Part 14

Jeff's POV

It's been two months...two months in which Don has stayed as far away from humans as possible and that angel like creature from his home planet has not let that alien have ten minutes to himself and every time I turn around she is here with him. I thought she was annoying at first and now I am to the point where I am tempted to beam her off the ship and into a swamp. Johnathon on the other hand hasn't contacted me for about a month claiming her was still trying to persuade Dawn to be friends with him. She was smart though, I knew that she wouldn't want anything to do with him. From time to time I would check up on her. The human way though, just through a short phone call to make sure that she would still keep the secret she already knew too much about.

She always said she wouldn't tell anyone and even if she did, who in their right mind would believe anything that she had to say? No one would really believe anything about aliens being on earth and she didn't want to bring any attention to her. Not that I would blame her, plus that would make Johnathon have more interest in her too. She told me she avoided him at all costs. Smart, after all he was trying to get a hold of her whenever he could and would even come her complaining about how he was getting no where with her.

All the sudden a warning pops up on the screen. At the moment I am the only one of the ship so I am the only one to see the warning. Going to the computer and signing in I can see what the warning is about and when I see that it isn't one warning but two that brings shock and fear into me.

"This can't be possible...oh dear...I have to go and find her." I tell no one as I rush to change into my disguise on earth.

Not having time to call anyone I beam down to earth with a plan in mind, one I am hoping a certain human would agree with. There was no guarantee that they would but it was worth going to ask them for their help since even though they may not want to be involved that they were anyway.

Dawn's POV

Two months went by pretty fast, yet here I am sitting at a computer typing a story that two thirds of the time I am making up off the top of my head doing my best to avoid my boss. He gave me way too much attention whenever he was in the office and people were beginning to notice. That was the last thing I wanted to deal with, I just wanted my request for an 2nd story on the people of Beacon to be approved...needless to say that I have been waiting for almost two months for that. I didn't have much hope left that they would grant it, that meant I would have to text ozzie and tell him the bad news as well. As if that poor guy needed any more problems on his plate.

"Hey Dawn, you have a visitor downstairs, says his name is Jeff. Reception wants to know if it's ok to let him up here?" my co worker Michelle asks as she walks up to my desk.

The only Jeff I knew was an alien and he wouldn't come here unless it was something really important. So I just nod my head to pretend it is just a casual friend. Michelle doesn't say much else as she walks back to her desk and picks up her phone, giving permission to reception downstairs to let Jeff up to my floor. 2:00 on the dot again and I start to feel sick. I didn't know why since I didn't eat anything out of the ordinary but for some reason the past two weeks every day at 2:00 in the afternoon I would get a sudden wave of nausea that would last for about an hour but then would just disappear.

Closing my eyes I shook my head as I tried to clear my head and get back to editing my story. Unlike the others I worked with I preferred to write and edit my own stories because most people loved to take my perfectly fine story and turn it into some kind of gossip or sometimes even a horror story. I did use Johnathon this one time to allow me to edit my own work but that was it. I wasn't going to go near that guy willingly any time soon.

"Dawn." Jeff's voice startled me as I turned around to see a shorter man looking at me, now maybe I made a mistake and let some random stranger in off the street.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" I question as I whisper the question to him.

"This is my human disguise. I am just blending in, is there anyway you could leave early today? I really need your help with something and I don't think that here is the best place to tell you what that is." Jeff explains to me as he looks around the office.

Looking over to Johnathon's office I shudder at the thought of going in there and asking to leave early but Jeff wouldn't be here if he didn't really need me. Taking a deep breath I stand from my chair and walk into Johnathons office and see him talking on the phone but the minute he sees me he immediately takes the phone and hangs up on whoever he was talking to.

"Something I can help you with Miss Jones?" Johnathon asks me.

"Mr. Walsh-" I start but he rasies his hand and stops me.

"Miss Jones, please just call me Johnathon like I have asked you at least a million times now." He said with a bright smile looking me right in the eyes.

"Fine, Johnathon, an issue has come up and I have to leave work early today. I just wanted to let you know before I left." I tell him as I stare him down as well.

"Alright, well that could count against you unless you are willing to do something for me?" Johnathon questions me as I raise my eyebrow to him in response. "One date, and it won't count against you, just dinner I swear-" be beings to explain but I stop him now.

"Fine, one date but I have to go now." I tell him and then turn and leave his office, grab Jeff's hand and leave the office.

Making our way into the cab that I had just hailed I look to Jeff and cross my arms.

"Whatever this is it better be worth me going on a date with Johnathon Walsh, something I have been avoiding for two months!" I tell Jeff who just nods his head.

"Believe me, this is a matter that I don't think anyone but me and my accomplice knows." Jeff begins to tell me as I look at him confused. "The woman, the alien I mean, the one you said looked like an angel well it turns out she isn't all she says she is. Her kind is mortal enemies with Don's kind and it looks like her trial to be ruler for her people is to kill one of Don's kind...more than likely Don himself."

"Jeff, this sounds like something I would hear in a James Bond movie, I mean what proof do you have? How do I know this isn't set up by Don himself?" I ask with a sigh as I look out the window not sure if I should believe Jeff.

"Don hasn't been back to the ship in two weeks, Dawn he has never done that not to mention I can't even communicate with him now. I just have a really bad feeling and I know if anyone can get through to Don and stop crazy angel it's you." Jeff says as the cab goes through light after light about to leave the city.

"Didn't you just go check at his apartment? Maybe he is just sulking?"

"He has been avoiding humans, please Dawn just go with me on this?" Jeff says as he puts his hand on mine. "He may really need your help."

"Fine. I don't know what help I'll be but I'll go with you." I agree effortlessly.
