Life Changes

As the Ghost finally landed on Yavin 4 several of the surviving rebels got off the ship. Kallus however stayed on. Only a few others stayed on as well. Of them included the ships crew, the clone, and a young mando boy.
"So this is what the infamous Ghost ship looks like on the inside?" Kallus asked looking around.
"Yep, our little home no matter where we are." Zeb replied. "Glad you finally took my offer to get on board."
Kallus smiled remembering the time he got to know Zeb when they were stranded on that icy moon. It wasn't the first time he had doubted the empire as an imperial but it was the last straw.
He looked around at the crew that was in the room. Zeb was really the only one in here that he actually had spent any time alone with. The other two he had were talking in the other room.
The door to that room opened. Ezra and Kanan walked out together. Wow those two had changed from Kallus' first encounter with this crew. Ezra had grown from that young street rat that he had captured his first day on Lothal.
"Hey Jabba," Kallus said casualty to the boy.
Kanan smiled a little at that. "Go back in time I see."
"Hey mutton chops." Ezra replied back with a grin. Kallus was kinda glad the kid still had that child like quality to him. He had grown so much in the years Kallus had known him.
"So, I guess people do come back after all?" Kallus asked him.
"Depends on the person. We just happened to get mixed up with people who did." Ezra replied. He looked up at his master. "Glad I ran into someone who would that day."
"Someone who always will." Kanan added.
"So how much of what you told me back then was true?" Kallus asked.
"At the time, about ninety percent. Like I said I had just met them. I wasn't part of this crew yet. As far as I knew people didn't come back. At least not for me, not until that day." Ezra explained. "I did work alone, because that was all I knew under the empire."
"Well Bridger you sure have changed."
"So have you Kallus, but that's what life is about though. Changing to be a better person."
Kanan looked down at his padawan with pride. Ezra pulled away and turned his own gaze away from his masters. Kallus was a bit disturbed by the way that the Jedi's blind gaze fixed on his padawan. Even though the kid couldn't seem to meet it for more than a few seconds the look was still that of a proud parent.
"Now where did that come from?" Kanan laughed.
"Learned it from you. Told you there was still a lot left for you to teach me." Ezra replied.
"I'm still not convinced. You're both right though. We've all changed from who we were three years ago. You've grown up, you both have changed paths, Hera and Sabine have become great leaders, and I've had to learn to look at things differently." Kanan replied forcing Ezra to look at him. "If only I could get you to stop feeling so guilty all the time."
Ezra sighed.
"Guilty? About what?" Kallus asked.
"Everything." Ezra replied. "I could have prevented a lot of people from getting hurt if I had just listened to Kanan and Ahsoka."
"Ezra..." Kanan started.
"Maybe you never blamed me Kanan, and I have forgiven myself. That doesn't change things though and I'd prefer not to think about that in light of what just happened." Ezra interrupted.
"That was my fault. I should have gone with you when you came for me." Kallus replied. "As far as the rest I had no idea. I was just told what the empire thought I needed to know."
"It's not your fault ether Kallus. If you had gone with us when we came to get you then we wouldn't have had the warning." Kanan said without missing a beat.
"Um, Kallus I have a question for you." Ezra said eyeing Kallus helmet.
Kanan rolled his eyes knowing what Ezra was about to ask.
"Sure Bridger what?" Kallus replied.
"Out of curiosity, what do you plan on doing with your helmet?"
"He wants it for his collection." Kanan explained.
"What? I don't have an ISB agent helmet. At least not yet." Ezra snapped back.
"I was going to keep it as a reminder of what I was. I think I can probably manage to get you another one though." Kallus replied.  "I have a few spare back in my old office on Lothal. Next time we go back you might be able to steal some."
"If they haven't cleaned it out yet." Ezra smiled. "We're definitely going back. It's my home and we haven't saved it yet."
"You must have been a crystal in the ruff there Bridger. The empire would have really wanted you just like all the crystals on Lothal."  Kallus replied looking at the almost grown boy in front of him.
Kanan pulled away from Ezra and put both his hands on the boy's shoulders. He appeared to be taking a good look at his padawan.
"You know now that you mention it. I can't believe I never noticed before." Kanan said as his blind eyes scanned over Ezra. "It explains so much."
"What does Kanan?" Ezra asked.
"You being a crystal." Kanan explained. "Your force signature is similar to a kyber crystal."
Ezra's eyes widened.
"There's suppose to be a lot of those on Lothal. The empire has been mining them for some weapons. That was above my clearance though." Kallus stated.

• not really sure if I'm actually going to continue this one or not. It might work as an end to my book Kallus on Fanfintion.net but it could also be the start of a new story as well. It has a lot of potential. Especially if someone is interested in doing a Aladdin AU. Just throwing it out there Hanni2034 ilovedolphins101 or anyone interested in it.
lothcatwillow I can see you doing some interesting things with this idea.
