Party for a Slasher

Izza POV

I wake up, a bit bothered and unable to stay asleep. I realize why: I don't have my rabbit plushie, Snowball. I get up and remember I left her in Moona's closet. I quietly creep into my sister and Alz's room, then to my sister's closet. I notice that Moona isn't in her bed, and I get a bit worried. I turn on the closet light and find my sister reading a book. She looks up at me, confused. "Oh, you're up?" She asks. I nod, "I left Snowball in the closet." I explain. She smiles warmly. "Hm, I think I might've seen her on one of the lower shelves." She responds. It's a bit blurry without my glasses, but I'm able to find my plushie. Moona is still looking at the book. I look at her curiously. "Oh, I'm looking at our old photo album. I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep." She says. I smile a bit and sit down next to her. She points to one. I can make out the blurry image of a girl, around six, standing next to a cradle and holding a newborn, wrapped up in a purple blanket. My sister points to the baby. "That's you, when you were a little newborn." She says, laughing a little. "Aw, you were the sweetest, quietest, little baby." She sighs softly. I laugh a little, but realize something. "Moona, Why did you always keep your eyes closed when you were little?" I ask. She's silent for a little. "That's something I'll need to tell you later." We're quiet, then I fall asleep.

Alyissa POV

I wake up and check my texts from a friend, Sola Lin, on a large group chat I had set up.

Dark_Lord-ofRock: 2 more hours till Skye's back. Storm + Lumy r here, where r u guys?

I text back,

The_SnowQueen: Just woke up, I'll get the others and be there soon. Shame the others aren't available :/

Dark_Lord-ofRock: Yea, sucks. See y'all later

I turn off my phone and get off my bunk bed. I notice Moona isn't there, and I get a bit nervous. I look to the side and awe. Moona and Izza are fast asleep on the floor of the closet. The older has a book in her lap, and the younger is curled up and snuggled to her sister's chest. I don't want to wake them up, but I know how much they both want to come to plan the surprise party for our friend, and Sola's sister, Skye. She had gone on a trip with her friend Xiwang and Xiwang's brother Kai. We hardly ever see Kai, so I don't know him too well. But, the three of them are very close friends. They've grown up together and have a lot was common. Kai is nonverbal autistic and is extremely introverted, Skye has social anxiety, and Xiwang is the quiet kid that's too shy to talk to other people.

I get into my bathroom and change into a teal and white dress, fishnet leggings, black and white boots, and a white and teal hat with three bows. I go over to Moona and poke her awake. She looks up with tired eyes. "Hard time sleeping?" I ask. She nods, trying to be careful, as to not wake up Izza. I smile softly and carefully pick up Izza so Moona can stand up. Izza wakes up and looks at me. "Morning already?" She whines groggily. I giggle a bit. "C'mon kiddo, Skye, Xiwang, and Kai are coming back today, and Sola's throwing a surprise party for Skye when she gets back to the apartment." She say, trying to ignite the enthusiastic, optimistic little girl I know. I laugh when she immediately stops being grumpy, and jumps from my arms, bolting to her bathroom to get ready.

Before you can say "The Great L and D War," we are all ready to go. Izza happily curtsies in her purple, ruffled party dress. Moona applauds, making Izza and me giggle. We walk out of the door and quickly catch a bus to 24 Rightwell St.. Izza is bouncing up and down in her seat, much to the annoyance of the people in the seats next to her. Moona is holding onto a hanging strap tightly. I know she doesn't like being in crowds of strangers, so taking the bus is probably not the best idea. I hold her hand, which seems to calm her a bit. We get off the bus and enter the apartment complex the Circuits and Lin sisters live in. Now, this isn't a tiny, one room apartment that you can hardly rest your head in at night, no. This town might be close and familiar, but it's modern and has large houses. The shops are fairly large, but most are home-owned. Ms. Circuit is a surgeon and she lives on the top floor of the apartment complex with her sixteen year-old daughter Cielo, and Cielo's girlfriend Lin, and her girlfriend's sister Skye.

