.
"I must have forgotten to bring this upstairs .." She murmured to herself, placing it down back on her desk. She reached into the little treasure chest she got as a gift and pulled out a black hair tie. She then tied her hair into her daily spiky style, smiling at the result.
Her eyes land back on the cellophane and envelope. Squinting her eyes as she tried to recall the events that occured that night, she then remembered the cellophane before her was the same plastic bag intertwining her fingers. She sighed and slowly slapped the front of her face, facepalm if you want to call it.
Her hand slowly falls from her face like water trickling down her skin. "I forgot I left it by the couch .." She mumbled, her hand landing on her lips, muffling the words she murmured.
She sighed and then began to shake her hands before her mirror. "Momo, stop forgetting things, alright?" She said to herself, furrowing her eyebrows as she slapped the both sides of her cheeks. She groaned slightly.
Shaking her head to bring herself back to her senses, she exits the room.
♧
"Momo, why are you smiling?" Toru chuckled at her best friend on the table as her said raven haired best friend munched on her brunch meal.
Momo's eyes widen, and soon, her lips curve into a smile and she chuckles. Swallowing the remains of her meal, she looks over to Toru. "I'm just very happy right now. I'm still quite thrilled from the events of the previous night." She replied, taking another scoop of her meal into her mouth.
Momo has arrive to breakfast early unexpectedly. She found her friends gather on the dining table while the little amount of boys scurry around the kitchen with droopy eyes, they must have just woken up. Kirishima was unexpectedly still really tired, despite the fact he was constantly eccentric and energetic.
But, now here he is, his back slumped and eyes droopy on the dining table, not giving any attention to the meal before him. Only a few boys actually seemed awake, Todoroki and Bakugou. The rest were either by the dining table with tired looks and slouching postures or maybe just back in their rooms, still asleep.
Right now, Momo was taking in her meal happily, an odd smile plastered on her face for a long period of time until Toru aknowledged it. The reason of this strange smile was, well, because of last night's events (She wasn't lying).
Specifically, the blossoming of Momo's feelings for the stranger.
Her stomach was still swarmed by butterflies and her body was still tingling with that sweet feeling, that craving, charming and delightful feeling of a crush.
The thoughts of the stranger's kind words swam in her mind, causing her to smile a lot during her time of consuming her meal.
Alright, back to the story.
Toru chuckled at Momo's statement. "I'm glad it went well!" She exclaimed, looking over to the sleeping Mina beside her, snoring. "Hey, Mina, did you hear that? The party was a success!" Toru happily stated, lightly patting the snoring, pink hero.
"Mm. I know." The said pink skinned young girl replied, her eyes closed and the side of her face resting on the table. Toru tsked, "Make sure you get plenty of sleep, Mina." She stated, patting her companion deep in slumber.
Momo giggled. She knew she slept way later than they did, but due to the thrill she was feeling, she was able to fight back the attempt of her sleeping state to engulf her.
"Well, I'll head back upstairs. I'll go check if Jirou is up or maybe Uraraka too." Momo stated, picking her plate and walking to the kitchen. "See ya!"
She placed her plate down by the sink, where Todoroki was. He was assigned to clean the dishes for the day, that's why his hands were busy working with soap and water.
After Momo did her little task, she softly spoke, like a whisper. "Thanks for the daffodils."
Then she walked away, not noticing a little blush on Todoroki's cheeks.
●
Momo continued to tap away on her phone.
Another conversation has blossomed between the two, Momo and the stranger. Currently, they were talking about something about flowers and gardens, something that Momo seems to enjoy talking about with them.
In the midst of her typing, she glanced to the shelf of books nearby, specifically the calender she recently put up.
She stared at a certain date on the calender, then glanced back to her phone.
'It's already near, huh ..'
She then continued to type away.
● ●
Four days have passed ever since Momo's birthday blast. Timeskips suck, you must be thinking, but I doubt the readers would enjoy reading Momo and the stranger being complete nerds over flowers.
The day was finally coming to an end. Sadly, it was currently the Typhoon season. Clouds were engulfing the sky, covering the pretty blue sky with its dull, gray form. The bland atmosphere continued to spread across the sky, until not a single shade of blue was left to be seen.
