Recap:

William was frustrated with our lack of violence, and reached an arm to one of his posse members, who hands him an aluminum baseball bat. He raises it above his head, and gets hit in the face with a rock. The hit had enough force behind it to knock him over and leave him dazed.

I look back at the others, but they all look just as confused. None of us had thrown it.

"Get your pompous ignorant a**es out of here before I come down there and rip your f**king arms off!!" A woman's voice yelled from above us.

We all looked up, to see Evi standing on the room of Kanna's apartment, glaring down at William and his posse with a brick held in one hand and raised over her head. Her entire body was outlined in red fire, signifying that she was beyond furious with what she had heard of the conversation. "Get out!!"

The posse was terrified by the demon's strength, and didn't have to be told twice, and quickly scooped William up to his feet, and retreated once again.

Unfortunately, we didn't even have much time to celebrate our victory.

"C'mon up, we gotta talk." The demon's tone of voice was serious enough to return our general sense of fear and nerves.

"So.. Why do you think she's angry?" Mason asks on our way up to the apartment room

"Angry?" The rest of us question in unison

"Yeah.. She sounded angry.." Mason states

"No she didn't." Thresh blinks

"Well.. I don't know how else to explain it.. It's weird seeing her so serious." Mason defends his stance

"Yeah.. Especially since her two moods consist of anger and sarcastic teasing." I laugh

"I like serious a lot better than her screaming." Kanna laughs before silence envelopes us all

Kiki decides to break it. "It was.. kinda creepy.." 

None of us said anything in response, but we were all silently agreeing

Once we got to the door, we noticed Sonya standing in front of it as if she was debating knocking

"Oh hey, you're here too?" My question made her jump a bit

"Yeah.." She nods, smiling once she saw it was only us

"Did Evi lock you out..?" Firo  unlocks the door with her key and steps inside. "What are you doing out here all alone??"

"Nothing." Sonya says this quickly

The rest of us follow.

Evi is waiting for us, Dogost happily napping next to her as she pets him. 

"Soooo.. Why are you mad..?" Mason blinks. 

"Mad?" Evi blinks in confusion

"Yeah.. You're not usually the serious type.." Mason points out

"Or the rational type." Thresh states

"Or the helping-just-for-the-sake-of-helping type.." Kiki adds

"Or th-" 

"Alright! I get it, I get it, I get it..." Evi pauses as Sonya adds: "She's not a bad person!" 

"Sonya?" Evi blinks

Sonya steps out from behind me and waves a bit. "Hello Evi!"

"Why..? What are you doing here? I told you to wait for me back home.." Evi walks over to her

"We found her outside the door alone." Firo states 

"Alone?!" Evi panics. She kneels down. "Are you okay? Did anyone see you?" Another new emotion, genuine worry

"Yes.. I'm fine, don't worry... Besides.. I don't like it when you leave me alone... It makes me think you're never coming back.." Sonya frowns

Evi pauses, then sighs and slowly nods, offering a hand to Sonya

The child happily takes it and walks Sonya to the couch, sitting down. Sonya crawls onto the couch and sits on the demon's lap, happy to be there.

Evi doesn't let us say anything about it: "Anyway.. I needed to ask you all something kinda important.."

"Ask away." Kiki grins

"You remember back when you first met Dogost? And I told you to repair that shield thing..?" Evi questions

"Yeah..." Firo slowly nods. "What about it?"

"How.. Exactly.. did you fix it?" She asks

"A really annoying trial-and-error process.." Kanna mumbles

"We managed to repair most of it.. Well, all of it except--"

"The power source?" Evi inturrupts

Thresh nods. "Yeah.. We got a new crystal from- well, Kanna saw her..."

"From a cloaked woman with purple hair." Kanna explains.

"What exactly  did she give you?" Evi slowly looks at Kanna

"A blue fabric sack... With two purple gems inside.. At the time I didn't care who she was.. Just that I was tired of looking for a way to power that stupid thing..." Kanna explains

Evi slowly nods in understanding. 

