Chapter Three

Chapter Three

I sat on the couch next to El the next morning. The boys were down here as well. "We just tell our parents we have AV Club after school," Mike tells the boys. "That'll give us at least a few hours for Operation Mirkwood."

"You seriously think that the weirdo knows where Will is?" Lucas asked, looking over at us and I rolled my eyes.

"Just trust me on this, okay?" Mike tells him. "Okay." Mike looked at Lucas. "Do you have the supplies?"

"Yeah." Lucas pulled out the "supplies" from his bag. "Binoculars... from 'Nam. Army knife... also from 'Nam. Hammer, camouflage bandana..." He pulls all the stuff from his bag and placed it on the table. "And wrist rocket."

I sighed mentally, Stiles would call this useless. Which, it is, pretty much considering what we've got at home, but I have to remember this is 1983 we're talking about.

"You're gonna take out the Demogorgon with a slingshot?" I asked the boys snap their head over to me.

Lucas gave me an annoyed look. "First of all, it's a wrist rocket. And second of all, the Demogorgon's not real."

I personally believe it's real, considering the fact that all the other Supernatural creature things at home are real. "I wouldn't say that if I were you."

"It's made up." He continued. "But if there is something out there, I'm gonna shoot it in the eye..." He slings the shot at Dustin, the boys gasp. "And blind it."

"Dustin, what did you get?" Mike sighed.

Dustin puts all the food on the table, making me grin. "That's my boy."

God, I'm starting to sound like Coach. I shudder mentally.

"Well, alrighty," Dustin started. "So, we've got... Nutty Bars, Bazooka, Pez, Smarties, Pringles, Nilla Wafers, apple, banana, and trail mix."

"Seriously?" Lucas asked him, rolling his eyes.

"We need energy for our travels." I point out and Dustin nods his head in agreement.

"For stamina," Dustin adds.

"Hold on, you're not coming." Lucas pointed to me.

I was slightly offended. "Excuse me? I'm not letting four young teenage kids wander off into that world without someone experienced."

"So what, you've got experience with this kind of stuff?" Lucas raised an eyebrow.

"Something like that, yes," I mutter in reply. "Moral of the story, I'm coming with you. I'll protect you guys."

"With what? I'm using the wrist rocket." Lucas argued.

"I'm not touching your... wrist rocket." I spat. "I've got other rescores."

"And besides, why need weapons anyway? We have her." Dustin pointed out.

"She shut one door!"

"With her mind!" Dustin argued back. "Are you kidding me? That's insane! Imagine all the other cool stuff she could do." He walked over to a spaceship. "I bet... that she could make this fly!" Dustin takes ahold of it and stand in front of El who plays with the supercomm. "Hey, hey." El looked over at him. "Okay, concentrate. Okay?"

He drops it on the floor. It doesn't move. I rolled my eyes. "Good one." I muttered.

"Okay, one more time." Dustin tried again, picking up the spaceship. "Okay. Use your powers, okay?" The spaceship drops, El doesn't do anything.

"Idiot," Lucas muttered and that's something I can agree on.

"She's not a dog!" Mike snatches the spaceship away from him.

"Boys! Time for school!" Karen, Mike's mother calls from upstairs. The boys quickly got their stuff together. Mike kneeled on the floor as the boys ran upstairs, Mike talked to us.

"Stay down here. Stacey, make sure she doesn't get into any trouble, okay?" Mike pleads.

"Sure." I nod.

"Don't make any noise, and don't leave." Miek instructed. "If you get hungry, eat Dustin's snacks, okay?" Oh, I will.

"Michael!" Karen yells.

"Coming!" Mike called back. "You know those power lines?"

"Power lines?" El asked, frowning. I know what they are.

"Yeah." Mike nods and looks at me. "You know, right?" I nod. "The ones behind my house."

"Yes." El and I both answered.

"Meet us there, after school." Mike informed us.

"After school?" El asked, cocking her head.

"Yeah, 3.15." Mike nodded. "Ah." He takes off his watch and hands it to her, putting it on her wrist. "When the numbers read three-one-five, meet us there."

"Three-one-five," El repeats.

"Three-one-five." Mike nods. With that, he darted off upstairs, grabbing his stuff on the way out.

"Do you see them?"

"Everyone is forgetting everyone."

"See what?"

