Chapter Seventeen
"Demo..."
"Gorgons."
"From D&D?"
I nodded my head. "Yes. Did you understand any of this?"
"Yes, I did," Stiles tells me. "But I'm still confused."
I looked at him. "You've fought Alphas, you've fought The Dread Doctors, you've fought Unis, you've fought the Wild Hunt and you're having a hard time understanding this?"
"Give me a break." Stiles groaned and puts his hands in his head. "You've been missing for two years, okay? And... and suddenly, I see this white light in your bedroom."
"What were you doing in my bedroom?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
He gave me a look. "Shut up. I was depressed. I reached for the light, then suddenly I'm in those tunnels and I see you."
"Hm." Was all I said. "And now you're in 1984 with me. I think we are sent here for a reason, Stiles. Until this is all over, we might be able to go home."
"What?" Stiles stuttered. "Are you serious? But, Eleven closed the gate, so we should be going on home any-"
"That's what I thought last year when we rescued Will." I cut him off and looked at him. We sat on my bed in the Henderson's house, Claudia had agreed that Stiles could stay if he wanted. I shake my head. "Not even close. We would've been gone by now. Plus, you were sent here for a reason. Not to just go through tunnels with me, okay?"
He sighed. "Make sense. God, Scott's was going crazy to find you. He cancelled his plans for college, you know."
I widen my eyes. "He did?"
He nods his head. "Yup."
I sighed and leant against him. "When will this be over?"

A month later, it was the kids Winter Ball. I was helping out at the drinks and Stiles was helping out with the photography, I made him because Jonathan was originally suppose to help out but then he got sick.
I smirked as I watched him take photos of the 8th grader. A kid approached me. "What's in this?" I pour him a cup of juice.
"Pure fuel," I answer with a smirk. I handed it to him and he walked off, sighing. I waited around, but the juice wasn't popular tonight.
I noticed the slow dance coming on. I was all dressed up because it was a formal, plus, I'd always wanted to go to a 1980's formal. They had good old classic music playing.
I watched as Max and Lucas danced. Will danced with some other girl, who I didn't know. I looked at Dustin, who was sitting on the benches, looking rather handsome and... alone.
I walked over to him, leaving my station. Poor Dustin, he was trying not to cry as he had got rejected by all the girls he asked.
"Hey." I greet him.
He looked up at me and wiped his tears. "Hey."
I held out my hand. "Wanna dance?"
Dustin stares at me. "What?"
"Come on. Let's go." I take his hand and dragged him to the dance floor. He looked confused and happy at the same time, making me smile. "Here." I put his hands on my waist and I put my hands on his shoulder. "Closer," I tell him, noticing the distance. "A little closer."
I pulled us in close and smile when I noticed that everyone that he asked was staring at us in shock. "Now feel the music." I continued as I swayed. "The rhythm. Start to move to it. Yeah. There."
He chuckled. "It's a bit weird dancing with your cousin, isn't it?"
I leant in close to his ear. "They don't need to know that, right?"
He giggled. "Yeah."
"You know, out of all my little dorky twelve-year-old friends, you're my favourite." I beamed at him. "You've always been my favourite, from the very first time I met you."
"Really?" Dustin grinned.
"Yeah." I smiled. I looked over at the girls who were still watching. "Girls this age are dumb. A mouthbreather. But give them a few years, and they'll wise up. And, uh, you're gonna drive them nuts."
"You think so?" Dustin smiled widely.
"Oh, I know so." A small sad smile washed on my face, I may not be able to see Dustin in a few years.
I looked over and saw Stiles staring at us, a frown set on his face. Dustin noticed it too. "Someone's a little jealous."
I chuckled. "He's always like that. Even if it's with an 8th grader."
"You should go dance with him." Dustin suddenly said. "You know, before the songs over."
I shake my head. "No, I'm here with you."
"Go." He pulled away from the dance, giving me a smile. "I'll be fine. Save me another dance though, okay?"
I gave him a smile. "I'll see how my schedule is." I tease him. "Thanks, Dustin."
"Go get him." He encourages me and I laughed before walking towards where Stiles was at the camera, he wasn't taking anyone's photos, just staring off into space.
I smiled more and walked over to him, he noticed me almost instantly and smiled. "Hey." He greets me and pulls me into a hug.
"Hi," I mumble into his chest before pulling away. "Wanna dance?"
"Hell yeah." He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the dance floor. He pulled me closer, as the song Every Breath You Take, plays. I pulled him closer so we were basically touching each other, my arms around his neck, his hands on my waste.
"You know what this reminds me off?" I whispered, a small smile falling on my face. Stiles nods. I put my head on his shoulder. "I miss home, Stiles."
"I know, me too." He whispered in my ear. "But, remember, once we're finished here, we'll be able to go home."
"I don't know why the universe sent me here." I continued. "I know why they sent you here, you're smart. You can help."
"Hey, you can help too. You have helped, how many times do we have to tell you?" Stiles' eyes softened. "You've helped more than me, Stace."
I sighed and looked at him. "Is it quiet at home?"
"Kind of," Stiles mumbled. "Other than a war going on, but knowing Scott he's probably stopped it."
"Yeah." I looked down. He tilted my head and kissed me softly, I kissed back, a small smile curled up to my lips. I pulled away and looked away, looking at all the kids. "Why'd you do that?"
"Because I love you." A cheesy grin fell on his lips.
I rolled my eyes. "Ew, you're too cheesy."
"And you're too perfect."
"Gross, stop it."
