Chapter 13: Finding the Truth

After his fight with his mother, Jonathan calmed down after his long talk with Jace.  They always been friends even after Jace graduated high school.  Jace was one of the few who was nice to him.  Even though Jace was a senior and he was a sophomore, labels didn't matter.  They grew up together then Jace moved but still visited over the summers.  And he remembers how nice he was to his brother and his friends.  He was practically family.  Then Jace's dad passed and his mom remarried to a grade-A asshole.  After the step-dad left him and his mom, Jonathan knew things were going to be hard for him.  Especially with him and his mom both broke.  Last he heard was that his mom was living with the in-laws of her first husband till she can get back on her feet and Jace is stuck here till he can afford to go to college.  He hopes Jace can make his dreams come true.

Anyway, after everything that happened today.  He was still angry and so devastated about Will.  Still, he needed to have everything arranged in time for the funeral.  First thing he did was go see the director and pick out the best coffin for his brother.

"It's made of soft wood with a crepe interior. Uh, now, I...I don't know what your budget is, but over here, we...we have copper and bronze." The director goes on as he shows off what he has, but hesitant, knowing that his family didn't have much money to afford a funeral.

Jonathan sighs as he stares at the coffin.  Still couldn't believe that he was here, buying a casket for his brother.  He felt like a zombie.  Until he looks around and sees Nancy.  He frowns in confusion with why she was here.

He turns towards the director, "Can you just give me a second?" He asks, stammering his words.

"Of course." The director nods and moves away.

Jonathan walks over towards Nancy, watching her give him a sympathetic look. "Hey." He says.

"Hey.  Your mom, um... she said you'd be here. I just..." She sighs and inhales deeply, swallowing her pride.  She needed to talk to him and find out if he saw anything when Barb went missing, "Can we talk for a second?" She asks.

Soon, they were sitting down as Nancy explains everything.  Showing him the picture of Barbara and the figure behind her.

Jonathan frowns as he exams it, "It looks like it could be some kind of perspective distortion, but I wasn't using the wide angle. I don't know.  It's weird."

"And you're sure you didn't see anyone else out there?" She asks.

Jonathan shakes his head, "No.  And she was there one second and then, um...gone. I figured she bolted." He shrugs.

Nancy sighs in disappointment, "The cops think that she ran away. But they don't know Barb. And I went back to Steve's...and I thought I...saw something. Some...weird man or...I don't know what it was." She scoffs, then realizes what she was doing.  Practically interrogating him in a funeral home as he was preparing for one for his brother.  "I'm sorry. I...I shouldn't have come here today. I'm...I'm so sorry." She says as she grabs the picture and her stuff, getting ready to leave, but Jonathan stops her.

"What'd he look like?" He asks.

Nancy stops and turns back towards him with a frown, "What?"

"This man you saw in the woods. What'd he look like?" He asks.

Stammering as she tries to remember, "I don't know. It was almost like he...he didn't have--"

"Didn't have a face?" He asks.

