Story # 10
The Shipwreck
The sky was a clear blue, not a cloud in sight. The sun smiling radiantly, reflecting off the calm sea. A ship was gracefully sailing across the water, creating gentle ripples on the surface of the water. Land was just within sight.
On the ship, the crew were mightily pleased with themselves: after voyaging for four whole months, the finally had found "The lost Jewels of Peru" and were ecstatic to get back home to tell everyone about their adventure.
Captain Kraig was among the celebrating crew. Holding a quarter pint of ale in his filthy right hand- there was a shortage of and drink after the four month journey- he began a speech.
"Men. I am delighted to have found this treasure with you all; I wouldn't have chosen any other crew in the world! You see, I've wanted to find this treasure for a long time. But people said I was foolish. They laughed at me and said that I couldn't do it. The said that the treasure held a curse! And if i had listened to them then, I wouldn't be here now. And for that, I want to propose a toast. To believing in yourself and pursuing your dreams!" He ended his speech with a hasty swig of his crew and his crew followed suit.
The thought of their riches filled them with happiness, but their drunken-selves didn't notice the brooding storm approaching the ship. The storm was a huge, dark cloud, that resembled a merciless animal. It's eyes glowered at it's unaware victim, and it was getting ready to attack.
It summoned the wind; a strong gust of it. The rain thudded hard on the topmost decks. A flash of lightning and the crashing of thunder, could be heard from above the ship. These simple spells were all it took to make the ship rock vigorously.
The captain rushed onto the deck feeling dazed. He realised what was happening and ran to get his crew members.
As the raced into their little dark quarters, another bolt of lightning struck, not that far away from their ship. The twenty crew members were unconscious and unaware of the heavy storm, their snores battling the sounds outside.
"BOYS! BOYS! ALL HANDS ON DECK! BOYS!" The captain's gruff voice was shouting. The men did not stir. They were all too drunk. The captain was in a frenzy of panic. He could not do this alone. He knew what was going to happen.
As quick as a flash, he was in his study. It was a handsome room filled with oil paintings of the captain's ancestors and other trinkets the captain had collected on his journeys around the world. The room had been dully lit and held an air of sentiment to it.
As the captain rushed to his safe, he could hear all the secrets and memories being recounted to him. With shaking hands, he opened the safe and placed the jewels inside. Next, he grabbed his parrot and tied a map around it's leg, the ships location marked out. After opening the window, the parrot flew away without a second glance back.
The captain closed his eyes and listened to the sound of the never-ending storm. The last sounds he would ever hear.
The sky was a clear blue, not a cloud was in sight. The sun was smiling radiantly, reflecting off the calm sea. The storm had retreated. All it's spells had vanished. The curse had been lifted. And the ship at the bottom of the sea had been there for more than a century.

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
How you doin'?
I hope you enjoyed that adventure-pirate (kinda) story.
I'm not gonna lie.
It was an old story, but I feel like 13 year old me was an okay writer.
(Also, my year 8 teacher was really proud of this story and printed out about 30 copies and gave it to everyone in my class and ngl, it was probably one of my most proudest moments, which probably doesn't say much about the type of moments I usually have... but still).
Anyyywayyyy, I hope next month's story tops this one, so I'll see you next month.
(Stay Dazzling. HAHH!)