"The guy on the horse."

"Stiles, if you can see them they're gonna..."

"You have to get away from me right now, okay?"

"I'm not leaving you!"

"Stacey, no!"

"Stiles!"

I wake up with a gasp, panting a little as the scream fades from my head. El snaps her head over to me with a frown.

"I'm okay," I breathe and leant back on the couch. "Just a bad memory,"

"What... what about?" El asked gently. She stopped fiddling with the supercomm.

"It'll sound crazy," I tell her.

El gave me half a smile. "You're... talking to a... girl who has... superpowers." I gave her a chuckle. That's probably the longest sentence she's ever said.

"You're right." I said easily. "I come from a small town, like this. In my town, it's not normal. Kind of like this... it's uh, we have more than just girls who can slam doors shut." El gave me a look. "I know, it's crazy... We have Alphas, werewolves, were-coyotes, hunters, banshees, heck, even kitsunes."

"What are you?" El asked softly.

"I'm a Banshee," I answer. "Don't tell the boys that though, I don't want them to think of me as a freak."

El gave me a half-smile. "What's a... banshee?" She murmured.

"Someone who can tell when you're gonna die and scream really loudly, like sonic loudly." I explained and she nodded.

"That's... cool." she stutters.

"Not really." I laugh. "Opposite actually. There was some stuff happening back home and that's why I believe I'm here. They caused this, so hopefully I can return home."

El smiled and nodded. She looked at the time. 3.10. "Time?" El whispered.

"Yeah, we should go and meet them now." I tell her and we jumped up, El taking the supercomm with her.

It was exactly 3.15 when we approached the power lines. El lets out an anxious whimper. "Three-one-five."

"They'll be here, El." I tell her and she nods. There was then a cat that meows at us and we looked down, a ginger cat looking at us on the ground on the other side of the fence.

The car growled and El seemed to just stare with this scared look on her face, I frowned. "El!" Mike called and we looked over, the boys pushing their bikes up the hill. "You okay?" El nodded. He pats his seat for her. "Hop on. We only need a few hours, Stacey you're with Lucas."

Lucas looked annoyed that he was paired up with me but I rolled my eyes and walked towards him as he turned his bike around. I hop on the back and El does the same on Mike's and they begin to ride.

Oh, where is the Jeep when we need one?

After a while we were walking up a hilly road, Dustin, Lucas, and I in the back, El and Mike a few feet ahead.

"Why do they hurt you?" El asked from behind me. El pointed to the injury on Mike's chin.

"What?" He asks, taken aback. "Oh, that. Uh... I just fell at recess."

"Mike..." El whispered softly.

"Yeah?"

"Friends tell the truth." El tells him.

Mike sighed. "I was tripped by this mouth breather, Troy, okay?" I rolled my eyes. I've always hated the name Troy.

"Mouth breather?" El asks. What kind of slang language is that?

"Yeah, you know... someone a dumb person." Mike explained. I smirked, I'm going to have to use that if I get home. "A knucklehead."

Mouth breather.

"Knucklehead?" El questioned. I saw Lucas roll his eyes.

"I don't know why I just didn't tell you. Everyone at school knows." Mike rambled. "I just didn't want you to think I was such a wastoid, you know?"

Wastoid? What?

"Mike..."

"Yeah?"

"I understand." El tells him, making me smile softly.

"Oh," Mike muttered. "Okay, cool."

"Cool." El replied. It went silent after that.

It's been hours and it had grown dark, my feet had grown tired and I was hungry. We had arrived at a house.

"Here." El states.

"Yeah, that's where Will lives." Mike explained. Oh, Will lives here.

"Hiding." She whispers.

"No, no, this is where he lives." Mike continued to explain. "He's missing from here. Understand?"

Dustin and Lucas drop their bikes. "What are we doing here?" Lucas demands.

"She said he's hiding here." Mike recalls.

"Um... no!" Lucas exclaimed.

"I swear, if we walked all the way out here for nothing-"

"That's exactly what we did!" Lucas cuts Dustin off. "I told you she didn't know what the hell she was talking about!"

Mike turned to El. "Why did you bring us here?"

"I..."

"Mike, don't waste your time with her." Lucas shoots daggers at me. "With either of them."

"What do you want to do then?" Mike exclaimed at him.

"Call the cops, like we should have done yesterday," Lucas tells him.

