Tag You're It

We finally made it the upside down version of the Wheelers. Its was all dark and covered in vines.

"Might be time to get a maid, Wheeler." Robin comes in with comment. Stuff like that brings me down to earth and not make me cry because we might stuck here.

"Come on. I don't want to stay here longer than we have to." We followed her upstairs and into her room. Nancy goes into her closet and pulls down a shoe box. In the box there wasn't guns. Shit.

"Yeah uh Nancy. Those aren't guns. You said you have them." I started to freak out.

"These heels are pointy, but I was hoping for a deadly projectile."

"I don't understand." Nancy closes her eyes.

"Maybe you left them somewhere else."

"There's a six-year-old in the house. I know where I keep my guns. And also, I threw these away years ago." She puts down the heels and picks up some flash cards.

"Its not a great time to study either." I sighed.

"These are from sophomore chemistry." She looks up. "And this... this wallpaper, this is old wallpaper. And this mirror, this went to a yard sale. And you..." she picks up a Pluto stuffed dog. "You're not supposed to be here. No, I gave you to Cousin Joanna two years ago." Uhhh whats going on then? None of this is making sense. She picks up her diary and flips through the pages.

"What is it? Nancy? You're freaking me out."

"I think the reason that my guns aren't here is because they don't exist yet." Im sorry? Come again?

"They don't... exist?"

"This diary should be full of entries. It's not. The last entry is November 6, 1983." She shows us.

"The day Will went missing." I whispered.

"The day the gate opened. We're in the past." I didn't feel so good. What is this? Back to the Future? We snapped at the door as we heard Steve yelling out for Dustin. We rushed to the living room and see him going in circles.

"Dustin! Can you hear me? Dustin! Du... Hello? Hel... Hello?" The four of us stared at him.

"Maybe he really does have rabies." Robin whispers into my ear.

"Hello! Hello?"

"Steve? What are you doing?" I called out and he pointed the flashlight at us.

"He's here. Henderson. That little shit, he's here. He's like... He's in the walls or something. Just listen." We stopped talking for a moment to hear but here was Steve screamed out for Dustin. "Dustin! Dustin! Dustin! Can you hear me?" Then I heard it. It was him. Holy shit. I joined Steve, calling out for the boy and looking like a weirdo as I walked around the room.

We all joined, going around the kitchen and living room. And nothing. No talk back.

"All right, either this kid can't hear us or he's being a total douche bag."

"Will found a way."

"What?" I crossed my arms.

"Will. He found a way to speak to Joyce through the lights." No wonder there was so much Christmas lights in the shed! Nancy went around and flipped the switches.

"It's not working."

"Hey uh Guys?" I stood above the chandelier that was on. "You seeing this? Or is Vecna in my head?" They all turned to me. We came close to the light, reaching out. The lights started to get brighter as we touched it. The sensation was funny. It tickled, it felt good.

"Does anyone know Morse code?" Robin and Steve said no.

"Wait, does SOS count?" Eddie said.

"I know couple of words." I also said. They all turned to us. Eddie and I took turns on the light. SOS, Help me, was repeated over the lights to get Dustins attention.

"It's working." Got them.

We went back upstairs to Nancys room, wait for the kids to get the Lite-Brite set up to talk to us. We heard Dustins voice echoed the room. Nancy drags her hand over the screen, it lit up. We smiled as it worked. The lights go off and now we have to write. Nancy drags her finger to write Hi. It worked! We jumped for joy.

"Hi!" Eddie gets all happy.

"Okay um..."

"Tell him we're stuck." Nancy nods and starts to spell. The kids try to guess it.

"Stu...stupid? Stupid?" We heard them. Well hold on! Nancy finished the word. "Stuck."

"Yes." Eddie hums in agreement and we sat in front of the light also agreeing.

"You cant go through watergate?" Dustins voice echoes.

"What the hells watergate?" Steve sighs. Of course Dustins names for these stuff.

"Cause it's in water and it's a gate."

"Oh. That's cute." Nancy writes again. Guarded. They got it still. We heard that Dustin can get us out.

"Genius child."

"We think Watergate isn't the only gate. That there's a gate at every murder site."

"Does anybody understand what he's talking about?" We all shook their heads. Nancy sends a question mark.

"How many times do I have to be right on the money before you trust me?" Dustin yells back.

"Jesus Christ. This kid's gotta get his ego in check." Steve scuffs.

"It's his tone. Right?" Eddie joins in.

"Its a age thing. He's getting more needy and all. High school boys." I also scuffed.

"He wasn't this needy when you left." Steve looks at me. "He kept complaining about how little he sees you and then tells me that you steal me from him, i can never win."

"Ahh Dustin." I had to get back to where we ways. We were getting sidetracked. "Back to this." I thought. "He means when Venca killed. Okay. So... So Eddie, how far is your trailer?" I turned to him.

"Seven miles." He frowns.

"Wendy? Uh, I know Nancy's house here is, like, weirdly, creepily frozen in time and shit, but haven't they always had bikes?" The family has bikes! We head out and got on the bikes.

"Wait!" They froze. "I know where we can get a gun." I hopped on the back of Robins and we rode to my old house since it was on the way to Eddies.

"Wendy, you weren't even here yet, you didn't come until a year later." Steve stops.

"I know. But Lonnies gun was." I cracked a smile and ran out to the shed with Robin. There it was, hanging up on the side, waiting to be taken. "Bingo." I took it and we came out. I stared off the distance and saw the little fort Will made.

