Chapter 4-Monster Attack

Third person p.o.v.

Gladys ran through the narrow hallway, the foil like material of the floor crinkling every time she stepped on them. Aiden ran after her, his mouth wide open and his tongue lashing out at every opportunity to kill Gladys.

Tears dropped down Gladys's face, she was reminded by Aiden of Larry, the Impostor that killed her parents. Was she going down like her parents? "No." She told herself,"My parents wanted me to live, I can't die now." The thought fueled her with adrenaline, and she ran faster, away from the Impostor Aiden.

She finally reached Decontamination. She banged on the doors, before realizing that she had to push a button to open the doors. The doors opened with a hiss, and she ran inside, closing the doors behind her. Loud 'bang's were heard from the other side, but Gladys was mostly safe. Aiden couldn't get through... or could he?

With a final bang, Aiden knocked down the doors and rushed towards Gladys. Gladys screamed, but luckily for her, the doors on the other side opened. She ran outside and into Admin, immediately the smell of old paper met her. But that wasn't important right now. She almost tripped over some fallen books, but she kept running, until she reached the emergency button. Without hesitation, she pressed it.

A loud 'BEEP' issued across the planet. Gladys put her hands over her ears as it was really loud. Just then, Aiden charged inside the Office, his spear ready and pointing towards her. Aiden growled and ran towards her. Gladys screamed and dodged to a side. Aiden's spear hit the glass, and it shattered. Shards of broken glass fell upon Gladys head, and she raised her arms to shield herself from the shards of glass.

Aiden roared, angry that his spear missed his target. He slowly stepped towards Gladys and Gladys backed away with every step that he took, until she hit the wall. There was no place to escape now, was there?

Gladys's heart was hammering faster and faster, what could she possibly do to escape? "The crew will be here soon, but..." Gladys thought,"I'll be dead by then..." Aiden was getting closer and closer, the claws on his hand looking menacing.

She looked to the left and realized how she could escape from Aiden. Just when Aiden's sharp tongue lashed out, she rolled to the left, successfully dodging the attack. Aiden's tongue penetrated the thin wall and Aiden growled, obviously in pain. Gladys got up and ran for her life towards the exit.

Nexus was just taking out the trash in O2. Everything was going quite well, there was no Impostor attacks, and everything was quite peaceful, if you could call it peaceful. Mooni was doing tasks up above in the tree room, as they named it. Caylee was doing the wiring near the entrance.

Nexus finished pulling the lever and was just going to go to see Caylee and Mooni, when the lights went out. "W-What!" he heard Caylee yell. "Frick!" Mooni shrieked as well. Nexus ran up to both of his teammates, he couldn't see much, but he could still see the faint silhouettes of two people.

"Calm down, you guys." Nexus said in a calm voice. "We saw Electrical when we were passing through it, remember? We just gotta go to the electrical panel we saw and try to find out how to fix it. It's probably just the unstable electric supply."

Nexus waited for a response, but none came. Nexus guessed they nodded, but he couldn't see it. "Yeah, okay." Mooni eventually replied. "Great." Nexus said, and put his hand to the wall. "Put your hand to the wall and move slowly, until you sense no wall in front of you."

They did exactly that, moving slowly and keeping quiet, in case an Impostor heard them and thought they looked tasty. Eventually, they realized they had reached Electrical. They heard yells from near the vent so they cautiously walked over there. It was Ruth, Madeline, and Tsunami.

"Why did the lights go out?!" Madeline was freaking out, and Tsunami was trying to calm her down. "Calm down!" Ruth was looking around, trying to find some light. "Hey, you guys!" Nexus yelled. He could see better now, as the faint glow of the computer in Security was here. Ruth looked over and breathed,"Thank god you're here."

Nexus nodded at Ruth, glad that both teams were okay. "Hey, I found the electrical panel." Caylee shouted, she was standing near the exit, in the doorway to another room. They rushed over and found themselves outside, snow still drifting softly down. Four thick columns surrounded them, each with antennas on top of them, electricity crackling around them. The blue electricity gave off more light.

Caylee and Nexus rushed towards the electrical panel, prying it open. They realized fixing it was quite simple, just flicking on all the switches. "It's too easy..." Nexus was suspicious of it, something was wrong."Something is wrong about this." But he decided to shake the feeling off.

Soon, they fixed the lights. Just then, they heard a loud 'BEEP' across the planet. They looked at each other in alarm. Madeline, Ruth, Tsunami and Mooni rushed over, knowing that it was the emergency button. "Someone's in trouble." Madeline said in a low voice.

The team didn't hesitate anymore, running out of Electrical and towards the direction of Office. Whoever was in trouble needed their help, when they finally got there, they saw Gladys and a monstrous figure looming over her.