"We are not calling the cops!" Mike protested.

"Hey, guys?" Dustin cuts in, but not being heard. I looked over to where he was looking, while the other two argued. There two cop cars and an ambulance driving past.

"Guys!" I yelled at them, they both turned to look.

"Will..." Mike whispered. We all jumped on the bikes, I'm on the back of Lucas, El on the back of Mike and we ride off, following them as fast we could.

We'd approached the scene, we were at a lake and we hide behind the ambulance to see the scene of the crime.

I watched as they pulled a body out of the water, making my heart skin. Will. My heart ached for the three boys, they had lost their friend, and I know exactly what that feels like. All though I had never even met or seen Will, I have a strong feeling just by the looks on their faces that its him.

They put the body onto the stretcher, pulling him in. "It's not Will." Mike shakes his head. "It can't be." They pulled the stretcher out of the water and carried him to the ambulance.

"It's Will." Lucas softly said. "It's really Will."

We all backed away from the ambulance. "Mike..." El whimpered from beside him, but Mike pushed her away, angry.

"Mike"? "Mike"? What?" Mike yells at her. "You're supposed to help us find him alive. You said he was alive! Why did you lie to us?" El had this panic expression on her face, she looked at me before looking back at Mike. "What's wrong with you? What is wrong with you?"

"Mike..." El whimpered softly, looking like she was going to cry.

"Mike." I warned but he shoved me off too.

"What?" Mike growled before running off to his bike.

"Mike, come on. Don't do this, man." Lucas had tears in his eyes, I chewed my bottom lip watching Mike pick up his bike. "Mike..."

"Mike, where are you going?" Dustin asked. "Mike!" Mike had left with his bike and El had ran off.

"El!" I cried out despartley, I have a strong feeling neither of us were welcomed into Mike's home anymore.

I have a strong sense of loneliness overwash me, now I was alone and homeless. I turn to the two who I have left.

Dustin looked at me tearfully. "You can stay with me if you'd like. I have a spare room." I gave him a small smile.

I let out a sad cry. "I'm sorry for your guys' lose. I know what it feels like to lose a friend. "

The boys just gave me a smile. "I'm going home." Lucas whispered before picking up his bike.

"Come on, I'll lie to my Mum and say you're a friend who needs to place to stay," Dustin offered. I gave him a tight smile as a tear slipped.

"God, I didn't even know him and I'm crying." I sniffled, wiping my eyes. "I guess it's just bringing back memories."

"What happened to your friend?" Dustin asked softly as he grabbed his bike.

I gulped. "She got shot by an arrow."

Dustin gave me a sad smile. "I'm sorry." We ride to Dustin's home that night. 20 minutes later we get there and approached his house. He opened the door and we entered, his mother cleaning up in the kitchen.

"Oh, Dusty-bun, there you are." His mother grin and her eyes fall on me. "Who's this lovely lady?"

"Mum, this is a friend of mine, she's staying in Hawkins for a bit and she needs a place to stay..." Dustin explained and his mother nodded. "Her original place to stay had other plans."

"It's okay if-"

"That's perfectly okay, honey, what did you say her name was, Dusty-bun?" His mother asked, giving us a smile.

"Her name's Stacey." Dustin explained.

"I'm Claudia." Claudia tells me. "How long will you be staying, dear?"

I shrugged. "I'm sorry, I can't tell you when... I don't know."

"The fine." Claudia assured me. "Are you enrolled to the Hawkins High School?"

"No, I'm kind of... on a break." I half-explained to her, how do I explain to her that I showed up here in the middle of nowhere and is stuck until my friends try to bring me back?

She nodded. "I'd like to have the company, Stacey."

I smiled. "Thank you so much, Claudia."

"I'm going to make your bed right now, Dusty-bun, show her around." Claudia walked off upstairs, leaving me and Dustin in the kitchen.

I couldn't help but smirk at the nickname. Dustin rolled his eyes. "Don't you start."

"I didn't say anything."

He points at my face. "Yeah, but your face did." It went silent after that and my smirk faded, the memories of earlier events flash through my mind.

"I hope El's okay." I murmur.

"I think she can handle herself," Dustin tells me. "She has superpowers after all."

I chuckled. "True. You have school tomorrow, right?"

He groaned. "Unfortunately."