"Uh Wendy, we're this way." Robin calls out. I kept going. Robin stomps her legs and ran behind me. "How cute, a little fort, in the middle of the woods, where bats and stuff can come from anywhere, can we go? I don't want to be dinner."

"Just give me a second." I crawled in there and some papers crunched as I crawled. Was this Wills drawings? I squatted down and looked. It was his. He hid here, all this time. I started to cry. "Oh Will." I picked up the small drawing and folded into my pocket.

"Lets go!" Robin grabs my hand and we head back to the rest. "She found one!" They cheered silently.

"Byers knows how to shoot? Wheeler has guns? What in the world?" Eddie talks to himself.

"Come on." We rode to Eddies place. On the way there, we saw the bats flying over the Creels house. How much you want to bet that he was in there?

Made it. We ran into the trailer park. We dropped off the bikes and walked up.

"That's gotta be a Guinness World Record. Most miles traveled interdimensionally."

"Cant wait for that medal in the mail."

"Just inhaled a bunch of that crap." Steve coughs and spits back up. "It's stuck in my throat." The small trailer was covered in vines, dark and all. We looked up to see the gate. "Goddamn."

"This is where Chrissy died. Like, right where she died." The gate started to move.

"Uh guys?" I held Robins hand. The center started to poke through. I pointed the gun at it, ready for what comes out.

"What the hell is that?" Then it stops. We jumped as it opened. Just as i about to pull the trigger, it was a stick. I lowered the gun and stepped up under.

"No way." It was literally Eddies place, our real world. And then theres Lucas, Dustin, Erica and Max, laughing and waving at us.

"Hi there. Hi. Hi." We smiled back and waved.

"Holy shit, this is trippy." Robin was amazed.

"Bada-bada-boom!"

The kids set up a landing spot and makeshift rope to climb out of. The head to Eddies room and brought his bed. I frowned as I saw stains. I really don't want to question that.

"Those stains are, uh... I dunno what those stains are." Eddies stutters. How lovely. Dustin throws up the rope and it comes down to us.

"There we go. And if my theory is correct..." he lets go. "Huh. Abracadabra." Well done Henderson. "All right, pull on it! See if it holds!" Robin hangs on it, its safe.

"Guess I'm the guinea pig." Robin heads up first, climbing up. I shouldve done the rope at gym, i thought we weren't gonna do anything like this in my life. Upper arms, dont fail me.

"Oh my God! Oh, thank God." Robin lands. Yes! It worked! "That was fun."

"All right, guess I'll go." Eddie goes, flips and laughs. Then goes Nancy. We helped her, now on the other side. It was just me and Steve.

"See you on the other side." He tells me.

"On the other side." I smiled at him. I hopped up, him helping me. Im almost there. Just as i was about to go, i let go and I started to fall in a pit of darkness.

Wendy didn't move. She stayed and her eyes rolled back. Steve quickly starts to wake her up, panicking.

"Wendy. Hey! Hey! Stay with me." He shakes her again. "Wendy! Hey! Wendy, wake up. Wake up! Wendy! Come on baby! I need you to wake up! Not now! Shit!" Steve was starting to cry. He can't have his girl die right here. "Baby you need to come back to me! Stop, this isn't funny!"

"Vecna." Max said as she looks up.

I landed hard on a couch. I groaned and rolled off it. This isn't Eddies place. "Steve? Steve!" I screamed out. Wait... the place looked familiar. No. It cant. I raced to the mirror and saw my younger self, i touched my hair, jet black, Joan Jett haircut, smoked out eyeliner with messed up lipstick. "Oh no."

"Wendy!" The door hits the wall. My head snaps back.

"Lonnie..." I whispered. He comes rushing in. He was drunk. Damn it. This isn't good.

"Where is he?" He looks around.

"Wheres who?"

"Dont play stupid with me!" He trashed the place. I hid in the corner as he flips the coffee table. "You're just like the rest of them, weak, scared. No wonder your parents left, I wouldn't want you either." He cracks his knuckles.

"Lonnie, please." My voice broke, tears ready to fall.

"Stop crying, jesus christ Wendy, you are such a baby."

"Im not crying." I said as I stood up and walked away from him. But he followed my every move.

"You think you're going to have a happy ending like your parents did? Good luck, you never will. Nobody will ever love you." He comes up to my face. I flinched and turned my face to the side as he threw the comments at me. "Everything that has happened to you, your parents, you being an orphan, you being in a sick relationship with that Freddy guy, you deserve it all." Tears fell. Stop. I want this all to stop. "It should've been you that died! My brother deserved to live! My brother! Not his weak, pathetic daughter!"

"No wonder aunt Joyce left you." I slowly turned my face to his. His whiskey breath hit my face.

"The hell you just say?" His voice got lower. He slaps me across the face.

"Im sorry!" I put my hands up to stop him. "No no please dont hurt me." He hits me again and throws the stuff on the floor at me. "Lonnie please." I cried as he pins me down by my arms.

"You think you're so tough. Look at you. If only your dad see they way you turned out, he would be so disappointed in you."

"I didn't mean it, i take it back." I kicked him and got up and ran to my room. I locked the door, used my body to hold it against him. Lonnie kept banging on the door. Swearing and hitting. "Steve! Help!" I cried for help. I just want to go home...

AN: this isn't the end of it. theres more of this coming! I swear! Stay tune. Vecna really is having a ball with Wendys trauma.
