Chapter Nine
Chapter Nine
We pulled up outside the Byers'. We got the things we need and walked into the Byers' home. We put all the Christmas lights back in a place that had been taken out, and the other lights, too.
Jonathan set up the bear trap. Nancy got the gun ready. And I made a bat that had some nails in it, man I should've done this at home. This bat is more deadly this way.
Nancy poured the gasoline in a line. Jonathan made sure the lighter was ready. I had finished with the bat and twirled it around a little, I'm rather proud of my creation.
"Remember."
"Straight into Will's room. And-"
"Don't step into the trap." I cut Nancy off, nodding my head as we stand in Jonathan's living room, going over the plan.
"Wait for the yo-yo to move," Nancy adds on.
"Then..." Jonathan flicks the lighter on. "All right. You guys ready?"
Nancy nodded. "Ready."
I nod as well. "Let's kill this mother fucker."
I take a deep breath and brought the knife to my hand. We had a theory that the blood attracts the Demogorgon, so that's why we're slicing our hands.
"On three," Jonathan whispered. "One... two..." Jonathan looked at us. "Neither of you have to do this-"
"Jonathan, stop talking." I hissed at him.
"I'm just saying, you guys don't have to-"
"Three!" Nancy cried out and we all slice our hands, I winced at the pain.
"Holy shit." I hissed out in pain and looked up, I can't bear blood. We ended up wrapping our hands in a bandage and the pain died down.
We were on the couch after I had wrapped my hand, there was a faint creaking sound in the distance.
"Did you hear that?" Nancy whispered.
"Unfortunately," I mumbled.
"It's just the wind." Jonathan figures. "Don't worry. My Mum, she said the lights speak when it comes."
"Speak?" Nancy raised an eyebrow.
"Blink." Jonathan nods. "Think of them as alarms." It went silent between us.
"Is that too tight?" Nancy asked as she does Jonathan's hand in a bandage.
"No, it's fine." Jonathan stutters. "Thanks." They kind of just look at each other, now I feel like I'm third-wheeling. Oh, no this again! "Nancy?"
"Yeah?" She whispered softly.
There was suddenly a huge knock on the door and we all jumped. I sighed and jumped up from the couch. "Jonathan?" I heard a yell from outside. "Are you there, man? It's... it's Steve! Listen, I just want to talk!"
The banging continued. I went to go get the door. I opened the door and this Steve kid looks at me weirdly.
"Who the hell are you?" Steve asked, blinking a few times.
"Stacey," I answered back in monotone.
Nancy came up behind me, Steve's face lights up. "Steve?" Nancy asked.
"Hey. Nancy, what-" Steve frowned.
"You need to leave." I studied Steve's face, he looked severely beaten.
"I'm not trying to start anything, okay?" Steve tells us.
"I don't care about that." Nancy continued. "You need to leave."
"No, no, no." Steve protested. "Listen, I messed up, okay? I messed up... I messed up. Okay? Really. Please. I just want to make things right. Okay? Please. Please..." He looked at our hands. "Hey, what happened to your guy's hands?" He tried to grab Nancy's hand. "Is that blood?"
"Nothing." Nancy snatches away her hand and I hide mine behind my back. "It was an accident."
"Listen, buddy, you need to leave." I glared at him. "Like right now."
"What's going on?" He demanded.
"Nothing." Nancy insisted.
"Wait a second, did he do this to you?" He tried to push past.
"No," Nancy said again, but he shoved past.
"Nancy, let me in!" Steve demands and he pushed past and I huffed.
"Steve, get out of here!" I demand, pointing at the door but that doesn't do anything. Steve looked around at our creations. "You need to get out of here."
"What is... what the..." Steve mumbled, looking around.
Jonathan approached him. "You need to get out of here."
"What is all this-"
"Listen to me. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you, get out of here!" Jonathan snaps, grabbing onto his shirt.
"What is that smell?" Steve cried out. "Is that gasoline?"
"Steve!" Nancy had gotten the gun and pointed it at him. "Get out!"
"Wait." Steve stutters, in shock. "What? What is going on?"
"You have five seconds to get out of here." I decided, looking over at Steve.
"Okay, is this a joke?" Steve exclaimed. "Stop. Put the gun down."
"I'm doing this for you." Nancy insisted.
I looked up, the lights are blinking. "Nancy," I warned her.
"Wait. Is this a... what is this?" Steve demanded.
"Nancy," Jonathan tried. The lights kept blinking, but she wasn't paying any attention.
"Three. Two." Nancy threatened, pointing the gun.
"No, no, no!" Steve shouts at her.
"Nancy! The lights!" I exclaimed to her and she looked up, her mouth opened. "It's here."
"Wait, what?" Steve asked and I grabbed my bat as Jonathan grabbed the lighter. "What's here?"
