Part 9
Dawn's POV
Three days, we have been walking on eggshells for three days and there has been no sign of the agent lady. Yes, that was sort of good news but it also made us wonder where she had gone to. So Ozzie had seen how stressed out both Don and I were and we were able to lie and tell him that it was just wedding planning and all that. Instead of letting that go though, my friend invited us to a hike. Not thinking about the consequences, we both decided it would be a good idea to get some fresh air and away from the little town.
After about a half hour car ride Ozzie led us to some wilderness trails that he had found since he had taken trips to the trails to clear his own head. I was excited as we made our way into the first trail and just began to walk. It was a time just not worry about anything or anyone, weather that was crazy women agents of crazy aliens that still believe in arranged marriages. Taking a deep breath I began to walk a bit slower and let both Don and Ozzie past me but they were always within yelling range.
I began to admire the wilderness around me and somehow lost track of time. That's when my cell phone went off. Surprised to get signal I look down and see it's Ozzie calling me. Surprised I quickly answer the phone.
"Dawn! Thank god I finally got ahold of you! I can't find Don! I went back the same way we came and there isn't a sign of him!" Ozzie says panicked, my heart drops as I now go into panic mode.
Where the hell did that Alien go?!
Don's POV
Wilderness was not something I was use to on my home planet but it was quite refreshing from being stuck inside the coffee shop day after day. Following Ozzie, Dawns friend we left her just a ways behind us so she could admire the view and every now and then take pictures on her phone. Smiling as I walked by her it was something I couldn't help because just seeing her happy was what I wanted most for her.
I remember Ozzie going a bit further ahead of me when I heard a twig snap behind me. Not thinking mush about it due to the wildlife that was all around us I continued until I felt a rag come over my mouther and then everything around me went black.
When I regained my vision I looked around to see I was sitting in some sort of cave with my hands and feet tied not to mention the gag that was tied to prevent me from talking, at least for the moment. A few second later a woman walked in, the agent from the coffee shop. She had a wicked smile on her face and I knew that she was up to no good.
"Well, no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't find a file on you Don Philips, no place of birth, social security card nothing like that. Don't you think that is a bit odd?" the woman asked me although she clearly knows that I cannot answer her. "Don't worry alien, I have a lot of questions for you."
Taking a knife out of her pocket I gulp as she brings it to my mouth and cuts the gag from my mouth. Taking the gag and throwing it to the side the woman smiles at me as she takes my glasses off and then crushes them beneath her feet.
"Why are you here and how long have you been here?" the woman asks me but I keep silent. "No words to say huh? I could always have my men pick up that pretty little girlfriend of yours."
"Leave her out of this!" I yell at the woman as loud as I can as I struggle to get free.
"Does she know what you are though? That you aren't human?"
"I don't know what you are talking about! I am just a simple coffee house worker." I yell at her as I continue to struggle.
Before I have time to do anything I feel a sharp jab at my left side. Looking over I see her knife is stabbed inside of me. Looking down she rips my shirt apart and touches my blood and shows it to me. I did not bleed red like humans.
"White blood huh? I highly doubt you are anything like us and I will prove it to the whole world." She grins as she stands up and walks to the other side of the cave.
Dawn's POV
Searching this damn trail isn't doing any good! Panicking and now on the verge of crying I try to think of what to do when an idea comes to my mind. Don's cell phone, I should be able to track the GPS in it! Quickly taking out my phone I manage to get Don's cell phone location from the GPS and began to pray that Don was still with it.
Running as fast as I could even past Ozzie I followed the signal. The trail had ended sometime back now I just seemed to be near giant rocks and some creepy looking caves. Standing at the mouth of one of the caves I cringed as the signal told me to go inside of it. I hated spiders but at this time I was willing to risk seeing or even being bit by a spider if I got to Don and made sure he was alright.
Taking my phone I turn on the flashlight and begin to make my way into the tunnel. I didn't know how far I would be going in or what I would meet when I got inside. Sneaking around the corners I had finally come to the location where the GPS signal was. Turning off the flashlight I could see around the corner was Don and he was tied up. Who in the heck would tie him up?
"Time to wake up alien boy, the van should be here soon then off to testing with you." The agent grins as she goes to pick him up.
Just as she grabbed the collar of his shirt, well what was left of his shirt I took the backpack off my back and hit her across the back of the head as hard as I could. The woman went tumbling to the ground holding her head but knocked out cold, at least for the moment. Running to Don I could see something white coming from his side and I had no clue what it was. Taking crazy woman's knife that was on the ground beside Don I cut his ropes and he fell to the ground.
"Don! What happened! What did she do to you?!" I ask him scared to death as I pick his top half up holding him in my arms.
"She stabbed me...I am bleeding out as you call it." Don answers weakly.
"What oh come on don't you heal easy or something like that?" I ask as I rip off part of my shirt and hold it against his wound.
"No...I would need Jeff." Don says as he begins to shiver.
"JEFF!! PLEASE JEFF!" I yell at the top of my lungs as I look down at a very weak Don. "No, don't you can't just leave me here like this! Come on you can't just die!"
"I don't think I have a choice..." Don says as he reaches up and touches my face. "I really do love you Dawn, everything about you."
"Stop, don't say things like that. Jeff will be here and we will fix you all up." I tell him as I caress his face.
Don smiles but closes his eyes and slowly lowers his hand. Grabbing onto him I hold him close to me.
"Please don't leave me, I'm so sorry I love you too Don, more than I have ever loved anyone." I cry as tears roll down my face.
A strange white light appears out of the corner of my eye but I ignore it.
"What the heck happened? Oh no, we have to get him back to the ship...now Dawn!" Jeff says as he runs over to us, with one touch of Jeff's hand we disappear from the cave.
Back on the ship, Jeff managed to sew up Don's wound and replenish him with a spare supply of blood but he would need to rest for quite a while. I felt so guilty and I never wanted to leave his side and Jeff never made me. I sat there for countless hours and watched Don praying that he would wake up and make some weird and cheesy joke just to make me laugh.
"He just needs a few days, after that he will be back to annoy us all...I heard what you said though. Is it true?" Jeff asks as he draws my attention to him.
"You mean do I love him?" I question Jeff who nods in reply. "Yes, I love him with all of my earthling mortal heart...he's the only one."
