Chapter 20: Sisters Forever

Hopper gets into his truck with Joyce, Nancy, and Jonathan following him.  Gloria joins as well.  Jace grunts and sits up, squirming around to get comfortable.

"Everything ok?" He asks.

Nancy and Jonathan both jump in surprise, "What the hell are you doing back there?" Jonathan exclaims and sighs.

Fi slowly lifts her head and Nancy frowns as she sees her, "Who's she?" She asks.

"Honey, stay down." Gloria says to Fi and gently pushes her back down to duck and then turns towards Nancy and Jonathan as they sit in the back with her, "It's a long story.  But, that is Fi.  She's looking for her sister." She grunts when Hopper starts the truck and drives them towards Mike's house.  "The girl that boy was describing is her sister, but we need to find her before anyone else does."

Nancy frowns, "Why?"

"Her and her sister were both prisoners of Hawkins lab.  They're the reason why Will went missing.  That thing you both saw came from the lab."  Jace explains.

Jonathan and Nancy both look at him with wide eyes, "Did they create it?" Jonathan stutters.

"No...they freed it." Hopper says and presses harder on the gas.

"Why were they holding her and her sister hostage?" Nancy asks.

"Her and her sister are both special.  They can do things that normal people can't.  They want to turn them both into weapons.  To control them and make more.  We need to find your brother and his friends before the lab does.  Now that they know about Eleven..." Gloria explains.

"They killed Benny...because he knew about her and Fi.  Just because he was trying to help." Jace says.

Nancy gasps and covers her mouth in horror, she remembers hearing about Benny, but it was ruled as suicide.  If they were telling the truth that Benny was murdered...she became scared to death for Mike and her family.

Hopper slowly brings his truck to a stop when he sees the Wheeler's house from afar.  Dozens of cars swarmed the neighborhood and the house.  He grabs his binoculars and looks to see what was happening.

Nancy gets out to look, she gasps in shock as she sees federal agents going in and out of her house.

"I have to go home." Nancy demands.

"No, you can't." Hopper states.

"My mom... my dad are there." Nancy protests.

"They're gonna be okay." Hopper says, but Nancy didn't want to take no for an answer, she begins to march over to her house, but Hopper grabs her arm, holding her back, "Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey."

"Let go. Let go!" Nancy demands.

"Hey! Listen to me. Listen to me. The last thing in the world we need is them knowing you're mixed up in all this." Jace gets out of the truck and pulls her to look at him.

"Mike is over there--" She protests.

"They haven't found him. Not yet, at least." Hopper says as he points at the helicopter that was flying around.

"For Mike?" She gasps.

"Come on, get in the truck." Hopper says to both of them.

Jace rushes to get into the back with Fi while Nancy sits next to Jonathan and Gloria.

Hopper and Joyce turn in their seats to look at Nancy, "Look, we need to find them before they do. Do you have any idea where he might have gone?" Hopper asks.

"No, I don't." Nancy shakes her head.

"I need you to think."

"I don't know. We haven't talked a lot. I mean, lately..." She sighs, worried for her brother.

"Is there any place that your...your parents don't know about that he might go?" Joyce asks.

"I don't know." Nancy stutters out.

But, Jonathan had an idea, "I might."

"What?"

"I don't know where he is, but I think I know how to ask him." Jonathan says.  "Take us home.  To our home." Jonathan says, meaning to the Byes' house.

Hopper rushes to drive them towards the house and everyone scrambles out of the truck. Running into the house.  Nancy skids to a halt when she sees the lights.

"Whoa."

Everyone tears through Will's room for the radio Will had hidden.  Jonathan goes through the desk, Hopper takes the dresser.  Gloria and Jace goes through the closet, but Joyce manages to find it under the bed.

"I got it." She says as she grabs it.

Meanwhile, at the junkyard, Mike and everyone still sat in the bus.  They could still hear the helicopter close by and everyone was too scared to move.  So far, this was safe.  But, how long?

Soon, they hear a voice calling out from the radio.

"Mike, are you there? Mike?"

"You guys hear that?" Dustin asks.

"Mike, it's me, Nancy. Mike, are you there? Answer. Mike, we need you to answer."  Nancy begs.

