Chapter Ten | season two
Chapter Ten | season two
It's almost been a year since anything really happened. School's starting up again for the boys and I'm still here. I've been waiting to go, but nothing. There hasn't been a single moment where I haven't missed everyone at home.
But, these guys are really starting to treat me like family.
Claudia has let me stay which I'm super thankful for, she tells me its okay and it gives her more company. She likes company.
I watched Dustin practically destroy the house, throwing stuff everywhere exclaiming the words- "Son of a bitch! Son of a bitch!"
Dustin runs into the lounge where Claudia and I are, watching TV.
"Another stupid penny!" Dustin groaned. He threw the penny across the room.
"Dusty, watch it! You almost hit Mews." Claudia scowled at his son.
"Can I please check under your guy's cushions?" Dustin pleaded.
"Dusty," Claudia frowned.
"Mum, please?" Dustin whined. "Stacey? It's an emergency!" I sighed and jumped up, Dustin quickly looked through but nothing. He groaned and puts the cushion back down and I flopped down onto it.
Claudia moans and Dustin groaned back as she gets off, Dustin checked her. "Who's your buddy? Who's your buddy?" Claudia tells Mews.
Dustin smiled as he looked at the coins he found. "Love you, Mum." He paused. "Stacey, you want to come with me?"
"Where are you going?" I asked, cocking my head.
"The Arcade." The boy grinned.
"No, thanks." I shake my head and leant back, he ran off again. I looked over at Claudia. "Do you want hot chocolate?"
Claudia smiled at me. "That would be lovely, Stace."
-
It was the next night, I was at home just chilling on Halloween night when the doorbell rings. I sighed and got up, ready to hand out candy.
Claudia usually does this every Halloween, but I offered to do it and she went to bed early. Dustin went out with the boys trick or treating.
I opened the door and there stood Jonathan, smiling. "Aren't you little old to go trick or treating?" I asked him teasingly.
He scoffed. "You and I are going to a party."
He hands an invite to me. I frowned. "A Halloween party?"
"Yeah, one of the girls from my school is throwing one." He explained. "Nancy got them for us."
"Of course," I mutter. "Listen, thanks for the offer but I'd rather watch movies and get fat on this candy, okay?"
He rolled his eyes. "Stacey McCall, you are coming with me. Whether you like it or not."
I sighed. "But the kids." I held out the bowl of candy.
"The kids have plenty of houses to go to." Jonathan reminded me.
I sighed and walked further inside before putting the bowl of candy on the table next to me. I grabbed the spare house keys and got my combat boots that I got for Christmas from Claudia.
"Lets go." I slipped my shoes on, locked the house and Jonathan smiled at me as we walked to his car.
We hop into his car. "Thanks, Stacey, I appreciate it."
"Thanks for forcing me to go." I smiled sarcastically at him and he rolled his eyes.
"Sometimes, I really hate you and your sarcasm," Jonathan grumbled as he pulled out of my driveway, avoiding kids.
I beamed at him. "It's one of my many charms."
"I don't see how your boyfriend puts up with you." Jonathan continued.
"Well, truth be told he's the most sarcastic person I've ever met," I tell him and he looked at me in disbelief.
"Here I thought you were." He muttered.
"He taught me the ways." I flicked my hair over my shoulder.
"You must miss him, huh?" Jonathan asked, his eyes flicking to me for a moment.
I nod my head. "Like crazy."
-
Jonathan and I pulled upside this chick called Tina's house. Everyone was dressed up in costumes but Jonathan and I.
Oh well.
The music was playing ridiculously loud, there were drunks everywhere.
"Nice costume." A total emo girl asked us as she looked at us.
"Huh?" Jonathan mumbled.
"Nice costume." The girl repeats.
"Oh, uh, yeah. I'm going as a guy who hates parties." Jonathan explained.
"And I'm going as a girl who's been dragged to a party." I added, Jonathan rolled his eyes
The girl chuckled. "I'm Samantha."
"Uh, Jonathan." Jonathan nodded. They shake hands.
"Stacey," I introduced myself. I looked around at the party, and I spotted Steve and Nancy dancing. I rolled my eyes. Steve's wearing sunglasses. "I'm going to go."
I pat Jonathan's shoulder before leaving to go to the drinks section. "No, no, no." Steve and Nancy had come by, Nancy looked like she had a bit too much.
"Get off," Nancy whined to Steve.
"No, you've had enough, okay?" Steve tells her.
"Screw you!" Nancy spat before going back to her drinks.
"Nance, I'm serious." Steve pleaded. His eyes land on me. "Help me out here." His eyes went over to his girlfriend. "Hey, hey, hey. Stop. I'm serious."
"Nancy, maybe you should chill out with the drinks, okay?" I tell her calmly and she shoots a glare at me.
"Put it down." Steve had tried to get the red plastic cup from her, but she kept protesting.
"No!" She protests.
"Nance, put it down." Steve pleaded.
"Steve! Stop." Nancy whined. She then gasped when the drink spills all over her white dress. It was also a red drink. The crowd exclaims at the scene. Everyone had stopped dancing to look at the situation. "What the hell?"
"Nance..." Nancy had walked away, Steve followed her. I went to pick up a drink for myself, but I put it back down.
I didn't want to end up like her.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing here alone?" A voice breaks my thoughts and I looked over, a man with long curly hair and basically showing his abs walked over, with a smirk on his face.
I shrugged. "Who are you?"
"The name's Billy," Billy slurs, smiling. "You're so pretty, wanna hook up?"
I shake my head. "I don't think so. Besides, I have a boyfriend."
"I don't see him." Billy grinned widely. He leant closer to me and he smelt like straight-up beer.
"That's because he's not here right now." I watched as Steve left the room without Nancy. I frowned. Something bad must've happened in the bathroom.
"Do I get your name?" Billy cocked his head.
"Hm, no." I shake my head. I moved out of the way, before walking over to Jonathan. "I'm going to go."
"Do you want me to-"
"No." I tell him. "I think you should check up on Nancy though." I walked past him without another word and exit the building. I looked to my left and noticed Steve just leaning against his car, with his head in his hands. I walked over to him. "Hi Steve."
He looked at me and frowned. "How'd you know about this party?"
I shrugged. "Jonathan. Wanna talk about what happened with you and Nancy?"
"Okay," he mumbled and got inside his car, I walked around carefully and entered the passenger seat.
"What happened?" I asked softly, noticing how upset Steve was.
"She feels guilty for killing Barbara when technically she didn't... she started yelling bullshit in the bathroom." Steve sighed. "Then practically said that she thinks our love for each other is bullshit."
I winced. "Ouch, I'm sorry."
"I don't know what to do." Steve muttered. "I love her, but I'm not sure if she loves me."
"From what I've experienced, you just need to give the other partner some space and time to explain. Plus, she was drunk, sometimes you don't mean what you say when you're drunk."
He looked over at me. "Usually when you're drunk, the truth comes out."
