Fantasy bordering on fiction.

The world the MC lives in has moved on.   it's considered passe to think about magic, dragons, beast etc, as all have been found to have logical explanations in science and reality except for a chosen few things,and a chosen few people.

MC is drafted into the army after getting blackout drunk and causing a near riot at a local pub.  it's here that he meets Spencer (an actual magician/wizard) and eventually he meets Muerial, the half-elven princess set to guide him on his path.  When the princess of the realm is captured the three go on an adventure to try and free her from the bandits that took her.  Along the way discovering that magic and beasts are real, and bumbling MC's way into marriage with the royals.