Mike grabs his radio and everyone was looking at it with caution, why was Nancy contacting him.  They didn't understand it.

"Is that your sister?"

"This is an emergency, Mike. Do you copy? Mike, do you copy?" Nancy continues to reach out to Mike.

"Okay, this is really weird." Dustin frowns.

"Don't answer." Mike stops Lucas from answering when he tries to grab the radio.

"She said it was an emergency." Lucas states.

"What if it's a trick?" Mike says.

"It's your sister!"

"What if the bad people kidnapped her? What if they're forcing her to say this?" Mike says.

"I need you to answer."

"It's like Lando Calrissian. Don't answer." Dustin says with wide eyes.

"We need to know that you're there, Mike."

Suddenly, a new voice speaks on the radio, it was Chief Hopper.

"Listen, kid, this is the chief. If you're there, pick up. We know you're in trouble and we know about the girl."

"Why is she with the chief?"

"How the hell does he know about..."

"We can protect you, we can help you, but you gotta pick up. Are you there? Do you copy? Over."

Hopper waits, and waits, but Mike doesn't answer.  He was about to give up, but Jace had an idea.

"Let Fi speak.  Maybe if Eleven is with Mike, and she hears her..." Jace suggests.

Hopper sighs and holds it up for her.  Fi walks over to him and takes the radio in her hands.  She holds down the button and brings it close.

"Sister...Sister..."

Eleven gasps as the boys watch her face.  She breaths heavily with emotion, tears forming in her eyes.

"Sister?" She cries.

"Sister, it's me.  I'm safe.  It's safe.  Please, talk to Hopper." Fi pleads.

Fi sighs and holds up her pinkie, "Zap." She says.

Eleven cries and holds up her pinkie, Mike frowns at her, "Zap." She sobs and turns to look at Mike, "Answer it.  It's her.  It's her." She begs.

Hopper sighs when Mike wasn't going to answer them.  He gently takes the radio out of her hand and places it down on the dresser.  Jace gently pulls Fi back towards him and rubs her back.

"Anybody got any other ideas?"

Before anyone could answer him, everyone looks over towards the radio as a voice speaks up.

"Yeah, I copy. It's Mike. I'm here. We're here."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dustin breaths heavily as he paces the floor.  Mike has told the Chief where they were located and Hopper and Jace say they were on their way to get them.  But Dustin couldn't shake this horrible feeling in his gut.  Lucas couldn't even stop tapping his feet.
"Will you stop pacing?" Mike says, annoyed with Dustin's nervousness.
"It's been way too long. Do you know what? Maybe you're right. Maybe this is all a trap and the bad men are coming to get us right now!" Dustin exclaims.
"It's not a trap. Why would the chief set us up? Nancy, maybe, but the chief?" Lucas scoffs and Mike looks at him in disbelief. "And you heard that voice.  It was Eleven's sister.  She wouldn't betray her.  Right?" He says as he looks over to Eleven for help.
"Sister would never lie." Eleven states.
"Lando Calrissian." Dustin says.
"Would you shut up about Lando?" Lucas scoffs.
"I don't feel good about this. I don't feel good about this!" Dustin shouts.
Lucas meets his tone, "When do you feel good about anything?"
Suddenly, everyone freezes as they hear cars coming.  They peek out the windshield, hoping it was Jace and Hopper, but it was two black cars.
"Shit!" Dustin exclaims.
Everyone rushes to the back of the bus and hides, "Go, go, go, go." Mike says as he rushes everyone to duck.
"Lando." Dustin pants out softly.
"You think they saw us?" Lucas whispers.
"Both of you, shut up." Mike says and all of them became quiet as they listen out for the bad men.
They could hear the bad men walking around and the sound of guns cocking.  Dustin squeezes his eyes shut as he prays for help.  Eleven and Mike both hid together behind a big seat.  Suddenly, they hear grunting.
"Hey!" A man shouts and yells as a fight breaks out.
"Unc!" Jace shouts.
The sounds of blows landing was made and a man grunts in pain.
"What the--" Another man grunts and a loud thud was made, as if someone hit the ground hard.  Then it became quiet.  Too quiet.
They gasp as the door creaks open, but when they look to see who it was, they were shocked and relieved to see it was Jace and Chief Hopper.
Hopper stood, breathing heavily from the fight outside. "All right, let's go. Let's go!" He shouts when no one was moving.
"Come on, guys!" Jace urges them out of the bus.
"Man, it's good to see you." Mike exclaims and hugs him tight and Dustin jumps on Jace's back as Lucas takes his arm.
Jace grunts at the extra weight on him, "Yeah, good to see you guys too." He grunts and drags them towards the truck.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As night has fallen, Joyce waits with Jonathan, Nancy, Gloria, and Fi for Jace and Hopper to come back with the kids.  Fi breaths heavily with anxiety as she waits for her sister to come back.  She couldn't wait to see her again. Joyce was nice enough to let Fi borrow some clothes since Gloria couldn't get her something new.  She borrowed some old jeans and a sweater.  It was a little large for her tiny figure, but she made it work.

