Part 5
Dawn's POV
Looking down at the now passed out alien before me it was hard to imagine how many alcoholic beverages had made him become all giggly and crazy. Closing my eyes I can't help but sigh. Don looked like an adult human but with his behavior like this it made me wonder how old he really was and if he had even reached maturity yet.
Walking to the window seat, which I was happily surprised that this little apartment had, I sat down and looked out to the quiet sleepy town as it slept without a care in the world. Me on the other hand, well something deep down inside told me that with Don I would have many sleepless nights. He was starting to grow on me though, just a little bit.
Gently closing my eyes just to allow them to rest for a moment I get a strange sensation and my body falls onto the seat.
Groaning I can feel I am laying down on something much more solid that the window seat. Opening my eyes I am in an all white room, this had to mean that Jeff had brought us on the ship or whatever it was they called it.
"He is dehydrated and he wont seem to wake up no matter how I stimulate him." I can hear Jeff say in a somewhat panicked tone.
Gently lifting myself up from the table I make my way over to where Jeff is and there on a table in front of him lays Don who looks to be still asleep. Jeff almost jumps ten feet in the air when he sees me which to me it's funny to have the roles reversed.
"Dawn! You scared me! Not as much as Don is doing though, he won't wake up and I can't hydrate him properly if he doesn't wake up." Jeff says as he hands me a glass of water.
Thinking back to the many tv shows I had seen and any other random thoughts that were going through my head I began to think back to a time when a woman gave water to a man through mouth to mouth...was I really willing to do that though? Looking to Don my head and heart both said yes at the same time. Taking the glass to my lips I take a little water into my mouth then lean over Don and kiss him, very slowly I could feel his lips open and I began to give him the water as slowly as I could since I didn't want him to drown. Don seemed to accept the water and after pulling away his eyes did finally open.
"Oh good, he's awake now I can kill him!" Jeff said about to grab Don but I stop him.
"No don't, please allow me to do that when the time comes." I tell Jeff as Don tries to relax a little.
"He risked everything just because blondie wanted to keep her memories and have a drink with him." Jeff said as he threw his hands up in the air.
"She won't anymore, I took care of her." I huff as I cross my arms.
Jeff looks back at me confused for a second but judging from my body language he doesn't press on the subject. Instead he walks out of the room with a string of insults directed at Don still making their way out of his mouth. Turning around to see Don I see him holding his head, looks like this was tha aliens first hangover.
"I hope you learned your lesson, whatever hangover you have I am sure you deserve." I tell him trying to keep my voice firm. "How many drinks did you have any way?"
Don holds up two fingers and a part of me wants to burst out laughs while the other is very surprised that the alien is such a lightweight. Putting my hand over my mouth to stifle what laugh I knew was going to try and escape Don looks up at me and he looks so helpless like a little lost puppy.
"I did delete some...not all." Don mumbles.
"What do you mean not all?" I question.
"Well, she really wanted to keep the memories of us in her room and-" Don starts but my hand covers his mouth forcing him to stop talking.
"Dear god please do not finish that statement and I am so telling on you!" I say as I make a run for the door thinking that in Don's condition he wouldn't chase after me.
Oh was I wrong. Don jumped up right off that table and made a dash right for me. Lucky for me though the door opened and I ran right to Jeff and hid from Don. Jeff looked completely shocked and confused as he looked between Don and I.
"Someone only did a little of their job." I start.
"Dawn, I tried but she really wanted to keep them and then she gave me those drinks and I didn't know what else to do." Don tries to explain as he chases me around the room.
"How old are you five? Be an adult and do the job that you need to do." I tell him as I stop and turn around making him stop and look right into my eyes. "How can you expect me to feel sorry for someone who couldn't even get one job done not only completely but correctly?"
"Don...you didn't finish deleting Kelly's memories? That would put a big threat upon the relationship that you and Dawn are supposed to have."
Don looked back to Jeff as though he were scared that he was going to get into a lot of trouble. Scoffing I back away from Don and sit down in a random chair that just happened to be close to me. Jeff tries his best to explain to Don why that would cause more harm than good and after at least a good two hours Don looks like deer caught in headlights when he realizes his error.
"I am very sorry Jeff, I did not think of it that way at all." Don apologizes to Jeff as I roll my eyes.
"Don, I know you mess up and things like that but I don't think I am the only one that needs an apology this time." Jeff tells Don as he looks in my direction.
"Dawn...I really am very sorry. I did not take our current situation into question and what possible outcomes allowing Kelly to remember our encounter would cause possible trouble." Don says as he walks up to me. "I will do all that I can to make it up to you."
Standing from the chair I don't say a word to Don, not because I didn't want to say anything to him but because I really didn't know what to say to him at that moment. Instead I walk to Jeff and tell him that I just want to go home and get what little sleep that I can. Jeff agree and sends up both back to the apartment. Without another word, I walk right up to the bed, lay down and fall asleep.
Don's POV
Error, that was the one word that became very repetitive in my mind. After Jeff had explained what might happen since I allowed Kelly to keep certain memories I then saw the error and trouble I might now have caused. Dawn didn't say a word to me, when we got back she went right to sleep. I could not blame her because I was very ashamed of myself as well.
Laying down on the bed beside her I could tell she was already asleep and I had began to like to watch her sleep since my body did not require as much rest as hers. She seemed to be sad tonight though, she held her pillow close to her as if she were using it as a shield.
"Forgive me Dawn, I will not allow anything to every hurt you or embarrass you." I tell her sleeping figure though I know perfectly well that she cannot hear me.
The next morning I was up very early and was already downstairs and opened the door just as Kelly walked in. This wasn't going to end well especially if Dawn came down and saw Kelly here this early. Standing at the count I watch as she makes her way up to me with a bright smile on her face.
"Is your girlfriend going to try and chase me off again?" Kelly asks as she laughs.
"She might, I wouldn't tempt her if I were you." I reply as I wait for her to tell me her order.
"I had fun with you the other night, whenever she is busy again we could hang out again?" Kelly questions as she leans against the counter.
Trying to keep calm in this awkward situation I stick my hands in my pockets there my left hand hits a box deep within my pocket. Grabbing it I remember what's inside. The diamond ring that the old man had told me to buy for Dawn. Maybe showing Dawn the ring would be enough to make Kelly leave me alone? Right after I think that I hear the doors open with the sound of the little sweet bell. There stands Dawn in a light pink summer dress with a jean jacket her hair let down to let the wind play with it at its will. Walking up our way Dawn takes one look at Kelly and I can tell something bad is about to happen and I had to act.
Dawn starts to take off her sunglasses when I jumped over the counter and land in a kneeling position right in front of Dawn and take out the box, opening it and showing her the ring inside.
"You are asking her to marry you?!" Kelly screams out in surprise.