Nexus ran to the monster, pulling out his two knifes. He was fully prepared to strike the monster in the chest, but he stopped when he recognized a familiar face. "Aiden?" He asked, clearly confused. He was so stunned, he didn't notice Aiden swiping at his face. "CAREFUL!" Somebody yelled, and tackled Nexus away from the beast. It was Jessica, coming to the rescue.

"Wait, Aiden..." Nexus stammered. The rest of the crew was already taking out their knifes and weapons, ready for a fight. Gladys rushed over to Nexus and Jessica and helped them up. "Long story." She said breathlessly. For some reason, she had tears in her eyes.

"Okay." Nexus decided it wasn't the time for questions. Why Aiden was an Impostor, he had no idea. But he was clearly on the bad side, so they had to take him out. Caylee tried to bonk Aiden on the head, but the Impostor dodged it and grabbed her. "AHH!" Caylee yelled, trying to free herself.

"HEY!" Lily yelled, running from Lab. She threw her knife but it missed. It did distract Aiden though, and he turned to her, growling. Lily gulped and dodged the first attack. Aiden laughed manically as he tried to kill Lily.

Lily barely missed the next attack, and Sunni ran up, waving her wrench. They hit Aiden's arm, and Aiden roared in pain, dropping Caylee.

"Ugh!" Caylee rolled to a side and got to her feet. Mooni and Nexus ran up, grabbing their weapons. Nexus jabbed at Aiden, but he deflected Nexus's blade with his sharp claws. Mooni tried to cut Aiden, but he grabbed their makeshift club and threw it to a side.

Ruth and Madeline ran up to Aiden side by side, and managed to get a few hits on him. Madeline sliced her knife across Aiden's torso, but the six feet Impostor grabbed her and threw her to a side. Ruth gasped and immediately went over to help her friend.

"Are you okay?" Ruth asked, but Madeline was unconscious. Blood trickled out of her mouth."Crap." Ruth said to herself, and Tsunami ran over. "I'll help you, move her to Medbay, I'm pretty sure there are beds there." The two grabbed Madeline and hoisted her up, heading towards the direction of Medbay.

Nexus gritted his teeth. Aiden was too strong. Several people were already disarmed, such as Mooni and Lily. Auburn tried to help, but Aiden ducked and pushed her away. "Ouch!" Auburn yelled, landing on the floor hard, her knife falling out of her hand.

Jessica yelled to Nexus and Gladys,"Distract him and I'll go for the kill." Aiden growled at the word 'kill', but the plan was already in motion. "Hey, Aiden!" Nexus yelled, waving his knifes in the moonlight. "Over here!" Gladys shouted as Aiden charged at Nexus.

Aiden was confused, and roared. He picked up Auburn's knife and threw it at Nexus. Nexus jumped to a side and missed the blade, but Aiden was already running at Gladys, his claws ready.

Gladys parried the first attack, but was no match for Aiden's strength. He yanked the knife out of her hands and back-handed her, slamming her into Storage's wall.

"Oh my god!" Auburn gasped. Despite her injuries, she rushed over to Gladys's body, so did Sunni. Gladys was unconscious like Madeline. "You guys get her to Medbay, we'll take care of Aiden." Jessica shouted, before jumping on top of the big rock.

While Auburn and Sunni were bringing Gladys to Medbay, Jessica, Nexus and Lily were trying their best to kill Aiden. Nexus kept distracting Aiden, while Lily and Jessica hammered on him. Jessica swung her knife at Aiden, and Lily hit him with the flat of her blade.

With the three of them working together, Aiden stood less chance. Aiden kept trying to hit them, but the three of them were fast and agile. They dodged, feinted, and finally, Jessica jumped onto Aiden's torso and drove her blade through his chest.

Aiden gave a final roar before he crumpled to a heap. The three panted and sat down on the floor. They had defeated Aiden. But they knew that this wouldn't be their only challenge. Polus had lots more in store for them.

Gladys slowly opened her eyes, feeling like she had just been whacked on the head. (Which, technically, yes, she did get whacked on the head-) A bright light shone down on her, and she thought for a split second that she was in heaven.

Apparently not. The world slowly came back into focus, and she could see that she was lying on one of the beds in Medbay. She sat up, struggling as her whole body still felt weak. She saw a white-ish blond haired girl nearby, working on something. "He-hey." She croaked.

The girl turned around, and Gladys recognized it was Auburn. "Oh, thank god you're awake. Do you remember anything?"Auburn asked kindly. "K-kinda." Gladys replied, her head still feeling dizzy. "Here, drink some water." Auburn handed her a plastic cup full of water.

