Part 8
Dawn's POV
The next day everything seemed to be going good and just in case I decided to work on my article at the coffee shop, not that I didn't trust what Don said but I still didn't see how it was so easy to erase Kelly's memories of them...wow that sounded weird. I was trying to compile all of my notes on the stories I had already heard and make sure I had a decent bio on the person who had the experience. Needless to say this wasn't as easy as I thought it would be when I got to this little town. Hearing the bell ring on the front door letting the patrons of the coffee shop know another customer had come inside something inside me told me to look over. Following said instinct I look over and see a woman in a suit, with dark brown hair tied in a ponytail walking up to the counter.
"Are you familiar with this woman?" the lady asked down as she held up a picture to him that I couldn't see who was in the photo but Don looked shocked as he looked over my way for a split second and then back to the mystery woman.
"I don't make a habit of giving away information on patrons especially to someone I don't know either." Don says as he stares the woman down.
"Kate Hathaway, FBI. We just need to interview this reporter about the story she is doing, not like she is in trouble or anything like that." She said with a smile.
Rolling my eyes, I stand from my seat and go to Don's side. The woman looks at my surprised looking down I can see the picture in her hand is in fact a picture of me. Taking the picture I laugh when I look at it, this was my employee photo the first year I started working at the paper.
"Usually you should try to have a more recent picture of the person you are looking for. Anyway, I'm her. I am Dawn Jones and what could I possibly help you with?" I question as I hand her the picture back.
"Yes, according to our sources you are doing an article on people who have had encounters with aliens. Do you really think that is the best way to make your reputation grow? After all these people are probably whack jobs just doing it for a little attention." The woman says with a shrug as she sits down at the bar.
Looking back up at the coffee house I can see all the other customers have cleared out, talk about a bad day for business. Turning my attention back to the woman it makes me wonder why for one the FBI would be involved in some crazy article I was writing not to mention if she was even really working for the FBI at all.
"I fail to see how this say anything to do with the FBI. Yes I am writing an article about their experiences and I'm sure those who do believe in aliens would get a good read out of it. Nothing more. The only reason I am doing this is as a favor to my friend Ozzie who has also written an article about them as well." I tell her as I lean against the edge of the counter.
"Let's just say he is another reason I am here. Especially if these so called encounters are real. It would quite amazing to find an alien and get all the information out of them that we could." The woman says as she stands. "I'll be in town for a while, keeping an eye on you and those group members. If I have any questions I'll be sure to come here."
Watching the woman carefully both Don and I saw her walk out of the coffee house and put her sunglasses back on, get into a no doubt government car and drive off. Well this wasn't good at all. Turning to Don I see he now has a look of panic on his face. Grabbing his head I hold him close to me and make eye contact.
"Now is not the time to freak out, we have to tell Jeff and he should be able to come up with a plan...right?" I say/ask at the same time.
Nodding Don takes my hand and before I have time to prepare myself we suddenly appear on the ship. I really wish I knew how he did that. Don wasn't in his work clothes, he was back to his white wardrobe and looking down I could see my clothes had changed this time as well. That was odd since that had never happened before. Don seemed to notice and had a questioning look. Making our way to where Jeff usually was we were both surprised to see three other aliens standing there and they all seemed to look like they were related to Don.
"Oh there you are, and you brought Dawn. Your brothers have come with a friend they wanted to introduce you to Don." Jeff said in an awkward tone as he looked between Don and his family.
"Brother, we have brought Kaille, she is someone father picked out for you to possibly spend more time with." One of the others spoke up and smiled pushing the beautiful woman forward.
Wow, there was no way that I looked as good as her. Seriously she looked like an angel, I mean she was practically perfect from head to toe! Instead of Don speaking though he took my hand in his and held it tight. It was like he was slowly building up the courage to talk to his brothers.
"No, it is a pleasure to meet you Kaille but I have already found someone I wish to be with." Don speaks up starting off softly but his tone slowly rises.
Jeff starts to back away but my free hand grabs his collar and holds him to stand right beside me. I would not be going through this alone, after all I didn't know if any of Don's species had special powers that could kill me with just one look and I wasn't willing to risk it.
"Brother, the woman next to you is an earthling, you would out live her by millennia." The other brother spoke up.
"I do not think this is any of your concerns brother, I have said my piece now please I have important new to inform my colleague with." Don says as he turns to talk to Jeff when the angel makes a move, one to slap Don right across the cheek, I without thinking stand in front of him and catch her hand.
"Move human." The angel speaks.
"Back off alien. If its one things humans are known for we are very territorial." I tell her and I stand my ground right before Don.
"This may not end well.." Jeff states.
"You have no right to him, I was hand chosen by his father to be by his side." She speaks as she tries to pull her hand away from me.
"Yeah, we quit that a long time ago, led to a lot of uncivilized wars. Your kind should take a hint, arranged marriages never work out." I tell her as I tighten my grip.
I didn't expect this lovely, hand picked alien chick to do anything uncivilized but I was ready for anything. Which was a good thing in this case since the two brother backed up. Apparently they knew something that I didn't.
"Dawn, it's probably best to let her go and allow them to leave." Jeff states as he does back up.
"Little girl, I am twice your age therefore I have twice your knowledge in anything." She says finally pulling her hand free.
"You should know, a true lady never reveals her age. Yet if your twice my age you should know not to argue with a younger generation of something or someone that is theirs." I say as I turn back to Don. "Tell Jeff what is going on with earth, I got princess here."
Don doesn't argue but turns right to Jeff and begins to tell him what happened at the coffee shop. The angel just stares me down, maybe deciding what to do with me but when she does go to make a move the older brother puts his hand on her shoulder causing her to stop and look back at him shocked and confused.
"It's too late, I can already sense it, if we were to separate my brother and the human he would wither and die. He has already connected with her in a way you could not." The brother speaks softly to her.
"I can break her hold, just give me some time with him." She begs the brother.
"Enough, I care not to hear of you daring to risk my brother's life. We shall inform father of your decision brother and will return when we can." The other brother says as he touches his weird necklace and the three of them disappear.
"FBI huh? Ever since that area 52 rumor they have always been on the hunt for us but now they are trying to watch the humans that we have already interacted with." Jeff says walking up to his computer.
Don runs back up to me and checks my face...for what I had no idea but the feeling of him checking on me somehow gave me a strange sense in my stomach. I didn't know why I felt that way but I wasn't pushing him away at all. Don then embraced me and held me as close to him as he could.
"Jeff dressed us like my kind as a warning that my brother's were here. I didn't know that they would come for such a reason but it seems that my father maybe very angry now...choosing a human as my bride..." Don starts as he looks down at me. "I will never allow anything bad to happen to you."
"I believe that and apparently I won't let angels slap you." I answer with a slight shrug.
"Angel?" Jeff questions as he doesn't look away from his computer.
"Yeah, I mean she looked perfect just like an angel. I have no idea why you chose me over her, especially looks wise." I tell Jeff and Don as I make my way to Jeff.
"You are twice her beauty, Dawn you have some of the most unique features I have ever seen on any species." Don begins to tell me but then Jeff stops him.
"Ok, time out lover alien, this girl is a real agent and you two have to be careful around her. Got it?" Jeff tells us with the most serious tone I have ever heard from him.
Nodding both Don and I agree to be as careful as we could. As if that would have helped us with what was about to happen...
