The teens rushed the girl into the house as fast as possible, missing the fact that the Hargrove boy was gone when they came in.
"What the hell do we do?!" Steve shouts over the girls screaming.
Her body thrashes against him, her sling burning against the rope tied tightly against her wrists.
"Put her on the chair," Tony responds, stumbling to pull out a book. "Kids, go to the corner."
"I can help," Mike argues. "Let me—"
"MIKE," Lucas shouts, pulling him back into the corner, "now is not the time to argue. You can help Frankie by staying the hell out of the way and not getting hurt!"
He goes to argue, but stops himself at the sound of the girl's loud sobs. Turning his his head, he shifts his eyes to glance at her. In a split second, he's in the corner with the others, huddling for protection.
Maybe thirty minutes in, and people start to arrive.
The Byers family were expecting to come home to finally be able to rest after everything that happened. Instead, when Nancy opened the door, they were met with the sight of things being thrown, yelling, and Frankie tied to a chair.
This looked all too familiar.
"FRANKIE STOP! YOURE HURTING YOURSELF! JUST LET IT HAPPEN!" Steve begs, in tears at this point.
He's been forced to watch as Frankie fights against her restraints, bruises forming on her wrists and ankles from tugging against the hard rope. Not to mention the random marks and bruises forming all along her body as Tony tries to read the Latin bible to her.
"Stop, tony! You have to stop! It's not working– y-you— you're hurting her!" Steve begs, trying to snatch the book from the ghosts hands.
"STEVE! Snap out of it, sir! That is not Frankie anymore. You must stay strong to get back!" Tony shouts, flipping through pages of the Bible.
"LET ME OUT! LET ME GO! LET ME OUUUUT!" Frankie howls, tears and blood streaming down her face.
The kids are all crowded in the corner, covering their eyes and ears in pure terror.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!" Joyce screams, grabbing their attention.
"There's no time to explain!" Steve tells her. "We're doing an exorcism on Frankie."
"This couldn't wait till later?!" Nancy questions, rushing over.
"She'll fucking die if we wait! She's dying! We have to hurry this shit up, but nothings working!" He sobs, bent over in front of Frankie's chair.
"You have to talk to her!" Tony yells. "You have to remind her why she should be strong and come back."
"SHE ISNT COMING BACK!" The voice leaves Frankie's mouth, but it certainly isn't Frankie.
Steve flinches at this, as does everyone else in the room.
The entire time, Will stares wide-eyed at the girl. He wanted so badly to come back to her with apologies for him forgetting her. To tell her how a little bit of him was there when they kissed again.
"Will, I think you should go outside while we do this," Jonathan whispers. "You don't need to see this right now."
"I have to help her!" Will begs, looking so tired and weak.
"You can't—"
"He can!" Tony interjects. "She's in love with him for crying out loud! He saw us without the piano."
"Who are you?!" Jonathan spouts.
"My question exactly!" Dustin comments, earning a look from everyone.
"They're kids! They can't be in love," Steve argues. "They don't even know what that means!"
"With all do respect, sir, this is no time for questions, but if you most know, my name is Tony! I was put to death in the year 1888 for poisoning the man I was a butler of," Tony explains, ignoring Steve. "Please, sir. This is a life or death situation."
Jonathan looks frightened, but has no choice. He lets Will go.
"Wait?! What?!" Steve scoffs, "the poor kid might make the situation worse!"
"Sir Steve, this is no time to act out of jealousy!" Tony begs. "We all know that you love Frankie more, now please let the child help!"
Steve swallows hard, looking between Will and Frankie. Then, he nods.
The frail boy rushes forward, still dizzy from the happenings from before.
Frankie is still screaming and moving around in the chair. He can tell she's in a lot of pain, and it hurts him to see her that way. He wonders if she felt the same for him.
"Frankie?" He speaks, nervously stepping in front of her.
The girl stops moving in her chair. Steve looks at the young boy with a hopeful expression.
"I'm here now," Will crows softly. "I promise I'm staying this time. Please, come back to us."
He stares softly into her blank eyes, and she stares back. Suddenly, her body jerks forward and she pukes up pure black all down her chin and chest. Thankfully, Will steps back in time.
"It's working! Steve! Get in there!" Nancy pushes.
He does, and instead of being gentle like Will, he is frantic and demanding as he notices her eyes begin to close. He grabs her by her shoulders her and jerks her awake.
"You stay awake do you hear me?! Don't you dare close your eyes! Please! Come on!" Steve shouts.
"Please," Frankie croaks, this time it's really her. "Just let me go. There's nothing you can do, and it wasn't your fault. Don't make this harder than it already is..."
Will flinches at her words, tearing up at how broken and tired she sounds. She must've been suffering for so long, and nobody ever did anything.
It almost feels like a repeat of history as Steve lets out a loud sob.
"Stop, Frankie! Please, don't talk like that," Steve begs. "You're hurting me..."
A sudden flash of lights turn on, and Frankie's eyes widen.
"I'm hurting you?" She whispers.
As the words leave her mouth, every single light bulb in the house bursts— shattering to a million pieces. Everyone sucks to cover their faces as the glass flies everywhere.