"Where is it?" Nancy looked around.
"Whoa!" Steve yelled out. "Easy with that!"
"Where is it?" I demand, looking around with my eyes. The Demogorgon is nowhere!
"I don't know," Jonathan replied. "I don't see it."
"Where is what?" Steve exclaimed. "Hello? Will someone please explain to me what the hell is going-"
That's when the roof caves in, the Demogorgon is right there. Nancy tried to shoot at it with the gun, but the gun wasn't doing shit.
"No!" Jonathan yelled and grabbed Nancy by the waist and pulled her along with us as we ran down the hallway, I made sure Steve was in front.
"Jump!" I yelled at Steve as I jumped the trap, Steve did as well.
"Oh, my God, oh, my God!" Steve yelled repeatedly as we made it to Will's room, I slammed the door shut. "Jesus! Jesus! What the hell was that? What the hell was that?"
"Shut up!" Nancy, Jonathan, and I all yelled at him. The monster screeches from the outside. I raised my bat, Jonathan got out his lighter and Nancy held out the gun.
The Demogorgon is right outside. "What's it doing?" I wonder allowed.
"I don't know," Jonathan answered. The lights in this room were flickering constantly. That's when the electricity stopped flickering.
"Do you hear anything?" Nancy asked.
Jonathan puts the cap on the lighter. "No."
I lower my bat. I walked over and opened the door, popping my head out. The monster wasn't there. The three teenagers behind me slowly come out as well.
The Demogorgon is gone.
I lead them into the lounge, the Demogorgon isn't in here, either. The lights had stopped blinking as well.
"This is crazy," Steve muttered to himself. "This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy! This is crazy! This is crazy!" He rushed over to the phone to probably call 911, but I stormed over there and stopped him. I ripped the phone out of his hand and chucked it across the room. "What are you doing!? Are you insane!?"
"Yes!" I yelled back. "But it's going to come back! So you need to leave. Right now." I watched as Steve darts for the door and smirked to myself.
That's when the lights blink again, making my stomach drop. "Where is it?" Nancy trembled as we twirled around the lounge room, waiting for it.
"Come on," Jonathan muttered. "Come on, you son of a bitch. Either of you see it?"
"No," I answer. "Where-" I cut myself, not bothered to ask that question.
"Where are you?" Jonathan exclaims. "Come on!"
That's when the lights go completely dark, I heard a growl behind me. "Stacey!" I heard Nancy call out my name but it was too late, the monster had gotten on top of me and I had lost my bat! "Stacey!"
I looked up at it, it had no face and lots of fangs. Nothing like I had ever seen before. It opened it's mouth up, but there were gunshots heard.
"Go to hell you son of a bitch!" Nancy cried out and I looked over, she was shooting the gun at the Demogorgon.
I gagged a little when the Demogorgon's sliver hit my mouth and the Demogorgon got off me, before having it's attention to Nancy.
"Nancy!" Jonathan cried out and I rolled away from the Demogorgon, Jonathan helped me up. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I replied back. Nancy tried to shoot the Demogorgon, but it barely worked and she ran out of bullets.
That's when Steve comes in with a battle cry, hitting the Demogorgon with the bat multiple times, the Demogorgon lets out a shriek.
"Steve!" Nancy yelled back. The Demogorgon tried to hit Steve back, but Steve got the Demogorgon's stomach a few times, and it fell into the trap.
"He's in the trap!" Steve yelled. "He's stuck! Jonathan, now!"
I grabbed the lighter from him as he fumbled with it and opened it, before putting the lighter onto the gasoline and it lights up on the Demogorgon.
The Demogorgon screeches as it lights up into flames. "Get back!" Jonathan yelled and got the fire extinguisher, before putting the fire extinguisher on the Demogorgon, putting the fire back. We cough at the smoke, before looking at the trap.
The Demogorgon's gone. "Where did it go?" Nancy asked.
"No," Jonathan muttered. "It has to be dead. It has to be."
The Christmas lights slowly turn on. Not blinking however. But, the lights turned on and we walked down the hallway, watching the light turn on slowly.
"Mum," Jonathan whispered. "Is that you? Mum."
Not saying anything else, we exit the house and outside. The lamp was blinking. "Where's it going?" Nancy asked.
"I don't think that's the monster." Jonathan figures.
I have this bad feeling in my stomach. I hold onto stomach, closing my eyes and placed a hand on Steve's shoulder.
"What are you doing?" I heard him. "What's she doing?"
"Stacey, are you okay?" Nancy asked me.
"I feel like... I need to scream." I whispered, opening my eyes with some tears. "Someone's gonna die."
"What do you mean?" Steve demands. "What does she mean?"
"How do you know that?" Jonathan asked, cocking his head.