Giving him a surprised look, "How did you know that?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jim managed to track O'Bannon down at a local bar.  Watching the game as he guzzle down beers and hard liquor.  That tells him he had a lot of guilt hanging inside him.  Only reason why a man would drink so much, he had a lot of guilt to bury.
The bar was barely packed, so it was easy to spot the trooper right away, but he didn't approach him so quickly, not till he was into the game.  The crowd chattered in the background while the tv blasted the game.  Jim lights up a cigarette and begins to order from the bar.  After a few drinks and shouts at the tv, he was slowly and casually breaking the ice with the trooper.
"Aw, come on!" O'Bannon shouts in disappointment and Jim joins him as they both glare at the TV.
After Jim finishes his drink, he holds up a finger for the bartender, "Another, please. And another for my, uh, friend here." He says as he nods at O'Bannon.
"Oh, thanks, man. Appreciate it." O'Bannon says, surprised at such a nice gesture.
"Yeah, that's all right." Jim says as he lifts his glass as a salute, "I'm, uh... I'm celebrating.  My daughter, she won the spelling bee today." He chuckles and drinks with O'Bannon.
"Is that right?" O'Bannon smiles at the proud father.
"Yeah, that's right. 'Odontalgia'. That was the word. You know what it means? It's a fancy name for a toothache." Jim laughs at the memories. "Yeah, she's smart. She's real smart. Don't know where she gets it from. I've been tryin' to figure that out for years." He scoffs and laughs.  Thinking of the past.  Even though it was just to get O'Bannon to open up to him, it was partly the truth.
"Your daughter, she got a name?" O'Bannon asks.
Jim lifts his brows, missing what he was asking, "What?"
"Your daughter? What's her name?" O'Bannon asks.
For a brief and painful moment, Jim hesitated.  Saying her name was too painful for him.  Always brought such a tight feeling in his chest.  As if his heart was breaking all over again.  He craved for his pills, but he needed to keep himself sober for this.  So, he pushes through the pain and speaks again.
"Sarah. Her name's Sarah." He says.
O'Bannon holds up his glass, "To Sarah." He toasts.
They click their glasses and down the rest of their drinks.  Jim, suddenly, had a look of recognition as he looks at O'Bannon closer.
"I recognize you. Are you famous or somethin'?" He asks, squinting to get a good look at him.
O'Bannon was a bit embarrassed and yet, prideful, "Uh, you might have seen me on TV, I, uh...I found that Byers boy." He mutters.
"So, you on that case or what?" Jim asks, starting his interrogation.
O'Bannon shrugs, "I just saw him on patrol, you know? Dumb luck." He says.
Jim eyes his body language, he was hiding something, "So that quarry, that's, uh...that's state-run, where they found the boy, huh?" He asks.
"Yeah."
Jim suddenly chuckles, "Yeah, well, that's funny. 'Cause, you know, I know for a fact that it's run by the Sattler Company. Frank Sattler? Decent guy, still got a couple operational quarries up in Roane." He states.
"Is that right?"
"Yeah. That's right.  So why are you lying to me, man?" Jim asks with a frown.
O'Bannon was surprised with how Jim's tone changes, "What's your problem, bud?"
"I don't have a problem. I'm just a concerned citizen." Jim shrugs.
"Yeah?" O'Bannon pays for his drinks and gets up, but sends Jim a threatening glare, "Well, stick your nose someplace else. The kid is dead. End of story. Thanks for ruining the game, dick." He spats and storms away.
Jim scoffs and inhales one more drag from his cigarette before getting up and stalking O'Bannon outside.  Before O'Bannon knew it, Jim had him up against the side of a building.  Punching him in the gut.
Jim pants as he holds O'Bannon up against the brick wall, "Okay...Let's try this one more time."
O'Bannon was a groaning mess against the brick wall.
"Who told you to be out there? What were you doing out there?" He glares at O'Bannon.  When O'Bannon wouldn't talk, he rears his fist back but O'Bannon waves his hands in surrender.
"I don't know! I don't know. They...they just told me to call it in and not let anybody get too close." O'Bannon groans out.
"Get close to what?" Jim demands.
"The body."
Jim frowns in confusion, why would they be so concerned with who gets close to Will's body?  It didn't make any sense.
"Who do you work for? The NSA? Hawkins Lab?" Jim asks, demanding him to answer as he holds O'Bannon up against the wall by his collar.  O'Bannon's eyes widen in fear as he looks over Jim's shoulder.  Jim looks quickly and sees a black car parked not too far from them and someone was inside it.  Watching them. "Who is that?"
"You're gonna get us both killed." O'Bannon says in terror.
"Who is that?" Jim demanded and lets go of O'Bannon and grabs his gun. The car begins to start up and O'Bannon runs out of there.  "Hey! Hey!" Jim rushes towards the car but the car takes off.  He turns and sees O'Bannon was gone.  What is the big deal about Will's body?  He needs to know.
Jim rushes towards his car and grabs his radio, "Jace, come back."
"I read you, Unc.  Over." Jace answers after a few seconds.
"I just had a chat with the trooper.  And had a visitor that interrupted us." Jim says, panting softly.
"The lab?" Jace asks.
"I think so.  I didn't get a good look, but it was pretty shady.  O'Bannon said something that someone didn't want anyone get close to Will's body." Jim says.
"Why are they...Never mind, I don't think I have to ask.  This says that the lab is hiding something all right.  But what's the big deal about the body?" Jace stutters.
"I don't know." Jim rubs his nose, "I'm gonna make a stop at the morgue and find out for myself."
"Unc, be careful.  This is government territory we're talking about here.  I may sound like a nut case, but if these guys are hiding something...well...look what happened to Benny." Jace warns.
"I know, Jace.  This is why we need to do this.  Look, if you don't hear back from me within..." He checks his watch.  "Half an hour, call Callahan and Powell, let them in the loop."
Jace scoffs, "Those two ass-wipes?  Unc, they won't believe a word.  Powell doesn't even believe about Chester Gilmore or Terry Ives.  Unc, I hate to say this, but...we might be on our own."
Jim sighs heavily, thinking how true that was.  They were on their own.
"Fine.  If you don't hear back from me...take care of yourself, Jace." Jim says and cuts the radio.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Meanwhile, three parties divided to search for Will on their own.  Joyce was at home, struggling to reach out to her son once more and prove to everyone that Will is alive and she wasn't crazy.  She turned on the lights and blasted his favorite song on the boom box. 'Should I Stay or Should I Go.