"NO NO NO! OH NO!" Frankie cries loudly. "IM HURTING HIM!"
Her chair floats in the air, and her eyes seem to go completely white.
"CLOSE GATE!" She screams. "I NEED THE PIANO!"
Blood is gushing down her nose, and her eyes snap wide open.
"Piano? SHE NEEDS A FUCKING PIANO," Steve screams, frantically looking around for something to suffice.
"I-I, uh, I have one," Jonathan stammers, stumbling over furniture and towards his room. "I have a key board, does that work?"
Steve glances at Frankie.
"It works," she nods, looking extremely tired. "Bring, I-I think I'm dying."
That panics Steve, even more, and he rushes to help Jonathan get the keyboard along with the wires it requires.
"F-Frankie?" Will softly says, staring at her pale complexion. "Please don't...d-don't— you know. I don't wanna say it."
Frankie softly smiles at him, nodding her head.
"I won't."
Finally, Jonathan hooks up the keyboard, and plays a single note to make sure it's working. Steve blasts the sound, making sure its heard far and wide.
"What the hell is a keyboard supposed to do?!" Dustin mutters confusedly.
"Just shut up," Max grumbles, nudging him.
"I need to be untied," Frankie states.
"...we- I don't think we can do that," Steve mutters. "Frankie, I—"
"Do it. Until her," Alex states, reappearing. "Please do it."
"Well I'm definitely not fucking doing it now," Steve barks. "I know you're the one that did this you—"
"Sir," Tony interrupts. "Alex is no longer demonized. The last step is closing the gate. Alex is regretful for what happened, but it isn't entirely their fault."
"So I untie her?" Steve mumbles.
"Yes, quickly."
Without any hesitation, Steve unties the hand ropes, leaving the ones around her ankles tied to the chair. There's no time to waste at this point.
Frankie collapses onto the keyboard, producing a loud sound. Everyone covers their ears, flinching at the sudden loud nose.
"Play it," Tony nods.
Suddenly, the room is filled with numerous spirits. Imagine that? Imagine how freaked out you'd be.
You could imagine the screams that left everyone's mouths except those who understand.
"Play it," the spirits chant. "Play it. Play it. Play it. Play it,"
Finally, Frankie begins. She plays a single note. Then, she plays the melody that began it all. The song takes their breath away. It was a beautiful song, but the situation they're hearing it in isn't the most flattering.
Still, they're all very impressed, and star struck as her fingers glide over the keys so easily despite how tired she appears. She looks as though she'll collapse any second.
Then, she plays the last key.
A final intense scream leaves her mouth, and everyone covers their ears at the loud noises. They watch with tears as Frankie spits up even more blackness. Her chair falls loudly to the ground. Then, she goes limp in her chair.
Finally, a silence rings in the air. The ghosts are gone, and everyone slowly uncovers their ears and looks up at the girl.
Steve has already begun to check for a pulse, but finds nothing.
"No, no, not again! Not again d-damn it!" He begs, not even caring how he's sobbing in front of them all. "Wake up! Wake up, Frankie!"
Will stares in horror at the girl's limp body. His heart is taking off full speed, and he doesn't realize that he's began to cry.
Jonathan rushes over to comfort him.
Everyone watches yet again, as the girl remains lifeless. Only this time, with no pulse at all.
Steve is kneeled in front of the girl, untying her legs in a hurry. She falls forward, and Steve immediately catches her in his arms. He hugs her tightly and begins to mutter words over and over.
"Please, Fran. Please," he whispers. "I can lose fucking everything, but not you. Oh god, not you."
He cries for a long while. A very long while, but just as Nancy goes to pull him away, a voice makes all their hearts burst.
"How many times are you gonna sob in my ear today?" She whispers, laughing tiredly.
He gasps and pulls her into a deeper hug than before.
"I fall for it every god damn time, damn it!" He laughs, tears of relief streaming down his face.
He doesn't care one bit about the blood over him. Not one bit.
After many needed hugs and relief, everyone finds themselves cleaning up. However, one last pair of friends are yet to greet each other after a long time coming.
Will steps follow after Frankie as she wonders off down the hall.
He finds her cleaning up pieces of broken glass in his room, and steps forward. She doesn't notice his presence until she hears the door close.
Her head shoots up, but she's relieved to find that it's just Will. Then, she becomes flustered.
"You didn't say hi to me," he states with a soft smile.
"You seemed pretty busy with everyone else," she explains, standing up properly and walking towards him. "Plus, I don't really wanna hug you with all this vomit on me."
"Good point," he laughs, blushing lightly.
"You should take some of my clothes and get cleaned up. Then, I really need to give you something..."
She grins and nods her head.
"Will Byers, how do you already have something to give me when you just returned from being possessed?" She chuckles, watching as he gathers clothes.
"I...I, uh, I've had it for a while. I haven't exactly had the courage to give it to you...when you almost died today, I just...I don't want to waste time being afraid anymore," he states, handing her the clothes. "So hurry out of the shower so I can give it to you already."
"Sure thing," she smiles. "I'm glad we aren't wasting time with fear anymore.."
With that, she goes off the shower. However, she makes Steve stay outside the bathroom door the entire time, still a bit shaken up.
