Fallen Angel Sorta Thing?

So I was playing Gachaverse (I was bored) and I came up with like 4 of these style characters:

Don't mind the names they don't have real names yet they're just notes basically XD

And as I was was making them I slowly started making a world for them?? Thing is is that I'm not sure whether I want them to be in a separate universe or if I want them to be in my normal universe, which I already have a lot of different stories set in different places and times throughout the world's history.

So for this short, I'll be using my world and one of my more common OCs, because that's who came to mind as a placeholder XD

Also there's a thunderstorm outside rn and I'm drawing inspiration from that lol

The sky was dark and angry. The patrol fought against the strong winds and hoped to the sky goddess that lightning wouldn't strike them down and give them a swift but excruciating and dishonoring death on the earth below.

"Captain Sunset!" A man with an attire of bright green and sopping lime hair to go with it called to their leader. "Captain! Atrines!"

The man he was calling to looked over his shoulder at his friend. "I know Darian! We must find a place to wait out this storm!" The leader of the team returned to scanning the writhing mass of water and shadow for somewhere for him and his men to shelter. His wings were starting to drag and falter from all the wind currents gasping this way and that. Atrines knew his wings were more durable than his men's from years of training and enhancements, any any moment now one of his comrades could be swept up and lost to their skyward sea.

"Men! Goose formation!" Atrines nearly screamed. He fell backwards and was nearly pulled away by the angered spirits around them. But he felt one of his comrades grab his ankle, and glances back to see Darian somehow still managing to send a supportive grin in his direction. Someone else grabbed his other ankle, then his troop of seven somehow fell into the formation that gave stability in normal windy condition.

"If one of us go, we all go!" Darian shouted what everyone was thinking, in various emotions.

"Are you with me?! We must work together!" Atrines roused. He started to hear his men's cheer of agreement, but that was all cut off by a crack so loud Atrines could not have imagined the deafening silence that came after. He felt the grips of two lives slip off his boots, but he could not see a thing. There was wind rushing all around him.

I'm falling, Atrines thought idly. We must never fall. If we fall to far, we can never return. Yet the thought of never returning home didn't phase him.

There was a tug at his mind and body, going so deep he thought he might have even felt it in his walled heart. Then the deafening cracks of lightning and booms of thunder and roar of the wind all faded into a peaceful, comforting silence.

Atrines ached all over. He slowly sat up and groaned, blinking rapidly as the light entered his sore eyes. There were strange greens and pillars of brown all around. There was a pointed but not sharp or tough green under him, a different mess of green that blocked out the blue of the sky, except coincidentally right above where Atrines sat.

Where in the world am I? This was nothing like his home of whites and greys and blues and other pale colors made from the clouds they live on. It almost reminded Atrines of...

Like the forests we drift over. The ones we're never supposed to touch. This woke the elite general of the Sky Corps up in a hurry. He jumped up and took a deep breath.

This is all just a dream, Atrines. We're all safe in the barracks at home, and Darian and the others are going to splash me with rainwater any minute and make fun of me for having a nightmare because I'm Atrines-

The orange-haired man's fantasy fell into sinking horror as he spotted a shattered mechanical contraption. He fell to his knees, feeling the odd pointy green ground on his skin though his shredded pants. The contraption was part of the mechanism that improved his flight and made him the best aerial fighter in the Sky Corps.

"No, no, no no no no no..." He dared to glance over his shoulder and let out a horrified gasp as his tangerine wings were no longer there.

Somehow, Atrines let out a dry chuckle. "And people thought I was invincible, well look at me now... No wings, no men, no dignity..."

He slowly got up and surveyed his surroundings. He knew from school that there was a different people that lived on the ground. He remembered the warnings his teachers had drilled into him from a young age, "Never attempt to reach the ground. For those that do, they lose their wings forever. They lose everything. The only thing they take with them are the clothes on their back and the bitter memories of a life they can never return to."

Atrines had been wandering for hours now. Apparently shadows were much more common on the ground, between the clouds passing over the sun and the dappled shade from whatever made the canopy above his head. Just as he thought of looking for anything that looked remotely like food, a bright golden blur with wings sped by.

