Chapter Three: Meeting Harry

Mark gripped onto Louis, sobbing into his shoulder. Louis was crying too.

He had spent all yesterday with Mark and his family. He'd said goodbye to his sister and mum that morning but Mark was coming with him to the school and leaving once Louis had gotten there safely.

Now, they were outside the school and Louis really didn't want to go. He was almost tempted to go back with Mark to the house. But he knew he couldn't.

"You have to make sure to ring whenever you can, Skype, text, anything. I'll be down to visit most weekends. So only five days"

Mark continued to rambling until Louis shut him up by pulling back and giving him a look. It wasn't as effective because he was crying but Mark got the message and shut up.

Mark shoved the latest copy the house magazine in Louis' hand. "Keep it. The guys asked me to give it to you"

Louis nodded and hugged Mark once again.

"Lou, try and talk to people"

"I'll try..." Louis trailed off.

Mark kissed Louis' cheeks before hugging him very tightly AGAIN. "I love you man"

"Love you too Marko"

"Polo"

Mark smiled and waved as Louis slowly walked up the pathway to the giant school.

Tears continued to pour down both their faces until Louis turned and wiped his face, yanking open the door and shuffling into the reception.

"Hi" He mumbled the word once he was at the desk.

The old lady sitting behind the desk looked up within seconds, a large smile on her face. She was kind of overweight and her hair was bright red. She was pale, wrinkles covering her face and arms. She had brown blotches on her arms like people her age seems to. Louis thought she seemed like a very stereotypical receptionist.

"Oh! You're the new boy!"

"Umm, yeah..." He nodded, wondering why she was so happy to see him.

"Ooh, Ms. A will be pleased" The receptionist seemed to be checking him. Louis wrinkled his nose slightly but smooth out his expression when the red head looked up.

"Ms. A?" Louis questioned, blushing because he voice had shook. See, he told his mum, he wasn't good with new people.

"Oh! She's the headmistress!" The lady nodded.

Louis was slightly creeped out, why would the head teacher be pleased? He didn't reply, just focused on hiding his disgust.

The receptionist launched into explaining things to Louis, handing him maps, a schedule, a room key and a bag which contained two sets of school uniform which his mother had ordered.

"You get today off lessons to settle in" Louis nodded, as he had been to everything she said that didn't require an answer from him. "I'll take you to your room now"

She lead him through a maze of hallways but Louis followed wordless, not even trying to remember how many lefts he'd took. He simple flipped through the magazine until he found an article Mark had written about life in the house.

More tears fell down Louis' face as he read what Mark had written about Louis always being shy but kind to everyone.

"Here we are- Oh! What's that?"

Louis held the magazine to his chest protectively. The lady, whose name was Liz, gave him an odd look. "I-It's a erm, keepsake from my best friend..."

She nodded and then pointed to door 341. "This is you're room"

Louis opened the door and walked in. He put his things on one of the beds. It took him a moment to realise that half the room was filled with someone's things. "Umm..."

"You'll be sharing with another student. He may not be too pleased at first but I'm sure he'll warm up to you Louis" Liz left before Louis could say anything else.

He shrugged, he couldn't say he was sad she left.

Although he was worried about what she said. Sid this mean his roommate was a mean person? Was he selfish? Those thoughts lead Louis to wonder why his roommate was in this school. Was he simple a spoiled brat or was he something worse, violent maybe? Louis hoped he was a nice person.

He got started on unpacking, deciding to take a shower after so he'd smell nice when he met his roommate. If he was a tough one to please then Louis needed to make a good first impression.

*

Sighing, Louis ran his fingers through his hair and held the towel closer to him.

He thought it would be a good idea to take a shower so he didn't smell when he met his roommate but now he was just ready to crawl into bed.

Louis pulled on his underwear then realised that he didn't bring any pyjamas into the bathroom. Not that he's ever used them.

Oh well, his roommate will have to deal with it. Louis was shy, yes, but she wasn't shy when it came to his body. In fact, he was confident with the way he looked. But then again after his previous career he would be.

He chuckled to himself, then shook his head and swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat. He promised he wouldn't cry again.

To distract himself, Louis walked out of the room to go find his books. He never had time to read before, that was the only advantage to quitting his job.

Grumbling and looking at the floor Louis shuffled to his suitcase and took out one of the books. He went to slam the suitcase closed when he realised that the latest house magazine wasn't in the case.

"Shit!"

He tipped over the suitcase, pouring out the ten books he had with him. It wasn't on the bed. Louis dropped to his knees and looked under the bed to see if it had fell, as some of the books had.

