Chapter Three

Reanna finally made it to the place where the smoke was coming from. It was a little cave. She went in, immediately seeing the little campfire in the middle. She walked up to it, amazed. In Girl Scouts they hadn't gotten to the part where they actually got to light the fire, but they had learned how to, and this one was made perfectly. She eyed it up and down, then stood up again.

"You know, it's impolite to intrude on other's property," a voice said behind her. Reanna whirled, and saw a girl with long, blond hair, like her own. She had piercing blue eyes, and rosy cheeks. In other words she looked exactly like Reanna, but a little shorter. Reanna gaped at the girl who was crossing her arms, and tapping her foot. "Why are you here?" She demanded. Reanna closed her mouth, and replied, "My plane crashed, then blew up. Then I saw the smoke, and here I am." Reanna explained, leaving out all the painful details. The girl nodded thoughtfully. "So that was the loud noise that woke me up! Nice to know," she said.

"What's your name?" the girl asked.

"Reanna."

"And your last name?" she asked impatiently.

"Johnson."

The girl's eyes widened. "That's my last name, too. Cool! " Reanna nodded slightly. She wondered who this girl was, and what she was doing here. "What's your name?" She asked.

"My name's Macey. Macey Kathryn Johnson," she said proudly. "I was given it by my parents..." Her voice trailed off.

"What?" Reanna asked, confused.

Macey's eyes filled with tears, and her cheeks started to get the burning feeling you get when you cry. "My parents died in a plane crash. The same plane crash that landed me in this stupid, miserable place."

Reanna just stood there awkwardly for a moment, then put her hand around Macey, tears filling her eyes for what seemed the millionth time that day. They just stood in that position for a while, each mourning for different reasons. Then Macey pulled away from Reanna, and wiped away her tears.

"Let's get some food," she said. "I know that we're both hungry? What would you like?" She asked Reanna. Reanna shrugged, then asked, "Well, what do you have?"

"Bird, bunny, and deer jerky," Macey proclaimed.

Reanna cringed, then reached for her bags. She unzipped it, then pulled out two hamburgers, two packets of fries, and ziploc baggies of some juicy, purple grapes. Macey's eyes widened, then Macey licked her lips, hunger sparking in her eyes. "Is that...McDonald's?" she asked.

"Yep," Reanna exclaimed triumphantly. "Well," she thought for a moment. "Not the grapes, but the hamburgers and fries, yes."

Macey shrugged. "That's good enough for me," she said, and reached for the food. Reanna smiled, the smile you would make when you were at Disneyland eating a steaming hot cinnamon churro. It warmed Macey right to the tip of her toes. She was really glad she had company, especially such friendly and compassionate company.