I believe Skye is older, but if she is, she sure doesn't act like it. It occurs to me that quite a few of these certain girls live together. They are special, something called Lunars. Moona has never really told me what they are, yet she tells me everything. I know they have certain powers and magic from the Mother Moon, or something. They need these crystal markings called Arocrats to help them amplify their magic. But, they are also hard to train, and a big responsibility for the parents. Unfortunately, for the less caring and not very good parents, that means that they have a very hard child to raise. That means that many Lunars are abandoned, but the good parents often let other Lunar children stay with them. That's what Ms. Circuit did for Sola, and even if Skye isn't a Lunar, she stays with them. I don't know what their story is with their parents. They don't talk about them, so we stay out of it.

We wait for the front office lady to ring us up. Izza pokes at the fake plant in the corner of the room. The woman looks back up at us, an unimpressed look on her face. "Alright, miss white-eyes, you're ready to go up." She says. I feel a bit hurt by her comment, since my eyes aren't supposed to be pure white. In fact, they used to be bright blue, like my mother's. However, in an event that I'd prefer not to talk about, I was not only given a scar, but my eyes were turned completely white. I want to say something, but to be blunt, I am a complete doormat. I hardly speak up unless I'm defending my friends from our bullies at school. But to adults, I'm defenseless to their bullying. Just because you've grown up in age, doesn't mean you grow out of making others hurt. So, instead of speaking up, I just smile, nod my head, thank her, and herd my friends into the elevator. "I should've said something." I hear Moona grumble. I look over to her, "It's okay, her comment didn't even sting." I lie. She nods, crossing her arms a bit. Izza is still in a bubbly mood, bouncing around a little. I envy her sweet purity. She has such hope for the world and doesn't seem to notice its imperfections. The elevator dings and I lose my train of thought.

We quickly run to the the apartment Ms. Circuit rents and Izza pretty much pounds on the door. A Hispanic girl with straight black hair, dark teal bangs, big dark teal eyes, and two black streaks under each eye for Arocrats opens the door. She wears a white, long sleeved dress with black trim on the skirt and sleeves, and a black shawl. It's Cielo Circuit.

She's a technological genius, and loves to make amazing inventions, but she's very nervous to show it. We have told her multiple times that being a nerd is a good thing to us, but she's still self-conscious about it.

She smiles at us, "Hey guys! You're finally here!" She chirps. "Skye should be home in around 30 minutes, so come in." She adds, motioning for us to enter.

We walks into the room. It's completely flooded with sunlight because of the giant window in the front room. There's a couch and a few chairs and tables. The apartment is basically on the same level of a modern house. A familiar figure is sitting on the couch, playing around with some spare guitar strings. She's a German and Chinese mix, but mostly looks like her Chinese side. A tall, slim figure, shortish black hair that faded to green in two buns, and one deep green eye not being covered by hair. She's wearing black eyeshadow, dark red lipstick, yellow-rimmed sunglasses, a black collar, fishnet gloves and leggings, a black short jumper with white trim, a leather jacket, and silver moon earrings.

It's Sola, looking like a pop rock artist. She's confident and outgoing, but can be proud and has a bit of a ego. In fact, we've never actually seen her cry. She desperately wants to be a rock artist and has even made her own little band with herself, Xiwang, and Cielo. They don't write their own songs (Sola had admitted they weren't good at it, but they hoped to someday), and mostly just do covers of already existing songs. Hazmat, their band name, has been searching for a gig, but the only kind they've gotten have been a few edgy kids' birthday parties. They've been wanting so badly to join the annual Horizon Battle of the Talent. It's a festival in the city that almost thousands of people attend, but Xiwang and Cielo have convinced Sola they need more practice before they do something like that. We've heard them before, and they're pretty amazing. Sola plays lead guitar, Cielo plays drums, and Xiwang plays bass guitar.

She looks up at us and smiles. "Finally here! I was scared you weren't gonna show." She says. I smile, "Well, we couldn't leave our friends hanging." Moona says, putting her hands on her hips in a joking manner. Sola laughs a little, then Luna (I never really called her Storm) and Lumy come into the room, carrying a tray of cupcakes that I recognize as lemon; Skye's favorite. We wait eagerly for Skye.

