Caleb knew that what he was about to do was probably not gonna end as well as it usually does in the movies and books.
He was about to do something that most people would call unacceptable or selfish or idiotic for that matter.
But he loved (Y/N).
He looked at himself in front of the mirror. He was in a finely pressed tuxedo and his hair was done nicely. His hands shook as he buttoned his cuff as looked at himself one last time before leaving his empty apartment. He took a taxi to the small church in the middle of town. It sat on a quiet hill. When the taxi stopped in front of the small chapel Caleb debated going home. He was nervous and his palms were starting to sweat.
Could he really do this?
He looked out at all the pastel decorations and the familiar faces of (Y/N)'S family. Caleb sucked in a sharp breath and left the taxi. He tried dodging (Y/N)'S family as best as he could. A few minutes later everyone was ushered inside. Caleb looked at all of the smiling faces, the pink decorations and the priest in the front of the chapel.
The clock hit twelve and the organ began to play.
Not a minute late, Caleb through to himself. He knew how much (Y/N) loved things to be on time.
The chapel doors opened up and soon the bridesmaids and groomsman were strutting down the aisle with big smiles plastered on their faces.
It really was like a scene from a movie.
Soon everyone stood up and in walked (Y/N) dressed in a beautiful white gown. She held pink roses, her favourite. And her long vail trained behind her.
Caleb watched as she smiled at the man standing next to the priest at the front.
Her soon to be husband.
Caleb watched the two as they looked at each other, smiling through the tears of joy. They exchanged their vows. Caleb started to shake.
The priest began to talk once again. "if anyone can show just cause why this couple cannot lawfully be joined together in matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace."
Caleb debated for a split second before standing up and shutting his eyes tightly only to hear gasps from around him. He opened his eyes one at a time on,y to see the horrified faces of both the families and all the friends.
"C- Caleb?" (Y/N) stuttered out.
"(Y/N) you can't marry him." Another gasp from the crowd.
"C- Can I have a minute?" (Y/N) asked putting the wedding on hold. The priest nodded. She looked over at Caleb and her confused face turned into an angry expression. She grabbed the bottom of her dress and walked quickly towards Caleb and pushed him outside and shut the door loudly behind them. "What the hell?"
"(Y/N), please."
"No Caleb. No what the hell do you think you're doing barging into my wedding like this?"
"You can't marry him."
"Why? Why can't I marry the man I love?"
"Because I know he isn't the right guy for you," Caleb felt stupid, his plan wasn't going right.
"How would you know?"
"I can see it in your guys' faces. He looks at you but at the way that the moon looks at the sun or that you're the only girl in the universe."
"How would you know what that looks like." The girl was furious. She felt like crying, of course this had happened in the movie but never had she ever had thought that it would ever happen at her wedding.
"Because I've looked at you that way and I still do." Caleb took the girl by surprise. "When we took a break we never really broke up. And suddenly four months later I get a wedding invitation."
"I've moved on Caleb."
"I don't believe you can moe on in six months." Caleb retorted. "Now I would do anything to make you happy and I know that this was a bit selfish for me to do but all I want to say is I love you and I was thinking of proposing to the girl of my dreams but if you walk back in there and get married to him then I'll try to be happy for you."
(Y/N) shook her head at Caleb. "I can't believe you did this. Don't come back in." She walked back inside the church and Caleb was left outside with his hands in his pockets. He pulled out a small red velvet box and opened it looking at the small diamond ring that he had gotten for her when he was planning on proposing to her before they took a break.
Tears ran down the boys face as he looked down at the ring and shut he box. He walked back inside the church and everyone looked at him with disgust.
"I'm leaving but I thought you might want to have this since it's your size and was custom for you." Caleb put the box on the ground and kicked it down the aisle. "It's just a little thing I got for you before we went on a break, I guess you could say that it's a wedding gift. I'll get going."
Caleb left the church with tear stained cheeks while (Y/N) walked over to the small red box and opened it. She looked at the beautiful ring.
She took the ring out of the box and realized that engraved on the inside of the ring said
'I love you like the moon love the sun.'
She shook her head and started to become flustered.
"I- I can't do this." She cried before apologizing to everyone and began to run down the aisle. She held the small red box in her hand, clutching it as if it were a life line. She ran down the sidewalk tripping on her dress every so often. Her heels clicked loudly on the cement and she was getting a lot of weird looks from people. She didn't care though, the only thing that would make her feel better was finding Caleb. She continued down the street and turn the corner that lead into a quaint neighbourhood and that's when she saw the boy in the nicely pressed suit with his head low and hands buried deep in his pockets.
"Caleb!" (Y/N) cried out making the boy turn around slowly. His eyes widened when he saw the girl with mascara running down her beautiful face, she was dressed in white looking beautiful as ever. As she got closer Caleb opened his arms and she ran straight into them. "I'm so sorry," she cried.
"No I'm sorry I shouldn't have crashed your wedding,"
"That was the best thing that could've happened so far," she cried. "I realized that you were right. I couldn't move on in six months. Who was I kidding? I was using him to try and alleviate the pain of us taking a break and you being away for a while. I- I'm sorry for being so mean to you back there, I just-" Caleb cut the girl off with a kiss that she melted into.
"I love you." Caleb smiled lightly as they pulled away.
"I think I love you too,"
Two years later:
Caleb Looked at himself in front of the mirror. He was in a finely pressed tuxedo and his hair was done nicely. His hands shook as he buttoned his cuff as looked at himself one last time before leaving the hotel room with his groomsmen, Gaten, Noah and Finn.
He smiled as he realized that what he was about to do was like a scene from a movie. A cliché movie that ended with the two leads getting married after two years of dating.
Yes, (Y/N) and Caleb were getting married.
Instead of having the wedding in a small stuffy chapel they decided to get married on the beach in Florida.
This time when the organ started playing at noon Caleb smiled. The groomsmen and bridesmaids made their way down the aisle and soon the love of Caleb's life was walking down the aisle dressed in a beautiful white gown and long vail. This time Caleb was the lucky man at the front waiting for his beautiful wife to be.
This time things would go right.
Caleb and (Y/N) joined hands as they both started to shed a few tears. They exchanged vows and the priest said the famous line that Caleb knew all to well.
"If anyone can show just cause why this couple cannot lawfully be joined together in matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace."
This time no one stood up. There were no horrified faces of the families and friends, only smiles were seen, even from (Y/N)'S family who later forgave Caleb.
After the I do's the priest smiled. "With the power invested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife, Caleb you may now kiss your bride."
Caleb leaned in and kissed his wife. People began to cheer and clap.
This really was like a cliché movie.
But they loved it and it couldn't have gotten any better.