She paces around the living room, waiting impatiently for him to come forth an speak to her someway.  Somehow.

"Come on! Come on! Talk to me! I know you're here!" She shouts out.  Hoping for Will to hear her.

As she was calling out to Will, Mike, Eleven, Dustin and Lucas rushed towards Mr. Clarks office to use the Heathkit.

"Come on." Mike pushes them all inside the office and helps Eleven sit down in front of the radio.

"Now what?" Dustin asks.

"She'll find him.  Right, El?" Mike says.

Eleven sighs as she looks at the radio.  She closes her eyes and calls forth the energy to connect.  To find Will.

But, her mind begins to drift with the frequencies tuning in the background.  She thinks of the time when Papa assigned her to find someone for him.

"Eleven? Are you listening? That man before you...I need you to find him." Papa says as he pours some water.

Eleven sat in a chair as she looks at the picture in front of her on the table.  She hugs her legs as she sat worriedly, thinking he wanted her to kill this person.

"Hurt him?" She asks softly.

"No. No, I don't want you to hurt him. I want you to listen to him." He says as he sits next to her.

"Listen?" She was surprised at this.

"Yes. I want you to listen to what he says and repeat his words back to me. Just like we used to with those old nursery rhymes. Do you remember? Hmm? If you succeed, then you can play with Five for a whole day again.  Would you like that?"

"Yes."  Eleven says.

"Good.  Now, all you have to do is just find him and listen to what words are being said by this man and repeat them.  Do you think you can do that for me?" Papa asks.

Eleven nods, "Mmm-hmm."

"Good." Papa smiles.

Eleven sighs and looks at the picture.  She closes her eyes and calls forth her energy.

Papa turns to the two way mirror and nods at his men.

"Begin."  A man speaks over the P.A. in another room, on the other side of the lab.

The same man from the picture holds up a list of words and begins to recite them, "Amulet. Frigid. Evolve. Airplane."

Papa frowns when Eleven remains quiet, "Eleven? Repeat the words."

Suddenly, the lights shut off in the room.  Papa jumps in surprise, but what really shocked him was that he could hear the man's voice coming from the speakers in the room.

"Apricot. Peninsula. Game. Enchantment. Mouse. Balloon."

Papa grins as he looks at Eleven.  He was even more proud of her.  Even though she didn't do what he wanted, but she showed him what she can do.  He knew there wasn't a microphone in that room and yet, he was speaking in the intercom with no trouble.  Amazing.

Mike, Lucas, and Dustin all hover around her, watching every move she made.

"She's doing it.  She's finding him!" Mike says.

"This is crazy." Lucas scoffs.

"Calm down."  Dustin says.

"She just closed her eyes." Lucas exclaims.

Suddenly, the lights go out, except for the lamp on the table.  They gasp in surprise and shock.

"Holy..."

Suddenly, clanging was made over the radio.  The three of them lean in to hear it.

Jace stops when he realizes the signal was coming from the Byers place.  It was definitely stronger where he parked the car.  He was literally just about 20 feet away from the house.

"I can't go any further.  Joyce is home and she won't talk to me.  She doesn't want to talk to anyone." Jace sighs.

"I don't believe it's a good idea to talk to her in the state she's in.  After what happened in the streets." Gloria sighs.

