[40] : BLOOD

"You heard me. Become a Death Eater to save Draco." Astrid stared at Severus for a long time, he was being serious. She couldn't believe he just asked her that. She could join, as it was expected of the Black family and Slytherins. But she wasn't like the rest, at least she hoped.

"No." Astrid whispered, shaking her head. "No I won't! You can't just straight up ask me that!" She shook her head again. "No, no, no, I won't! I can't! Draco deserves it! Uncle Lucius deserves to rot in Azkaban! I really don't care!" Astrid was lying, Severus knew that but he just nodded.

"If you want to know more about Ophelia, try her father or Lyall Lupin." He said and began walking away. Astrid knitted her brow in confusion, did he just help her? In some sort of way?

"I wish I could help Draco, Severus, but I can't. I just can't."

Severus said nothing but press his lips together in an attempt at a smile and walked off, leaving Astrid behind, sighing to herself before she decided to go home. Astrid arrived first and Remus had found her sitting in the chair, looking gloom. He said nothing to her as he went to kitchen to get a glass of water.

"I'm sorry I acted like that earlier about Ophelia." Remus began, sighing. "I don't like talking about her, I buried her away long ago. What we did, your father, me, James, Peter, Lily and even Severus, was cruel. Just because her father asked us to." He shook his head. "I regret it, a lot. He was a cruel man Ell, he hated his own daughter. He wanted to see her broken, only after losing her did he see the error of his ways. He never liked seeing her happy, he used to hit her, a lot. Her only safe place was Hogwarts." Astrid thought it was kind of funny, Cedric died on Hogwarts grounds and Ophelia died on Hogwarts grounds yet they both felt safe at Hogwarts.

"Her father is still alive isn't he?"

"Yes, but how did you... You asked Severus didn't you? Ell I thought I told you not to, Severus has no right to talk about Ophelia."

"I'm sorry uncle Rem—"

"It's fine Ell."

When Astrid woke up the following day, she was in a lot of pain but she brushed it off like she brushed her hair, and she noticed that her hair was an even darker, deadlier shade of black today. She sighed when she walked into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

"Morning Ms Black." Astrid nearly jumped when she heard Dumbledore's voice and she narrowed her eyes at the man but he happily smiled in return.

"You nearly gave me a heart attack! What are you even doing here?"

"Only here to see if I can change your mind about leaving the Order." Astrid shook her head.

"I'm not going to change my mind Professor, ever. The Order was supposed to keep him safe, you were supposed to keep him safe Professor." She took in a deep breath but winced in pain instead when it felt like her chest was being stabbed and the memories of that night came flooding back, Sirius dying, her almost dying, Bellatrix laughing, her thinking about Charlie and Oliver. "I'm sorry Professor, but can you kindly leave?"

"Of course, give my greetings to Remus." He smiled and turned around. "Before I go Ms Black, you'd probably want to change out of that shirt before Remus sees the blood and worries about your health." He sighed. "Your dreams Astrid weren't showing you the future about Cedric Diggory or your father, you were just terrified. Terrified that they might die and leave you to die alone. Good day Ms Black."

Astrid stared at the spot Dumbledore vanished for a long time. Many people had told her that Dumbledore was crazy, but now she believed it first hand. She just sighed and went to change her blood covered shirt, though she didn't know where the blood came from.

Astrid jumped awake from where she sat that afternoon, why didn't Remus wake her up? She stretched her aching and tired muscles as she yawned and she slowly stood up, only to stop mid-stretch and mid-yawn when her eyes landed on two familiar faces.

"Jack! Salazar!" Astrid yelled out and walked up to them. "What are you doing here? How'd you even know I'm here? Who'd you come with? Why are you here? Oh God, I can't believe it's really you! I've missed you!"

"Well," Jack shrugged as he pointed to Remus, who came in just at the right moment and he smiled at Astrid.

"You were growing lonely Astrid, plus you kept moping about Salazar." Something was wrong with Remus, he never called Astrid by her first name, it always had been Ell or Ella to him but Astrid brushed it off. Perhaps he took notice of how much she hated the name Elladora.

"Thank you uncle Remus." Astrid smiled back. "You hungry Jack? You can leave Sal over there, I'll take him to my room later on."

"I'd eat a horse." Jack groaned, putting the portrait down and followed Astrid into the kitchen, where Astrid summoned Kreacher to make them lunch. She'd find out what's wrong with Remus later on.

"So, did you find anyone special? Any special job?"

"Well, my mum shut her pants when I told her I want to be Minister Of Magic and told me that I should have realistic dreams, but it's realistic isn't it? She wants me to further my stupid dad's work and continue in his ranks beside the Dark Lord. I mean sure I was in Slytherin and I literally put the sly in Slytherin but have you seen the guy? I'd laugh at him and he'd kill me without letting me say goodbye to my mum, who'd shit her pants if she found out I'm dead." He shrugged. "And nah, I haven't found anyone special. I mean Pansy Parkinson did hint that she loved me but eew, her face makes me want to puke, so I don't think kissing her would go very good."

Astrid laughed at him and hugged him. Jack was confused but hugged back nevertheless. "I missed you Jack, don't leave me like Cedric, or my dad or Charlie, please." Maybe know she understood what Dumbledore was on about.

"Hey, when I said through and through, I meant it. I would die by your side Astrid and I'd kill anyone who tries to mess with you or Sal, he grew on me." Astrid chuckled at him.

"Ell, it's nearly dark out and it's a full moon tonight. Would you mind spending the night at Jack's? Take Salazar with you." Remus asked when he came into the kitchen and Astrid nodded eagerly.

"Our first sleepover!" They both squealed together and Astrid began dancing to some imaginary music, humming something that sound like another one bites the dust as she violently danced and if Remus could, he'd capture it all. He sighed as he looked at her and Jack joined in the dancing, and he hummed something that sounded like you maniac.

Why didn't he have any children of his own? Astrid felt like his own daughter, as they have been extremely close ever since but she didn't fill that hole exactly. He really needed to tell Tonks how he felt.