(Five's sweater she borrows)

Soon, light pours through the windows and everyone gets up to meet Hopper and Jace outside.

Nancy rushes as she sees Mike coming out of the truck, "Mike. Oh, my God. Mike! I was so worried about you." She exclaims as she hugs him tight.  She sighs in relief and pulls away to see Mike's shocked face.

"Yeah, uh... me, too." Mike mutters.

Nancy catches a girl at the corner of her eyes and notices what she was wearing, "Is that my dress?" She asks.

Eleven stood like a deer in headlights.

"Sister?" Fi speaks up.

Gloria and Joyce moves out of the way for Eleven to see.  Standing on the porch was Fi.  Eleven was frozen where she stood.  She couldn't believe she was back with her sister.  Her heart fills with joy once again.

She sobs softly, "Sister." Her voice breaks.

Fi rushes down the steps as Eleven meets her halfway.  They open their arms for each other, holding on one another.  Sobbing happily in each other's arms.

"Sister." Fi sobs as she holds her close.

Eleven cries against Fi.  Both of them fall to their knees as they continue to hold on to each other.  Eleven buries her face in Fi's shoulder.

"I missed you, Sister." Fi sobs.

"I missed you." Eleven cries.

Everyone watches them with heavy hearts.  Seeing their relief and happiness after being apart for so long.  The emotion was thick in the air, they could feel it as if it was their own.

Fi kisses Eleven's head and smiles with tears pouring down her face, so happy that her sister was alive and safe. Eleven sniffles as they pull apart, Fi sighs and wipes away her tears.  "Zap." She holds up a pinkie.

Eleven laughs sadly, "Zap." She says as she presses her own pinkie on her sisters.

Fi looks up as she sees the boys watching them, Eleven turns and gets to her feet and stand next to Mike.  "Sister.  Mike." She says as she places a hand on Mike's arm.  "He saved me."

"Mike." Fi smiles and moves to hug him.

Mike grunts in surprise and hugs her back.

Eleven moves to stand in between Lucas and Dustin, "Lucas.  Dustin. Friends."

Fi moves and pulls them both for a hug, "Thank you." She says softly.

Lucas grunts and Dustin simply hugs back with a grin.

"Come on, we can't stay out here long.  They're still looking for us." Gloria says.

Fi lets go of the boys and moves to throw her arm around Eleven, walking with her into the house.

Mike, Lucas, and Dustin follow behind, "Wow." Dustin grins.

"What?" Lucas frowns at him.

