The Useless Escape

‍‍‍‍‍Her legs shook, her breath quickened, her toes curled and her lips pursed. She saw it coming, coming towards her like a train. She felt it slamming the doors of her heart shut, the windows of her brain open. Her eyes widened as it inched closer and closer. It was no time to play the song Closer in her head because this situation wasn't even near to similar. She heard it rattle, she tasted blood from her tongue and then she did the only thing she could think of. She ran.

She ran and ran and ran so hard, so fast that her eyes watered, her forehead creased, her fingers itched and her body swore. She ran and ran and ran to save herself the stress of facing it.

She had never felt ready, she was sure that she would never feel ready, even if she had been given a million years to prepare. It scared her, it scarred her but she kept on running till she tripped on a rock and collapsed then and there. She felt beads of sweat forming necklaces from her head to the back of her neck. There was no fearing it anymore. She stood on her feet and turned around because she had tried everything to escape the inevitable, but, here she was after all. She had no choice but to face it, get a hold of her emotions and not start running again. She felt like her world was falling apart and breaking gravel by gravel as it came closer. She knew that she had prepared all those years for this but she was afraid to accept the reality and the truth of the situation.

She remembered her journey of a lifetime. She remembered her dark and bright, her fall and rise, but, she just couldn't do it, she THOUGHT.

It came, time had finally caught up to her. She closed her eyes to take in her fall. But, it passed her and she didn't feel it. It crossed her and didn't cut her. She feared this so much yet, right now, it seemed silly. She had finally died only to be reborn in another beautiful world of the dead!
