The reader is a 18 year old with a foster mother in Japan, he never really wanted to connect with his foster mother, so he only paid attention to digimon, primarily the card game and anime, one day he unintentional walks into a Bio-emergance field and encounters a battle between a Kotemon and a Nefertimon, which is possessed by a Parasitimon(a scout by the invasion from the trailmon movie), the reader is thrown back by a blast while the Kotemon attempts to protect him, leading to his card reader and cards falling out, he accidentally slashes a blue card through the reader and it becomes a digivice, connecting to Kotemon. But shortly after Rika shows up. In the battle after the readers D-power absorbs the Nefertimon's digicore(the most basic form of a digimon, contains the digimon most basic data, its baby 1 form), being registered as a second partner, when the reader notices how Rika does digimodify he slashes OmniSword and Kotamon gains the Omnisword and beats Renamon with ease, before the reader picks Kotamon up and runs, much to the dismay of Kotemon's pride. Kotemon will try to help the reader with being more open to people, and try to help him make a connection to the Readers Foster mother, effectively revealing himself to her. This all occurs a week before Takato accidently creates Guilmon.