He didn't see the magazine anywhere.

"No, no, no, no, no"

Louis went back to the bathroom to check, even though he knew he had put it in the suitcase. After glancing around the small bathroom Louis turned to go check his suitcase again.

That was when he saw the curly haired boy sitting in the desk chair and flipping through Louis' magazine. Louis froze, the same way he did last time he saw someone with the magazine.

The boy spun round in the chair so he was facing Louis. He had a smirk on his face as he read the words on the page. Louis had to admit that the boy was rather attractive. Louis liked his long legs. The boy looked up to Louis and then closed the magazine and looked at the front cover.

"Is that-"

"Yes" Louis walked across the room and snatched the magazine. His cheeks were on fire as he looked down at the floor and shoved the magazine into his suitcase.

He then started to put all his books back into the case so he didn't have to look at the boy who he assumed was his roommate.

"You're not what I expected" The boy said.

Louis simply nodded. He wasn't sure what the boy meant by it.

"You don't talk much" The voice was right beside him.

Louis jumped, dropping two books on the floor. After picking them up he looked to the boy and shrugged. The boys eyes narrowed.

"Are you scared of me? Did Liz tell you I was a hand full?"

"No. W-well yeah she did but I'm not scared..." Louis looked down at the floor once again. He had a feeling he'd be seeing that shade of blue a lot.

"Then what? Are you attracted to me?"

Louis head snapped up at that. He shook his head quickly. "No!" Then he felt guilty "I'm sorry.. I didn't that you're not... Cause you are. I guess. I just don't know you so I can't. And don't"

The boy started laughing.

"Calm down. I was joking"

Louis smiled, he was glad his roommate was nice. Liz was a liar.

"Oh, nice boxers" The boy winked. Louis looked down at himself and smiled.

"Thanks"

The boy gave him an odd look, as if he couldn't understand the way Louis reacts. He probably doesn't, Louis realised.

The boy shook his head and offered his hand. "I'm Harry by the way"

"Louis"

Harry nodded and then jumped onto his bed, he picked up his notebook from his bedside table and started to write. Louis left him to it and finished putting all the books back into his suitcase before putting the case on the floor and pushing it under the bed using his foot.

He picked up his phone and saw he had three messages from Mark and one from Lottie. He went to reply but his phone started to ring in the middle of his typing. His ringtone, Same Love, filled the air and Mark's picture and name flashed on the screen.

Louis rolled his eyes and answered the phone.

"You worry about me too much"

"Can't help it, you're so socially awkward I fear you may kill your room mate when you meet him. Do you have a room mate? Is he hot?"

"So you don't even wait for me to tell you if I'm sharing a room? You just jump straight to is he hot? You disgust me" Louis made a forced disgusted noise.

"I AM HOT!" Harry shouted, so Mark would hear.

Louis gave him one of those 'seriously' looks. Harry shrugged and went back to writing.

Mark started laughing down the phone.

"Shut up" Louis huffed.

"You best not replace me" Mark suddenly stated, his laughter being cut off as his tone grew serious.

"Woah, possessive"

"Seriously Lou, I don't to visit and find out you have a new best friend"

"I won't. I'm too socially awkward, remember?"

"Oh.. Good point. I don't need to worry"  Mark chuckled again

"Ha ha ha"

"I'm glad you liked my joke" Louis could picture Mark sitting in front of his computer, grinning like he just won a prize for being the most handsome and talented writer ever.

"I hate you sometimes" Louis started to pick at his bed sheet, trying to ignore the fact he missed his best friend more then anything at this very moment.

"As long as love me most of the time"

"Mark, don't quit your job"

"What?" Mark sounded confused

"Because your- Ugh, never mind. You're an idiot" Louis shook his head, laughing to himself.

"Okay then Louis, try not to stab your room mate. I gotta go, articles need to be written"

"Bye"

"See ya"

The phone beeped to signal that Mark had hung up. Louis put his phone on the bedside table and lay down on his bed.

"Girlfriend?" Harry asked, glancing over at Louis.

"Um, no. It was my friend"

"Do you like her?" Harry started to tap his pencil against his notebook.

Louis sat up. "It was a guy"

Harry rose an eyebrow. "Oh. 'Cause from what I could hear, from your side, it sounded like you were talking to a needy girlfriend. Is he your boyfriend?"

"You ask a lot of questions" Louis frowned, propping himself up on his elbows to face Harry while they were speaking.

"Is that a yes?"

Louis wasn't really comfortable with all the questions, he barely knew this guy for petes sake.