Momo stuffed her things into her bag before rushing out of the room. "Yao-momo! Where are you going?" Ochako called out suddenly, causing the dashing maiden to stop her tracks by the door.
She turned her head to the brunette, clutching the door's handle, "Sorry, Uraraka. I can't go with you girls today, there's a special event I must attend to today. I'll see you later in the Dormitories!" She replied in a rush before sliding the door to the side -
Only to reveal Todoroki Shouto.
"Ahh!" The young maiden began stumble backwards after his sudden appearance. Her feet were becoming tangled as her body began to manueveur in an odd manner, her arms swaying.
Luckily, she lands back on her feet. She straightens her posture, a shade of pink invading her cheeks as her lips wobbled.
Todoroki's eyes were wide, he must be shocked. "Are you alright, Yaoyorozu?" He asked, stepping an inch closer. Momo scratched the back of her neck and chuckled awkwardly, "Yes," She said in a soft tone. She averted her gaze.
Seeing him felt odd. Like, the same feeling when you watch a television show you watched as a kid, or seeing a friend after years of being apart. She saw him as a distant and old friend now. She couldn't help but feel guilty. But why though?
"Anyway, I must go now, please excuse me!" She rushed into the door, accidently lightly hitting Todoroki in the process and began to dash into the halls.
It was no doubt she missed that staircase. She missed her conversations with Todoroki. The last time they spoke was .. well, by the door. The second to the last time they spoke was by the sink. The four days that passed was simple silence between the two.
After seeing him by the door, she felt oddly .. guilty. She felt like she betrayed him and never contributed to their bond at all. It's as if she was the reason of this silence.
She continued to run in the halls until she reached the school gates. She already asked permission from the principal about her leaving the school grounds for the special event of hers, so she had the privelage to leave the area. She rushed out of the gates and stood by the pavement alone. The clouds were certainly about to pour down water, so she ran down the streets to her destination as fast as her legs can take her.
Somehow, as she ran, she still couldn't get the thought of her and Todoroki's bond slowly breaking. Was she the reason-
'No. Shut up, Momo.' She thought to herself. Her negative train of thought came to a halt. She recalled every word her crush, the stranger texted her. She remembered every word of motivation and comfort they spoke.
Her mood was immediatly lifted from the simple thought. A small smile formed on her lips until rain started to bathe her slowly. A water drop on her shoulder, then on her scalp, then on her jacket, then on her fists, then on her hair, then more water drops came bathing her at all the parts of her mentioned at the same time.
She finally stopped her tracks by the Bus Stop, panting as she glued her hands to her knees. She completely forgot about the Typhoon season on September, together with the pink umbrella on her desk. That pink umbrella was special, so she decided to not to create one herself, for it feels like she's betraying that little pink gift. She got when she was still a child, and some other events occured that lead to the umbrella being in such a special spot.
She lifted her body up and looked around her surroundings. Everyone passing by had umbrellas. Pink, Blue, Red, Mint Green, Magenta and so much more colors of umbrellas surrounded her. The people across the street didn't give her a glance, nor did they join her in her little shelter. She had no way of getting to her destination now, all she can do was wait until the rain stops, but like mentioned a while ago, it's Typhoon season, it'll probably never end.
She recalled breifly seeing the Weather Report on Television today. The Weather Reporter stated something about the Typhoon Season being a lot lighter this year. No wonder there were still people outside strolling in the brutal rain. It was a lot stronger than before, but it was definitely not as strong as a Typhoon.
A frigid atmosphere began to form, judging from the cold air clinging to her skin. She shivered from the breeze and sat down by the bench.
She took a glance on her wrist watch. It wasn't quite late nor is it near to Dawn. 'Good.' She thought before folding her arms and observing the rain.
In her right arm was a blue handbag, dangling. It seems like a typical school bag. She turned her head to it and opened it, and lo and behold revealed a boquet of daffodils.
She sighs in relief before closing it back again. She then began to pat her lap patiently, waiting til the rain ends.
Few minutes passed, and there was still water pouring down from the sky. She began to feel bored as she simply watched the cars and people pass by and the rain drops drip from the ceiling above.