"El's sister is hot." Dustin chuckles and grunts when he's slapped in the back of the head by Mike and Lucas.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soon, Mike sits down with everyone and explains everything they know about the lab and the gate. He holds up a picture of the acrobat and the flea, repeating what Mr. Clarke told them.
"Okay, so, in this example, we're the acrobat. Will and Barbara, and that monster, they're this flea. And this is the Upside Down, where Will is hiding. Mr. Clarke said the only way to get there is through a rip of time and space." Mike says.
"A gate."
"That we tracked to Hawkins Lab." Mike adds.
"With our compasses." Dustin says, but everyone frowns at him in confusion, "Okay, so the gate has a really strong electromagnetic field, and that can change the directions of a compass needle." He explains.
"Is this gate underground?" Hopper asks.
"Yes." Eleven speaks up.
"Near a large water tank?" Hopper asks again.
"Yes." Eleven says.
The boys frown at him in surprise, "How do you know all that?" Dustin stutters.
"He's seen it." Mike says in realization.
"Is there any way that you could...that you could reach Will? That you could talk to him in this--" Joyce begins to ask.
"The Upside Down." Eleven corrects her.
"Down. Yeah." Joyce whispers.
Eleven nods.
"And my friend Barbara? Can you find her, too?" Nancy asks with hope in her eyes.
Eleven sighs softly and looks over to Fi, "Sister, help?" She asks.
Fi looks at her in surprise, "I can help." She nods.
Eleven turns back to looks at Joyce and the others, "We'll need a picture." She says.
Together, Eleven and Fi sat at the table with their eyes closed.  Only sound that was made was the static of the radio.  Everyone begins to hover around them.  Barbara's picture was near the radio.  With a visual, it shouldn't be too hard for them to find them.  And they already knew what Will looked like.
"Wait, let's take a few feet back." Gloria warns as she and Jace gently holds them back.
Fi's eyes begin to flicker as loud crackling sounds were made around her.  Eleven's eyes were moving rapidly as she searches in her mind.  Fi grunts as she twitches, everyone's eyes widen as they could see small statics of electricity trailing up her arms.
The static increases over the radio and, suddenly, the lights flicker.  Eleven snaps her eyes open as the lights come on and Fi gasps and pants softly.
"I'm sorry." Eleven looks at Joyce with sadness.
"What?" Joyce frowns and stutters in confusion, "What's wrong? What happened?"
"We can't find them." Eleven's voice breaks.
Everyone looks down in disappointment, but Gloria walks up to her and gives her a small hug, "It's ok, Honey." She whispers and kisses her head.
"Fi?" Jace eyes Fiona with concerned as she begins to sway where she sat.
Groaning softly, she falls out of her chair in exhaustion. Jace shouts and rushes to catch.
"Fiona!" He shouts as everyone gathers around while he holds her limp body in his arms.  Gloria rushes and checks her vitals.
"Is she ok?" Nancy exclaims.
"Her pulse is weak.  She used too much energy. We need to recharge her.  Joyce, go to the truck, there's an EEG machine in the back.  Bring it inside." Gloria says.
Joyce rushes towards the truck and opens the trunk.  She sees a large machine and grunts as she pulls it into her arms.  She struggles to bring it inside the house and places it on the table.
Jace scrambles to get the headgear on Fi and turns the machine on.
"Oh, shit, her waves are dangerously low." Jace gasps as he sees the numbers dropping.
"What's wrong with her?" Hopper asks.
"When she uses her powers, she drains like a battery.  In order to get better, she needs power.  Any sort of power that can replace what she lost." Jace explains.
"Flipping those vans would do it." Gloria mutters and gets to her feet, "Ok, Jonathan, do you and Joyce keep any fresh batteries or something with a lot of power?" She asks.
Joyce stutters, "Will keeps batteries for his radio in his room."
Jace watches Fi's head fall back in weakness, he looks up and shakes his head, "This is gonna take more than a few batteries.  She needs a large source of power."
"Sister." Eleven whimpers as she holds her hand with worry, she looks up at Jace, "When Sister goes too far, Papa takes her to the grounding room.  He says Sister needs, at least, 15,000 volts to improve." She says, confused with what she just said.  She didn't know what volts mean.
"15,000..." Joyce gasps with wide eyes.
"Where the hell can we get 15,000 volts?" Hopper says.
Mike gasps, "I know!" He says and rushes out the door.   He rushes back inside and frowns at the grown ups.  "Come on! I can't do this by myself." He gasps.
Jonathan, Gloria, and Joyce rush to follow him.  Mike rushes to Joyce's car.
"Pop the hood." Mike says.
Jonathan rushes to get inside the car and pops the hood, Mike grunts as he tries to get the battery out of the car.  Joyce moves to help him.
"I need jumper cables." Mike says.
Gloria rushes around to the trunk and digs around, "Got them!"
Jace slowly places Fi down on the floor and Gloria gives him one positive and negative clamp when she holds the others.
Mike reaches and grabs a taser out of Jace's belt, "Woah! Whoa! What do you think you're doing?!" Jace grabs his wrist fast.
"I'm gonna increase the power. The car battery alone has only 12 volts, but your taser has 10,000.  With the help of a DC voltmeter, we can increase the power to 5,000." Mike explains.  (I have no idea if they started off with 10,000 or what back then with tasers...shot in the dark)
"But, can we do that without it exploding?" Jace asks sarcastically as he snatches it out of his hands.
"With the taser pointed at the grounded points, just for a second, it can increase the power high enough for Fi to absorb." Mike says.
"Jace, we don't have much time.  One second might be enough for her." Gloria says.
Jace sighs heavily, "God help me." He whispers.  "We need some gloves." He says.
Soon, Jonathan runs in the house with a pair of rubber gloves.  Jace holds the cables in his gloved hands and Gloria holds the other end part of the cables while Hopper holds the taser.
"Ok." Jace sighs. "On three.  One." He shudders.  "Two." Gloria gets ready to clamp the cables and Hopper's finger was on the button to start the taser.  "Three!"
At the same time, Gloria snaps the cables on the battery and Hopper turns on the taser.  Sparks flew around the battery and Jace presses the clamps over Fi's chest.
Fi's eyes snaps open wide.  She gasps and arches her back as electrical currents rush through her body.  She yells as he bolts erupt inside her, all around her.  When she opened her mouth to yell, bolts zap loudly all inside throughout her body.
Jace yanks the cables away and Gloria unclamps them.  Fi pants heavily as she lies on the floor.  Her eyes wide as if she had a huge rush of energy.  She sighs softly as she feels Jace cup her face in his hands.
"Hey.  You ok?" He asks softly.
Fi gives him a small smile, "Jace."
"I'm here." He strokes her cheek, relieved that she was ok.  He helps her sit up and jumps when Eleven rushes to hug her tight.
"Sister." Eleven whimpers.
"I'm ok." Fi sighs and hugs her back.  "I'm ok."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Eleven and Fi excused themselves to go to the bathroom.  Fi splashes water over her face and rubs the water all over.  That was such a rush for her.  She was still shaking.  She felt better, but her face felt hot.  She never felt that way before after a recharge.  When Jace touched her, her skin felt so...warm.  But, now she was feeling better with the cold water trailing down her skin.  She frowns when she notices the burn marks on her shirt.  Where Jace pressed the cables.  She pulls her shirt down and sees red blisters on her skin.  She sighs softly and looks over at Eleven who leaned on the wall.