Finally, the door knob rattles, and the girl we've been waiting for arrives. She's the same ethnicity as Sola, although looking a bit more German than her sister. However, it isn't too easy to tell, as she's an albino. She freezes as she sees us standing there. "Surprise!" We yell. She covers her mouth in shock, happy sparks lighting up in her eyes. "I-I..." She stammers. Suddenly, she rushes into her sister's arms. "Thank you!" She exclaims. Sola smiles, hugging onto her sister. She backs away from the hug and smiles, "Well, my sister's gotta have a great party for her arrival!" She says, laughing a proudly. I smiles, tugging at my hat. We finally start up the party, and Skye goes into the kitchen to get more cupcakes, since she's a complete sugar addict.

A few minutes later, we hear glass shattering and everyone runs to the kitchen, Sola obviously at the head. We freeze when we see the scene.

Broken glass all over the floor and one of the cabinets open. In Skye's place, a girl with red hair with a black streak, fair skin, rosy cheeks, red eyes, and a knife ready in her hand.

Succubus. Skye and Sola's Darklin.

Darklins are beings of pure evil. They're spirits that are practically attached to people they choose, and can possess them sometimes. Sola and Skye strangely have the same Darklin. The possessions usually happen when the beings possessed are emotionally vulnerable. Succubus must've been ready to pounce, since she knew immediately when to be able to control Skye. I see Sola reluctantly use her Lunar magic, creating bright green hands made of light. They come out of her back like tentacles. Cielo, who doesn't normally use her magic to fight, since her magic was just shields, takes out grey gloves that look pretty innocent. But, she clicks a button on them and they turn into blue electrical blades.

Of course they turn into that.

It's Cielo's creation, obviously.

Lightning flickers a bit in Luna's hands, being reminiscent of her yellow, lightning bolt-shaped Arocrat. I'm too scared, as I'm a Snow Warrior; a being that can create snow, use telekinesis, and are also immortal. I can't use my snow powers yet, as they require a crown my soul can't handle just yet. So, instead, I have my telekinesis.

And the immortality, can't forget that.

I wave my hands in a strange motion, creating flowing, seafoam-green magic ready in my hands. Izza steps up, wanting to fight, but Moona immediately pushes her away. "You and Lumy wait in the other room." She demands. The younger pouts before storming off with her best friend creeping behind her.

Succubus begins the fight, launching at Moona. She dodges and throws the Darklin away, but not before she gets a good cut in her cheek. Luna uses her lightning power to shock Succubus, who stumbles afterwards and turns around to face the red-haired girl. Before she can get a hit in, the electric, blue blade of Cielo's blade-gloves block her. The Darklin is quickly launched back to Sola. It's like a showdown in an old movie. Sola's magic arms crack their knuckles, and Succubus smiles and twirls her knife. The Darklin makes the first move again, but Sola uses the hands to grab her.

Then... Something a bit strange happens...

Sola's earrings begins to glow a bit and Succubus hisses in pain. Suddenly, the Darklin begins to turn back into Skye. Sola immediately releases her sister, who drops to the ground. "Hey, how are you feeling?" She asks, after Skye finishes turning back to herself. Skye laughs a little, rubbing her head. "If this is how all the parties are gonna turn out, I'm sure I'm done with them for one lifetime." She jokes. Skye always knows how to take any situation and make everyone laugh about it, no matter how bad. I smile softly, tilting my head to the side.

After, we get all the glass cleaned up and relax a bit after that shake-up. Luckily, we still have some cupcakes to calm ourselves. Cielo patches up Moona's cut. Moona protests because it "isn't that serious", but Cielo is more resilient than I am when it comes to that. We decide to crash at their apartment, since Moona doesn't want to take the bus, and my mother is coming back from her night shift the next day, so she can pick us up.

Moona curls up on the couch next to me, with Izza snuggling to her chest. I cover the sisters up in a blanket and wrap myself up in another, before being grabbed into a cuddle/hug with my friend. I don't understand why friends can't cuddle with each other without people thinking they're dating. I believe that you can cuddle with someone, and just be friends with them. That's what my friends and I do. We like cuddling together, and if my friends and I are sleeping somewhere away from home, we usually sleep in one cuddling pile together. These are my last thoughts before I fall asleep, exhausted by the day.