Suddenly, they both jump as they hear intense sounds of clanging on the radio.  Fi still mutters as she continues to call forth her energy.  She was struggling with all her might to hold on to the signal.

"What is that?" Gloria frowns.

"I don't know." Jace shakes his head.

Mike, Dustin, and Lucas all frown in confusion of the noise.  The clanging grows and blends with the tuning of the radio.

"What is that?" Mike frowns.

The radio continues to blare the song, but soon, Joyce begins to hear the faint sounds of clanging.  She frowns in confusion and quickly shuts off the music.  It was getting louder as she walks towards the wall.  The same wall where the creature tried to break through.

She presses her ear against the wallpaper and hears something.  A child whimpering.

She gasps softly and continues to hear.

"Mom?" Will's voice echoes from behind the wall.

She covers her mouth and cries as she gasps, "Will?"

"Mom?"

Mike, Dustin, and Lucas all gasp in shock as they hear their best friend over the radio.  Lucas was in more shock.  After denying so much, he was actually hearing Will's voice.  He was alive.

"No way!" Lucas whispers.

"Mom..."

"Oh, my god." Gloria whispers and covers her mouth.

" It's him. He's alive.  I told you.  He's alive." Jace gasps.

Joyce was gasping and crying in shock, "Will!"

"Please..." Will whimpers.

"Will! Will! Will...Will!" Joyce rushes outside to see him, hoping he was there.  But he wasn't.  She was confused.  She rushes back inside and still, she could hear him.  It was as if he was trapped inside the wall.

"Mom!" Will continues to call out to her.

"Will! I'm here! I'm here! Oh, God..." Joyce calls out to him.

"Mom!"

"Will!" Mike calls out to him over the microphone.

"Will, it's us! Are you there?" Dustin calls out.

"Can you hear us? We're here!" Lucas shouts.

"Hello? Mom?"

Jace grabs his radio, "Will, it's me.  It's Jace.  Can you hear me?  Will!"

"Mom..." Will continues to call out to his mom.  He couldn't hear anyone.

"I don't understand it.  If we can hear him, why can't he hear us?" Gloria exclaims.

"Why can't he hear us?" Lucas demands.

"I don't know!" Mike yells, furious as well that they couldn't reach out to him.

Joyce continues to call out to Will, she was so happy to hear his voice again.

Joyce sobs happily, "Baby..."

"Mom?

Joyce aggressively tears through the wallpaper, ripping through it till she reached a fleshly, foggy, transparent wall. She exclaims when she could see Will behind it. He presses his hand against the wall. Trying to reach out to her.

"Oh, God. Will!" She exclaims.

"Mom!" His voice echoes all around.

She was so happy that he was alive, but he looked terrified.  She tries to find away to free him, but she couldn't.

"Oh, thank God." She cries, "Baby...Will..."

Suddenly, they both jump as they hear growling.

Gloria and Jace continue to listen, "Mom...Mom, it's coming!"

"Come on, sweetie.  Give us a sign of where you are." Gloria mutters as she continues to hear Will call out and whimper.

Jace grips on to his wheel tightly.  He wanted to help him, but how can he when he doesn't even know where he was.

"Tell me where you are! How do I get to you?" Joyce calls out to him, hoping to that he will tell her where he was so she can find him.

"It's like home, but it's so dark...It's so dark and empty. And it's cold!  Mom? Mom!"

Everyone listens to their radios, hearing their friend's terrified voice echoing around them.  Dustin had tears forming in his eyes, happy that Will was alive but scared for him.  That growl sent horrible chills up all three boys' spines.  Gloria and Jace couldn't take their eyes off the radio as they listen to what Will described.

"Listen to me! I swear I'm gonna get to you, okay? But right now, I need you to hide." Joyce struggles to get Will to listen to her.  She needed to protect him.

"Mom, please!" Will begs.

"No, no, listen! Listen, I..." Joyce stutters and whimpers in fear at that growling as it draws closer towards them.  "I will find you, but you have to run now! Run! Run!" She screams and watches in shock as the tear she made in the wall begins to shrink till she couldn't see Will anymore.  But she saw him run away.  Run from the monster as it screeched so loudly.

Gloria and Jace both cover their ears in pain at the loud screech.