She sighed softly before leaning her back against bench, relaxing her shoulders. Even though the thought of the text of the stranger helped lifted her mood to a more positive level, the train of thought of her bond with Todoroki returned. She felt somewhat homesick, but this time, she's not dreading to return home, she's dreading to restore that same, strong bond between her and Todoroki. She recalled every conversation they had, and couldn't help but feel nostaligic. She missed those times. She missed the feeling of being accompanied by that staircase. There was a certain feeling she felt every time she was by that staircase together with him.
She missed that warm company aura he gave off. It felt strange to see him now. Like .. he was a stranger. He was the one she doesn't know that much. She noticed the same pattern repeated, silence, then awkwardness. It was strange. It went like being quiet to each other for a while then reuniting again awkwardly. It was the same back at the birthday party surprise of hers, and it felt so .. odd. She hated that pattern. She wanted to restore the bond they have, she wanted to talk to him more, regularly, and still have that same strong bond by the staircase, and prevent that pattern from continuing in the next upcoming months. If only things stayed the same. If only Momo actually payed attention more.
Right now, she was overwhelmed by her head spinning with thoughts. She wanted to rest now. She wanted to close her eyes and not think about Bond Bussiness. She wanted company though.
And she got exactly what she wanted.
"Yaoyorozu."
A low and somewhat emotionless voice spoke from the side. Despite the voice being quite low in volume, she could hear it speak, even with the rain going on.
She turned her head to the side to find a familiar boy she's acquainated, with an umbrella in hand beneath the strong shower.
Iida.
I'm kidding.
Todoroki, obviously.
He had his hand dipped into his pocket, and his eyes filled with curiousity. He had his a shoulder bag on too, but that detail didn't matter too much.
Her body slowly fixed in posture, "Todoroki?" She said, her body slowly rising and tilting forward to his direction. It was expectedly very overwhelming to see him after just thinking of him.
"Why are you dozing off in a place like this?" He asked, joining her under the little shelter, closing his umbrella in the process.
She sat straight and averted her gaze to the side with a little embarrassed smile. "Erm, I got quite tired," She giggled, looking back up to him.
Todoroki stares at her, silent for a while. Then he finally spoke, "You know you would have got hurt or kidnapped if you slept here." He said, sitting beside her. He leaned his back against the wall, "But knowing you, I think you'd be okay."
Momo raises an eyebrow at his statement. "Sorry if I come off as rude, Todoroki, but what does that exactly mean?" She questioned, turning her head to him.
He glances at her briefly before looking back at the street. "You're strong enough to deal with it." Was all he said before silence occupied between the two.
Momo pushed her lips together before mumbling a "Thanks." and sitting properly once again, looking at the street in front of them.
"Why are you here by the way?" Todoroki asked, not taking his eyes off the street.
"Not for the bus, that's for sure," She replied, laughing. "I'm waiting til the rain ends, which will most likely not happen." She then lifted her head to the sky. "What about you?"
"Because you're here." Was his response. Momo tensed at his statement, shoulders rising and eyes widening. She turned her head towards him. "What?" She questioned in a strange manner.
Todoroki glanced at her from the corner of his eyes. "Leaving you alone here seemed wrong." He shrugged slightly.
Momo looked away slowly, a little smile on her lips, a rather awkward one. "I see." She then cleared her throat breifly.
"Why are you outside of the School Grounds though?" She asked, a lot calmer this time, but still quite tensed.
"I was visiting my mother."
".. Oh."
Then, silence occupied the area.
For once, Momo felt quite comfortable of the atmosphere, despite it being quite awkward. She was nervous though of the fact that she was failing miserably at carrying a deep conversations. Every conversation she starts, it ends immediatly. It's embarrassing for the young girl.
"Where are you heading?" Todoroki suddenly asked, not looking over to her.
Momo jolted up a little at his sudden voice speaking. She turned her head to him, a little smile on her lips, "The Cemetery."
"The one nearby that flower shop over there?"
"Mm." Momo nodded.
Todoroki then stood up. "I'll take you there." He stated. Momo immediatly tensed at his statement. With hesitance, she spoke, "The rain is quite harsh today though .."
"It's just a heavy shower. We'll get there soon." He interjected.
Momo stared at him before she then stood up. "I-I hope you don't mind escorting me, Todoroki." She said, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear before looking back at him.
Todoroki glanced at her as he prepared the umbrella. Once it unfolded, he lifted it above his head and walked away from their little shelter.
"I don't." He softly mumbled.
