A man is lost in time and reality, each time he slides the world becomes grey and fades and something is new, whether it be something as small as the way February is spelt, or the fact that he might have an entire family on the other side of a shift.

The first time he shifted he was young, probably only about 10 and didn't fully realize what had happened.  He's not even sure he's ever been back to that reality to see his parents and siblings ever again.  It's from a death outside the norm that leaves a gap in the multiverse where he stands,instead of millions of copies of himself holding steady on their independent planes of reality they are minus one, which allows them all to slide and shift realities.

The entire book is about him struggling to get back to a wife and children he had for an extended period, while another version of him is stalking and slowly killing off versions of himself thus facilitating the persona swaps.
