Part 3- A Pathway
At 9:00 p.m., Roy was watching the news. Then, he heard a sudden noise. Roy soon realized that Ginger had gone out the pet flap, going over to the front door. When he opened the door, he noticed something new in his backyard: the glowing stringy objects. Also, they seemed to make up a trail, which Ginger was following.
"Ginger! Get back here! Now!" Roy called out.
The cat ignored him.
"She seems fixated on those damn things... but how do I get her back?"
Roy decided to get her himself. Grabbing a flashlight from the garage, he set out to find her.
The trail led into a heavily wooded part of the mountains. Roy felt a sense of dread overcome him as he ventured forward. What if something jumped out and attacked him or his cat? He then started to move forward more cautiously.
His fears came true when he shined his flashlight on a black bear roaming around. Immediately turning his flashlight off, he managed to take cover behind a large tree. Shit, what if the bear saw him?
Roy froze as he started to hear rustling noises behind him. If the bear started coming closer, he decided he had to play dead. Suddenly, without warning, the animal roared. Dropping to the ground, Roy lay still as a rock, hoping that the threat would pass.
After about five minutes, everything was quiet.
It was almost as if the bear got scared off by something- but what?
Roy then continued to follow the trail for what seemed like hours. The forest seemed to go on forever, yet he kept going. There seemed to be this force that motivated Roy, but he could not figure out what it was.
That force led him to the most shocking thing he had ever seen.