Momo joined him beneath the red umbrella before beginning their journey to the Cemetery.
□
It was quiet.
All there was the sound of rain hitting against the surface of the umbrella and the cars beeping in sync with thr passerbys footsteps. Momo clutched her handbag's straps.
She pushed her lips together as they stopped their tracks and waited to cross the street. She glanced from the corner of her eye to see Todoroki.
He seemed calm unlike her. His shoulders were relaxed while hers were slightly up, rising. His eyes were locked to the other side of the street, while hers was shifting to different directions, mostly on the ground beneath her.
"Hey, Yaoyorozu," Todoroki began, causing Momo to bounce slightly. She then lifted her head to look over to him. "Mm?"
"Why are you heading to the Cemetery today?" Todoroki asked, glancing at her from the corner of his eye. Momo stayed silent for a while, pondering. She looked away and began to stare at the pedestrian light.
"It's okay if you don't want to say it."
Momo didn't say anything. She thought for a while. She already had trust on this guy, but not talking for a while seemed like that bond shattered. But she refused to believe that. She still had that goal of fixing their bond. So, to start of fixing it, she thought that maybe opening up woulf help.
Just Maybe.
"It's my grandmother's death anniversary today."
The pedestrian light turned green and they didn't walk.
"She died after four days after my sixth birthday. I'm still quite miserable about that fact, but I can handle it."
Momo resisted the urge to walk away from the umbrella and him to get to the other side.
Todoroki didn't say anything.
He then began to walk and Momo followed.
"I see." He murmured. "I kind of expected that." He then stated, his voice audible enough.
"What?" Momo turned her head to him as they walked. His eyes were glued to the ground, "I already expected you can handle it."
Momo stayed silent before she looked away.
She was somewhat thrilled to hear him talking about her strength, aknowledging it. He said it just a while ago too, but she didn't feel .. well, she didn't feel like it was true. She felt like it was some kind of icebreaker.
Hearing it twice felt so thrilling. She felt like he still sees the bond.
She didn't, but she refused to believe it wasn't there.
□
They finally reached the gates of the Cemetery. They began to walk on the pavement, passing by graves bathed in rain drops and cherry blossom trees.
"The trees still look pretty." Momo said in awe, raising her head to admire the trees. Todoroki softly replies with a 'Mhm' as they walked. "Where is her grave?"
Momo turned her head to him briefly before looking away, her eyes locked to whatever is ahead to her. She hummed in thought, "Let's just continue walking," She said. "It's somewhere there."
"All right." He continued to walk. Momo smiled to herself as she walked on the pavement.
She still had that goal of fixing their bond and preventing the pattern to continue in mind, sadly though, for the past days, she didn't do much to contribute to her goal. Why? She forgot about it.
Yeah, I know, cheap excuse.
But after being overwhelmed by her father's call, her best friend's (the stranger) kind words, her feelings for the stranger and also her birthday gifts, it was so easy to forget it. When did she recall about the goal? During the time she met him by the door. She's been to infested with her conversations with the stranger, she began to actually think about her bond with Todoroki.
So, she decided to talk him normally again. She decided to take this goal seriously and focus. She will prevent that pattern to continue.
It was a good sign he was comfortable around her.
"Hey, Todoroki," She began. Todoroki glanced at her. She actually had nothing relevant to ask nor say, but she was desperate to talk to him normally again.
She stayed quiet for a while. "D-Do you like the rain?"
Momo turned her head slightly to him. She sees his eyes somehow filled with .. surprise. Momo felt embarassed by this, does she rarely talk to him that much to the point he's surprised that she's starting a conversation?
Momo looked away and gulped softly, waiting for his reply. "I do." He said. "I just like how it's so different from sunny days."
"Different?"
"Sunny days are dull."
Momo giggled awkwardly. "In what way, may I ask?"
"The sun is always out. Always. So the same thing happens every day. I want something different." He stated. "What about you?"
Momo smiled lightly, she was happy he was dragging the conversation. "I like the rain." She said.
"I just don't like I won't be able to see the sun set and the stars in the night sky." She said, chuckling. Todoroki stared at her from the corner of his eye.
"Do you prefer sunsets over sunrises?" He asked. Momo hummed.
"Not really, I like sunrises." She said. "It makes me feel relieved that I'm still alive for another day."