"Why do you need to know about this all of a sudden..?" Kanna blinks

"Well.. I've had a suspicion about this for a while.. About random event that come out of nowhere as if someone is putting them into place." Evi states. "I think someone's messing with me, and messing with all of you.."

"That's a little paranoid, isn't it?" Mason asks. "Just because of some mysterious woman who showed up and left exactly what we needed without knowing us or what we were.. Repairing...." He pauses. "Actually.. Now that I say it out loud... That is kinda strange.."

"Still a leap to a crazy conclusion.." Thresh states. "After only one event like this.." 

"No, there have been more." 

"What..?" Thresh blinks

"That was the only one to be in-your-face obvious.. But trust me.. There have been a lot more..." Evi looks at him

"Like?" He's confused

"Like Firo suddenly finding my house.. And on the same night, me forgetting my jacket even though I knew it was with me at the time so I had to turn back, and found you all in my house.. Or like when Firo somehow knew about a sleeping patch that was built to knock a mind demon unconscious.. Or when she decided to steal it, and the golem--"

"Is that what that stone guy was?" Firo blinks.

"Yes.." Evi starts where she left off: "--decided to chase after her and he suddenly disappeared and that theft was never brought to your attention again.. How did any of you know about Dogost? And why did your headmistress decide to call a ghost extermination company that I was working for part time?" 

"That really just sounds like a long list of coincidences..." Thresh points out

"But that  many??" Thresh pauses when she says this and looks like he's thinking

"Yeah.. life's full of coincidences." Firo states

"Really..?" Evi raises an eyebrow.

"Yeah.. There's no need to be so paranoid.." Kiki sits in front of Evi. 

"Yes there is." Evi calms down when Sonya smiles up to her. "What else did she leave?"

"Nothing." Kiki yawns

"Are you sure?" Evi looks at Kiki

"Yeah.. I searched through that blue bag.. It was soft but it didn't have anything in it except the crystals." Kiki looks up at Evi

"Are you sure?" Evi's tone is serious

Kiki blows hair out of her face and stands, walking over to the pillow fort, the only true continuity in this series 

She enters the fort and comes out a few moments later. "I swear I left it in there...."

"Did anyone move it?" Evi asks

"No.." The rest of the room answers

"I knew it!!" 

"People misplace stuff all the time, chill." Kiki exits the pillow fort. 

Evi blinks as if she's realized something and looks at Kanna

"What..?" Kanna blinks

"What did you do with the bag after you took the crystals..?" Evi asks

"I gave it to Thresh.." Kanna says

Evi looks to Thresh and he's immediately nervous, but less so than he usually would be. Somehow, with the adorable little girl sitting on her lap, Evi seemed less like a blood lusting demon, and more like a moral bodyguard who only wanted to protect the young child

"Where did you take it?" She asks Thresh. 

"I don't know..." He pauses as Evi looks at Sonya

Sonya throws a pinch of white powder at Thresh. 

It hits him in the face and he looks confused. "What was that for..?"

"Was there anything else in the bag when Kanna gave it to you?" Evi asks. 

"There was--" He looks confused. "Why can't  I say nothing..?"

"Because it's not true.. You can't remember there being anything else, but your subconscious knows." Evi looks around. "We need to find that bag...."

Thresh looks creeped out. "But I really don't remember there being anything else in there..."

"Kanna doesn't remember it either, but there clearly was something." 

Kiki starts searching. "I know it was in my fort!" 

"Someone moved it." 

"But we all said that we didn't touch i--" 

"And I believe you." Evi interrupts Mason. "None of you moved it."

Mason now looks just as creeped out as Thresh. "Are you saying there's someone else here...?"