"Sister, are you ok?" She asks.

Eleven sighs and shakes her head, "Mmm-mmm."

Fi shuts off the water and moves to stand close to her, "You need to rest.  You've been using too much."

Eleven looks up at her, "But, I want to find them.  I want to help."

Fi brings her close and hugs her, "You will.  We will.  Just need to rest."

Eleven sighs and something catches her eyes,  the bathtub.  She had an idea.

"Whenever she uses her powers, she gets weak. The more energy she uses, the more tired she gets." Mike explains.

"Like how Fi gets when she uses." Jace says.

"Like, she flipped the van earlier." Lucas says.

"It was awesome." Dustin chuckles.

Joyce and Gloria shared a look, remembering that Fi flipped two vans earlier.

"But she's drained. Like a bad battery." Mike adds.

"Well...How do we make her better?  Do we charge her up like Fi?" Joyce asks.

"We don't. We just have to wait and try again." Mike shrugs.

"Well, how long?" Nancy asks.

"I don't know." Mike sighs.

Joyce and Nancy didn't mean to be so insensitive, but they needed to get Will and Barb out of Upside down and fast before the monster gets them.

"The bath." Eleven, suddenly, speaks from behind everyone.

Everyone turns to look at Fi and Eleven as they stand side by side to each other.

"What?" Joyce asks.

"I can find them. In the bath." Eleven says.

Joyce, Gloria, Jace, and Hopper shared a knowing look.

"Bath.  You mean that water tank in the lab?" Hopper asks.

"Yes." Eleven says.

"She's talking about the isolation chamber.  The sensory deprivation tank." Gloria says.

"Anyone know how to build one?" Nancy asks.

