» Volume 1
"Feeling better?" Steve asks as Frankie opens the bathroom door.
She definitely looked better, her hair brushed out and much cleaner than she's been in days. Steve feels relieved to find that her pale complexion is fading, and a small red hue is returning to her cheeks.
"I feel much better. Do I smell alright?" She questions.
"What does it matter how you smell?" Steve raises a brow suspiciously.
Frankie blushes at this, shrugging her shoulders a bit.
"Um, it...it doesn't— I just," She stammers, turning away from Steve's intense stare. "I was just wondering if I smell good or not."
"Yeah, mhmm," Steve chuckles. "Well, you smell just fine."
"You look pretty," Mike states with a smile. "Probably cause you've looked like crap for the past few days."
"Wow, thanks," Frankie snorts, pushing past the two idiots. "I swear you both make me want to hit myself with a knife.Wheres Will?"
"I believe the technical term is stab," Max corrects with a soft laugh.
"He's in his moms room," Dustin answers. "Why?"
"Just wondering," she clarifies. "I'll be in his room if you need me. I'm really tired, and I'm not leaving. I'm just not."
"Frankie," Steve argues, "we can't stay. I'm not leaving you, and where am I supposed to sleep?"
"You can stay in my room," Jonathan offers, peaking down the hall shyly.
Frankie immediately blushes, still finding herself with a little crush on the older Byers boy. Jonathan, not oblivious to her crush, waves kindly at the girl to which she waves back.
"You don't have to do that, man," Steve says. "You've already done a lot."
"It's no problem," Jonathan assures. "Will doesn't want Frankie to leave anyway. He won't be with my mom long, just till she falls asleep."
"Okay, fine. So what, are we just gonna let them stay in the same room together?" Steve sighs. "You know, they're at a pretty hormonal state already."
"Steve, shut up," Frankie, blushes rushing into Will's room and shutting the door to cover her embarrassment.
"I think they'll be fine," Jonathan chuckles.
In Will's room, Frankie casually sinks into the softness of the boy's mattress. As soon as her skin came into contact with the soft fabric, her mind registered just how tired she really was. She hasn't slept in so long, it seems.
Just as her eyes drift close, the door creams open, then back closed.
Of course, her eyes snap open, and she sits up quickly in the bed. At the door, Will is stood with a hesitant smile.
"Sorry, did I wake you up? You can go back to sleep if you want," he apologizes, walking slowly towards the bed.
"No, no, it's fine," she hums, making space for him to sit.
He takes a seat on the bed, sinking into it beside her. There's a small moment of silence between them, and Frankie blushes deeply. When you like someone a lot, and you spend some time away, when yo return it seems you're back at square one with becoming comfortable again.
"I..I, uh," he fumbles to grab a journal from the nightstand beside the bed, "I have to give you something."
"Oh," she smiles, "that's right. I forgot about that."
"Yeah, uh, well," he blushes, "here it is."
He tears a page from his sketchbook, and hands it to her with a nervous smile and blush. He glances away from her, too nervous to see her expression. If only he'd seen how happy it made her.
The drawing was of them both, but him as a zombie and her as a female version of Frankenstein's monster. The two of them colored so grey, but surrounded by a bright flowery scenery— buzzing with bees. The best part, the two of them seemed to be holding hands.
Its amazing how detailed the drawing is. He drew them so well, she could clearly recognize herself without any needed explanation.
"I was there," he states softly. "When we kissed the second time. I was there, I just couldn't get out completely."
Frankie glances of from the drawing, noticing his red coated cheeks and shifty glances.
"I know," she states. "I knew you'd come back."
"Yeah," he nods, finally making eye contact, "I'll always come back for you."
"I really like you, Will," she states, smiling.
The sentence takes Will by surprise a bit, despite having known from there previous kissing encounters. It's like he knew, but he didn't really know until she said it out loud.
"You're so sweet, and considerate, and charming, and absolutely attractive," she smiles while he blushes, "and I just really like you."
"I like you too," Will blushes. "So much."
"Good," she nods. "Cause now I can finally do this."
He doesn't have the chance to even make a confused face as she leans in and places her lips directly onto his. By now, he's past the awkward stage in kissing, and turns his head to fit against hers comfortably.
They do that for the rest of the night. Kiss and kiss until they're too tired to stay awake.
