Part 11

Dawn's POV

Sitting in the coffee shop wasn't working for me anymore, I would be distracted with anyone that was around me and for the life of me I couldn't focus on my work. Now not only was I doing the article on the experiences from the group members but I was doing my own digging on a certain female agent who I wouldn't mind pushing off a cliff. Closing my eyes I shut my computer and let out a sigh. Packing my stuff up in my messenger bag I looked to the counter to see Don was busy helping customers so instead of saying anything to him I stood and made my way to the door. However it seemed someone else was in a rush to get in, as I went to grab the handle the door opened and hit me right in the middle of my head.

"Ow! Oh come on!" I yelp as my hand goes right to the spot where I was hit.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry, I really didn't see you there." A male voice says I look up and see a good looking business man looking right at me.

"Maybe you should get your eyes tested, if you can't see someone right in front of a door you need help." I say as I move around him and leave the coffee house and head to Ozzie's new office, there at least I could gather more information and possibly get a band aid.

Jeff's POV

Looking through all the data we had recently collected including the certain gene from Dawn that gave her hair that rare red color to it. This would be what I had to present to the reptilian who was due here any minute. Not understanding why I needed to show all the data to him I didn't want to hear anyone getting angry with me so I more or less agreed to let him look. This alien was also posing as a human on earth and apparently he blended in quite well, unlike Don. It was then I heard the air lock open and in walked inside the alien, still wearing his human disguise.

"Your late, and why do you look so chipper all the sudden?" I question as he walks up to me with a smile on his face.

Lifting his hand up to me I see he holds a lock of human hair in his hand. Red human hair. Confused as to why he would be showing me this I walk up to him and wait to hear an explanation.

"I want you to find out all you can about the human whose hair this is, I met her today and I think she would do well with a few other experiments we have done before. Could you imagine one of our kind with this hair color? " he told me excited.

"Johnathon, your kind doesn't have hair, only green scales the only kind we could possibly hope to recreate this color with would be the whites." I tell him honestly.

"That would be a waste, most of them are highly sensitive and nothing about the owner of that lock of hair said sensitive at all." Johnathon said as he took the lock of hair to the scanner and began to scan it.

Of course we only had one red haired human on file, Dawn. Walking up behind him I watched the main screen as the result pulled her up. Anything and everything we knew about Dawn was now on that screen. Well except for the fact that she was engaged to Don. I must have forgot to add that in. Johnathon stared at her picture and I didn't know why but it seemed he was getting all the information he could about her.

"She works at the company I own, yet I have never met her. That is very odd. How would I not have seen her at least once before?" Johnathon questioned as he wrote down what information he thought would be needed. "If I can get some time with her, maybe I can get her to listen to me and maybe if she listens well enough she may do more than work for me."

"What about the invasion sir? I don't think the leaders want us to leave any humans behind alive." I say trying to make a point.

"They have been talking about that invasion for years, I wouldn't worry about it right now." Johnathon said as he opened the other files about the other humans that we interacted with. "Well seems you two and keeping busy, keep up the good work because I would hate to report you for anything. Have fun Jeff, I'm going to go and pretend to be human to gain the trust of one."

Before I could say anything, else Johnathon was already gone. This was not a good thing, Dawn was already in love with Don or so she said. What would happen since now Johnathon would want her attention? Would Dawn just ignore him or would Don intervene? Either way I couldn't wait to see what would happen. For experimental reasons, of course.

Don's POV

Getting ready to close up the coffee shop I wondered where Dawn had gone. It didn't bother me when she left on her own usually but now that the agent was her it made me want to keep her as close to me as I could. Looking down at my phone I saw I did have a message from her and I quickly opened it.

'Went to Ozzie's new office to get more information on the agent. Be back when I can and don't wait up for me. Love Dawn.'

Smiling I replied to her message asking her to be safe and keep me updated on what she found. Putting the phone back into my pocket I look outside and there I see Johnathon, another alien who was posing as a human here on earth. He was looking down at a piece of paper then looked up as if he were trying to find someone. He began walking off again and for some reason I felt that I had to follow him. Leaving the coffee shop I followed Johnathon and we eventually ended up at Ozzie's new office, where Dawn was. Why would Johnathon want to come here?

