Surprise Guest
Becky woke to find someone sitting beside her, and she saw the familiar red ribbon in the girl's hair, and remembered who she was. "Cynder...? What are you doing here? The last time I saw you was when we were getting experimented on and you were in a coma or something," she said.
"My brother took a break today, so I decided I'd sneak away for a while and visit you," Cynder explained. "Hopefully he doesn't catch me and drag me back to that room. I hate those things he does to me. I know he doesn't have a choice, since he's being mind controlled, but he could at least try to fight it."
"Maybe he can't? What if there's something preventing him from doing so?" Becky pointed out. "Hmm, you may be right. But it needs investigating. Think you're able to help me?" Cynder asked.
"I can try," Becky said, sitting up in bed. "But lately I haven't been feeling up to snuff. I think it's cause of the things that are being done to us taking their toll on me."
"Do you need a doctor? I can get Gohan," Cynder offered, pressing the call button for the doctor, and waited for someone to answer. "No, I'll be okay. Just hang up and we'll go. I don't need a doctor right now," Becky said, shaking her head.
"But you said you weren't feeling well lately, that's cause for concern. There should be a thermometer in here somewhere," Cynder said, looking in the cabinets and found one. "There we go, now lift your tongue and I'll check you for a fever."
She then placed it in Becky's mouth under her tongue, and a few seconds later it beeped, reading a slight fever. "You are running one, so just sit tight and I will see if they have any medicine laying around in here," Cynder said, looking in the cabinets again.
"Cynder I'll be okay, just let me rest for a little bit and then we can leave," Becky insisted. "It's not like I'm dying." "No, but you are sick," Cynder told her. "Aha, found it. Now open up." She poured the medicine onto a spoon, and fed it to her, and received a groan.
"Didn't I say I was fine?" Becky said. "You're fussing way too much over me. It's just a slight fever, that's all. It's not like it's the plague or something."
"Shush, plus it could turn into a much higher one if we don't get it down," Cynder added. "And I'm not fussing, I'm taking care of you. Why? Cause you're my friend." She smiled at Becky, and she smiled back for the first time in what felt like forever.
"Okay, you're right. It's just I'm used to taking care of myself, and hardly ever go to the doctor for anything unless I'm seriously hurt or sick," Becky admitted. "You should always go to the doctor for routine check-ups, Becky," Cynder scolded her.
"Why? I feel fine most of the time," Becky said. "To yourself, but sometimes you don't know what could be going on with your body on the inside, so you have to see a doctor to make sure everything is okay," Cynder told her. "Well, okay, I won't argue with that. You make a very solid point. And my heart has been acting up lately; I have an arrhythmia," Becky said.
"A what-mia?" Cynder asked her. "An arrhythmia," she repeated. "It's what I call heart flutters but it's also known as an irregular heartbeat." "Then you should definitely get it checked out," Cynder said, "especially if it's been acting up lately." She pressed the call button again, and Gohan answered it.
"Yes? Is everything okay?" He asked, at his desk filling out paperwork that 21 had piled high on it, full of information on the experiments and the results so far. "We need you to come over here, Becky's sick and her heart is acting up," Cynder said.
"Okay, I'll be over there in a few minutes, just let me finish up this last bit of paperwork," Gohan said, filling it out quickly and putting it away, then got up and stretched, putting his lab coat and stethoscope on, then walked to Becky's room, knocking on the door.
"May I come in?" He asked politely. "Yes, and I gave Becky some medicine already," Cynder said. "That's good, I'm glad you did, since I'm the one who left it here for her," Gohan admitted. "Now, what seems to be the problem?" "My heart is acting up and at first I thought it would be fine but it's been acting up all week," Becky said. "I see, well let me run some tests real quick, okay?" Gohan said, listening to her heart and checked her pulse, finding a tiny bit of one.
"Hmm, your heart is indeed acting strange, and your heart rate needs to be brought back up to normal. Have you been eating right and exercising? I know we're trapped here for a while, but you still need to keep up with your diet and exercise," he told her. "Well, if you count being forced to fight clones as exercise," Becky joked. "I mean other than that, have you been able to get up and walk around a bit? Every little bit helps," Gohan said. "No, because I can't really move that much right now," she admitted. "So I've been laying here in bed."
"Well, why don't you try to move a little bit now? Don't do too much, just try and see if you can stand up," he said, offering to help her out of the bed so she could have some support when getting out.
"I can't really feel my legs, they're so numb but it's so painful to walk," Becky said, her legs giving out when she tried to stand. Gohan put her back in bed and examined them, gently pressing up and down on them. "Can you feel this?" He asked, and she nodded. "A little bit, but that's it," she said.
"Alright, hold still, I'm going to give you a shot in your legs to help them, okay? It might hurt a little," Gohan said, giving her the injection and she winced slightly, but held still. "There we go, you should be able to walk around in a few hours, but take it easy for now."
"Okay, thank you Gohan," Becky nodded, and layed back against the pillows set by Cynder, and felt sleepy, yawning. "Cynder, do you mind if I take a nap?" She asked. "Go ahead, you'll need to get as much rest as you can before our investigation," she said. "Investigation? For what?" Gohan asked suspiciously, raising a brow.
"Didn't I tell you not to go poking around in places you're not supposed to?" He said, giving her a stern look. "But it's really important!" She argued. "Cynder, you don't have permission. Ask for it first before you go poking around unauthorized, you could get in serious trouble or worse, caught," Gohan scolded her.
"Fine fine, let me just ask Black for permission. Oh wait, I can't! He's under mind control!" Cynder said, sitting down with a huff and folded her arms, glaring at Gohan. "Okay, fine, I'll give you my permission, just promise to be careful, please? I don't want to lose you and Becky too," he said, hugging her. "You won't, I'll be careful," she promised, hugging him. "And once we find proof of who is behind all of this, they will pay. Very dearly."
