» Volume 2
Next thing Frankie knows, they're all in some sort of conference room. Photos are spread out all across the lengthy table, presenting the map from the Byers' house.
"Do you recognize anything?" She whispers to Will, causing him to flinch.
He still can't seem to recognize her, but feels like something about her is important. Why can't he just remember what it is?
"Are you Mike's girlfriend?" He responds, dodging her question.
The two ex-enemies look at each other in pure disgust.
"No! No, oh my god!" Mike dramatically denies, his face coated a deep blush.
Frankie vigorously shakes her head, also mumbling a series of no's.
"More like your girlfriend," she responds. "Well, we kissed, you never really asked me to be."
His heart thumps loudly in his chest at her words. He almost remembers something. Before he can think further into, multiple scientists along with Joyce, Hopper, and Bob walk in.
"Hey, Will," Dr. Owens enthusiastically greets. "We got these pictures here as soon as possible, and we need you to try your hardest to tell us where exactly you need us to go."
Will nods, and Frankie jumps away from him the second the adults walk in.
The small boy then proceeds to scan the pictures on the table.
"Sam, this is ludicrous," an unwilling doctor insists.
"Just give him a moment, okay?" Owens insists.
"We don't have time—"
"Hey, jackass, why don't you do us all a favor and shut up, okay?" Hopper interrupts, forcing silence back into the air.
Will stands up, moving along the table in search of something specific. Finally, he spots what he's looking for and points to the center of multiple connecting vines.
"That's it," he mutters.
"That's what? What's....what's there, Will?" Owens questions.
"I don't know," he admits. "I just know he doesn't want me to see there. I think it's important."
From there, they're all escorted back, and half way to the room, Alex appears in a spirit form.
"You have to go! You have to get out! It's a trap, he trapped you!" The spirit frantically shouts.
Frankie stops walking, the guards stop walking behind her, shoving her forward a bit— unable to see the spirit.
"Move along, kid," one says.
Mike turns back to face her, noticing her suddenly pale complexion.
"No!" She immediately shouts, "no, you don't understand! We have to leave! We have to go! Something— S-Something's coming!"
Mike's eyes widen at her sudden outbursts. The guards move towards her in an attempt to secure her, but she begins screaming and kicking like the world is about to end.
"FRANKIE!" He immediately calls, "calm down! We're gonna be fine!"
Although he doesn't know that for a fact, her commotion is starting to rally up multiple officers. As another few guards show up, he moves toward her only to be stopped and pulled back by a guard.
"We'll handle her, just keep moving to the room," he commands, pushing the boy back.
This infuriates Mike, driving him into a sort of panic like state as he tries to push towards Frankie.
"NO! Just let me— LET ME GO, JUST LET ME TALK TO HER!" He shouts, trying desperately to get to his friend despite the restraint.
Eventually, a doctor is forced to penetrate the girl with a needle, sending the frail girl into a sleep like state.
"FRANKIE? FRANKIE! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU BASTARDS DO?!" Mike shouts, watching as they carelessly through the limp girl over their shoulder.
Hopper helps to pull Mike into the room, and Will watches in anticipation.
"Mike— MIKE, calm down," Hopper shouts, grabbing the boy by his shoulders and holding him still.
"No! No! She can't be left alone in this place!" Mike argues, "where did they take her? WHERE?"
"Just calm down, kid. She's fine," The man reassures with a firm tone. "They just gave her a small tranquilizer shot. They're bringing her right back."
Just as he says this, the doors open and in comes a guard with the sleeping girl.
Mike glares and watches as he sets her in a chair. A doctor walks in next, supplies in hand.
"She's fine. Waft this over her nose if you want to wake her up," he holds a cotton ball and some sort of liquid up, "although I think it's best to let her sleep it off. She could wake up feeling extremely sick if woken too soon."
With that, the doctor leaves and Mike rushes to the girls side, going to get the cotton ball and liquid.
"Hey, mike? I think you should let her sleep this off for a bit. She's fine, and if we woke her up now, she'd just be confused and more panicked," Joyce tries. "You think we could just let her sleep? It's what's best for her."
He stares at the medical supplies in deep thought before gently setting it down.
Then, he sits beside her on her chair, and glances to poor little terrified Will.
"W-What happened to her? Is she okay?" Will nervously stammers.
"She's okay," Mike softly mutters. "She's just scared."
Will looks almost hurt by this, and not even he understands why.
"Scared? Of me?" He wonders.
Mike immediately shakes his head, noticing his friend's disappointment.
"No no," he shakes his head, "not of you."
Only, she is afraid of him.