Todoroki softly hummed out a 'Hm.' before he spoke. "You have a point there." He said. "I prefer sunsets though."
Momo let out a little 'Ah', "Why?" She asked, raising an eyebrow from curiousity. He glanced at her, "I see sunsets as symbols you made it to the end of the day in one piece, and it's finally time to rest."
"I like it." He said softly. Lowering his head to the ground. "I also like how it constantly reminds me of things I admire and perhaps enjoy."
Momo stared at him. "Li-Like what?"
Todoroki remained silent for a while, perhaps pondering. This tensed Momo, judging from her shoulders rising and the shade of pink spreading on her cheeks together with her wobbled lips.
She immediatly looks away, "I shouldn't have asked that, I apologize." She said softly, trying to take her attention away from the situation at hand and instead focus on the scent of the rain and the dancing raindrops.
"No, it's fine." He said.
Momo stays silent.
'I messed up.' She thought, lowering her head to the ground in shame. This definitely discourage her from her goal, it made her think she was failing to get there. Despite that negative mindset, she didn't admit to defeat. She still wouldn't give up to erase that pattern, silence then awkward moments.
Suddenly, from the corner of her eye, she finds a familiar light post. She stops her tracks and Todoroki does too. "What's wrong, Yaoyorozu?" He asked.
Momo lifted her head slowly to Todoroki's direction. "We're here."
□ □
Todoroki stood silently together with Momo as they stared at the grave in silence. A huge stone stood tall above two other stones carved into clean boxes with these words engraved on them:
' AIKO YAOYOROZU
19XX - 20XX '
Momo sighed softly at the sight. "It's been a while, grandma." She mumbled before approaching it slowly then bending over beside the grave.
Water starts to hit here skin and her scalp, indicating she has the left the shelter of the umbrella, but she doesn't care.
She picks the worn out lilacs and roses off the vases on each side of the grave. She collected them and piled them in her little hands, admiring their state. Despite them being, well, dead, she still couldn't help but admire the beauty.
Suddenly, the feeling of rain hitting her stopped. She lifted her head up to see an umbrella. Turning her head to the back just a little, she sees Todoroki holding on to the umbrella above her head, but also being soaked in water. He didn't comment anything about his state.
Momo immediatly places the flowers down and stands up from her surprise, hitting her head against the umbrella lightly, this causes Todoroki to lift the umbrella just a little. "Todoroki, you'll catch a cold!" She said, troubled.
Todoroki shruggged. "It's alright." He replied. "If I use the umbrella for myself, you'll get a cold."
Momo's eyes widen. She then furrowed her eyebrows, "Todoroki, your health matters too."
"Yours matters to me too." He answered with no hesitation. Momo slightly tensed but didn't let her guard down.
"My quirk revolves around the cold, I'll be alright."
"Why can't you just scoot over beside me though?"
"The two graves beside your grandmother's is flooded with flowers, I might step on them."
Momo stares with widened eyes as the raindrops continue to hit his hair. She sighed softly before approaching him with slight hesitance, causing Todoroki to bring the umbrella closer.
Soon, they were both under the umbrella. "I'm sorry, Todoroki, but I certainly can not enjoy the peace of the cemetery and rain if you're being soaked by it." She said, grabbing the umbrella's handle and slowly brushing her hand against his.
Todoroki tensed a bit and let out an 'Ah' once she grabbed the umbrella. A bright red color began to spread across her face as she pushed her lips together, staring into his eyes which were filled with surprise.
After staring at him for quite some time, she finally looked away. "Just .. squat beside me."
Todoroki nodded.
Momo leads him in front of the grave and they soon squat down. Momo manages to be in a proper position that doesn't reveal anything private of her skirt.
She glanced at him from the corner of her eye, then smiled. He looked calm despite being soaked in water. His eyes were locked on the empty vases, and somehow, they represented the eyes of a child who just learned his lesson too. She was just happy he didn't look mad or anything. She somehow can tell whatever he's feeling just from the look on his eyes.
"I can hold the umbrella for you." Todoroki suddenly said, looking over to her. Momo was instantly startled to be caught staring at him. Sh and slowly nodded before handing the umbrella.
She then turned her head away from him, allowing the shade on her cheeks to fade slowly. Once that was over, she cleared her throat.