Gladys drank it, immediately feeling better, her thoughts clearer. She looked around. She noticed Madeline lying on one of the other beds. "Yeah... she's still not awake." Auburn said awkwardly.

"H-how's Aiden?" Gladys asked suddenly. She remembered him turning into a Impostor, and thought the crew had somehow managed to turn him back into a crewmate. "Hate to break it to you... but..." Auburn said,"He's... dead. They killed him."

Gladys was stunned for a few seconds, then the harsh reality slammed into her. "He-he's dead?" "He's dead." Auburn said sadly. Gladys's heartbeat increased, tears once again coming to her eyes. "Hey." Auburn sat closer to her, handing her a tissue. "It's not your fault. He was turned into an Impostor, and he would've killed us."

"That's exactly why." Gladys said through sobs,"He saved me from the Specimen jar, it was falling, and he saved me, and n-now he's.. he's.." Gladys couldn't quite bring herself to say the word 'dead', but Auburn understood as much.

"You didn't force him." Auburn consoled her, "He saved your life, then you should treasure it, right? Stop crying, and get us off the planet. Aiden wanted you to live and survive this hard time, so you should live, right?"

Gladys nodded slowly, wiping her tears on her sleeve. So many people had already sacrificed their lives for her to be sitting where she was now. "Yeah." Gladys nodded, and then she said,"I'll give him a proper burial."

"Um... About that... they're planning to throw him in the lava?" Auburn said awkwardly again.  "WHAT?!" Gladys jumped up and looked at Auburn,"Just like that?" "Well, they thought it was easier to dispose of the body like that."

Gladys grabbed her knife which was lying on the table nearby. Then, she ran out of Lab as fast as she could, determined to reach the group. When she finally reached the Lava Pit, whom the location she had already memorized a long time ago, she was panting and out of breath. Despite that, she yelled out to the crew,"No! Don't throw him in the lava, please!" She bent down, trying to catch her breath.

Caylee, Ruth, and Tsunami were holding the body of Aiden, prepared to throw it in the lava. "W-what?" Ruth asked,"What could you possibly do with a dead body of an Impostor?" "He's not an Impostor." Gladys glared up, her eyes full of determination and rage. "He's a crewmate, and I want to give him a proper burial." She said.

Caylee eyed her weirdly,"Look, I know you treasure this guy but-" "I'M GIVING HIM A BURIAL!" Gladys shouted. Everyone was stunned by the outburst. "Hey, do what you want." Jessica said unexpectedly. "Just leave her be. Let her do the burial or whatever."

The three looked at each other, and set the body down gently. "H-hey. I brought you a shovel from Storage... thought you might need it." Auburn stepped out from behind Gladys, and gave her the shovel. "Wait, she's actually doing this?" Lily asked in disbelief. "The ground here is literally as hard as-" Sunni elbowed Lily, and Lily glared at Sunni.

Gladys didn't seem to have took notice of the crewmates bickering, instead she was fully focused on the task in front of her. She was shoveling away the snow, layer by layer. "Let's go." Nexus said quietly," She won't budge. Let's go back to Dropship and figure out how we're going to pass the night." Lily gave one more glare at Gladys, and nodded.

The rest of the crew grudgingly followed Nexus back to the Dropship. Sunni took one last look at Gladys, and decided she would go help her. She told Caylee and quickly ran off to Electrical. Last she saw, there was a shovel there.

Sunni came back with a shovel in her hands. She approached Gladys, who was hitting the shovel onto the ground furiously, trying to break open the rocky surface, her attempt's failing miserably. Sunni could see the tears threatening to spill.

Sunni had never been the social type, but she couldn't just leave her here to dig a literal grave by herself. She understood Gladys's determination, she would be angry too if one of her family died and people didn't give them a burial.

She silently came over,"Hey, you need help?" The twelve year old girl looked up, and Sunni thought she saw a ghost of a smile on her face. "Okay, I guess.""Let's chip away at the cracks, dig them up and slowly work our way down." Sunni said, and Gladys started doing just that.

Two hours later, after much sweat and tiredness, they finally finished digging the grave. "You think it's big enough?" Gladys asked Sunni. "Probably, yeah." They hoisted Aiden's slimy body and gently set it down into the hole. Gladys wiped away a tear, and Sunni put a hand on her shoulder to console her.

She took a deep breath, and started putting rubble back on top of the body. Sunni followed suit and started shoveling rubble and dirt. After five minutes, Aiden was fully buried. "Come on, let's get back to Dropship." Sunni told Gladys, and they headed back to Dropship together.

The two walked back to Dropship, Caylee handed them blankets cut from the curtains in Medbay and a plastic cup full of water. She also told them that they had saved four slices of pizza for the two of them. The others were asleep or sitting nearby chatting, all looking down and miserable, except maybe Tsunami.

