Episode 1-1/1-2 Red Midget Fury

(Once again, I apologized. I'm gonna start adding the short chapters together, but anyways enjoy!)

👁👄👁

The Ramshackle dorm was getting a bit chilly for me, tossing, and turning in my sleep. Slightly pulling the blanket to my face and hugging the pillows. Luckily I didn't kick Grim off the bed, he was sleeping on the right end and I was on the left.

"Mmm..." I frowned, rubbing my face against the pillow when I felt my head begin to hurt for a moment until a mirror appeared in my mind. Making the odd pain stopped as it started to glow.

....................................

'Hm? What am I seeing? Is this some kind of a dream?'

I see a garden with card soldiers painting the roses red.

"Hurry and paint the roses red!"

"Hurry before the flowers wither."

"Hurry, hurry! We have to paint them all red!"

'What?...paint the rose?'

Suddenly a young girl appeared dressed in blue approached the card soldiers.

"Why do you paint the white roses red?"

"Huh?"

"Why you ask? The truth is we made a mistake and grew white one."

"The Queen loves red. If she sees white she'll have our heads!"

The young girl in blue stood in front of a rose bush.

"Really?"

"That's right. Therefore we're painting the roses."

The card soldier told her.

Then the image faded into pitch darkness.

....................................

"Ahh....what the heck?" I mumbled, rubbing my head tiredly and sat up in the bed and looked around the room making sure I was still here. "Phew..."

'That was the weirdest sleep paralysis I ever experienced...'

"Hm?" I paused when I heard a sudden knock coming from the downstairs, it was loud enough to wake up Grim from his sleep.

"Munyaa...Hey, Freckles. Sounds like we have a late night visitor."

"Nah, it's probably those ghosts just messing with us..." I assumed, then we heard the knock again and both looked at each other.

"What? Is it those ghosts? They don't know when to quit."

"Grim chill, I'll go check and see." I said, tossing the blanket aside and leaving the room to go downstairs, with Grim following me. We went straight to the foyer and looked at the door.

I approached it and answered. "Who the fuck is it?"

"...Hey, relax...It's me, Ace. Let me in." I heard him from the door, and I opened it enough for me to peek through only to see his face.

"Nope." I said closing the door on him.

"Oh come on! It's cold outside!.." Ace shouted, Grim's ears perked up when he heard his voice and frowned.

"Ace? What is he doing here this late..." I shrugged, and opened the door. When Ace came in, he had a collar attached around his neck. Grim and I were both surprised. "...Gehgeh! You have a collar!!"

"What the fuck happened to you?" I asked him after closing the door. Ace turned to face us with a sour look on his face. He was pissed.

"I'm never going back to Heartslabyul. Starting today I'm joining your dorm!"

"What? Come again!" Grim exclaimed, I stood there blinking my eyes.

"Excuse me, what now?"

"You heard me." Ace said. "I'm joining your dorm from now on! I'm not going back there."

"Uh, let's talk this over at the lounge okay? I'm confused as fuck right now and I'm tired. So, let's get this over with." I said to him, Ace just nodded and followed me.

"Ignore the mess, I'm still cleaning it..." I said, pointing at the webs, dust and everything.

When we settled in the lounge, Grim sat with me on the sofa, Ace sat on the other one across from us.

"So, what's the big deal? You lost or something Ace?" I asked him, as Grim recognized the collar's design.

"Hey, that's the same collar that red-haired upperclassmen put on me during the entrance ceremony."

"Oh yeah, you're right." I said, recognizing it and looking back at him. "That's when you got thrown out, right?"

"Don't remind me!..." Grim snapped, almost making me fall off the sofa.

"Ah!!...Alright holy crap! Geeze, I didn't know you're that sensitive."

"I'm not sensitive! You're sensitive!" He pointed at me.

"I'm sensitive? You're the one who reacted so suddenly!" I shot back at the furball.

"Did not!"

"Did too."

"I did not!!"

"You did too!!"

Ace sat quietly on the sofa watching us argue back and forth, we both got sidetracked easily and continued to argue. Ace felt ignored and got annoyed by it and snapped.

"Will you two shut up and focus on me!" We both looked at him and sat back down on the sofa.

"Oh yeah, sorry. I forgot you're 'even' here." Ace shot me a glare, I ignored him and laid back with my arms behind my head.

"Whatever." Grim mumbled, and he looked at the collar around Ace's neck. "Why do you have something like that on?"

"I ate a tart." The only thing Ace said, crossing his arms.

"Just a tart?..." I blinked, and Ace nodded. "Yup, just a tart."

"Wait, hold up." I sat up and looked at him confused,  leaning in closer. "All this fuss is aboard a damn tart? Seriously dude? You wake us up for this shit? I'm going  back to bed, goodnight see your way out."