"No. He's just a friend" Louis looked away as Harry went to meet his eyes.

"I think he likes you, sounded like he was jealous you've got a" Harry gestured to his body "very hot room mate"

"Well... he was worried that I would replace him"

"Oh, honey, is that your way of asking me out?" Harry put a hand to his chest.

Louis chuckled and shook his head, his cheeks heating up. The word 'sorry, not my type' were on the tip on Louis' tongue but he swallowed the words when he realised how far from the truth that statement was.

Harry was kind, tall, good looking. He had nice hair and eyes. Louis bet he could cook to too. The only thing Harry didn't have was dimples.

Louis looked up to see Harry smiling, a dimple showing from one side of his face.

Louis shook his head. He couldn't start thinking of his room mate that way.

Harry looked back to his notebook then, a smile still on his lips. Louis lay back down on the bed and picked up his phone once again.

He looked at the message from Lottie.

Lottie: How's the school?

Louis quickly typed a reply.

Louis: It's fine.

Lottie: Any cute boys?

Louis: Not you too, please!

Lottie: What?

Louis: Mark's been asking me about my room mate already.

Lottie: I'm going to ignore the fact you spoke to Mark before your own sister because I want to hear about you room mate. Is he hot?

Louis: That's exactly what Mark said.

Lottie: You're avoiding the question. Is he hot?

Louis: Why are you forever trying to set me up with guys?

Lottie: Still avoiding it. Is he hot?

Lottie: Is he hot?

Lottie: Is he hot?

Lottie: Is he hot?

Lottie: Is he hot?

Lottie: Is he hot?

Lottie: Is he hot?

Lottie: Is he hot?

Louis: JESUS WOMAN STOP SPAMMING MY INBOX!

Lottie: Is he hot?

Lottie Sorry, sent so many it took a moment to send. So.. Is he hot?

Louis: Yes. Happy now?

Lottie: No, I want details Louis.

Louis: Tall, curly hair, dimples.

Lottie: You are terrible at this when it's about your life. Seriously, I spoke for like half an hour about Danny.

Louis: It was more like an hour but whatever.

Lottie: I'm going. You would make a horrid woman to gossip to.

Louis: I'll take that as a compliment.

Lottie didn't reply after that.

*

Louis blinked, opening his eyes and slamming his hand down on his alarm clock. He sat up and stretched out his arms and fingers. His back clicked and he slumped down, feeling better. Until he realise that he had to go to a lesson because he was back at school.

He groaned and looked at the schedule he pinned to his wall. First lesson, English.

Louis sighed, more because he had to interact with people then the fact he had to go and learn things.

Louis stood and walked over to his draws. He pulled out underwear and his uniform. He glanced at Harry, making sure he was asleep before quickly changing his underwear.

He then pulled on his uniform and checked the time. He had an half an hour before lessons. He briefly considered going down for breakfast in the café but quickly decided against it. He didn't want to be sat all by himself.

Then again, he thought, he can just bring it up to his room.

Nodding to himself Louis grabbed his wallet and left the room. He stood outside the door for a moment then realised he didn't now the way.

A boy walked past and Louis was about to ask for directions when he saw the expression on the boys face. He was looking at Louis as if he was shit on the bottom of his shoe. Louis frowned, why would anyone look at him like that?

"Slut" The boy muttered as he pasted Louis.

"I heard that" Louis mumbled.

"You were supposed to"

Louis went bright red, he hadn't meant for the boy to hear him.

"W-why?"

"Anyone one who sleeps with Styles deserves to know their a slut" The boy had stopped walking now.

"Styles? Oh, Harry. I didn't sleep with him... I'm his room mate"

"Yeah, right" The boy snorted. "Harry doesn't have room mate, his parents pay so he doesn't get paired up with anyone"

The boy walked away before Louis could say anything again. Louis shook his head and went back into the room, giving up on the idea of finding the café.

He sat on the bed and looked over his map, finding the rooms for his lessons.

"I'm so getting lost"

"What?" Harry's voice was thick with sleep.

Louis looked up at the boy on the other bed. "Oh, just saying I'm going to get lost in this school"

"What you got first?" Harry sat up in the bed, glancing at his alarm clock.

"English in..." Louis checked his schedule "546"

"Oh. I'm in that class, I'll take you"

"Thanks"

"No problem" Harry smiled and stretched much the same way Louis had.

Harry then threw off his cover and walked towards the bathroom.

Louis started to choke on the air around him.

"What? I'm sure you've seen a naked man before" Harry winked and entered the bathroom.