Five snaps her head towards a direction.  She could sense a familiar wave nearby, "Sister?"

"Sister..." Five's voice echoes over the radio.

Mike, Dustin, and Lucas frown at the new voice on the radio.  Eleven gasps as her eyes snap open, "Sister!" She shouts.

The four of them all jump when the fuses in the Heathkit blow and spark.  Causing a small fire.  The boys yelp and exclaim as they rush around the room to find the extinguisher.  The fire alarm suddenly goes off and continues to blare as they put the fire out.

Eleven falls back against the chair in exhaustion as blood pours down her nose and her face looked so pale.

"El, are you okay?" Mike checks over her gently.

"Oh!" Lucas jumps as Dustin continues to put out the fire.

Eleven was so weak, she could barely speak.

"Can you move?" Mike asks, but Eleven shakes her head.  "Here, help her up." Mike says as he and Dustin struggle to get her up on her feet.

Gloria and Jace both yelp when the radio sparks and fries, "Jesus!" Gloria exclaims and helps Jace put the fire out.  Jace jumps out of his car and rushes to check on Five.  He snatches the door open and checks her.

"Hey, hey, you ok?" He asks softly.

"Jace..." She says weakly as she lies limp over the seats with blood dripping from her nose and ears.

Jace gently cradles her head in his hands and exams her, "Oh, god." He whispers and caresses her cheeks, "I'm sorry."

Five sighs softly, "I wanted to help." She gives him a soft smile.

"You did." He sighs softly, "Come on.  I'm gonna take you home." He says as he gets back into the drivers seat and takes off back to his house.

Joyce wasn't going to give up. She grabs the axe she got out of the shed and begins to chop a hole into the wall.  She wanted Will back now!  She wasn't going to let that monster get him! She continues to chop till she could see light.  She could see the faint sunlight shining and the birds chirping.  She drops the axe out of her limp hands and sobs softly.

"Will." She whispers.

Mike managed to find a wheelbarrow and placed Eleven on it.  Together, the three of them rush out of the school while everyone was doing the fire drill.

When night finally fell, Joyce found herself sitting on the floor and lights pouring into the hole in the wall.  She slowly gets up and sees a car pulling up.  She was surprised to see who it was as they park in front of her house.

"Babe...Jesus, the hell happened?" Lonnie exclaims in shock and concerned as he sees the hole in the house and Joyce's broken hearted face.

She couldn't speak.  She was just so happy to see someone.  She burst into tears and falls into his arms.

"Lonnie."

Lonnie frowns as he holds her into his arms.  Trying to calm her.  After hearing about Will, he had to come down and see Joyce.

After convincing Jonathan about the picture and discovering that Nany was claiming she saw the same thing his mom saw, he believed maybe the answer was in the picture.  So, the two of them headed towards the school's dark room to enhance the picture so they could see the figure better.

"And you're..." She asks, curious about what he was doing while he sets up the machines.

"Brightening. Enlarging." He explains.

"Hmm.  Did your mom say anything else?" She asks.

He grunts as he measures and exams the negative of the picture.

"Like, um, where it might have gone to, or..." She adds.

"No, just that it came out of the wall."  He says and places the picture into the liquid as he sets the timer.

He sighs softly as she leans on the table while they wait for the picture to show, "How long does this take?" She asks.

"Not long." He says as he uses the small tongs to make sure it was completely in.

"Have you been...doing this a while?"

"What?" He frowns in confusion.

"Photography?"

Jonathan shrugs, "Yeah. I guess I'd rather observe people than, you know...Talk to them. I know. It's weird." He scoffs at how stupid that must sound.

"No!"

"No, it is. It's just, sometimes...people don't really say what they're really thinking. But you capture the right moment...it says more." He stammers.

Nancy became curious about something, "What was I saying?"

"What?"

"When you took my picture." She blushes and gives him a small smile.

He sighs softly, kicking himself, "I shouldn't have taken that. I'm, uh...I'm sorry. It's just--"

Suddenly, Nancy averts her eyes as the picture begins to lighten up and show the figure so much more clearly.

"That's it. That's what I saw." She says.

Jonathan turns and looks at the picture with wide eyes.  In the picture, there stood a dark figure with no face.  Just like what his mom said.  What Nancy said.  He gasps softly.

