[1] : HARRY POTTER COMES TO HOGWARTS

The hat hadn't even touched a single hair on his head when it bellowed a loud and clear, “Slytherin!” and everyone at the Slytherin table erupted in cheers and claps. Astrid was smiling, no beaming, when Draco casually walked up to the table and the older girl embraced him in a hug.

"It's about fucking time!" She smiled, patting him on the back and turning back to the Sorting. She recognized a few of the names, those few being noble and ancient Pure-Blood families.

Once the feast started, everyone fell into conversations of their own. Draco was talking to Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, and Astrid was minding her own business. She didn't have any friends in Slytherin, except her cousin now. (Which was sad, honestly.) She was good friends with Oliver Wood, the Gryffindor Keeper, and the Hufflepuff Seeker, Cedric Diggory.

"Trissy, have you heard?" She suddenly heard Draco ask her with a mouth full of food. He was eating as though he hadn't eaten in a hundred years. Even though that was far from the truth. Before they left Malfoy Manor, they had a mini feast and on the train, Astrid bought him all the candy he asked for. (And that's how she lost all her money, her entire allowance gone just like that.)

"Heard what?" She asked, a mouth full of food herself. They grinned at each other. Draco and Astrid had always been close. Since the day Draco had been born, Astrid was there, playing the role of an older sister and she has never dropped it. She'd jump off a bridge to save Draco. In fact, she'd jump off a cliff to save the entire Malfoy family, including their house elf Dobby.

"Harry Potter is here. You did pay attention to the Sorting Ceremony, did you not?" He took another bite from his meat. Astrid shook her head, she wasn't paying attention.

"Only paid attention when they called your name and a few other Pure-Blood families." She shrugged, taking a sip from her pumpkin juice before pulling a face. "Note to self, chicken does not go well with pumpkin juice."

Astrid never knew her biological parents and from what Narcissa and Lucius told her, her adoptive father, Sirius Black, found her on their doorstep and he decided to raise her as his own. Walburga, her adoptive grandmother, was not very fond of this idea, as well as her aunt Bellatrix. Sirius ran away, with her, to live with the Potter family. After this stunt, Walburga burned him off the family tree. She lived with them until Sirius was sentenced to twelve years in Azkaban and that's when the Malfoys took her in.

"I see, only paid attention to people who actually matter in this pathetic school." Draco muttered, placing his meat on his plate. He wiped his mouth and hands before looking at Astrid. "If my father was head of this school, everything would be so much better."

"No offense Draco, but uncle Lucius has a tendency to get a little — how to put this in a non offensive way? — uh — crazy, I guess." Draco was about to say something, to defend his father but a voice cut him off.

"Black! Nice to see you!" Astrid looked over to see Oliver squeeze himself beside her and push a girl named Violetta Vickers aside to let Cedric sit. "And this must be your cousin." His brown eyes trailed over to Draco, who had a sneer on his face. He looked as though all the food he had consumed was going to erupt out. "I'm Oliver Wood, Keeper for Gryffindor Quidditch team."

"No one asked you Wood." Cedric said, pushing his head out the way to get a better look at Draco. Oliver slapped him behind the head, to which Cedric responded by roughly pushing him out his seat. He looked at Draco with a smile playing on his lips. "Cedric Diggory." He extended his hand to Draco, who just looked at it, disgusted, and turned to face Crabbe and Goyle and they continued their discussion of whatever they talking about the first time. Cedric furrowed his brow in confusion before lowering his hand. "He's not very friendly is he?"

"Unfortunately no." Astrid nodded and Draco threw them a deadly glare. "He tries though, even if he is unsuccessful. Who knows, maybe one day he will succeed?"

"How you're family, baffles me." Oliver remarked, taking his seat again before stealing Astrid's plate. Her salad was left halfway eaten, her meat was completely devoured and the other things, like the beet, were left untouched.

"Thankfully, it's none of your concern." She stabbed her fork into her salad but she didn't take a bite. She never has told her two best friends that she was actually adopted, that Draco wasn't really her cousin, that her father wasn't really Sirius Black.

Maybe that's why Astrid didn't hate Sirius. He wasn't really her father but he took her in when no one would, he raised her, the Potter family helped, Sirius gave her everything she could have ever hoped for.

"Quirrell's the new Defense Professor." Cedric said, knowing fully well that Astrid didn't listen to Dumbledore's long and very unnecessary speech. (He always muttered odd things that made no sense and Astrid secretly wondered if he was on the verge of insanity.) Astrid looked taken aback at first before she scanned the table where all the Professor's sat and she locked eyes with Severus Snape. The man had always despised her, and she didn't know why.

"Stutt-stutt-ering Q?" Cedric nodded, helping himself to a tart. Astrid then shook her head, she couldn't believe it.

"Are you guys going to practice this week?"

Both Oliver and Astrid shook their heads and this took Cedric by surprise. Both Oliver and Astrid were passionate about Quidditch, they made it their mission to kill any competition. Last year's final game was Slytherin versus Gryffindor, the game ended with Oliver, who was bleeding somewhere from his head and a broken arm. Astrid on the other hand, had a few broken ribs, her nose was completely shattered and her arm was broken as well. Cedric loved Quidditch, but not as much as Oliver and Astrid. They were completely obsessed with it.

"I can't, I promised aunt Cissy I'll help Draco during his first week." Astrid replied, watching Draco who was miraculously engaged in a conversation with Marcus Flint.

"The demon spwan looks just fine to me." Oliver spoke, eyes never leaving Draco and Marcus.

"That's my cousin you little fuck!" Astrid hissed, slapping him hard behind the head. Cedric, who was completely oblivious to the current conversation thanks to the tarts and Violetta Vickers, who Cedric managed to convince he was dating Oliver, saw the action and pushed him off his chair.

"Would you stop that?!" He angrily said, brushing the dirt from his robes.

"But you said something!" Cedric argued, stuffing his mouth. Oliver said nothing but glare at him. He then began mumbling something in the line of “you weren't even paying attention but I was saying something.”

"I'll see you on the pitch tomorrow, right?" Oliver asked. It seemed as though he had changed his mind and he wanted to practice anyway. Astrid was going to say no, as she still needed to fulfill her promise to her aunt Cissy. She opened her mouth but sighed instead when she saw the slight glimmer of hope in his puppy brown eyes.

"Fine, but after classes and after I do my homework." Oliver beamed and bid her goodbye, saying something about wanting to hear the practice schedules. Astrid was about to tell him that it was the first day back at school but the brunette had already sped off.

"You have odd friends." Draco said, ignoring what Crabbe was about to tell him. Cedric too ignored what Violetta said, facing Draco, who now had a smirk on his face when his gray eyes landed on Cedric.

"At least I have friends." Astrid crossed her arms over her chest. "Friends who I don't boss around, friends who I don't ignore the minute they try to tell me something."

Everything around them was quiet for awhile, Astrid and Draco staring intensely at each other before Draco cracked a smile.

"This is going to be tremendous fun."