"Covers your ears," I instruct them, they looked at each other, unsure. "Cover your ears!" They quickly did that and I let go of Steve's shoulder, I looked towards the forest and I let out a huge scream, louder than I've ever done before.
I stumbled back after I was done and leant onto Steve. "What the hell was that!?" Steve cried out in a panic.
"I'm a banshee, idiot." I pant, watching Jonathan and Nancy's reaction. "A banshee; screams when someone is about to die, or knows. And can sleepwalk to the person's death. Thank God I'm not asleep."
"Who's dead, Stacey?" Nancy whimpered. "Who is it!?"
"I don't know!" I sobbed. "I think it's a lot of them, the bigger the scream, the bigger..."
"Hey, hey, it's okay," Jonathan tells me calmly.
"No, it's not!" I cried out, pushing away from Steve. "I'm not supposed to be here! Or maybe I am, I don't... I don't know! I want to go home!"
"Calm down," Jonathan advises me, walking over to me. I pushed him away, and crossed my arms, walking away from them a little.
"You guys have no idea what it's like waking up in the middle of nowhere, do you?" I turned to them, tears in my eyes. "I want family back. I want my boyfriend back, I want my brother back."
"Wait, you aren't even from here?" Steve asked, raising an eyebrow. "Where the hell are you from?"
"Beacon Hills." I hiccuped. "There was this Wild Hunt, men on horses shoot you and you're gone. Erased from existence. I got shot, yet somehow I ended up here. Was is this bull crap? Maybe the universe sent me here to help you guys out, as much as I want to, I have been no help at all!"
"What? Yes, you have, Stacey," Nancy tells me. "You help defeat the Demogorgon. You helped El. You helped, but you don't even realise it."
I gulped. "My town is gone. I think. Unless my brother stopped it... I don't know. I want to go back home. But I think... I think I have to finish here in order to go home."
"Well, you killed the Demogorgon, didn't you?" Jonathan asked. "Then... then you must be going home at any point."
I shake my head. "I don't think so."
"You don't think we're done?" Nancy whispered.
"No."

Now, we sit wait in the hospital for Will. Thankfully, Joyce and Hopper had found Will safely. Though he almost died, Hopper actually saved him.
I was alone in waiting, however. We were all waiting. The Wheelers family, Hopper, Steve, Dustin, and Lucas.
That's when Jonathan entered. He gave the boys a nod, even though Lucas and Dustin were sleeping, Mike wasn't.
"Guys, guys. He's up. Will is up. Guys, Will is up." Mike shakes his friends awake, who looked at him, dazed. "Guys, come on." Mike sprinted out of the room and Dustin and Lucas sprinted afterwards.
Dustin paused and turned around to me. "You want to meet him?"
I met his gaze. "Who, me?"
"Yeah! Come on!" Dustin grabbed my arm and I got up quickly, rushing out with the boys. We rushed down the hallway and entered the room we were told to go in.
"Byers!" Mike yelled out happily, Will seemed surprised but a smile on his face. I smiled at Joyce who smiled back at me.
"Be careful." Joyce quickly told the boys as they do a group hug. "Be careful with him." I stand next to Joyce happily.
"Guys, guys." Jonathan chuckled as he enters the room. "Go easy on him."
"Who's she?" Will croaked out, pointing at me as he laid on the hospital bed.
"This is Stacey, she helped save you!" Lucas blurted. "You won't believe what happened when you were gone, man."
"It was mental." Dustin bursts.
"You had a funeral," Lucas exclaimed.
"Jennifer Hayes was crying." Dustin chuckled.
"And Troy peed himself." Lucas added.
"What?" Will asked, laughing quietly.
"In front of the whole school!" Dustin grinned. Will coughed, cutting off their excitement.
"You okay?" Mike asked.
"It got me." Will then said. "The Demogorgon."
"We know." Mike softly said. "It's okay. It's dead. We made a new friend. A couple." The boys glanced at me. "But the one we're talking about, she stopped it. She saved us." My heart sank at the mention of El. El disappeared that night she stopped it. "But she's gone down."
Though, I don't think she's dead. I don't think that scream was meant for her, the boys told me that she killed at least six bad men.
"Her name's Eleven." Dustin added.
"Like the number?" Will frowned.
"Well, we call her "El" for short." Lucas informed him.
"She's basically a wizard." Dustin points at me. "And she- she can tell when death is coming and can scream really loudly. Like, sonic loudly."
Lucas then whispered. "El has superpowers."
"More like Yoda." Mike said.
"She flipped a van with her mind." Dustin grinned. "And these agents were shooting at us- and Stacey screamed at James, who flew far away from us!"
"Then El squeezed the brains out..." Lucas added on.
"And blood was pouring out of their faces." Dustin giggled. And they continued to share their stories with Will. I shrink back, feeling like I was introducing on their reunion. I turned around and left, deciding I'll wait out in the hall.