"Maybe.." Evi shrugs. A loud thud comes from above us as a blue flash leaves the ceiling

We all look up to see the blue bag, sitting on the ceiling as if gravity was reversed

"Mason! What did you do?!" Kanna looks at him

"What do you mean?! I didn't do anything!" Mason looks at Kanna

"Yeah! Stop blaming him!" Firo glares a bit at Kanna

"But.. The energy was blue.. Neon electric blue." Kanna points up at the ceiling

"I could've moved it up there, yeah.. But I can't reverse gravity!" Mason looks up

"Okay... Now that  is enough to creep me out..." Kanna looks up

A teal energy surrounds the bag and Thresh looks confused. "It won't come down..." 

"Why not..?" Mason looks at Thresh

Thresh pauses for a few moments. "It's sewn to the ceiling.."

"How?!" Mason looks up. "How could anyone have the time to sew that to the ceiling while we were talking?!" 

Evi suddenly floats up and off of the couch, Sonya happily giggling as she's taken up with her.

Evi pauses for a few minutes. "Yeah.. He's right.. A thousand little clear threads sewn into the ceiling... It isn't even floating." She unties the black string keeping the bag sealed, and a piece of paper falls from it. The bag suddenly disappears, along with the clear string. 

"Weird.." Kiki laughs

Firo grabs the paper, and Mason calmly looks over her shoulder

"It's a map..." Firo blinks, and flips it over. "For your answers, follow the.." She skips the rest of the letter.  "It's addressed to....  Evelyn..? Who's Evelyn..?"

Evi quickly walks over and snatches the map from Firo. 

"Hey!" Mason glares at her

"Oh shut up, I didn't hurt your girlfriend." Evi rolls her eyes

Mason doesn't object to Firo being his girlfriend anymore, and neither does Firo. 

"Nothing?" Evi blinks in surprise and looks at the two of them. "Not even a glare or a 'don't assume that?'" She blinks. "Hold on the map can wait.. Are you.. Actually dating now..?" She asks

"Well.." Firo pauses. For some reason I feel like I missed something as the narrator. There is your fourth wall break, you're welcome. 

"No- you didn't miss anything, Kat." Mason looks at me. Apparently I was narrating out loud again

"Like we're going to invite you to a date so you can narrate.." Firo states. "That would just be weird."

Evi laughs slightly. "Knew you two had a thing for each other." This  earns her a glare, and she shrugs nonchalantly. Sonya is giggling from the demon's lap.

"More importantly.." She looks at the piece of paper. "This leads somewhere.. Out of town.." 

"Out of town..?" Thresh blinks. "Where..?"

"Doesn't matter.. None of you are coming.." She sets Sonya down on the couch and looks at Firo. "Watch her for me.." She waves and disappears 

Sonya pouts and rubs her eyes

"Sorry Sonya..." Kanna pats the child's head. 

"Honestly.. I'm glad to skip out on this adventure.." Thresh looks out the window

"But it's obvious what this is!!" Firo is impatient in her excitement. 

"What is it..?" Thresh looks at her

"She's a time traveler!" Firo grins happily

"I'm ninety nine percent certain that you're wrong." Thresh states. I tap his shoulder and point up at the title. 

"Wanna make it a bet?" Firo grins and looks out the window. "I say we go after her.." 

"Are you crazy?!" Kanna looks at her.

"Yes!" Firo picks a smiling Sonya up as we hear a motorcycle engine from outside. "Let's go!! It's a plot-filled trilogy of chapters and there is no way I'm missing it!" Sonya is happily laughing as Firo runs out of the room. "Maybe it'll even be a tetralogy!! The author had to look that up in order to write this joke!"

Mason sprints after her with a grin on his face

Kanna looks between me and Kiki. "Don't you dare even think about it..."

"Sorry Kanna!" I run out of the room grinning

"I'm not!!" Kiki grins and sprints out of the room, dragging Thresh behind her.

"Don't die!!" Kanna yells after us

"No promises!!" Firo laughs

No one saw the foreshadowing. Then again it was really limited.
