A Good Day

It was a gorgeous sunny day in Middle Earth, that was until dark storm clouds rolled in from the east and covered the ground with rain.

Prisca was enjoying a nice cup of warm tea, as she sat inside of her house and watched the rain fall from the window.

She took another sip of her tea and nearly burnt her tongue, she had forgotten it was still piping hot.

Now the tip of her tongue hurt, "Ow.. Ow.. Ow.."

She heard a knock on her door, at first she stared at the door curiously then set her cup of tea down on the table, and then went to the door.

She opened it and a figure her size ran inside quickly without saying a word, Prisca shut the door then looked behind her at the small figure standing in front of her.

"Sorry to barge in on you Pris."

The figure took of the hood on it's head and smiled at Prisca, "Es!" Prisca gave her a big hug. Then made a strange face while hugging her, "Wait, why are you here?" Prisca asked curiously. As she pulled back and had both of her hands on Esmerelda's shoulders.

Esmerelda backed away then went towards the kitchen.

She watched as Esmerelda started to raid the cabinets for snacks, "Oh I was coming over to see if you wanted to do something, then it starting raining!" she exclaimed then started mumbling under her breath.

"Yeah, quite the weather change!"

Esmerelda turned around and faced Prisca and had her hands full of different snacks, "Es, you do know that you don't have to eat every single minute?" Prisca said laughing.

"Yeah! You just never know which meal will be your last."

Prisca shook her head in disbelief as she attempted to take another drink of her tea, this time it wasn't steaming hot.

"So, what have you been up to?" Esmerelda asked, while shoving little cakes into her mouth.

"Not much, I was going to come to the Shire after I drank my tea but then it started to rain."

"Well, we can still go. We'll just be wet once we get there."

"I guess we could, i'm not doing anything else."

"Great then! Let's go now!" Esmerelda grabbed Prisca's hand and started to march towards the door.

Prisca pulled back and rubbed her wrist, "Wait just a minute Es, I have to get my cloak."

Esmerelda rolled her eyes then tapped her foot, Prisca watched her as she tightened the clasp on her cloak. Then pulled the hood over her head, "Are you ready now?" Esmerelda asked.

Prisca nodded her head, Esmerelda opened the door and motioned her hand outside and Prisca walked out. Leaving her cup of perfectly fine tea to get cold.

The rain died down after awhile and soft wet sprinkles of water spread across the land.

"What are we going to do once we get to the Shire?" Prisca asked.

Esmerelda shrugged her shoulders, "Maybe just see what Merry and Pippin are doing. Other than that I don't know what we would do."

"What if they aren't doing anything?"

"Then we could go to my place and eat delicious snacks."

"That's not what I had in mind..."

Esmerelda shrugged her shoulders and mumbled something that Prisca couldn't make out.

They arrived at the Shire and not a single hobbit was in sight.

"So where are Merry and Pippin?"

"I don't know."

"Where are they usually at?"

"Either the Green Dragon, or off getting into trouble."

"Oh."

The wet ground made Pricsa's feet very cold, and the rest of her body cold as well.

"Let's go see if they're at the Green Dragon then." Prisca said.

"Alright! This way!" Esmerelda skipped for a few brief seconds then stopped and took a deep breath.

They turned a corner to see the Green Dragon and they heard loud music playing from the outside. "They must be in there!" Esmerelda said.

Prisca followed after her into the Green Dragon, they could barley enter. The place was crowded and full of hobbits. Prisca followed Esmerelda who seemed like she had no idea what to do.

"ITS USUALLY NEVER THIS BUSY!" Esmerelda yelled trying to talk over the crowd and music.

A table with four hobbits was in Prisca's sight, she saw Frodo, Merry, Pippin, and Sam.

"They're over there Es!" Prisca said out loud.

Esmerelda saw them then tried to get past the crowd, Prisca followed after her. They came to the table in the corner with the four hobbits sitting at it.

"Hello fellow hobbits!" Esmerelda said. They all smiled and waved, Esmerelda removed her wet cloak and threw it to the ground.

"Come and sit! We have plenty of room!" Pippin said.

Prisca and Esmerelda sat down and they watched the crowd in front of them, fast music started playing and hobbits starting dancing to the music.

They watched in silence, none of them said a word since Esmerelda and Prisca showed up.

"Well this is boring!" Esmerelda exclaimed and put her hands up to her cheeks and sighed.

"I agree!" Pippin added.

The others looked at each other, "Well, we could always do something else or we could sit hear and do nothing." Prisca suggested.

"What else could we do?" Sam said.

"We can go to my house and eat snacks!" Esmerelda suggested. They all looked at her and shook their heads, Esmerelda's smile turned to a frown as she grumbled.

Suddenly a burst of sunlight shone through a small window in the building, Esmerelda's face lit up in excitement. "Yes! We can leave this place!" Esmerelda stood to her feet and ran towards the door. The others followed after her, once they got outside they saw no sunlight nor a blue sky.

"Never mind guys, It was just Gandalf."

"Hello hob-" Gandalf was cut off by Esmerelda.

"I mean seriously Gandalf! Do you always have to make things so dramatic?" Esmerelda grumbled.

Gandalf rolled his eyes, "Go on Gandalf." Frodo said.

"Hello hobbits, I bring you a message from Aragorn."

Esmerelda yawned, "Why couldn't he just deliver it to us himself? Beca-"

"Es! Be quiet and let Gandalf speak!" Merry demanded.

