The party all run away with Nancy, Johnathan, Mike, Lucas and Will escaping through a kitchen running through the back area while Y/N, El and Max did the same but escaping through The Gap service door into the hallway while both El and Max support Y/N as they limp away.

Max: Could this day not get any shittier?

El: We're still alive. After we beat the Mind Flayer, we find a way to fix Billy, then everyone can continue to live happy lives.

Y/N: I still have a few more months before I can be out in public.

El: I'm sure Hopper would talk his way into letting you go ahead and be free like the Snoball.

Max: First we gotta find the others and get out of here.

Outside, the others dash to Wheeler Wagon while Johnathan and Nancy fix the Ignition Cable with Mike, Lucas and Will hop in the back. On the other side of the parking lot Billy still sits in his car revving the engine. Once the cable is in Nancy pushes Johnathan to the driver side as she hold her Beretta.

Nancy: Get the car started.

Johnathan nods and rushes over to the driver side and tries to start the car but the engine sputters as Nancy walks over to the driver side not taking her eyes off Billy. Billy revs his engine one last time as he puts it into gear and tears off forward to the party. The boys panic and tell Johnathan to get the car started as Nancy fires two shots to warn him off but Billy continues. Nancy fires three more as more warning but Billy never stops. Nancy fires two more shot when the slide on the Beretta locks back, the gun is empty. Now is slight shock Nancy freezes as Billy continues to get closer. Until from the right, TODDFATHER crashes into him knocking him out while both Steve and Robin are stunned. Steve was ready to ask Robin if she's okay but a loud snarl gets their attention as for the first time they see the Mind Flayer.

Robin: Holy Shit what is that?

Steve: The Mind Flamer or whatever Dustin said, we gotta go.

The Wheeler Wagon starts as the party tell Steve and Robin to hurry so they can leave. Not wasting a second the two jump in the back of the car as Johnathan takes off from the mall with The Mind Flayer takes off after them.

Finally outside Y/N, El and Max leave the mall they were about to leave out a gate until Max and Billy lock eyes.

Max: Shit!

The trio turn to head back in the mall but with Billy in tow and Y/N still limping they all know the won't make it far. A few minutes of escaping the Mind Flayer and listen to Dustin and his now known girlfriend Suzie sing The Never Ending Story to get Planck's Constant the Min Flayer turns around.

Steve: It's turning around.

Nancy: What?

Steve: It's turning around!

Lucas: Maybe we wore it out.

Johnathan: I don't think so.

Mike: Billy must have told it to go back to the mall.

Johnathan: Shit! Hold on.

Johnathan breaks and u-turns and racesback to the mall. Back inside the mall the trio end up cornoring themselves. Max peaks and sees Billy making their way to them.

Max: Billy, you don't have to do this. Billy. Your name's Billy, Billy Hargrove. You live on 4819 Cherry Lane. Billy, please, I'm Max, I'm your...

Billy backhand Max as he moves over to El who rushes at him, he grabs her and throws her against a wall knocking her out as well. Billy makes hit way to Y/N who swings at him. Billy simply blocks it grabbing the boys wrist and twisting it and throwing Y/N against a wall knocking him out. Billy grabs Y/N and lifts him over his shoulder and walks away.

Y/N wakes up to Billy looking over him as he leans down to whisper to him.

Billy whispers: Don't be afraid. It'll be over soon. Just try and stay... very still.

Y/N looks over and sees the Mind Flayer staring him down. Y/N tries to crawl away as the Mind Flayer and Billy come face to face when suddenly an explosion of firework hit the Mind Flayer.

Lucas: Flay this, you ugly piece of shit!

Lucas yells as it's starts raining fireworks on the Mind Flayer. On one side Robin and Steve throw them, another side Nancy and Johnathan and finally Lucas, Mike and Will.

Steve: Hey, asshоlе! Over here!

The impact stun both Billy and Mind Flayer as it wails from the heat. Billy groans and rushes over to Y/N and Gras his legs dragging him back to the Mind Flayer. Billy holds the boy down as they both stuggle.

Billy and Y/N lock eyes as both remember the past Billy has had.

Y/N: Seven... feet.

Billy gasps as Y/N continues.

Y/N: You told her... the wave was seven feet. You ran to her, on the beach. There were seagulls. She wore a hat...with a blue ribbon. A long dress... with a blue and red flower. Yell... Yellow sandals, covered in sand. She was pretty. She was really pretty. And you... you were happy. There still time for you Billy.

As Y/N retells the story Billty sheds a single. Both notice as there is no more fireworks cause the Mind Flayer regains it strenght, Billy gets off of Y/N as Y/N continues to back away. A tentacle escapes the Mind Flayer mouth towards Y/N but Billy stops it.

Billy: No!