"My mom...I thought she was crazy 'cause she said...that's not Will's body. That he's alive. And if he's alive--"

Then Barbara." Nancy gasps with hope in her eyes.

Soon, Jim managed to make towards the Morgue.  He was about to grab his hat, but that gave him an idea.  An excuse why he was there.  He tosses his hat into the backseat and gets out of his truck to head inside.

"Hey, Patty!" He greets the receptionist.

"Hey, uh, need something, Chief?" She frowns at him.

"Oh, you know, I forgot my hat." He says as he points at his head in embarrassment.

"Oh."

He laughs at how silly it was to forget his own hat, "I'll just be a minute." He says and walks towards the hallway.  He drops his smile as he walks towards the morgue, but sees one single trooper sitting at the door, guarding it.  Jim notices that he was reading a book, 'Cujo'.

"Hey, I love that book. It's a nasty mutt." He says.

The small trooper scrambles out of his chair and stands in front of Jim, blocking his way.

"Hey, you can't be back here."

"Yeah, I just got off the line with O'Bannon. He said that he needs to see you at the station. It's some emergency..." Jim explains.

The trooper cuts him off with a confused look, "What the hell are you talking about? I don't work with O'Bannon."

"Did I say O'Bannon? I meant..." Hopper smacks his lips, trying to come up with something but he was stumped.  "Okay."

He grunts as he punches the guard out with one swing.  He knew he didn't have much time.  He needed to hurry.  He rushes through the morgue for Will's body.  And when he found it...he couldn't think.  He pulled back the cover and sees the body of Will Byers.  It was him.  What was so special about his body?  He touches the boy's chest and gasps at how weird it felt.  He frowns in confusion.  He felt cold and stiffed.  But...it was hard to explain.  Maybe the answer was inside the body.  He scrambles around to find a scalpel.  He hovers the tip over the boy's body and stops.  He wasn't so sure if he could do this.  But he must.  He must know the secret.  He slowly cuts into the boy's stomach and reaches inside.  He grimaces and waits for the squishy feeling of the organs.  But...he felt something else.  When grip on to it, and pulls it out...it was cotton!  The body was a fake!  Joyce was right.  It wasn't Will.  Will was still alive.  But where was he?  The Lab? He needs to check out the lab.  Now!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jace gently places Five on the couch and makes sure she was comfortable.  Gloria wanted Jace to make a quick stop at her office for the EEG machine.  Five's waves were down to 98 Hz.  It took a lot out of her to search for Will.  Before Gloria left, she decided to leave the EEG machine in his care to keep watch of Five's levels.  He gave her all the batteries he had in his house.  It was enough to get her levels back to 150.  They learned 150 was her personal level. Jace strokes her hair gently and lets her rest.
"Jace.  Jace!  Answer me, over." Hopper's furious voice erupts over the radio.
Jace rushes towards his radio, "I'm here, Unc.  Over."
"I saw the body.  It wasn't Will.  The body was a fake.  Joyce was right.  Will is still alive." Jim states strongly.
Jace shudders softly, "I knew it!  I...those sons of a bitches!" He exclaims.  "If he's still alive, then where the hell is he?"
"It's all pointing back at the lab.  I think they kidnapped Will because he saw something he shouldn't have.  I'm going to get him out." Jim says.
"Wait, Unc.  If you get caught, you could end up like Benny." Jace says in fear.
"I have no choice, Jace.  If Will is in there, I need to bring him home.  I need to find out what is going on in there." Jim states.
"Give me a few minutes, I can be ready to help." Jace states.
"No! You stay where you are.  If anything happens, you do all you can to bring them down.  Ok?  You're my only source out here. You and me are the only ones who know.  Find out what they're doing if I fail.  And stop them." Jim says strongly and cuts the call.
Jace sighs and punches his desk, "Damn it." He rubs his aching head as he feels a headache forming.  He didn't know what to do anymore.  He was relieved that Will is alive, but where was he?  What was the lab hiding?  He looks over Five as she sleeps.  He couldn't risk her life and he couldn't let those bastards have her.  He needed to protect her.  Tomorrow morning...if Uncle Jim manages to survive.  He'll come clean and tell him about Fi.  He promises.