"It can't be," Atrines breathed. He leapt to fly after the creature, but only had gravity pull him down with a harsh thud.

Atrines cursed. A few seconds later, a hand appeared in his view. The elite looked up to see a young man with strangely bland hair and a pale headband keeping it out of his face having a concerned look on his face. His mouth moved, but strangely no sound came out. Atrines raised an eyebrow but took the young man's hand anyway. The man pulled him up and continued moving his mouth, but still Atrines heard nothing. There was also no other sounds around him, to which he supposed there would probably be forest noises (whatever those were) all around him.

Oh great. I'm deaf in a world I have no clue about with a stranger. What else is new?

Atrines didn't question why he could hear himself but no one else. He waved his hand to stop the man from speaking, then tapped his ear and shook his head. The man looked at him questioningly, before his eyes widened and suddenly golden words appeared in the air out of nowhere.

"Can you understand this?"

Atrines nodded. "You use this language, alright." He said. The man raised an eyebrow.

"You speak a different language?" Atrines nodded again.

"I'm all of a sudden very glad I took this as a second language," he laughed. The man chuckled, although looked very confused.

"What do you speak naturally then? I don't believe I'm aware of any other common languages of communication. There's the old fairy dialect that's a subspeech of the dragon tongue, but that's all realities to magic... Sorry. I get carried away sometimes." The man had an awkward smile and wasn't looking at Atrines.

"Oh, uh, I do no think you will recognize my tongue. It is very... complicated." The man did not look amused.

"I'll tell you this right now, sir. I'm not stupid and I can tell a lot of things about you. One, you're lying. Two, you're clearly foreign. And Three, you're a part of some sort of armed force. So why don't you tell me this; who in Rihanna's reign are you?"

The man's hand was glowing that golden glow that seemed to be a reoccurring thing with him. Atrines was not familiar with the strange aura, but was shocked to see the creature he thought he had imagined that tackled him to the ground. A golden dragon-like creature with sharp charcoal horns and spines, with a jaw open and floating menacingly under the rest of the head, which was in turn separated from the body and other limbs.

Atrines breathed the word for the creature in his mother language. The creature immediately blinked and its threatening maw disappeared in surprise, leaving a much more friendly-looking creature that turned back to the man that must have been his master. The man was saying something to the creature, who was looking between Atrines and his master while shaking its head or gesturing with its wings.

"What did you say that got Helios so worked up?" The words appeared in the air a ways back from where Atrines lay.

"I said what my people call his people," the elite captain stated. The man frowned before sighing.

"Come with me. I have a feeling you're a long way from home. Let me help you get figured out, alright?" He held out his hand to help Atrines up again.

Do I? It was a question only in Atrines's mind as he reached up and grasped the other man's rough hand.

"What's your name?" The orange-haired man asked.

"Sena Magi," were what the words read.

Ok so I know none of this made sense I just wanted to write that scene down because I thought it was kinda cool in my head XD Sena and Helios are two original characters from a different story that I've started writing but I won't be posting for a while.

Here's a summary of the plot that I've come up with:

In a freak storm, the elite captain (essentially leader) of the Sky Corps (this unnamed society's army) is thrown from the sky to the ground below. These unnamed peoples are born with unique wings (basically the exact same as the ones in the chibi picture up top. Atrines is the stern looking orange dude) But if the people go too low from their home on the highest cloud layer, their wings disappear and they fall to the ground. So far, no one has ever returned (except one) and the fallen has to live out the rest of their life on the ground,

But Atrines isn't going to accept this. He is the strongest, smartest, most determined man in all of the Sky Corps for a reason. He runs into Sena Magi, a ground human with an ironically similar story that Atrines is able to learn from in more than a few ways.

Armed with more knowledge than any sky human has ever had and the skills of a war-torn sorcerer and a free spirited fairy, Atrines is determined to get home and reclaim his position as the strongest in the Sky Corps.

But if he does get home, will things be different? Will he be welcomed? What happened to Atrines's men that he lost in the storm? Are they alright? How is Atrines's best friend, Darian, or the woman he secretly admires?

I'd love to start this but I need to write Sena's story because that happens all before this and nothing about him will make sense :T

Also song for either Atrines or this story:
