The air was crisp as the fall wind brushed my shoulders and through my short hair.
I shivered a bit holding my arms close to my body trying to keep my body heat.
I was outside looking for my younger brother who had wandered off with his band of friends and didn't come back in time for dinner.

This was of course Johnathan's fault for letting him go off with his friends alone in the first place and then running off with Nancy Wheeler. I cursed silently in my head to my brother.

I continued to walk down the roads calling out Will's name here and there.
I debated going home several times on my walk around the neighbourhoods but never did, I was too afraid of coming home and seeing my mom distressed about all three of us gone.
I kept trekking on and on.
It felt like I had been walking forever. Until I heard a familiar voice. The loud voice of the bubbly boy with a lisp that was often at my house. Dustin.

I quickly walked closer but quietly not wanting to be seen right away by anyone.

"Would you guys just calm down? We need to form a plan that won't get us all killed." A different voice spoke quickly in a panicked tone. I poked my head around the corner of the street to see none other than Steve Harrington, the one of biggest assholes in school. He was stressing over something but I don't think that having all three kids was a big help to his situation.
At this point I had noticed that Dustin, Max and Lucas were all with him.
I quickly walked towards the band of boys and Max who all had weird weapons with them.

"Sera?" Lucas jumped up from his spot on the ground.

"Have you guys seen Will?" I was sounding more and more frantic when I saw them with all their weapons and packs filled with whatever.

"Hopper and your mon have him, but we have bigger problems on our hands." Steve spoke from behind me.

I shook my head angrily at him. "What could be a bigger deal than my brother being taken?"

"I said he's with your mom and hopper, he's fine. What we're worrying about is the safety of everyone." Steve was stern. I didn't even know that he knew who I was until this moment.

"What- what could be a threat to everyone's safety?" I asked swallowing hard. My voice had become small.

"The demogorgan is back." Dustin spoke.

I flashed back to the memories of last year. The trauma that my mom went through, the falling into another parallel universe all to find my brother. I swallowed hard again before shutting my eyes tightly.
"Let me help you with the kids."

Steve's jaw dropped for a second before becoming slack. "Do you think I need help taking care of three kids?"

I crossed my arms over my chest. "Well Harrington you seemed pretty stressed with them a few minutes ago."

He didn't respond, he just grumbled under his breath.
I had to admit, Steve was an attractive boy in any state. He had a pretty face but a not so pretty attitude sometimes.
Before I knew it I was sitting in the front seat of Steve's car, the two boys and max in the back and the weapons and backpacks in the trunk. I honestly had no idea what the plan was or ultimately what I was doing.

"Anyone want a piece of gum?" I asked pulling out the pack of bubblegum from my pocket. I was trying to break up the awkward silence that had washed over us in the car.

"Oh I'll take one." Dustin grabbed a stick along with the two others who didn't say a word.
So much for trying to help the situation.

Steve pulled up in the junk yard at my dads place. The sky was getting dark and I was starting to get worried, I had no way to contact Johnathan to tell him that I was with Steve safe along with the other boys and max. All I could hope for was that he was safe and that the boys, max, Steve and I would all survive.
Steve explained his game plan to lure the "demodogs" so that Steve could trap them and get them with his bat.
The boys all nodded and I shivered in the cold air of the outdoors that was coming in through the windows of the bus that we were all no standing on.

Steve had placed out meat as a lure to get the demodogs to come closer but after a period of time waiting, nothing was happening.

"Why- why aren't they coming?" I whispered to Steve. Our arms touching causing some of Steve's body heat to warm up my arm.

"Maybe they're not interested in cow anymore." Steve looked over at me. His face was stone serious and I shook my head at him frantically. I knew what he was thinking and I couldn't let him get killed.

"Take care of them." Steve whispered to me while pulling off his blue bomber jacket and wrapping it around my shoulders.

He grabbed his bat with nails and began to walk towards the door of our secret hideaway from the demodogs.

"Steve? Steve? What are you doing? Steve?" Dustin was now panicking.

Steve's breathing was heavy, I knew he was just as scared as us but he didn't was to show the little guys that he was worried. "Just get ready."

He left me with the kids which stressed me out a bit knowing that he was going to be in danger.
"Y- you think he's g-going to be alright, right?" I stuttered out.

Dustin looked over at me with a worried face. "I don't know."

We watched as Steve swung his bat around anxiously waiting for something to happen. Max climbed down from the roof of the bus.
"What is he doing?"

I was too worried watching Steve to even think of an answer but Dustin was quick with one.

"Expanding the menu."

"He's insane!" Max exclaimed quietly.

Dustin smiled over at her."He's awesome."

I watched Steve intently as he stood in front of the bait, grinding his heal into the soft ground. I heard a bang from upstairs making me jump a little.

"Steve watch out!" Lucas yelled from the roof.

Steve had his back to us."I'm a little busy here!"

"Three o'clock! Three o'clock!"

The demodogs were now visible. Dustin jumped from his spot and swung the doors open. I jumped over to him grabbing his jacket in case he decried to jump out to help Steve.
"Steve! Abort! Abort!"

Steve looked back at us briefly before a demodog came lunging at him. He pushed himself back sliding against a car and that's when all hell broke loose.
Demodogs came lunging from all sides as he tried to run back to the bus. All the kids were now down in the bus standing in the seats behind me. I had pushed Dustin out of the way and back into a seat with Max. I maned the doors now watching Steve run to the bus and as soon as his second foot came inside I slammed them shut. He slid across the floor to the drivers seat where he managed to find a sheet of some scrap metal and pushed me out of the way before throwing it on the door and holding it with his feet as the freaky little monsters threw themselves at it. One broke through and began to quickly usher the kids to the back while they were all yelling and screaming.
The bus was shaking violently with the monsters throwing their bodies at the bus.
We all looked up when there was a pounding on the roof. And suddenly the face of a demodog popped up causing max to scream loudly.
I was too in shock to scream so I pushed all the kids behind me putting myself before the monster as Steve came running towards us with his bat, threatening the demodog who then proceeded to call off all the others. I was shaking but felt a hand grab mine. I looked down to see that Steve had grabbed my hand and interlaced our fingers. I gave it a tight squeeze of reassurance for him but also to comfort myself.

He lead me to the front before letting go of my hand and stepping out of the bus first, me second and then all the rest of the kids.

"Where did they all go?" Lucas stepped out.

Dustin was last out. "Steve scared them off."

"No." Steve turned to us. "They have somewhere to be."

We all piled back into Steve's car. Everything was silent. I felt a warm hand on my leg and I knew who it was. We dropped all the kids off at their houses telling them to be safe and that we'd see them again soon for the next game plan and soon it was only Steve and I in his car. I dreaded going home, I knew that I would be going home to a now empty house because everyone was gone.
I looked out the window to try to keep Steve from seeing my worry as we drove very slowly down the street to my house.

"Hey, are you okay?" His voice was soft and sweet.

"I'm just- I'm afraid." I whispered just loud enough to hear.

"From What I saw today you seem very brave."

I shook my head chuckling lightly. "I was beyond scared."

"What are you afraid of?"

"Going home to my empty house knowing that those- those things could be anywhere." I rested my hand on top of his that was still placed on my leg.

"You- I mean- if you wanted to you can come stay the night at my place." Steve swallowed.

"I- I'd like that."

He did a circle around the neighbourhood and went to his house. We walked up his driveway hand in hand and through his front door quietly in attempts to not wake up his parents. He brought me up to his room and handed me a t-shirt to wear to before leaving his room and then coming back when I was done.
I had told him to sleep in the bed with me because I didn't want him to sleep on the ground and I was also still quite scared of anything to come.

The lights were off and the room was dark. Steve's arms were wrapped around my body and our legs were tangled together.

"Sera." Steve whispered.

"Hm."

"After all this crazy madness is over, do you wanna go on a date with me?"

"Yeah, I'd like that."

The room was quiet for a moment.

"Sera?"

"Yes Steve."

"Thank you for taking care of the kids and coming along when you did cause without you I don't think I would've been able to take on anything that I did today."

I looked up at him and he was looking down at me, still playing with my fingers.
His head leaned in closer to mine and soon our foreheads were touching.
We could feel each others breath on our faces before his lips brushed mine.
My eyes fluttered shut before he closed the gap and pressed his soft lips to my own.

Steve Harrington was one interesting guy.