I got up and left the sofa and was about to head upstairs, but Ace got up quickly and grabbed my wrist stopping me from going further.

"Will you just hear me out! It's not like I wanted this to happen."

We both stared at each other for a minute before I shook my head tiredly. "Ah, fine...You're lucky I didn't punch you."

We both went back to the lounge and sat down at our spots, letting Ace continue. "Yeah...the tart. I was hungry when I got back to the dorm, so I checked the fridge and there were tarts chilling inside. Three whole tarts! So..."

After Ace explained his entire tart incident, Grim and I just sat in silence staring at him. Which, I'm starting to regret letting him inside the first place.

"Okay, you're both in the wrong." Grim said, breaking the awkward silence in the lounge.

"Isn't sealing my magic for stealing a bit of tart going too far!?" Ace said, raising his voice. "For a wizard it's like your arms and legs chained up. And there were three whole tarts! There's no way he can eat them by himself!"

"Well...People like to eat, I'm one of those people. This one time, I had three sandwiches to myself. Fat, right? But look, I'm still fit." I said, poking at my belly with my finger and I laughed.

"Maybe that's because you workout weirdo, and don't get sidetracked on me!" Ace frowned. " There's got to be a limit to how narrow minded you can be!"

"I'm not a wizard Ace, so I wouldn't understand how you feel." I said bluntly.

"What's with that lukewarm reaction!" Ace shouted at us. I looked over to Grim and leaned in by his ear and whispered.

"What is he tripping on about now?"

"Why are you whispering?!..." Grim shouted, as we both looked back at Ace.

"I can hear you, you know." He said, eyeing me as I backed away from Grim.

"Hey, could they have, by chance the three whole tarts could've been for some sort of a party? Someone's birthday, or something. I'm too good at deduction!"

"Birthday?" Ace scratches his head, I nodded.

"Explains why this dude's anger, Ace you mess yourself up."

"Uuuh...I totally thought you'd say he was being tyrannical, supervisor."

"Hey." I sat up from my seat and frowned at Ace. "Honestly Ace, you're being a baby, then again you're kinda right that he's being a tyrant...But eating his tart was uncool."

"Yeah!" Grim agreed, as he stood on the sofa. "You're at fault for stealing his tart in the first place."

"Yeah!" I shouted, agreeing with him. "The best way to fix this, you have to apologize to that dude whatever his name is."

"Mhm, grudging over food are the worst." I heard Grim say but he let out a sudden scream that made me turn to look back at him from the sofa. "Ah! Wait a second, I never got my tuna cans from the headmaster!"

"Really? I thought Dire Crowley gave you them already?" I said.

"No he didn't! That no good liar!"

Ace sighed, shaking his head slowly. "Fine. Whatever. I just have to apologize, right?"

"That's what we suggested, so yeah."

"Okay then...This is your idea, Supervisor, so you have to come with me." Ace said, looking directly at me.

"Why?...." I sighed. "I should've said anything..."

"I take that as a 'Yes'." Ace said as he examined the open space in the lounge. "So...Where should I sleep for tonight?"

"You're seriously staying the night?" Grim frowned, crossing his arms. "All the rooms but ours are still a mess. Clean a room for yourself."

"Bleh, I am not cleaning." Ace pouted.

"if you haven't noticed." I said, pointing at everything that is still dirty in front of us. "I still have a mess to clean, so don't ask me to clean a spare room for you. Got that?"

"No need Supervisor ~ Let me stay in your room. I'm slim so I won't take a lot of space. 'Kay." Ace said while getting up from the sofa, trying to charm his way in by giving me his flirtatious smile. I just crossed my arms rolling my eyes at him with disinterest.

"Fuck no." I said, immediately grabbing Ace by the shoulders. Forcing him to sit back down on the sofa. "You're sleeping here."

His smile dropped. "Tsk. Stringy. That's fine, I guess. I'll go sleep all by my lonesome on the lounge sofa. Goodnight!" Ace said as he lay down.

"Okay, goodnight." I said, going up the stairs with a straight face as Grim already beat me to the bedroom.

"You're so cold!.." Ace shouted. "You didn't bother giving me a warm blanket!"

"Stop your whining, here." I tossed him an extra blanket I found in one of the empty rooms. He sat up and caught it.

"Huh!? It's all dusty!...That's just great."

"What do you expect!? You got your blanket now, now sleep or I'll knock you out!" I shouted from the staircase and returned to my room slamming the door. Ace shook his head in disgust and covered himself with the blanket I gave him and lay back down.

"Tsk. A little gentleness would've been nice..." He mumbled before closing his eyes.

After returning to the room, Grim was already asleep at his usual spot on the bed. I smiled at how cute he looked curling up into a ball. I gently slid underneath the covers, closing my eyes.

"I wonder what will happen tomorrow." I said, slowly dozing to sleep