Billy yells and pushes it back using his strength to stop it. Y/N spots another tentacle ecaping its body, it shoots towards Billy to attack him from the left but Y/N stops it using all that he can to save him. Another few stray tentacle escape but Y/N as well stops those before they touch him. Suddenly the Mind Flayer squeals and thrashes around until it falls down signaling that the adults closed the gate. Billy falls down to his knees as Eleven and Max run over to them. Max has an uncertain look on her face as she stares at Billy.

Max: Billy?

Billy looks up to her and begins to crawl away in fear as he might hurt her or the other but he stops when the others come down.

Max: Billy, it's me Max... do you know where you live?

Billy nods his head as he sobs.

Billy: I live on 4819 Cherry Lane. You're Max, my sister.

And for the first time in their life they embrace. As Max cries and Billy continues to sob.

Billy: All those people....what did I do?

Max: That wasn't you Billy.

El: That was him.

All eyes lock onto the Mind Flayer, he reign finally over.

Mike: It's over but from what we thought Billy is still alive.

El: Who cares about that, right now we've won and we already know what happens next.

Almost as if on cue the party hear helicopters and lights peaking through the atrium. The party exit the mall where they see Dr. Owens. He gets the soldiers to escort them to the medical team while he asks what happened. After a brief rundown on the situation the clean up team does their job. From the entrance Murray, Joyce, Terry and Becky exit the mall. Will and El are the first to notice as they rush over to their families. Joyce hugs Will as she puts her gaze on Y/N who looks confused. Joyce let's go off Will and walks over to Y/N, the tears tell it all.

Joyce: I'm sorry.

Y/N can't even register what all that's happened in the last few hours. They won the fight but lost the battle. He lost his father.

Three months later

The day finally came. Moving day for the Byers family. Inside and outside were boxed packages. Inside the party help, most of them anyways.

Max and Lucas: ♪ Turn around ♪ ♪ Look at what you see ♪ ♪ In her face ♪ ♪ The mirror of your dreams ♪ ♪ Rhymes that keep their secrets ♪ ♪ Will unfold behind the clouds ♪

Max: Wait, did we get that verse right? It's "unfold behind the clouds"?

Dustin: Yeah, but you're butchering it, so could you please stop?

Lucas: So then join in, Dusty-bun. ( blows air kiss )

Max: Yeah, come on, Dusty-bun, why don't you join us?

Dustin: You guys are so funny, you should be on Carson.

Max: Can't we just hear your rendition? No. Please? Just one verse?

Dustin: No. No way. It's reserved for Suzie's ears and Suzie's ears alone.

Everyone is silent as both Max and Lucas start singing again.

Max and Lucas: Turn around ♪ ♪ Look at what you see ♪ ♪ In their face ♪

Dustin flips them off as they continue.

Dustin: Shut up, guys.

Max and Lucas: ♪ Rhymes that keep their secrets ♪

Dustin: Stop! You guys, please, shut up.

In his bedroom Y/N packs his stuff he looks at the hat Hopper had worn when he was the Chief.

Johnathan: You okay?

Y/N: Yeah.

Johnathan: He'd be proud of you, you know, you did save Billy.

Y/N: Yeah and now he's off to who knows where with Dr. Owens.

Johnathan: That smog didn't leave his body so they gotta try to at least get it out of him.

Y/N: I should have went with them. Maybe I could have used the last bit of my powers to save Hopper.

Johnathan: Y/N, he knew the risk, that's the thing about this, he risked his life to make sure you could continue to live yours.

Y/N stays silent.

Johnathan: Ever since you walked in on those guys we've all grown closer, as family and friends. No matter the pain we go through they're the ones who'll help you get back on your feet.

It's silent for a moment when the both of them hear a knock. They turn to find El standing in the doorway. Johnathan stares back at Y/N as he leaves the room.

El: They'll come back. I know they will.

El says as she attempts to reach for a box on the top shelf but with her height she can't reach it. Y/N walks over and grabs it.

El: Thanks. You packed your walkie, right?

Y/N: Yes.

El: Because you know that I'm gonna steal Cerebro from Dustin and call you so much, you're gonna have to turn it off, right?

The both of them chuckle.

Y/N: Did you talk to your mom? About Thanksgiving?

El: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got the okay. I'll be there. And then I was thinking maybe you could come up here for Christmas. And Will, too. You can come before or after Christmas, or whatever Mrs. Byers wants, but I was thinking Christmas Day could be super fun, because we'd all have cool new presents to play with and, uh... Sorry, that made me sound like a seven-year-old.

Y/N: I like presents, too.

El: Yeah, cool. Yeah. I like... I like presents, too. Cool.

The both of the hug as they realize this will be the last time they see each other for a while.

Joyce sighs as she looks at Hoppers uniform in front of her, she picks up the shirt when she feels something in the pocket. She reaches inside and finds the note he had wrote for Y/N before the Mind Flayer came back.