Everyone was clueless, but Dustin, suddenly, had an idea, "No, but I think I know someone who does." He gets up and dials a number from Joyce's phone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the same time, the person who Dustin suggested was actually home on a date.  Mr. Clarke snuggles on the couch with his date as they watch The Thing on the tv.  The woman was groaning in disgust as she covers her eyes.
"Oh! Oh. Oh, my...No, mmm-mmm."
"Hey, you know how they did that? You know what that is?" He asks her.
The woman looks up at him, shaking her head, "No, what?" She sighs.
"Melted plastic and microwaved bubble gum." Mr. Clarke says.
The woman looks at him in shock, "No way. Really?" She gasps.
"Really." Mr. Clarke chuckles.
Both, suddenly, gasp and jump in fright as the phone begins to ring, "What in the world?" Mr. Clarke mutters.
"Do you want me to pause it?" She asks.
"I'm sure it's just a wrong number." He waves it off, but gets up to answer it. "Hello?"
"Mr. Clarke? It's Dustin." Dustin says over the line.
"Dustin? Is everything okay?" Mr. Clarke asks, frowning as he was surprised that Dustin was calling him so suddenly.
"Yeah, yeah. I just, I...I have a science question."
"It's ten o'clock on Saturday. Why don't we pick this up--"
"Do you know anything about sensory deprivation tanks? Specifically how to build one?"
Mr. Clarke stutters in surprise, "Sensory deprivation? What is this for?" He asks.
Dustin was hesitant as he tries to think of an excuse, "Fun."
Mr. Clarke frowns at how far these boys were going with science, "Well...Why don't we talk about it Monday? After school, okay?" He asks.
"You always say we should never stop being curious. To always open any curiosity door we find."
"Dustin--"
"Why are you keeping this curiosity door locked?"
Mr. Clarke sighs deeply, rolling his eyes as he realizes his advice just came back to haunt him and bite him in the ass on a massive scale.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dustin writes down everything Mr. Clarke tells him, "Uh-huh.  Uh-huh. How much? Uh-huh. Yep, all right. Yeah, we'll be careful. Definitely. All right, Mr. Clarke. Yeah, I'll see you on Monday. I'll see you on Monday, Mr. Clarke. Bye." He quickly hangs up phone and looks up at Joyce, "Do you still have that kiddie pool we bobbed for apples in?" He asks.

"I think so. Yeah. Yeah." Joyce stutters, nodding.

"Good. Then we just need salt. Lots of it." Dustin says.

"How much is 'lots'?"

Dustin looks back at his notes and winces, "1,500 pounds."

Everyone looks at him with wide eyes and scoff, Gloria laughs in disbelief as she rubs her head, "Well, where are we gonna get that much salt?" She scoffs.

Hopper had a lightbulb go off above his head, "I know."

Before they realize it, Jonathan, Jace, and Hopper made their way towards to where they keep road salts for snowy days, the middle school.  Hopper was the chief so he had a key and easy access for it.  Hopper grabbed bag after bag and like a train, they toss salt bags to each other to fill up a wheelbarrow.

Jonathan grunts as he catches a bag, "Hey, wait. It's not gonna snow next week, is it?" He frowns.

"Worst case, no school." Hopper jokes.

Jace snorts and catches the bag Hopper tosses at him, "Think of it like this, this is for a good cause."

Jonathan sighs and catches the bags, but stops when he realizes something, "Even if we find Will in there...what are we gonna do about that thing?" He asks, meaning the creature...or Demogorgon Mike and the others called it.

"We're not gonna do anything. I don't want you anywhere near this, all right? Your mom's been through enough already." Hopper states.

"Yeah, Jonathan.  We got it." Jace says.

"Uh-uh.  You, too.  You already faced it once and got damn near killed." Hopper protests.

"Unc..."

Hopper cuts him off, "No."

"He's my brother." Jonathan protests as he interrupts their argument.

Hopper turns and grabs Jonathan by his shoulders gently, "Listen to me. I'm gonna find him. All right? You gotta trust me on this. I am going to find him." He promises and turns to look at Jace, "And you, you don't always have to watch out for me.  Let me watch out for you this time.  And I'm telling you to stay behind."

Jace sighs and grits his teeth, but nods anyway.