"You know, you should really cheer up! Can we be friends?" Tsunami was asking Madeline, with a smile on her face. "She's so cheerful for a person stuck on Polus..." Ruth leaned over and said suspiciously.

Gladys said nothing and just munched on her pizza, too tired and overwhelmed with today's events that she didn't bother to answer. The noise in the Dropship slowly died down, everyone falling asleep or just didn't bother to talk at all.

~

After a little while...( because I don't know how to transition)

~

Everyone was mostly fast asleep. Except for maybe one.

Caylee sat up, rubbing her eyes. She had been trying to sleep for one hour or so already, but she was restless, tossing and turning. The hard floor and thin blanket didn't help with the cold. "I guess I'll just stay up and guard the crew." She couldn't believe that they had the strength the push the escape pods to make a barricade but forgot the most basic defense: Get someone to stay up and guard them.

She sighed and walked to the front of the ship, grabbing her crowbar. Looking at the black sky, she tried to spot even one star in the black space, but she didn't see nothing white or shiny except for the falling snow. She sat down slowly, staring at the distance.

She tried to remember what had caused her to land on this dreadful planet. Her parents had given their lives for her... to what? Land here? Which was pretty much a death trip. Even though she didn't show it or speak about it, she was terrified about Polus. She was pretty sure most of the crew was too, but they were putting up defenses and trying not to show it.

She sighed again. Suddenly, a voice startled her,"What are you doing up?" She turned her head, whipping out their crowbar. When she realized it was Mooni, she lowered her weapon. "What are YOU doing up?" Caylee asked them.

"You first." Mooni insisted stubbornly. "Fine. I couldn't sleep." Caylee answered,"So I guess I volunteered for guard duty." "Well, that's weird." Mooni shrugged,"I was hungry, took me a couple minutes to fully awake, and now I'm looking for food. Figured I could get them from the escape pods."

"Will you let me through?" Mooni asked. "Absolutely not!" Caylee said,"These rations need to last. Two boxes have already been eaten." Caylee held up her hands. Mooni groaned,"You guys are always so stubborn..."

They sighed and sat next to Caylee. "Aren't you going back to sleep?" Caylee asked skeptically at them. "If I'm hungry, I definitely can't sleep." Mooni replied, looking at Caylee. "Please?"

"No." Caylee said. Mooni threw her hands up,"You guys are always forbidding me from doing my favorite things." Caylee didn't answer and looked back to the sky. She wasn't the best with people, she didn't know if she could stand one more minute with Mooni. Sometimes they just... were a little too annoying.

"Are you scared?" Mooni suddenly asked Caylee. "W-What? Scared of what?" Caylee was taken aback by the question. "Of being stranded on Polus." Mooni replied.

"Why would you ask that?" Caylee asked Mooni, a little suspicious. "I don't know, I feel like that's probably the line to get you talking. You seem scared." "Are you scared then?" Caylee responded. "I don't know how I feel, to be honest. It's just a mix of feelings. I feel angry, mostly. But there are other feelings..." Mooni ranted.

"I feel you." Caylee blurted out. "This is just such a big... thing to happen, so unexpected and everything. My loved ones are gone... now we're stuck here with cannibalistic Impostors." Mooni sighed,"I'm only twelve..."

The two stared at the night sky for a little while, both not knowing what to say. Caylee had just revealed her true feelings about this place to someone that she didn't know much about and probably didn't trust. But then again, Mooni didn't seem betraying or not loyal at all, just confused and worried about the situation.

"I should probably get back to sleep." Mooni rose, heading back. "Wait, didn't you say..." Caylee started, but Mooni looked back with a hopeful expression. Caylee narrowed her eyes. "Please?" Mooni repeated. "No." Caylee responded.

"Fine." Mooni pouted and lied down, her back to Caylee.

Caylee waited until she was certain that Mooni was asleep, then a small smile creeped onto her face. Maybe she would enjoy Mooni's company after all...

I. Need. To. Stop.

3378 words, I seriously need to re-consider life choices...

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, added a little bit of *action* in within, and a LOT more friendship drama. Obviously Caylee, Mooni, and Nexus are going to be in a trio, and I'm planning on making a scene where Madeline and Tsunami become friends. Anyways, from now on, you need to pay close attention to what everyone says and does, because any of them could be the Impostor...

DUN Dun dUn-

QOTD: What is your favorite country?

Mine is China, I like it because of the tigers and pandas, don't judge me-

Also, I'm trying to update at least once every week, but it'll be hard. Keep checking, I'll probably follow my schedule if I can.

EDIT: For the earlier scene where Madeline is unconscious, let's just say she awoke later on and got back to Dropship. I forgot to mention this.