Dawn and Ozzie were just leaving the office together when Johnathon ran up to Dawn. I couldn't hear all of what he was saying but it seemed Dawn was falling for whatever he said. Nodding her head Dawn parted with Ozzie and began to walk with Johnathon. I had a bad feeling in the bottom of my stomach but had no clue as to why. Turning back Dawn didn't really acknowledge Johnathon much as they began to head back to the coffee shop. I kept hidden but got close enough to hear them.

"So you work for my company but I have never met you, how did you manage that?" Johnathon questions her with a sly smile, he was trying to flirt with her!

"I usually just stick with Ozzie, he talks to the bosses not me so that probably explains why we never met." Dawn replies with a shrug not showing any interest in him.

"Well, we have met now. You and Ozzie both really need to be down here at the same time though? I mean I think one of you should be back in the city." Johnathon begins to explain to her probably making up more lies as he went along.

"Uh sir, Ozzie quit, he lives and works down here now. That's why I was sent down here to finish his article. I thought you knew." Dawn answered as they reached the coffee house.

Sneaking back inside I decided to come to the front door and make myself known not to mention introduce myself to Johnathon and let him know that Dawn was mine and there was no way he would ever take her from me. Slowly at first making my way to the front door I can see the both of them talking. Opening the door Dawn turns and looks at me with a smile on her face.

"Oh you working late?" Johnathon asked Dawn confused.

"No I live here, with him." Dawn said stepping up to stand beside me.

"I don't think we've met, I'm Don, Dawn's fiancée." I tell Johnathon as I offer my hand for him to shake.

"I'm Johnathon, your fiancée's boss. It's nice to meet you. You know I would love to hear about the town from a local do you mind sparing a few minutes?" Jonathon now asks me but I knew he didn't care about the town he wanted to talk to me because of Dawn.

"He really isn't-" Dawn starts but I stop her.

"Sure, it can't be long though, Dawn and I have a lot of wedding planning to do still." I reply as I look down at Dawn. "Why don't you go upstairs and I'll be there in a few minutes?"

Leaning in I kissed Dawn long and passionately. I knew this would make Johnathon ever more upset but she was mine and I had just got her to confess her love to me! There is no way I would lose her now! Pulling away Dawn nods then kisses my cheek then makes her way up the stairs to the apartment. Once the door shuts to our place I look right back to Johnathon.

"A human? Really? Didn't you learn how clingy they are from the first two your slept with?" Johnathon scoffs as he walks inside the coffee shop.

"Not all are like that. You don't need to worry about Dawn I have her well taken care of." I retort as he laughs and sits down in a chair.

"What can a white possibly offer her besides a shoulder to cry on? Your kind is way too sensitive to be attached to a human." He tells me as he sits up straight. "Does she know you aren't human? If not you better tell her and the minute she runs from you I will make sure she runs right into my arms."

"She knows and she doesn't care, she love me and I am warning you." I tell Johnathon as I grab by the collar of his shirt and lift him from the chair. "If you dare hurt her or anything that remotely upset her I will kill you no matter what trouble it may cause for me."

"You idiot, you really did fall for her. Don the white fell for a human, I am sure your father will love to hear that. Just wait, your family wont accept her and she will come running to me even if you don't want her to." Johnathon tells me with a wicked grin.

Taking right arm I punch him and release his collar making him fall to the ground.

"Get out before I do something both of us regret."

"Don, I never knew you had it in you. To hit someone, she definitely got under your skin and when I take her from you, oh you will miss the girl." Johnathon says as he stands and makes his way out of the coffee shop.

Running up the stairs to the apartment I run inside as see Dawn doing dishes at the sink. Coming up behind her I wrap my arms around her waist and hold her close to me. Inhaling her scent and everything I could she looked up at me confused.

"You ok Don?" Dawn asks me.

"Don't leave me Dawn, even if other reject you I swear I never will." I tell her as she turns around to face me.

"Ok, I won't I promise." Dawn nods as he looks at me.

Grabbing her head and leaning in I kiss her and hold her close. Hoping that I would be able to make sure that she would never end up in Johnathon's arms.