Esmerelda crossed her arms and let out a big sigh, "Because Esmerelda Brandybuck he is busy! So I'm delivering the message for him." Gandalf said.

"What is the message?" Prisca asked.

"He wants you all in Rivendell, he didn't go into detail. He just needs you there." Gandalf said, the hobbits looked at each other.

"Strange, I wonder why he wants us there." Sam said.

"Yes, Indeed." Gandalf said.

"When do we need to be there?" Frodo asked, "He said as soon as possible, I have to find some elves as well."

Elves! Esmerelda's eyes widened.

"Let's go now! We must go now! Come on people!" Esmerelda started walking away from everyone, "We aren't going that way Esmerelda." Gandalf sighed.

Esmerelda immediately turned around and went a different direction. "I knew that!"

"We must leave now." Gandalf said.

The hobbits nodded their heads then they followed after Gandalf.

Meanwhile in Mirkwood...

"Legolas! Legolas! Where on Middle Earth are you?" Thranduil's voice echoed of the walls as he yelled for Legolas.

Legolas walked quickly through the halls of the palace trying to find his father, he had searched everywhere.

Finally, he had reached the room where his father had been waiting for him. The one place he did not look.

"Yes father? I am here now." Legolas said.

"Finally, where have you been?"

"Well I was just-"

"Well it doesn't matter now, I have more important things to discuss with you."

Thranduil paused for a moment and looked at Legolas, "Where. Is. Fabulous?" Thranduil said then narrowed his eyes at Legolas, he looked at him strangely then answered.

"I haven't seen Fabulous anywhere. Have you checked the stables?"

"Have you checked the stables... WELL OF COURSE I'VE CHECKED THE STABLES!!! I'VE CHECKED EVERYWHERE!" Thranduil exclaimed, as he threw his arms up in the air.

Legolas winced at the cry of his father, "I can go look for her."

"Then go, and hurry."

Legolas nodded his head then left the room, he walked quickly towards the stables and hoped to find her there.

He turned one of the corners quickly and ran into an elleth, they both had hit each other and both rubbed their heads. "I'm very sorry. I didn't see you there." Legolas said quickly. He couldn't help but look straight into her beautiful brown eyes.

"It's not your fault, it was mine." the elleth blushed lightly but tried to hide it.

"I don't think we've ever met, I'm Legolas. Though you may have already known that."

"Yes, I did know that. I am Ithilwen."

"Well, It was nice meeting you Ithilwen. I must go now, maybe our paths will cross again."

"Yes, maybe." Ithilwen said as she watched Legolas walk away.

Legolas quickly tried to get to the stables without running into anyone else, but he couldn't help think about Ithilwen. He had to try and get his mind off of it though, so he could find Fabulous.

Legolas reached the stables and there was no sign of Fabulous anywhere.

Where could she have gone to?

Then he remembered, last night when he tied her up to the post the rope must have not been tight enough.

He closed his eyes and sighed, "You're in trouble now Legolas." he turned quickly to see another elleth in front of him. "Did you lose something Legolas?" Laineth an elf who lived in Mirkwood as well stood there in front of him.

"Yes, Fabulous is missing and I do not know where I will find her." Legolas said.

"Well, all of your problems have been solved." she pulled a small rope from behind her back that had Fabulous on the other end.

"Where did you find her?" Legolas said then went up to Fabulous and stroked her face. Then he grabbed the rope from Laineth's hand.

"She was roaming around the halls so I caught up with her and brought her back here!" Laineth said with a smile.

"Thank you." Legolas said then tied Fabulous up tightly.

Laineth nodded her head then left the room.

Legolas sighed in relief, then decided he should tell his father. So he had left the stables and went back to his father.

"Es! Could you please stop singing?" Merry said.

Esmerelda ignored the hobbit and kept singing, Prisca laughed along with Pippin.

"Everyone stop where you are." Gandalf said immediately.

Everyone froze and looked at Gandalf, he walked towards a small bush and spoke to it. "Show yourself hobbit."

The bush rustled and a small hobbit slowly stood up, she had a very nervous look on her face as she twirled her blonde curly hair with her fingers.

"What is your name?" Gandalf asked.

"Gri-Grinila..." she said nervously.

"Are you following us Grinila?" Gandalf asked but already knew the answer.

Grinila nodded her head slowly, as she stepped out of the bush and brushed off her clothing. Then looked at the other hobbits, "I'm sorry, I was just curious about what Rivendell was like."

"Very well then, you may come along. I can't send you home now." Gandalf sighed in annoyance.

Grinila'a face lit up in excitement, "Oh thank you-" she paused, "What's your name?"

"Gandalf."

"Oh, well thank you Gandalf."

Gandalf nodded his head then continued walking, Grinila walked behind everyone.

She seems shy. Prisca thought.

Prisca went to Grinila and walked by her side. "I'm Prisca."

"Nice—to meet you." Grinila said.

"I will tell you everyone else's names." Prisca said, she nodded her head towards Esmerelda "That's Esmerelda, she's not shy. So if you ever need to talk to someone then you just go to her and she'll some what give you an answer, or just talk about food. Then there's Merry, on the right of Gandalf and that's Pippin beside him. Then to Gandalf's left is Sam then-" Prisca was interrupted by Grinila, "Frodo." she said.

"Yeah... Frodo." Prisca said awkwardly.

"Oh sorry, I interrupted you."

"It's alright I don't mind."

That was strange... Prisca thought.

Grinila was silent after that, she put her hands behind her back as they kept walking.