Y/N: Donation box?

Joyce turns as she sees Y/N holding a teddy bear in his hands.

Joyce: Uh, yeah, sure.

Y/N: What's that?

Joyce: Uh... It... It's the speech Hop wrote for you and El.

Y/N: Speech?

Joyce: Yeah. You know, the heart-to-heart. He never talked to you, did he?

Y/N shakes his head.

Y/N: Can I read?

Joyce nods and hands him the paper in exchange for the teddy bear as she leaves the room for him to read it.

Hopper: "There's something I've been wanting to talk to you both about. I know this is a difficult conversation, but I care about you both very much. And I know that you care about each other very much. And that's why it's important that we set these boundaries moving forward, so we can build an environment... where we all feel... comfortable... trusted... and open... to sharing our feelings." The truth is, for so long, I'd forgotten what those even were. I've been stuck in one place, in a cave, you might say. A deep, dark cave. And then, I left some Eggos out in the woods, and you came into my life and... for the first time in a long time, I started to feel things again. I started to feel happy. But, lately, I guess I've been feeling... distant from you. Like you're... you're pulling away from me or something. I miss playing board games every night, making triple-decker Eggo extravaganzas at sunrise, watching westerns together before we doze off. But I know you're getting older. Growing. Changing. And I guess... if I'm being really honest, that's what scares me. I don't want things to change. So, I think maybe that's why I came in here, to try to maybe... stop that change. To turn back the clock. To make things go back to how they were. But I know that's naive. It's just... not how life works. It's moving. Always moving, whether you like it or not. And, yeah, sometimes it's painful. Sometimes it's sad. And sometimes... it's surprising. Happy. So, you know what? Keep on growing up, kid. Don't let me stop you. Make mistakes, learn from 'em, and when life hurts you, because it will, remember the hurt. The hurt is good. It means you're out of that cave. But, please, if you don't mind, for the sake of your poor old dad, keep the door open three inches.

Y/N chuckles as he sheds a tear. Y/N wishes he could have heard it from Hopper but this is something to remember him by.

Joyce: Are you okay?

Y/N: Yeah. Time to go?

Joyce: Yeah.

Y/N: I'll be out in a minute.

Joyce: Okay.

Joyce leaves as Y/N tries to compose himself. But here he is ready to start a new life only far away from the rest of them. He folds the letter up and sticks it in his shirt pocket.

He exits the Byers residence with a box in hand as the others are saying their goodbye. Dustin is the first to notice as he walks over.

Dustin: I guess this is goodbye?

Y/N: For now.

Dustin: Take care man, just remember to stay on your channel. I don't want Suzie to end up hearing you and El.

Y/N gives a light chuckle as he puts the box down and gives Dustin a hug.

Y/N: As long as you make sure Steve doesn't lose any fights.

Dustin chuckles as well as Max and Lucas walk over.

Lucas: This is a day I didn't wanna see, the party splitting up.

Y/N: Not technically splitting are we?

Lucas: More or less, take care of Will.

Y/N: I kinda have to.

Lucas and Y/N hug as Max pulls out a note.

Max: I made a list of the places to visit while you're up in California. Just stay away from the people outside of gas stations.

Y/N: Will do.

Max and Y/N hug as well before Mike walks over. Max and Lucas leave the boys alone as it begins to feel awkward.

Y/N: Am I gonna have to say it first?

Mike: Sorry it's just I never thought You or Will would leave and with how things have been i...

Y/N: Mike, you guys were my first friends. Yeah it's been bumpy especially since the last few months but we're still friends all the way through.

Mike: I guess we are.

Mike turns back to the others.

Mike: I'm sorry about what I tried...

Y/N: I'm not the one you should be saying that to...just be careful for the next few weeks.

Mike: I'll keep that in mind.

Eleven walks over as Mike grabs the box Y/N set aside. The couple look at each other and hug again. He can hear her trying not to cry.

Y/N: Hey, just because I'm leaving, I'm not going no where.

El: I know I just don't wanna see you go, we had all these plans when you were finally able to go out.

Y/N: And we'll do that when I come back, it's only temporary right now.

El: Temporary or not when I see you again. I'll say it first.

Y/N: Well let me say it first this time.

El and Y/N brea the hug and stare at each other.

Y/N: I love you.

Eleven smiles and gives him a kiss. A car honk signals that the time is up for them to leave. The two pull away again as Y/N walks over to the U-Haul. He turns and gives the party one last look before they leave. He looks around at his surroundings one last time. He smiles as he gets in the van. He's free, no more monitoring from the agents, no more solitude from the public. He's finally able to be free in the world.

This one was a hassle to write just about 3k words in this one. It was painful to type but now the 'fun' part begins