She brought her handbag against her chest then dipped her hands into it. Rustling into her belongings, she finally finished her tasked and pulled out her hands to reveal a bouquet of daffodils.
Yes, the same bouquet Todoroki gave.
She was hesitant by her actions, especially doing in in front of Todoroki. Despite that, she sucked it in and continued her task.
The reason she used that bouquet of flowers instead of new ones, was she wanted to honor her grandmother with something she held dear.
She constantly admired the flowers in her room, she just never thought of the person who gave it to her (Like stated a while ago, she was too busy with the stranger to remember such things).
She softly inhaled before removing the pink wrap surrounding the flowers then separating the bundle into two equal sets. She plunged the first set into the vase on to the right, then to the left, ignoring the rain staining her sleeves.
She smiled at the sight. Those beautiful daffodils was something she thought wasn't worthy in her room, but rather somewhere much more sacred.
She claps her two palms together, then began to pray silently in the heavy shower.
In the silence (not really), Todoroki silently stared at the flowers.
After a few more minutes Momo finally opened her eyes after praying. She picked the dead flowers up then stood up, Todoroki followed.
They both backed away from the grave to admire it for a while. Momo was quite uncomfortable to stare at Todoroki's gift somewhere else with Todoroki himself beside her.
"I don't mind it."
Momo tensed and turned her head to him. "What?"
"I don't mind the daffodils being there." He then met her eyes, causing Momo's shoulders to rise. "I can see you're clearly troubled about it, don't worry."
Momo's lips wobbled before she turned her attention back to the grave. "I just thought your present wasn't .. well, worthy in my room, but rather somewhere memorable." She said, not taking her eyes off the grave.
Todoroki didn't say anything as they stared.
"I'm sorry, Todoroki," She suddenly said. Todoroki glanced at her and noticed her little smile formed on her lips. "You got soaked in water once again because of me. First was during the birthday, now this." She chuckled, embarrassed.
Todoroki lightly shrugged. "It's alright."
"Are you cold?" She asked.
"Not really."
Momo furrowed her eyebrows before pulling her right sleeve up. Her skin began to spark odd colors, then suddenly, a thick, blue towel formed on her skin.
She handed it over and took the umbrella from Todoroki's hand. "Dry up." She said.
"You're wet too."
"I'll dry up later." She averted her gaze as she said it. Todoroki pondered for a bit. Rejecting the offer seemed like a sin, plus she looked quite serious.
After for a while, he took the fabric off her hand. "Thanks." He said before ruffling his hair as he turned away.
Momo sighed softly before turning back to the grave. She watched as the raindrops hit the grave's surface together with the flowers, dancing in the air.
"I'm sorry, grandmother, your day has been ruined by this weather." She stated to herself. Todoroki glanced over, "I thought you like the rain."
"I do, she doesn't though." She chuckled. "Grandmother would always be sad whenever it rained, sometimes even furious." She said. "She would tell me stories everytime it rained, but usually, she would suddenly curse due to the sound of the rain bothering her tale."
She then began to laugh, "Father used to scold her because of it."
Todoroki stayed silent. "She sounds like a lovely woman."
"She really was." She said with a little smile. "What was your grandmother like, Todoroki?"
Todoroki hummed softly. "I only met her once, back when I was still nine or so."
"She brought me to this garden nearby our home. She would let me pick flowers and give them to my mother, she said it would reallly make her happy."
"What happened then?" Momo said.
"I did what she said and it worked. Sadly, that was the first and last time I saw her." Todoroki said, his eyes glowing with a hint of sadness.
"I remember what her last words were, she told me these words before I went running off."
"What were those words, Todoroki?"
Todoroki's lips slowly curled into a little - just a little - barely visible smile.
" 'Go and make her happy' "
Momo's eyes began to sparkle. "That's .. lovely." She said, turning her head back to the grave with a smile. "She sounds wonderful."
Todoroki nodded.
"What else is your grandmother like, Yaoyorozu?"
And just like that, Momo's heart suddenly bursted with relief. She was happy, happy that that comfortable atmosphere that constantly surrounded them finally returned to occupy that space they always had. Momo now saw that bond again, she finally found it, and it seemed quite fragile, but slowly, it will grow stronger and sturdy.
She knows it.
