"Spirit- Where are we going!?" I exclaimed as my cousin proceeded to drag me out of the Outpost. "You know how... Glowey-Orange-Eye went missing recently? And Jake won't tell you anything??" Spirit asked with a giant grin. I winced a little at his grin. It wasn't a normal smile. It was his malicious smile. I've seen it many times before. Especially when I hugged anybody but him.

"Yes... what about it?" I asked. "Wellllll~...let's just say I know where he is.... " Spirit said in a bitter-sweet way. He smiled again so that I could see his fangs. "And I'll take you to him!!" He said cheerfully, but his eyes seemed empty. "After all, I'd never lie to you like THEY did." He said.

I stared at him skeptically. "Trust me." Spirit said and threw his arm over my shoulder while his extra arms laid at his side. I sighed. "Fine." I huffed. Spirit smiled his little fang-grin again and we headed on our merry way.

Spirit led me to a forest. A very... dim forest. The farther we wandered, the darker it got. Then we stopped. There was a church-like building. The glass was rainbow but the rest was black. Spirit walked me inside and I looked up. The roof was glass and some shards were pointed down to imitate drips. The floor was very vibrant rainbow and the walls were black with rainbow drips and a white smile on the right wall and a frown on the left.

Spirit walked me up to the second floor. There was a portal on the floor. Pitch black. I stared at it. "So... why are we here?" I asked. Spirit giggled. Then I felt someone push me into the portal. I would've screamed but I held my tongue. I wasn't going to give Spirit the pleasure of hearing me in peril.

I hit solid ground soon enough. It was a weird room. It looked like someone had stolen a chunk of the outpost and the rest was just black. I looked around then spotted a familiar figure. "ECHO!!" I yelled happily. I sprung up and ran over to him, hugging him. Echo didn't move. I noticed he has shackles on his leg and two on his wrists.

"Echo..?" I said, confused. Finally, he looked down at me. His eyes were pitch black, pupils were orange smiley faces. A smile was permanently spread across his face but you could easily tell he wasn't happy. In one o his hands he wielded a chainsaw.  "Echo- why do you have that?" I asked.

Silence. "Echo. Why do you have that!?" I demanded. More silence. I stepped back from him and he did his best to turn around. "Answer me!!" I exclaimed. Silence. I glared slightly. Not out of just frustration, but it was also to cover up my fear. I mean, did I REALLY want to get chopped to death by one of my best friends?

"You're. Just. Like. Me... Trapped." Echo said slowly. "W-what do you mean..?" I stammered. "You've been manipulated. Just. Like. Me." Echo said. I stared at him, then at my hand. Did he mean Spirit? "Yes." Echo said. "Hey, my mind isn't for snooping!" I hissed. Echo only turned away.

After a moment of silence I asked, "So... who's manipulated you?". "Smile." Echo answered bitterly, "And only now do I realize.". "Do NOT trust him, Lucas. You'll have to live with the consequences." Echo warned. "..Ok.. I'll be... careful- but, why would Spirit send me here if he wants to keep me manipulated?" I asked. "Well, Smile was supposed to come and increase your... loyalty to Spirit, but it insisted to me it was a waste of time." Echo said, "You can go back.".

I rolled my shoulders slightly. "How..?" I asked. Echo pointed behind me and when I turned back there was a clear way back to the church structure. "What about you?" I asked. "I'll be just fine." Echo said. I nodded, and exited the weird room. "Lucas!!" Spirit exclaimed and tackled me in a hug. Tears were streaming down his face. "I-i was so worried about you! I'm sosososo sorry- I didn't mean to push you into that portal!!" Spirit cried, hugging me tighter. I recalled what Echo had said and played along. Spirit was clutching onto me like I would disappear and for a second, I felt pity. I knew how desperate he was for love. Nobody truly ever loved him except his MOTHER. He hadn't had a family connection ever since him and Taylor got into that argument.

None of his partners ever lasted because he's so... strange. And the fact they're all way too sensitive. Not is a bad way- it's just the fact that he's already troubled himself. He needs a confident partner, not an insecure partner, or someone who's only into looks and power. Someone with a strong personality- someone who can keep him safe and in check.

I held him gently, but enough where he knew he was safe. I rubbed his back in attempt to soothe him. "Calm down.. I'm alright.." I told him gently. Spirit's grip got tighter. "You can't get hurt... You can't die...  I CAN'T lose you.." He said through gritted teeth. "You won't." I told him, "You have me, Jake, Dovie- everyone. Even if they leave you- I won't. I'll be by your side.".
